Check out the full interview below.

Summer is officially over, what has been a key highlight this season?

“A highlight this year was definitely Awakenings Festival in Amsterdam! I had the honour of closing the mainstage on Saturday and it was up there as one of the best gigs of recent years.”

You’ve been very busy working on your new album ‘\\\\’ [four] which is set to be released on 15th November, how did this all come about?

“I’m constantly making music, however, this collection of songs really came together as a body of work over the last 12 months. The album actually is a tribute to the European electronic mid-90’s period. I was lucky enough to be part of that period and experience all the developments in these years. This period formed the foundation of my musical journey. As you’ll listen to the album, you’ll hear the influences from that time!”

With more than 20 years in the industry, how do you think the music scene has changed? Has your style adapted over time?

“Of course the scene has changed, but not really in a musical way. I feel like, musically wise, a lot more changed during the ’90s. Back in those days, every day was a different day with a different sound. I call myself an artist in the traditional sense. Therefore, I have my own sound and I get inspiration from different influences.”

You’re set to play at ANTS special Halloween event in Madrid, are you excited? You’ve played a few of the colonies tour dates this summer (World Club Dome, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Tomorrowland), which has been your standout show?

“I’m definitely excited to be playing at ANTS in Madrid. For me, all the shows have great memories, but for now I’d like to highlight the ANTS editions at Ushuaïa Ibiza. I’ve been there quite often this summer and every time I returned, I received such a warm welcome from the crowd.”

Is there a track you always play to get the crowd going? What can we expect to hear from you in Madrid?

“There isn’t necessarily one track I always play. I think my strategy is always to listen to the crowd and feel their vibe. This way, every set is a different one. I might add a bit of a Halloween vibe to it…”

Any new acts on your radar that you feel are going to be big in 2020?

“Good question, I would say ARTBAT, who played at my Awakenings show during ADE. There are so many talented artists out there but I’m always looking for acts that have a certain level of longevity in their music. Someone I believe will be around in 10-20 years as well because their music has the potential to be timeless.”

Lastly, what can we expect from Joris Voorn in 2020? Can you give us any clues that are on the horizon?

“The most important event that will happen in a very short period of time will be the release of my latest album called  ‘\\\\’ [four]. I loved creating the music for this album, so in 2020 I’ll just continue with doing that and of course, play at a lot of countries during my album tour up until the summer.”

Joris Voorn is set to play ANTS Halloween special in Madrid, Spain on October 31st. Make sure to grab your tickets on time!

The legendary DJ and producer has announced his next album ‘\\\\’ [four] will be released on November 15th via his new Spectrum Music imprint and has revealed this beautiful album track, ‘Messiah’ just for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
