Brand new 2-day music festival, Project Glow, to debut in Washington, D.C.

Global event powerhouse Insomniac and Washington, D.C. based promotions company Club Glow, acquired by Insomniac back in February 2020, have announced Project GLOW. The two-day electronic music festival from the team behind DJ Mag’s #1 ranked venue in the world, Echostage, will be the first of its kind to take place in the nation’s capital.

On Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, Project GLOW will offer festival goers a transformation of one of the city’s most prominent recreational hubs, bringing two thoughtfully curated stages of music, exquisite food and beverage offerings and a collection of globally-recognized artists to the RFK Festival Grounds.

True to the historic nature of the city, Project GLOW is the culmination of the past 20 years of Club Glow, representing its impact on the DC music scene while championing the superstar acts that will take to the new festival stages.

Project GLOW has been 20 years in the making. It’s been my dream as a native Washingtonian to do a festival in DC proper and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to continue to grow here,” said Glow President & CEO Pete Kalamoutsos.

“After the successes that 2021 brought to Club Glow, Soundcheck and Echostage, we’re ready to start this next chapter and welcome everyone to Project GLOW” he added.

Project GLOW lineup

“Club Glow is known for being the longest-running EDM event promotions company on the East Coast. Since the opportunity came in 2020 for them to join the Insomniac family, we have been extremely motivated to bring special and unique experiences to the rave community in D.C.” said Pasquale Rotella, Founder & CEO of Insomniac.

Pete and the entire Club Glow team have been trailblazers for rave culture in our nation’s capital for over the last two decades. They put a high level of care into their vision for the experiences they create, while also sharing the same passion and core values that we live by at Insomniac. We couldn’t be more excited for everyone to see what we have created together with Project GLOW” he added.

The RFK Festival Grounds, on the banks of the historic Anacostia River, sits just outside the former RFK Stadium. As one of the nation’s first true multi-purpose stadiums, RFK brought iconic memories to sports and music fans in Washington, D.C. for 59 years, having played host to numerous college and professional sports teams and live music events. Today, the RFK festival grounds welcome community events, entertainment, and recreational activities in the DC area’s largest open-air venue.

Established in 1999, Club Glow has produced more than 150 events per year at Echostage and Soundcheck, as well as festivals Moonrise and Preakness InfieldFest, drawing fans from up and down the Eastern Seaboard.

After four consecutive years as the #1 ranked venue in North America, 2021 saw Echostage named as the #1 venue in the world by DJ Mag. In February 2020, Insomniac Events announced the acquisition of electronic music event promotions company Club Glow along with iconic venues Echostage and Soundcheck, both located in the Washington, D.C. area. The deal has paired Club Glow’s Pete Kalamoutsos with Insomniac Events’ Pasquale Rotella, expanding Insomniac’s venue and events portfolio on the East Coast. Project GLOW is the first major development in the roster of new events and plans the two have together.
