GORDO unveils his latest release with a remix of the smash hit ‘Cenere’ by Lazza

GORDO unveils his latest release with a remix of the smash hit ‘Cenere’ by Italian rapper Lazza. With his high-paced dance remix of ‘Cenere’, the Nicaraguan-American DJ/Producer once again shows his ability to fuse musical styles from across the globe following his recent release of summer favorite ‘Parcera’ together with Colombian superstar Maluma.

Premiered at Nameless Festival in June together with Lazza himself, GORDO‘s high energy remix of ‘Cenere‘ has turned the song into an exciting, bouncy club track, crafted to suit the dancefloors of clubs and festivals across the globe.

With this release, GORDO once again proves why he is one of the most in demand DJs and producers in electronic music today, following productions with the likes of Drake, Feid, El Alfa and Maluma alongside sold-out dates across North and South America, Europe, and Asia this summer.

The Italian chart-topping Rap / Pop song has gotten a complete overhaul, boasting a dance-infused tempo that surges beyond 140 bpm. GORDO‘s take on ‘Cenere‘ kicks off with a pumping baseline featuring a 90’s flare and a kick drum that propels the beat far beyond its original, slower pace, before gradually introducing Lazza‘s vocals during the track’s break. Lazza‘s sped-up vocals lead into a whirlwind of percussion followed by a bouncing melody that reignites the track’s excitement and keeps the energy soaring.

X-Press 2 announce brand new album ‘Thee’ alongside the drop of their latest single Zeven

‘Thee’ is the vital duo’s fifth LP release and the first on the label they signed to earlier this year. They have already dropped two singles from the album and now unveil another nine fresh cuts that continue their creative purple patch, following recent remixes for Gabriels and David Holmes.

It comes after years of defining the sound of the underground with a mix of powerhouse club tracks and catchy songs, most famously their Ivor Novello Award-winning Lazy ft David Byrne. Whether crafting for the club, the radio, or the catwalk and brands like Givenchy, Rocky & Diesel continue to showcase the pioneering spirit that has been with them since the early 90s. ‘Thee’ is beefy, fad-free house music stripped back but full of flavour, emotional nuance and well-used vocal fragments.

Say Rocky & Diesel of this latest musical chapter – “We’re so excited to be releasing ‘Thee’ with Acid Jazz. It’s been a long time coming, and some of the tracks have been with us for around ten years now. So it’s fantastic to finally get them finished and pulled together with a bunch of new tunes to form an entirely new album.“

The excellent ‘Moov‘ kicks off this comprehensive sonic statement with a deep, pared-back house rhythm underpinned by signature fat bass. Deft vocal coos, subtle strings, and distant FX bring the detail that keeps you locked, while the new single ‘Zeven‘ plays with a funky disco loop that teases throughout. It never resolves and will ensure natural dance floor rapture. ‘Phasing You Out‘ then offers sweaty and steamy basement grooves with a tender vocal over powerful dusty drums.

The second single, ‘Muse‘, is a more introverted and heartbroken sound and ‘Can I See The Love‘ picks things up with supersized drums and smoke-filled dance floor intensity. ‘The Rain‘ veers into techno with twisted acid lines spraying about amongst church-like chords and dense percussion.

After the stomping tribal energy of the first single ‘You Know (Everybody)’ comes the zoned-out, post-rush house of ‘Reach For Me‘ and more elastic rhythms of ‘Cope‘. ‘Bloom‘ has freewheeling melodies that allow the floor to cut loose, and ‘Werq‘ layers up undulating synths and earworm leads into expressive and storytelling house for the back room.

Thee’ proves that X-Press 2 once again shuns the legacy act status and continues innovating at the electronic underground’s sharp end.

X-Press 2’s ‘Thee’ is released on Acid Jazz on the 6th of October on digital, vinyl and CD formats.

anamē release their debut album ‘Beautiful World’

Scandinavian production duo anamē release their debut album ‘Beautiful World’, out now on Anjunabeats.

The collaborative work of Marcus Schössow and Thomas Sagstad reaches its latest apex with ‘Beautiful World,’ an album that the pair have envisioned since first meeting at a house party in Helsingborg, Sweden, over two decades ago. Following on from solo work with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, and Kaskade over the last ten years, the duo’s debut album is the latest milestone in their expansive discographies.

Like their careers, their album is not without its share of great collaborators. The title track ‘Beautiful World’ features the voice of Steve Smith, widely known as a member of the GRAMMY-winning act Dirty Vegas. The track is a six-minute-long melodic burner that really is a highlight of the album and serves as a good representation of the different parts of other tracks on the project all rolled into one.

“I love Steve,” Sagstad says. “I worked with him four years ago on another record with Sultan + Shepard, and that was like a dream come true for me. This one is called Beautiful World, it’s the title record, and I think he encapsulates all of it.”

Another addition to the album is ‘Hurt You’. The track dates back several years and features the vocals of fellow Swede Lya Adams, and is a collaboration with AN21, a stalwart of SIZE records and brother to Steve Angello.

“It started while I was in Stockholm with Antoine and Philip (AN21),” Schössow explains. “I heard a song and said, ‘that’s a cool idea’, and Antoine said, ‘that’s a demo that Steve and I worked on.’… a couple of years later, I found it again and thought, ‘man, this is a nice record’, but I wanted to take it into a different atmosphere.”

Closer’ sees the duo collaborate with Dutch indie band Vaarwell, a longtime favorite of Sagstad, under their new moniker Shobi.

“I wrote a demo on piano, just a loop,” says the Norwegian. “And I asked our label manager: can we get them to sing on something? And he sent it over to them, this easy, super-basic, simple chord thing. And they sent us back an evolved version of that with some vocals.”

Lyrics are of central importance across the record. “What is important for all the vocal songs we do is that the lyrics actually mean something to us,” Schössow says. “We’ve had plenty of really, really great demos from other writers, but the lyrics didn’t really touch us.”
This approach can be heard on ‘Gravity’, which, for Sagstad, is a cornerstone of the album.

“I love the lyrics of the hook. It goes into gravity and the meaning behind that, keeping ourselves grounded and focusing on the right thing… For us, that’s the most important thing. We don’t try to find the most poppy vocal. We try to find the vocals that feel like something we can stand behind every day.”

Schössow and Sagstad have poured their ambition, heart, and sense of adventure into the DNA of ‘Beautiful World’. Over its thirteen tracks, anamē presents, literally and figuratively, their worldview.

Singles from the album have racked up over two and a half million combined streams and over thirty thousand Shazams to date, as well as receiving support from the likes of Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Don Diablo, Oliver Heldens, Cosmic Gate, Korolova, Mees Salomé and more.

Their lead single ‘Anywhere (Road Trippin’)’ has been in the top 10 most played songs on Sirius XM BPM since June and so far their album singles have also seen extensive support across the major DSPs already landing over 30 editorial playlists.
