Afro house hitmaker, Alex Wann, links up with a key player in South Africa’s burgeoning dance music scene, Shimza, for ‘Skill Of Love’.
Dropped during their iconic B2B set at Miami Music Week and to a receptive crowd at the Pyramids Of Giza recently, Alex Wann and Shimza’s ‘Skill Of Love’ weaves boundless layers of emotion and tension into their infectious afrotech sound.
There’s a suspenseful, spacious atmosphere where an airy vocal refrain loops hypnotically while bright signature piano chords inject a sense of uplift and hope. Underneath, a subtly whirring bassline creeps in, adding a sinister edge that keeps you locked in and drives the track forward.
Alex Wann has gone from breakout talent to serious contender. His debut single ‘Milkshake’ became one of summer 2023’s most in-demand tracks, championed by the likes of Keinemusik, Diplo, Pete Tong, Carlita, and more.
In 2024, he’s continued to cement his reputation with a standout US debut (Teksupport, Factory Town) and high-profile appearances at Cercle, Panorama, Moga, and Brunch Electronik, including a massive back-to-back set with Pete Tong at Dalt Vila for IMS. Upcoming dates include performances at Tomorrowland, Pacha Ibiza, Lollapalooza Paris, So Track Boa Brazil, Mysteryland Amsterdam, CRSSD San Diego + many more.

Alex has been sound tracking his rise with heavyweight releases, including acclaimed remixes for Adriatique & Eynka on Cercle Records, Route 94’s iconic ‘My Love’, and ‘Heartless’ by WhoMadeWho & Kölsch. His recent collaboration ‘Set Me Free’ with Aaron Hibell has also made waves in the electronic scene, earning support from industry heavyweights like Adriatique and RÜFÜS DU SOL, and receiving a standout remix by CamelPhat.
Meanwhile, Shimza continues to lead South Africa’s afrohouse and afrotech charge on the global stage. The Tembisa-born talent collaborated with Elderbrook on the album Another Touch, and has worked with Aloe Blacc, CamelPhat (‘Embers’ ft. Julia Church), WhoMadeWho and house pioneer Louie Vega.
His ‘Karma Karma’ radio show, launched earlier this year, now pulls in over one million weekly listeners. Shimza also made his Boiler Room debut last year.
Shimza’s renowned label and event brand Kunye has taken over dancefloors from Zimbabwe and Kenya to London and Ibiza. Last November, Shimza went B2B with Black Coffee at a Kunye event in Johannesburg. On June 7th, Kunye returns to the UK capital, as they take over a stage at London’s ‘High Lights: Enter The Realm’ festival in Barking Park, inviting Henrick Shwarz (live), Kitty Amor, Awen, Darque and Stoffela.
