Seven Lions Unveils New Single “Free”

Seven Lions returns with his next single, “Free”, the second release from his forthcoming EP The Dreams Strange and Eternal, arriving May 1 on Ophelia Records. Alongside the release, fans will have the opportunity to get involved through a “Free” remix contest.

Expanding on the mythic sonic universe introduced in his 2025 album Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars, the new single continues the story and atmosphere that defined the LP while pushing its sound into new emotional and stylistic territory.

With “Free,” Seven Lions deepens the immersive world-building that has become central to this era of his music. Where Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars reconnected him with the inspirations that shaped his earliest productions, The Dreams Strange and Eternal acts as a companion piece – an extension of the same narrative and sonic palette.

Existing within the same universe, the EP expands on the album’s celestial aesthetic while exploring new ground.

True to its title, “Free” transcends traditional dance music boundaries, weaving together multiple facets of Seven Lions‘ signature sound. Classic trance melodies and euphoric vocal moments rise above shimmering builds before giving way to explosive melodic dubstep drops, while luminous piano house chords add an unexpected warmth and lift.

The result is a track that moves fluidly across genres while maintaining the sweeping, emotional intensity that has defined Seven Lions‘ music for over a decade.

The single arrives as Seven Lions prepares to bring the world of Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars to stages across North America this spring. Known for his immersive production and emotionally charged performances, the upcoming tour will see him headline some of the country’s most iconic venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Brooklyn Storehouse, and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
