We sat down with Aviella to talk about how the track came together, the story behind the vocals, and her evolving journey in electronic music.

Thanks for doing this! Can you tell our readers a little about you?
Hey Rave Jungle! I’m Aviella – singer, songwriter, and DJ based in Los Angeles originally from upstate New York. I’ve been making music for as long as I can remember and over the past few years that’s grown into collaborating across the electronic space and building my own project, blending emotional storytelling with dance music!
I’m so grateful to have had records chart, worked with artists I’ve looked up to, and performed on some incredible stages. At the core of it, I’m focused on making music that connects with people.
Let’s chat about your latest track, BY MY SIDE, produced with ANAYA, also known as the Colombian superstar DJ and producer Esther Anaya. How did that relationship come together?
ANAYA is incredibly talented and I’m so happy to be alongside her on this song!! We met about a year ago at Miami Music Week, and that connection carried over creatively! ANAYA had written this record and reached out to me to do the vocals, and it felt instantly aligned.
I was really drawn to the emotion and atmosphere of the track, so it really became about translating that feeling in a way that felt honest and meaningful. We both leaned into the idea of making it feel like a duet between her violin and my voice like they’re in conversation with each other, carrying the same feeling in two different ways!
You and ANAYA bring a lot of skill sets to producing since you’re both DJs as well, how do you balance the process? Anything specific in the track you can ID as your piece of it for listeners, such as ANAYA’s the recognizable ribbons of violins found in her sound?
I think being DJs gives us a shared understanding of energy and movement, which makes the process feel very intuitive. For me, my role was really in shaping the emotion through the vocal.
I like to shift my tone throughout the song depending on where we are emotionally, so it feels like it’s evolving rather than staying in one place! That was super important for this track, especially alongside her violin so it feels like they’re interacting and building the feeling together.
You’ve been in the scene a long time, how has the music you are making today evolved since your earliest days?
I started making music at a really young age, playing guitar and teaching myself piano by ear…I spent a lot of time experimenting across genres. I eventually found my way into dance music because it gave me the space to combine emotion with energy.
Now that I’ve started DJing, my approach has shifted a lot!! I’m not only writing, I’m creating with my sets in mind, thinking about how the music moves in a live environment.
What’s next for you, summer tour, DJ sets, more music? Any live performances of the track?
All of the above!!! More DJ sets, more music, and more live moments!!!
A really special moment was performing “By My Side” with ANAYA at the EDM Awards this year, which felt incredibly full circle since we met just a year prior at Miami Music Week. It made the whole collaboration feel even more meaningful…I’d love to keep bringing the track to life in more live settings, so stay tuned!
