Burning Man emergency services bravely tried to rescue an attendee who ran straight into the flames during this year’s gathering in Black Rock City.
Shocking photographs show how fire rescue officers chased the man trying to stop him from entering the inferno, but were unable to do so. He slipped through a safety perimeter and sprinted for the flames at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
The man had to dodge a number of rangers and law enforcement personnel in order to reach the fire, which stretches approximately 50 feet into the air.
Burning Man issued a statement through its official website to say that the individual was treated on scene, transported to the on-site medical facility and airlifted to a burn treatment center. We will share more information as it becomes available.
