Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are once again voted world’s best DJ’s

The DJ MAG TOP 100 was announced last night at the Amsterdam Dance Event. According to the DJ poll organised annually by the British magazine DJ Mag, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike can once again claim the title of world’s best DJs.

The Belgian super duo knocked their Dutch colleague Martin Garrix out of first place, restoring the brothers to the top position that they previously held in in 2015.

The surprise was plain to see on the brothers’ faces last night at the Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF). Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are officially the best DJ’s worldwide. More than a million people cast their votes, placing Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike in the number-one spot in the DJ Mag Top 100. It is the second time that the DJ-duo get to claim the title of best and most popular DJs in the world.

Here’s what they had to say about winning the award:

Dimitri Vegas: “I have to ‘pinch myself’. Winning the award in 2015 was really cool, but now it means so much more because we’ve been working so hard in recent years and we’ve grown as artists, as a family and as a team, but above all, as a ‘music scene’ that has undergone such tremendous exponential growth, in general.”

Like Mike: “That so many people worldwide have helped us, every step of the way, and have re-elected us as their #1 DJs is such a fantastic compliment. So, a big thanks to our fans, from Willebroek and Boom to South America, India and the rest of the world.”

In 2011, the brothers landed a spot on the list for the first time: in 79th place. Things have moved incredibly fast since then. In 2013, they broke into the top ten, and a year later, in 2014, they were already considered the next-best DJs in the world.

In 2015, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike were ranked #1 DJ’s in the world for the first time. Then, for three years, they had to step aside for the Dutch star DJ Martin Garrix, but as of 2019, they are once again back on top. Martin Garrix is in second place this year, by the way, and the top three is completed by David Guetta, followed by Armin van Buren and the American DJ and producer Marshmello.

With their Platinum Hit “Instagram” that they released together with David Guetta & Afrobros just in time for summer, the brothers conquered the charts in every corner of the world with the “Latin Vibes” courtesy of world-famous stars Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha. Plus, the track reached over 200,000,000 streams on the streaming platforms. Add to that their own e-sports team, a solo-project for Mike, some nice cameo roles in movies and their own playable character in the popular fighting game Mortal Kombat 11 for Dimitri Vegas – and it’s clear that jack-of-all-trades doesn’t begin to describe these boys.

The busy summer (festival) season may be behind them, but the Thivaios brothers are about to launch a jam-packed tour. That’s because the Belgian concept ‘Tomorrowland Presents Garden of Madness‘ will be making its American debut. On November 2, the golden Amare-bird will land in New York for an exclusive show at the New York Expo Center.

In December, the Tomorrowland production team will fly to Liverpool. In collaboration with the famous English festival Creamfields, the stage from club Ushuaïa (Ibiza) will be constructed at ‘Steel Yard’, one of the most iconic venues in the Liverpool, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike will provide a spectacular show.

The international tour will end in Belgium. On December 20 and 21, the duo will be appearing at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp and they will once again invite plenty of special guests. The production for the Belgian edition of Garden of Madness at the Sportpaleis will be provided by Tomorrowland and it promises to be as mind-blowing as it is magical. Because, one thing we already know for certain is that the breathtaking Amare-bird will be back to play a starring role in all the shows.
