Mysteryland celebrates final edition in its current iconic form

Next month, Mysteryland will celebrate the very last edition in its current iconic form, closing this chapter with an impressive grand finale. Following this upcoming edition in August, organizer ID&T will pause the festival in 2026 to reshape the future. As one of the biggest and longest-running festivals in the Netherlands, Mysteryland has been a staple at the end of the summer season for over thirty years.

This year’s edition takes place from Friday, August 22 to Sunday, August 24 at the former Floriade grounds in Haarlemmermeer. As always, ID&T is pulling out all the stops to deliver an unforgettable weekend, with large-scale production, creative stage designs, and a solid lineup featuring Marlon Hoffstadt, Hardwell, Benwal, Indira Paganotto, Eric Prydz, Adriatique and many more top acts from the Netherlands and beyond.

Following the legendary end show of last year that set a new standard in festival finales, the organization is set to close this chapter with another grand finale integrated with even more drones compared to last year, fireworks, pyrotechnics, 3D visuals, lasers and more.

The renowned end shows at Mysteryland‘s mainstage will push the boundaries of imagination and technology. This year, Mysteryland promises an even more spectacular finale, leaving audiences in awe with the Saturday End show with Hardwell and on Sunday an impressive, drone-infused, Mysteryland end show.

All of this will take place at the iconic pyramid, which serves as the backdrop for this year’s mainstage. Expect dancing people as far as the eye can see, a swirling mass of collective energy.

This will be the final opportunity for fans to experience the festival in its current iconic form. As the world’s longest-running dance festival, the team behind Mysteryland feels a strong responsibility to deliver the highest possible standard to its fans: cutting-edge production, bold stage designs, immersive shows, and the best artists; all set in one of the most stunning festival locations in the country.

But with this ambition also comes a challenge. Over the past years, event production costs have surged – nearly doubling since the pandemic – from materials to beverage procurement and staffing. Meanwhile, audience preferences are evolving faster than ever. This calls for bold ideas and revolutionary thinking. And that level of innovation requires time and space, something that’s difficult to find when simultaneously producing a full-scale festival.

“When we moved from Ruigoord to the Floriade site back in 2003, that was also a moment of reinvention. It gave us the space to evolve Mysteryland into what it is today. We’re certainly not planning to say goodbye to this unique and special location, but honestly, it’s refreshing to be able to reimagine such an iconic festival from the ground up and take the time to do it right.

ID&T has been creating events for decades, and it’s precisely by constantly adapting to the times that we’ve stayed relevant for so long. Mysteryland has represented innovation in the festival world since 1993 – and as far as we’re concerned, it will continue to do so for the next 30 years,” says a spokesperson for Mysteryland.

Mysteryland has undergone many metamorphoses over the past 32 years, and after upcoming edition it’s time for the next one.

Awakenings reveals new location and full lineups for ADE 2025

This year, Awakenings breaks new ground – literally. From Wednesday October 22 to Sunday October 26 Awakenings descends on a new venue to host 7 shows. With this new location, Awakenings goes back to the essence.

An empty warehouse and a killer sound system. For the first time ever, Sugarfactory, a former 19th-century sugar refinery in the industrial west of Amsterdam, will open its doors to techno.

Originally built in 1863, this raw, unpolished landmark has never before been used for a rave, making ADE 2025 a milestone both for the building and for the dance scene. Awakenings is proud to be the first and only promoter to host a techno event in this historic space.

At the heart of the venue is a towering, open central hall: concrete floors, an industrial high-pitched roof, and a dramatic balcony structure partially suspended above the dance floor. The result? A layered, expansive layout with excellent views of the stage from multiple levels.

Beyond the main room, the Sugarfactory offers a maze of additional spaces, corridors, nooks, and side rooms that will be transformed into chill-out zones and places to disappear off to. The building’s architectural character is uncompromisingly raw. Its sheer scale and gritty elegance promise a dance experience unlike any other.

Sunday Night 26 October 2025 – Exhale by Amelie Lens

Vintage Culture Taps Summer Heat With ‘Do You’

Brazilian heavyweight Vintage Culture makes his next summer statement with a searing new three track EP on Solomun’s visionary label, Diynamic Music.

The release sees the superstar producer turn his Midas touch towards darker club instincts, with the lead single ‘Do You‘ setting the tone through a menacing, rave-ready approach. Proving yet again that Vintage Culture is prime for both the charts and depths of night, the new EP is a dazzling first impression on Diynamic Music.

Leading the charge is ‘Do You‘, an aggressive, no-frills instrumental built for the hours that you lose yourself on the dancefloor, only to come out the other side soaked in sweat with a beautiful blur of memories.

It’s a change of pace for Vintage Culture, who’s built much of his reputation on an ability to climb the charts with vocally driven cuts. The release carries on with ‘Space‘, which rips through the atmosphere with a tech leaning edge, percolating rhythms, and a subtle melody.

Offering a simple and nuanced B-side, the EP also delivers ‘Âme Et L’Or‘ with singer songwriter Malou. The track sees Vintage Culture lean on his production mastery, constructing a fully-realized tune from a kit of individually understated elements. The result is an electro-inspired burner that is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

With entry granted through food donations, the events highlight his commitment to giving back and making dance music accessible to all. As the ‘Do You‘ EP lands via Diynamic Music, Brazilian fans can look ahead to September for a celebration in São Paulo like no other.

Paul Kalkbrenner Announces Album “The Essence”, With New Single ‘Ninety-Two’

What would 1992 sound like today if the sound had never changed? Paul Kalkbrenner’s new single “Ninety – Two” offers a possible answer: 130 BPM, a hypnotic groove, and a vocal sample pulled straight from the collective rave memory. It’s the perfect entry point into his new album “The Essence” and already a live favorite at his shows ahead of its release.

The sample – once featured on countless UK rave compilations in the ’90s – is, for Kalkbrenner, a piece of scene history in a new context. “Ninety – Two” is not retro nostalgia, but a what-if scenario: “The track sounds as if that sound had simply continued evolving to the present day without interruption.”

Stripped-down, almost instrumental, grounded in the now “Ninety – Two” is a tribute to a sound that never truly disappeared. A track like a lost memory, and at the same time, a bold statement marking the start of the new album “The EssenceKalkbrenner‘s first album since “Parts of Life” (2018), set for release in September.

Paul Kalkbrenner Ninety Two
Paul Kalkbrenner – Ninety-Two

Created over several years inside an apartment that sits stylistically somewhere between mid-century modern and 1970s luxury, with real tungsten bulbs, vintage TVs, palm trees, and a mix of stone, wood, and fur, “The Essence” is a collection of organically grown tracks.

“Many songs were made during a time when I wasn’t even planning an album,” says Kalkbrenner. “I had basically moved on from making albums, but then I realized how nice it is to have something with a larger sense of cohesion again.”

The title “The Essence” may sound like minimalism – but it means something else entirely:

“It’s about the essential. This is an album I can truly stand behind. I consider it my best.” Kalkbrenner says. “Sure, there may be more well-known hits on my other albums, but there were always two or three filler tracks. This one doesn’t have a single filler. Not even a filler moment!”

Berlin-born Paul Kalkbrenner has had a career like no other. A techno talent who rose from the underground to the top of the charts over two decades, starred in a cult film, made headlines at festivals, and thrilled millions of fans – without ever compromising his powerful sound.

Born the year the Berlin Wall fell and raised amid the first wave of ’90s rave culture, he began producing music early – and always preferred playing live to DJing. By the time Berlin Calling and the single “Sky & Sand” were released, he had become an icon: a unique artist bridging club culture, cinema, and main stage, never swayed by trends.

Eight albums, sold-out arena tours, headline slots at Tomorrowland, and an invitation from the German government to perform for 400,000 people at the Berlin Wall anniversary – Paul Kalkbrenner hasn’t just shaped electronic music; he’s redefined its boundaries.
