DJ stays awake for 10 days straight breaking world record for longest DJ set

Beginning June 22 and finishing up July 2, Nigeria’s DJ Obi has broken the record for world’s longest DJ set with a 230 hour [10 days] set in Sao Café Lagos.

After four or five days without sleep he was ready to give up and began hallucinating as he lost control of his body.

I woke up hallucinating after 4 or 5 days and had lost full control of my body…I used the loss my father as an inspiration, constantly thinking to myself that my Dad was watching me and would be disappointed if I failed.

The rules, set by the Guinness World Records, demanded that the DJ have someone dancing at all times. He wasn’t allowed to repeat a song within four hours of playing it but was allowed a five-minute break every hour. Obi was also allowed daily medical checks, massages and vitamins to keep him going.
