Every option was considered right up to the last minute, including looking recently at rescheduling the festival for the late summer, but it has now been confirmed that PAROOKAVILLE’s gates will have to remain closed again for 2021.

The continuing Corona pandemic makes it impossible to safely hold the festival for three days with 210,000 spectators in attendance. The new dates for the sixth edition of the PAROOKAVILLE festival are July 22nd to 24th, 2022. Like last year, all ticket purchasers will have the option to choose between transferring their tickets for next year’s festival with no price increase, or returning the tickets for a refund.

In 2020, approximately 70 percent chose to transfer their tickets. Despite all the effort invested by the festival team over the last several months, the Corona pandemic continues to develop with too much uncertainty to continue planning for the festival this year.

The event organisers had already ruled out reducing the festival capacity of the most recently number of 70,000 attendees per day in order to make the permit process easier.

The PAROOKAVILLE that our ‘citizens’ know and love is a long, carefree weekend filled with friendship and wild partying. As much as we all wish for that, unfortunately it’s simply still not possible this year.

It is of course hard for us to have to cancel again in the sixth year since the festival was founded. But the health and safety of everyone involved is our priority“, explained Bernd Dicks, Co-Managing Director of Parookaville GmbH.

For months we’ve worked intensely on the implementation concept, and we’re grateful to ‘Initiative Musik’ for its assistance and federal funding support in this effort. But this unfortunately still doesn’t mitigate the financial risk of possibly having to cancel at the last minute. That risk is simply too high. So like many other event organisers, we must act now.

PAROOKAVILLE has become a major economic factor for the Lower Rhine region, so the cancellation doesn’t just cause emotional pain; it also affects many of our partners who are normally involved in the multi-million Euro production“,

Dicks continues. „We’re looking ahead now confidently to 2022, and we’re hoping that again so many of our great fans will continue their support and hold onto their tickets.

Transferring your tickets for next year’s festival can be done online again, in the same smooth fashion it went off in 2020. The process is scheduled to start up in mid-June. All the info for your ticket-rollover is available via the link.
