While performing at a dance club in the central Mexican city of San Luis Potosi, Israeli electronic dance music DJ Ronen Dahan, who is also known as Perplex, was shot to death by unidentified gunmen that entered the nightclub and opened fire. Three other people were wounded in the attack and two fatalities were confirmed from the incident.

According to a statement from San Luis Potosi attorney general’s office, a group of armed men entered the club in the south of the city early on Saturday and opened fire, killing Dahan and wounding three others. One other victim died on the way to the hospital. The motive for the attack is still unknown. After the shooting, the armed men escaped on foot and their whereabouts are unknown.

The attack occurred towards the end of his tour of Mexico and has shocked the music world. Videos of his tour have shown dancefloors rocking during his performances, with people jumping up and down. Perplex had been taking to social media to display his love for Mexico and the many things to love about it including tacos.

In one social media post, he spoke about his anticipation for his Mexico tour by stating “I’m so excited to come to one of my favorite place [sic] in the world…Mexico here I come.”

Perplex was a talented artist that has released many albums and has gone on multiple world tours. He was a decorated and distinguished artist and his loss will sting the hearts of the dance music community for years to come. There will be a void without this talented artist, but his music will live on forever and will be rocked in his memory forever more.
