Cedric Gervais and Conrad Sewell

Grammy Award-winning DJ, producer and label boss Cedric Gervais releases his melodic new single titled ‘Higher’ featuring vocals from Australian singer and songwriter Conrad Sewell.

Cedric Gervais has become one of the most in-demand electronic dance music producers in the world today. ‘Higher‘ utilises bouncy chords to create playful melodies on the release, underpinned by the raw and emotive vocals of Sewell.

Cedric’s latest offering follows his previous single ‘Somebody New’ feat. Liza Owen and his catchy remix of J Balvin and Willy William’s summer anthem, ‘Mi Gente’. He recruited the UK born, Australian raised breakout artist Conrad Sewell to lend his vocal prowess to ‘Higher‘.

Cedric says, “Conrad is such a great singer and writer, and working on this song with him was nothing short of amazing. We both had similar ideas about where to take this song and it was very natural to arrive at a final product we both loved, and I’m very excited for everyone to hear it.”

Conrad Sewell propelled into mainstream consciousness in 2014, when he sang on Kygo’s worldwide smash hit ‘Firestone’, which garnered over 546 million Spotify streams.

“I’ve been a fan of Cedric’s since I first heard his remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” says Sewell.

“When the call came for the collaboration, it was a no brainer for me. Cedric and I both share the same love affair for music and our fans, thus the idea for “Higher” was born, and I think through working together the song grew into something really special” he added.

Higher‘ demonstrates Cedric’s diversity and talent as a producer combined with Sewell’s effortless vocal abilities. Set to become a massive hit with his loyal following, ‘Higher’ is ready to become a permanent fixture on dancefloors and singles charts alike.

Julian Jordan drops ‘Light Years Away’ a stunner of a collaboration with TYMEN

Julian Jordan
Julian Jordan

One of our favorite DJs and producers, Julian Jordan is back with another vocal gem in the form of ‘Light Years Away’, a stunner of a collaboration with TYMEN that once again shows off his endless diversity.

Coming in the wake of his first EP on his very own GOLDKID Records, it makes for a killer one-two.

This wonderfully emotive slice of electronic pop moves Julian Jordan away from pure dancefloor ambitions and onto the airwaves, with its beautiful songwriting and honeyed vocals elevating it to something really special. Muted piano chords and the slightest of beats flutter away under the vox, with gentle builds thrusting us towards the surprisingly bombastic crescendos.

Sweet pitch-bending synths glide over a chunky breakbeat rhythm and fizzing, pulsating synth chords to create a huge wall of sound. Flitting between these section and the mellow vocal passages, it’s very much a game of two halves and all the better for it.

Julian just finished a mini tour of the United States where the track received huge reactions from the fans, and last month he hosted his very own party on the Sunday of ADE at Amsterdam’s much-loved Jimmy Woo club. Closing out the festival with a bang, it was an unmissable night where Light Years Away sure got a triumphant airing.

Meet Malifoo, the newest project from DJ & producer Eduardo Berenguer

Malifoo

It’s been a busy month for Brasilian electronic dance music DJ and producer Eduardo Berenger.

Berenger, who is best known as one half of the house/trance duo Lenx & Denx, released his newest project a few weeks ago under the new name Malifoo.

According to Eduardo Berenger, the project started from a desire to “..synthesize the synergic feeling between the artist and the crowd. The butterflies in your stomach that make you jump up and down with your eyes closed when your favorite song plays. The feeling that the beat is, literally, coming from your chest.”

Malifoo Talkbox

Under his new alias Malifoo, Berenger has also released his first single, titled, “Talkbox.” The song released on Armada Deep, on first listen, seems true to the goal of the project and is packed with enough tropical notes and flowy grooves that are sure to please house fans anywhere.

This is only the beginning of Berenger’s new adventure, and here’s hoping we hear more from Malifoo in the near future.

Girl bought a Microsoft program instead of a fest ticket and asks for a refund

microsoft

Have you ever bought the wrong ticket for a festival? Sure it happens, sometimes you buy a one-day ticket instead of a 2-day ticket, maybe you even buy a VIP and overdraft your bank account. But never, have I ever bought a Microsoft program instead of a festival ticket.

Believe it or not a very dense girl who was probably just a little too excited about Outlook Festival, hopped onto the internet and bought herself Microsoft’s very mediocre email software.

Outlook Festival is very expensive summer music festival that is hosted on the beautiful beaches of Croatia that features performances from legends DJ Shadow and Dizzie Rascal.

So the poor girl, like any logical person would do, reached out to try and get a refund for her purchase and while you may be thinking, “Maybe Microsoft will understand and give her a refund.” I should probably tell you she instead contacted Outlook Festival. She writes a very powerfully worded and awfully spelled email telling why Outlook festival should give her a refund for her lack of attention to detail.

As you can see above, she really just wants this nightmare to end. I mean really, how awful is it that they made their festival ticket the same price as Microsoft Outlook and on top of that, I’m pretty sure their websites look EXACTLY the same; * insert sarcasm here.

But, I do hope that she gets this all sorted out and gets to take her luxury trip to Croatia and get lost in the sounds and sights.

Police had to break the door down after Amazon’s ‘Alexa’ started it’s own rave

alexa

Over the weekend in Germany, police had a very strange run in with Amazon’s home assistant ‘Alexa’.

The incident took place in the city of Hamburg. Oliver Haberstroh, the owner of this specific Alexa assistant was apparently out for the night at a local nightclub. After multiple complaints from neighbors reporting a party next door, police were forced to respond.

With music blasting within the apartment, police actually broke down the door after getting no response. What they found was not a party, just an Alexa home assistant playing music on fully loud.

“Alexa independently, without command and without being controlled by my mobile phone, decided to celebrate her own party at full volume,” Haberstroh wrote on Amazon’s Facebook page.

Oliver and police both suggested a technological flaw in the machine. Amazon is now in contact with the owner to try and get a better understanding of what happened. Regardless of the outcome, this might be one of the more uncommon stories you’ll hear.

Check back for future updates…
