Burnr Returns With Nasty House Pounder ‘Molly’

Super-talented DJ and producer is back again for your listening pleasure with his latest powerful offering BURNR, concocting a chemical reaction by pouring petrol over speakers and asking his devil’s advocate on vocals for a match.

Dragging ‘Molly’ across juddering bass terrain like it has Guru Josh backwards by the infinities, the mayhem is brought to a head by a shrill synth blowing off steam post-breakdown, the Dutch one-to-watch adding squelches and squirms to his mean machinery.

A dirty, decadent, renegade stomp, ‘Molly’ probably isn’t the one to bring home to your parents. BURNR found inspiration in different sounds such as Afrojack’s Polkadots. He created the drop quite quickly, and tried to build the track around that.

BURNR is definitely one to watch, he proved it already with support by superstar DJs and producers such as Martin Garrix, Emre Cizmeci, Firebeatz, Bingo Players, just to name a few.

Kay Wilder presents his brand new track ‘Portal’ on High Contrast

Amsterdam armies of darkness – assemble! By way of a dead-eyed vocal recruiting those that wanna stay up forever, DJ and label honcho Herman-Jan Wildervank aka Kay Wilder brings a trance spectacular full of pyrotechnics and suggestive atmospherics.

A perfect blend of jubilant energy release and anxiety caused by identified forces, separated by a flick of the crossfader as if crossing from one arena room to another, ‘Creatures’ creates dancefloor cinema.

A clear case of Wilder by name and nature as he hits the highest of highs while doing the dirty work, bringing audiences under his complete control.

The year 2022 seems to be an interesting year for the Dutchman, with a pocket full of fresh releases to be send out into the world on the notorious High Contrast imprint under Be Yourself Music, starting from March onwards.

In addition to his artist projects, Kay runs his own music company and record label, Epic247, a boutique full-service artist agency providing artist management, artist development, label management, publishing, marketing, touring and events. Enrico Sangiuliano shares details of his debut NINETOZERO SOLO event!

Enrico Sangiuliano has proved to be a breakthrough talent in the contemporary dance music space in recent years, finding equal comfort and success both in the studio and behind the decks. Having recently announced the forthcoming arrival of his 10-chapter transient record label, the techno phenomenon now shares details of the imprint’s counterpart event series – NINETOZERO SOLO – as he prepares to unveil the first opus, #9 (“Silence”) in the label’s countdown saga.

Enrico‘s correlative SOLO event series will extend the label’s narrative and ethos into an immersive live experience that highlights the evanescent beauty of music and club culture. From start to finish, from silence to silence, the dance music maestro will perform solo with unbridled musicality, selecting tracks that free his creativity from the bounds of genre and tempo.

Taking place on Saturday 11th June 2022 at the celebrated Marktkantine in Amsterdam, Enrico‘s ‘NINETOZERO SOLO #9‘ will celebrate the launch of this inspiring new project, allowing fans to experience the first collection of NINETOZERO tracks in the intended transitory setting.

Much like NINETOZERO‘s ephemeral messaging, Amsterdam’s beloved Marktkantine venue will soon be closing its doors after three decades of serving the community’s underground audiences. Due to its impending closure, the now ‘temporary’ space provides the perfect home for Enrico‘s anthemic strain of underground music, and subsequently, the label’s objection to the notion of perpetual records. Curating an all-night-long series through which to share his NINETOZERO chapters, Enrico aims to challenge the listening habits of modern techno-heads and provide them with a fleeting moment of bliss to cherish.

Ferry Corsten launches global What The F Tour with exclusive NFT drop

ferry corsten
via Sean Nunley

Dance legend Ferry Corsten is to mark his groundbreaking new What The F live tour with an exclusive drop on RCRDSHP entitled Ferry Corsten presents What the F.

It includes a limited edition NFT of the keyboard he used right at the start of his career on some of his biggest hits which will be available for all his fans to grab, plus an exclusive new track, edits of huge remixes of his most timeless tracks by some legendary names in the dance world as well as virtual tour merch for meta-ravers, backstage moments from the kick-off of the show and much more. It lands on May 25th when What the F takes over his weekly show Resonation Radio on A State of Trance with various studio guests.

By any measure, Ferry Corsten is an electronic dance music titan. Ever since his debut album Out of the Blue under his trance music alias System F in 1999 topped the UK singles charts, he has been defining and redefining electronic dance music around the world. To prove this, Ferry was recently knighted by the Dutch king for his contribution to the country’s music industry, an honour only two other Dutchman DJs have ever received.

Over more than 20 years he has remixed everyone from U2 to Duran Duran to Justin Bieber, and has made widescreen and cinematic albums like 2017’s ‘Blueprint‘, soundtracks to movie thrillers like ‘Don’t Go‘ and has headed up his charity project UNITY while collaborating with fellow legends like Paul Oakenfold, BT, Ilan Bluestone and Sander van Doorn.

As the longest-serving Dutch DJ in the annual DJ Mag Top 100 poll over the last decade, he is no stranger to the world’s biggest stages from Tomorrowland to EDC Las Vegas and Creamfields. His ‘Resonation Radio‘ show is also an influential outlet for new music and constant proof of Ferry‘s dedication to pushing electronic music forward. Most recently, his piano house single ‘Timeout‘ with Dustin Husain on Flashover Recordings/Armada has proved the latest in a long line of classic tunes from the great Dutchman.

His all-encompassing What the F live tour kicked off at London’s Ministry of Sound on May 6th and heads all over North and South America in June and August for phase one, with phase two to follow soon. It is a career-spanning spectacle that finds Ferry playing open to close, from the first to the last record under all his different acclaimed aliases. Every tune will be one of Ferry‘s own, with numerous hits taken from his vast back catalogue of over 150 tracks. Some of this music will be remixed, rehashed and reinvented to make for an all-new and thrilling experience from this dance pioneer.

On top of all the exclusive collectibles are potential rewards from purchasing, collecting and completing sets of packs. Among them are guest list and/or backstage access to all What the F shows, free merchandise, and for NFT fans and music super fans alike, the Grand prize which is a one of a kind (mythical) NFT digital audio tape (DAT) of Ferry Corsten: Out of the Blue, the story behind his classic Out of the Blue, which was originally going to come under Ferry’s own name but instead established System F as one of dance music’s most iconic alias and topped global charts while becoming one of dance music’s biggest hits.

This first-ever Ferry Corsten drop on RCRDSHP is full of absolute treasure for fans and offers a unique chance to own some real trance history. In unison with the groundbreaking new What The F Tour, it reminds us just why the dance legend is so revered around the world.

Exclusive Interview with talented DJ and producer Squachek

Following the highly-acclaimed release of ‘No No Square’, talented DJ and producer Squachek strikes back with a new take of his Tik Tok sensation track; this time the new versions of ‘No No Square’ were produced by a stellar lineup of musicians, producers and DJs like; Chip E., Tuna Melt, Faulty Machine Recording Service, Catman John.

Each track showcases the different styles and sounds that define these artists, while these release also features a country take on the original track by Luke Morgan and Squachek himself.

With some live performances coming up and new music in the pipeline, Squachek sat down with us to tell us more about the experience of releasing this new remix pack and the idea behind it.

1. Hello Squachek! How are you?

It’s a great day in Los Angeles. Everything is going well with family and friends, and now I’m speaking with you! How much better can it get?

2. Can you tell us more about the initial idea behind ‘No No Square’?  Does this track have any specific influences or references?

I was headed past my home studio and out the door to take my daughter to school one day. She sang that line, I cracked up, and we recorded the line right then and there. I had to write a note explaining why she was late. This is LA so I figured “recording session” wouldn’t be a foreign concept. She learned the song as part of her “stranger danger” education in primary school, like a nursery rhyme kinda thing. Musically, I’m a lifelong anglophile, and I’m especially into the music of Sheffield and Manchester, which is super wonky, donky and wobbly. I think you can hear that here.

3. How did the remix project come about?

I had the idea to use a few releases to promote the idea of consent. Don’t touch without asking. I finished the track, released it, and didn’t think much about it until I was bored during lockdown. Everyone was talking about TikTok, so I figured I’d check it out.

I searched for Squachek and found there were 15,000 videos that used my No-No Square, which was a pretty nice surprise since I’d been passing the time DJing to a webcam, washing my groceries, and crying into my MIDI controller.

I think No-No Square is currently at 60 million views on TikTok, and chugging along at about 2 million views a month. I think there are another million streams or so on all the other services. As you can imagine, this wild success has allowed me to afford three trips to space, a custom built roller coaster for my cats, and releasing a remix album!

4. How come did you want to invite Tuna Melt, Chip E., Faulty Machine Recordings Service and Catman John to join you with their own remixes?

All the remixers are good friends of mine from Chicago and Los Angeles, and they’re all over the place musically. Because No-No Square is so repetitive – especially after you listen to it a zillion times as you shoot your TikTok dance – I wanted to give people the same hook in different genres. Will it result in thousands more videos of people pointing at their junk? Who knows?

5. Can you tell us more about your own remix? How did you come up with the idea for it?  What has been your favorite part of working on a remix of your own track?

I’ve always wanted to write a country song just to see if I could do it. My Boot Scootin’ Redo is more like a cover song. I was trying to come up with an idea that would be a total 180 from the original, so country came to mind. It was super fun to totally reimagine a previous track.

6. What was it like working with Luke Morgan?

Luke is an amazing vocalist and musician. I’d known him for years through his time in rock bands around California, and was excited to learn he moved into the world of country. He’s really busy as you can imagine, so it took a little prodding to get on his calendar, but when the time came, he wrote the new second verse, belted out guitar tracks and about 10 vocal tracks with harmonies in less time than it takes him to shotgun a Coors Light. Austin Hayman’s guitar arrangement pulled it all together. The sound is inspired by that kinda cowpunk aesthetic of Bloodshot Records.

7. Are there any upcoming releases, projects or performances you’re looking forward to?

I recently released a track called HIGH TONIGHT on the Basscvlt label’s BLAZECVLT 2 compilation, and before that, a fun remix of another TikTok hit, Shakamania X’s GAY CHILD. It just might be the gay club anthem the world needs. I’ll be playing shows at parties and clubs in LA, with the Freakeasy crew in Chicago, and at Burning Man for the 11th time.

8. Where would you like to perform ‘No No Square’ in the near future?

Aside from a US tour, I’m really hoping to play in Japan and Korea. No-No Square is super popular there, Australia and Mexico too… so promoters, get at me!
