Das Mörtal unveils his highly anticipated EP, ORIGINS

Das Mörtal

Renowned dark synthwave producer Das Mörtal released his highly anticipated EP, ORIGINS on the 17 October via Lisbon Lux Records, along with the focus track ‘I Just Want To Hold You (Part I)’

Das Mörtal‘s heavyweight single ‘Falsche Daten‘ was the first single to drop from the EP, receiving support from renowned publications YourEDM, Post-Punk, and Decoded Magazine.

Boasting over 28 million streams on Spotify alone, Das Mörtal has received media and radio support across the globe. With numerous EPs and albums to his name, he has appeared at several major festivals such as Osheaga, Transmusicales de Rennes, FME, and Meg Festival, while opening on tours for the likes of Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut.

Das Mörtal‘s music has been praised by prominent industry webzines CLASH Magazine, KALTBLUT Magazine, METAL Magazine, Run The Trap, Canadian Beats, MetalSucks, Cult MTL, Le Canal Auditif, Ottawa Life Magazine, DIFFUS Magazine, VOLT Magazine, and Brutal Resonance to name a few.

Additionally, his music earned Most Added New Release on the American college radio chart Top 200 NACC, as well as landing on several influential pages on YouTube such as NewRetroWave.

Das Mörtal ORIGINS
Das Mörtal – ORIGINS

Currently based in Montréal, Das Mörtal‘s journey began in Berlin, as he drew inspiration from artists like Steve Moore and Aphex Twin. The enigmatic producer focuses on a dark and nostalgic sound, skillfully blending genres from Techno to Occult Electro to horror, sci-fi film soundtracks, Italo disco – and much more.

With ‘I Just Want To Hold You (Part I)‘, Das Mörtal showcases a more unrestrained side of his artistry, while retaining his distinct obscurity. The funk-induced track has an inescapable groove and vocoder-laced refrain that will entice fans of Daft Punk, Justice, and Kavinsky.

ORIGINS is a stellar showcase of Das Mörtal‘s power to conjure up sonic stories from the depths of grit and darkness. From the searing buzzsaw chaos of opener ‘Minimal Chainsaw‘ to the futuristic grooves of closer ‘…Now‘, the EP is an opulent feast of cerebral yet irresistibly danceable synth work.

I Just Want To Hold You (Part I)‘ sees Das Mörtal mould and customize Italo disco into a fiery, moody love ballad. With his seething interpretation, the track simultaneously transports the listener to the 80’s while firmly holding its own as a contemporary hit.

Underscored by masterful sound design, deft layering, meandering synths and a tenacious beat, the single proves that Das Mörtal can in fact, do anything.

Here’s what Das Mörtal had to say:

“ORIGINS as a whole is made up of tracks that delve in my past creations but that are still relevant today because they still represent the wide spectrum of music I’m still exploring and crafting.”

Skyline Festival Announces 2026 Dates and New Los Angeles Venue

Insomniac’s Skyline Festival announces the dates and new downtown Los Angeles home for its 2026 edition. Produced by Insomniac’s Factory 93, Skyline’s fifth anniversary will be celebrated at Ace*Mission Studios, uniting world-class electronic music talent alongside local innovators in the heart of the city.

Over the past four years, Skyline has built its foundation on connecting Los Angeles‘ underground spirit with the global electronic music community. The festival has cultivated a culture of forward-thinking curation, championing breakthrough acts and visionaries redefining modern house and techno.

Previous editions have featured international acts like Carl Cox, Charlotte de Witte, Dom Dolla, Peggy Gou, Michael Bibi, Marco Carola, Seth Troxler, and Honey Dijon, while spotlighting LA scene shapers such as Bianca Oblivion, Trax Unit, James Axon, Annika Wolfe, and Capes, on its community-driven Arts District stage introduced in 2025.

Skyline Festival 2026
Skyline Festival 2026

In 2026, Skyline moves to the expansive Ace*Mission Studios, transforming the venue into a two-day celebration of underground sound and culture. Set along the LA River and bordering the city’s storied Arts District, Ace*Mission’s industrial character and proximity to the heart of LA’s thriving electronic scene makes it a natural new home for Skyline – one that reflects the city’s enduring connection to the underground.

Originally built by the Anderson family as a beverage distribution hub, Ace*Mission Studios has been reimagined as a creative campus at the center of a burgeoning neighborhood. Long before its rebirth, this pocket of downtown served as a meeting point for LA’s underground – where music, art, and community found refuge in its network of clandestine warehouses.

Skyline invites fans into a two-day journey centered around music, light and art installations, and local food options – an immersive experience that embodies the vibrant spirit of LA’s creative community.

Returning for 2026 are the festival’s West Side, East Side, and Arts District stages, joined by a new addition, The Warehouse stage. As another tribute to LA’s underground, which lives in both open-air spaces and industrial warehouse interiors, the new indoor stage expands the experience to over ten hours of music per day and more than sixty artists, marking Skyline‘s most ambitious sonic offering yet.

The energy will continue long after the main stages close – with official afterparties taking place inside Ace*Mission Studios warehouse, announced closer to the event.

Skyline‘s Stage Access Ticket offering – offering fans backstage access to three of the festival’s four stages – returns with an expanded experience for 2026. Stage Access Ticket holders will enjoy a private festival entrance, top-shelf bar selections, premium air-cooled restroom suites, elevated culinary offerings, a backstage lounge, and dedicated concierge service.

Two-day GA, VIP, and Stage Access festival passes will be available for purchase beginning October 17 at 12pm PT. Fans will also have an opportunity at an early jump on passes via the Ticket Presale beginning October 17 at 11am PT by signing up at the link here.

Hi Alphones, how are you?

I’m doing really well, thank you! It’s been an exciting period in the studio, and I feel very motivated about the projects I’m currently working on.

Can you share any upcoming releases that are currently in the pipeline?

Yes, I have three tracks lined up that I’m really proud of: ‘Inner Call,’ ‘On House,’ and ‘Funky Talks.’ Each of them highlights a different side of my sound while staying true to my groove-driven, house-focused identity.

Is there one track or project you’re particularly excited about unveiling soon?

I’d say ‘Funky Talks’ has a special energy. It really captures that raw, playful vibe I love to bring to the dancefloor, and I think it will connect strongly with audiences.

How would you describe the sound or direction of your forthcoming material?

My upcoming tracks push further into the intersection of soulful grooves, tech textures, and driving rhythms. I always aim for music that works in a club, but also has layers of detail that keep it interesting beyond the dancefloor.

Are you currently focused on standalone singles, or are you aiming to put together a larger body of work, like an EP?

For now, I’m focusing on standalone singles. I feel each track tells its own story and releasing them individually allows me to give every project the right spotlight. But in the future, an EP is definitely something I’d like to build towards.

Are there any collaborations on the horizon that you can talk about?

At the moment, I’m mainly focused on solo projects. Collaboration is something I’d love to explore more, but I’m careful to make sure it feels natural and aligned with my sound.

Beyond the studio, are there any other creative projects you’re currently exploring?

Yes, I also work in the field of interior design and home furnishing, which I find very inspiring. Balancing music and design give me fresh creative perspectives that often cross-influence one another.

When it comes to building deeper connections with your listeners, how are you approaching this through your current work?

For me, it’s about honesty in the music and keeping the groove authentic. I want my listeners to feel that connection on the dancefloor, but also through storytelling on social media and interviews like this, where I can share more about the process behind the tracks.

Do you have any plans to explore remix work – either reworking other artists’ tracks or inviting remixes of your own material?

Absolutely, remixing is something I’m very interested in. It’s a great way to reinterpret sounds and connect with other artists. I’d also love to see some of my upcoming tracks reimagined by producers whose work I admire.

Looking ahead, what excites you most about where you’re heading next within Electronic Music?

I’m excited to keep refining my sound and sharing it with more people around the world. The scene is always evolving, and I want to be part of that evolution while staying true to the house roots that inspire me.

As Alphones continues to evolve his sound, his creative energy and clear sense of direction remain firmly in focus. With new tracks primed for the dancefloor and a forward-facing yet roots-driven approach shaping his process, this next chapter marks a defining moment in his journey.

So, be sure to keep up with this Producer and DJ and follow him across social media to catch the newest releases, projects and performances from Alphones.

Inside the Mind of MORTEN: From Global Tours to the Future of Electronic Music

Morten

Few artists have shaped the modern sound of dance music quite like MORTEN. The Danish DJ and producer, best known for co-creating the Future Rave movement alongside David Guetta, continues to redefine the boundaries of electronic music while touring relentlessly across the globe.

With his latest single “LUCKY” making waves on streaming platforms and a headline appearance locked in for ULTRA Miami 2026, MORTEN shows no signs of slowing down.

Speaking to us from Taichung, Taiwan, amid a busy tour schedule, MORTEN opens up about his creative process, his collaboration with Guetta, and how he manages to stay inspired while living life in constant motion.

Check out the full interview below!

MORTEN, thanks for joining us for this interview. You’ve had a packed schedule lately — where are you speaking to us from today? Are you on tour, relaxing at home, or enjoying some downtime?

Hey man, thank you for having me! I’m currently in Taichung, it’s a city out here in Taiwan! Just playing some shows and enjoying the city.

With a relentless tour schedule and a steady stream of new releases, how do you find balance and keep everything running smoothly?

Yes, this has been a fun year for sure, you’re correct, it’s nonstop. I have a great team around who help me balance it all, and I just really love what I’m doing, so that helps a lot! These are the things you dream about when you’re starting out in your career.

MORTEN Interview
MORTEN

Your latest track “LUCKY” with David Guetta is doing really well on the streaming charts and downloads. Can you tell us more about this?

It’s always a great feeling when a song resonates with fans, so I appreciate all the streams and listens. You should see when I play it live, what an amazing reaction I’ve been getting from the crowd!

So on LUCKY, David Guetta and I worked on it over the summer, and we had a lot of fun testing it in our sets. We wrote the vocal using AI, which was quite a new and interesting challenge, but it was all worth it in the end.

The production itself has our signature sound and touch in the lead, but I would say it’s in a more lighthearted universe than what fans know of our Future Rave sounds, usually.

Ultra recently announced their Phase 1 of ULTRA Miami 2026 lineup and you’re a headlining artist again. What does that mean to you?

That’s a huge one for me, since playing ULTRA is always a massive opportunity for me to reach a wider audience.

Being in Miami at that time of year is something I look forward to, with so much of the community present as well, and we’re making our debut with this special B2B set with Deorro and Mike Posner, so all of us will be working extremely hard to have something very special planned for Ultra 2026!

As 2025 wraps up and 2026 approaches, what exciting things can your fans expect from you?

More music always. I’m finalizing a remix that I really love, and then preparing for a packed schedule to end the year with hopefully some super fun shows alongside other DJs that I love!

Paul Kalkbrenner Returns With First Album In Seven Years: “The Essence”

Legendary German artist Paul Kalkbrenner returns with his first new album in seven years: THE ESSENCE, out now via Sony Music / B1.

THE ESSENCE is an album that serves as an archive of personal states of being. Created over several years, partly in the studio, partly in a Berlin apartment somewhere between mid-century modern and ’70s luxury, with real tungsten bulbs, vintage televisions, palm trees, and a mix of stone, wood, and fur. THE ESSENCE is Paul Kalkbrenner‘s first album since 2018’s Parts of Life and also the most stripped-down, organic, and personal work of his career.

“Many of the songs were made during a time when I wasn’t planning to release an album at all,” says Kalkbrenner. “I had actually finished with album making, but then I realized how nice it is to have something that connects everything again.”

A connection that doesn’t rely on a concept but on an attitude. Because THE ESSENCE avoids grand gestures and instead is full of musical precision, sounds with patina, and melodies from old drafts that were never released until now.

“Some of the stuff on here, I wouldn’t even come up with today because it’s so unfiltered. But that’s exactly what makes it strong.”

Paul Kalkbrenner The Essence album
Paul Kalkbrenner The Essence

Much of it was created in the apartment, which could almost be called a coauthor of the album. A place that feels more like an analog sound lab than a modern producer studio.

“I didn’t want neon lights, no screens, no tech overload,” says Kalkbrenner. Instead: dimmed light, vintage furniture, cozy fabrics, and tons of music history in the form of instruments, collectibles, and sound sources. “I just sat there for hours, tinkering, without a plan but with a feeling.” The atmosphere of the apartment is audibly woven into the tracks: warm, intricate, and idiosyncratic.

With the single “NINETY – TWO,” Paul Kalkbrenner introduced the album in July, a track like a lost memory: 130 BPM, hypnotic groove, a vocal sample pulled from the collective rave consciousness. Even before its official release, the track had become a fan favorite at festivals and in club sets, just like the second single, “QUE CE SOIT CLAIR.” A collaboration with Stromae, whose roots go back a long way. Back in 2009, Kalkbrenner created a remix for Stromae‘s single “Te Quiero.”

Now they reunite as equals, old friends who never lost touch. “QUE CE SOIT CLAIR” is one of the most direct tracks on the album: hard four-to-the-floor kicks, pulsating synths, paired with Stromae‘s intense spoken vocals. The title translates as “Let that be clear,” and that’s exactly what it’s about. A love that knows no boundaries. No nations, no origins, no categories. What matters is the connection between two people.

Musically, THE ESSENCE is as diverse as it is atmospherically cohesive. “DREAMING ON,” for example, carries an ’80s vibe, driven by a pulsing bassline and a stoic loop that invites you to keep dreaming, no matter what comes.

DER SCHLÖRHEINZ,” on the other hand, bursts through the speakers with untamed energy, raw, direct, almost defiant.

CRONITIS BOY” hums with wonderfully warm, rich beats and subtle string sounds that break through like sunrays through a cloudy sky. Each song on THE ESSENCE reveals a different facet without losing the thread: the pursuit of clarity, depth, and a sound that is complete in itself.

The title THE ESSENCE might suggest reduction, but it means something else. “It’s about what’s essential,” says Kalkbrenner. “This is an album I can fully stand behind. I consider it my best. There might be more well-known hits on the other albums, but always two or three filler tracks too. This one has no filler. Not even a filler moment.”

Paul Kalkbrenner has had a career like almost no one else. A techno talent who rose over two decades from the underground to the top of the charts, acted in a cult film, made headlines at festivals, and captivated millions of fans, all without compromising his unique sound.

Born in 1977, raised during the first rave wave of the ’90s, he began producing music early and preferred playing live to DJing. By the time Berlin Calling and the single Sky & Sand came out, he had become an icon. An artist between club, cinema screen, and mainstage, never swayed by trends.

Eight albums, sold out arena tours, headliner slots at Tomorrowland, and an invitation by the German government to perform in front of 400,000 people for the Berlin Wall anniversary and now, with The Essence, an album that reconciles past and present without falling into nostalgia.

Alok Makes History at Tomorrowland Brasil 2025 with an Epic Drone Show

Brazilian superstar DJ and producer Alok once again pushed boundaries at Tomorrowland Brasil with a groundbreaking performance featuring over 1,000 drones soaring above the festival’s iconic Mainstage.

A teaser video released in late September on Tomorrowland‘s official channels, in collaboration with the artist, had already hinted at what would become one of the most ambitious shows in the festival’s history.

Alok‘s relationship with Tomorrowland runs deep. As the festival’s official ambassador in Brazil, he has consistently delivered performances that blend cutting-edge technology with emotional storytelling.

Last year, he amazed the audience with a stunning aerial show featuring 600 drones above Parque Maeda, synchronized with fireworks, lasers, and lights. Co-produced with Tomorrowland, the show became a landmark moment in electronic music and was voted “Best Performance of 2024” at the Electronic Dance Music Awards (EDMAs).

A post shared by Alok (@alok)

This time, Alok broke the Latin American record for the largest use of drones in a live music performance, with more than 1,000 choreographed drones that took his October 12 set to new heights.

The show was the result of a close collaboration between Alok‘s creative team and Tomorrowland‘s production, delivering a multisensory experience that redefined what’s possible in live entertainment.

“Tomorrowland is more than fireworks, stages, and shows,” Alok said during his most recent performance at Tomorrowland Belgium. “It’s the energy and the vibration we carry with us, no matter where we are. It’s about rejecting the idea of the impossible.”

Alok‘s presence at Tomorrowland has become a symbol of cultural representation. He has brought Brazil to the forefront of the global electronic scene, proving that music can be a powerful bridge between cultures, languages, and dreams.

With this historic performance, Alok did more than play a set. He wrote a new chapter in the story of electronic music. His partnership with Tomorrowland continues to inspire and innovate, showing how art and technology can come together to create unforgettable moments.

Mochakk reimagines PinkPantheress’ ‘Noises’

Brazilian DJ and producer Mochakk keeps the momentum going with another fresh release, unveiling his remix of PinkPantheress’s single ‘Noises’.

The collaboration pairs one of electronic music’s fastest-rising talents with one of the UK’s most exciting acts. Mochakk‘s remix of ‘Noises‘ highlights both artists’ versatile and unique sounds, integrating futuristic textures, dreamy vocals, UK flair, and Mochakk’s unmistakable groove.

Mochakk comments about the new release:

“When I was producing this track, I saw it as a conversation between my sound and PinkPantheress’s vocals and rhythms from the original. ‘Noises’ gave me the perfect playground to explore all these new textures and directions.

I think fans will hear something they recognize but also walk away with moments they didn’t expect, and those surprises are exactly what I love to bring into a remix.”

Mochakk Noises remix

The new release builds on a landmark year for Mochakk. In September, he celebrated the one-year anniversary of his nightclub OBLIQO with a one-day festival in his native Brazil. This October 4, his Mochakk Calling event series made its Sydney debut as part of his first-ever Australian tour. And on November 15, he caps it all off headlining an already sold-out, 10,000-capacity show in Los Angeles at the iconic Hollywood Boulevard.

Mochakk‘s take on PinkPantheress‘s ‘Noises‘ marks yet another highly awaited moment for the breakthrough electronic music artist, standing out within his growing catalogue of productions and high-profile collaborations.

With lush melodies and a laid-back energy, yet layered with breakbeat and alt-pop influences woven into his house-driven sound, the remix adds another highlight to a defining year for Mochakk.
