Oliver Heldens collaborates with Nile Rodgers and London’s House Gospel Choir on ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’

Oliver Heldens

Superstar DJ and producer Oliver Heldens continues his string of collaborations with disco legend Nile Rodgers on his new single, adding the talents of London’s incredible House Gospel Choir on an unexpected cover of ’70/’80s rock legends KISS’ ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’. It’s the track that 2022 didn’t know it needed, but it most definitely does.

Having previously worked together on their huge collaboration ‘Summer Lover‘ and Oliver‘s official remix of Chic‘s ‘Le Freak‘ for its 40th anniversary, Heldens and Rodgers make a formidable partnership which grows stronger still with this gorgeous new single. Heldens works his magic once again on this huge crossover anthem which blends his own pumping house beats and funked-up bass with Rodgers’ disco guitar links, House Gospel Choir‘s rousing delivery of the vocal refrain.

The result is a track which is destined to become one of the big festival and Ibiza anthems this summer, bursting with feel-good, sunshine-drenched energy. It’s a genius collaboration by one of the leading names in dance music, one of the most legendary hitmakers in all of music, and one of the most innovative outfits in the house music scene. “I always love working with Oliver, and House Gospel Choir is the icing on the jamming cake”, says Nile Rodgers.

When I made the very funk & disco inspired bassline for this track in 2015, I knew it was one of my best basslines since ‘Gecko’, and I just had to send it to one of my all-time heroes Nile Rodgers. He also loved it and he blessed the track with his signature jamming electric funk guitars, which was a dream come true for me!

Finding the right vocal for this track has been a real journey though, I’ve done over a dozen of toplines on it with several singers/songwriters, but in the end the hook of KISS’ iconic hit “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” turned out to be a match made in heaven. And with the extraordinary House Gospel Choir on board, they managed to make it sound even more heavenly! This song has been such a vibe in my sets, so I can’t wait for it to be finally released! 🙂“, says Oliver Heldens.

Fideles take Lufthaus’ ‘To The Light’ to a darker dimension

Fideles

Just as their debut release on Armada Music, Lufthaus’ second single ‘To The Light’ has incentivized a share of underground experts to showcase their remixing abilities, with Italian duo Fideles providing the kickoff. The pair have somehow dimmed the sonic light in the track itself by highlighting its more obscure elements and adding their signature sub-zero-fueled ingredients to make it a distinctly Fideles remix.

The underground club scene takes pride in its spectral atmosphere with otherworldly synths and hair-raising chord progressions, which is exactly what Fideles introduced to the mix. Already played at festivals such as Pleinvrees in Amsterdam and more, the track has entranced ravers with the ethereal climate it breathes into any setting. Led by a driving bassline and a catchy yet chilling pluck pattern, the remix accentuates the underlying mysterious aura that envelops the original track’s genuine lyrics.

In contrast with the original, this remix places the vocals in the spotlight by embracing it with gloomy, rumbling background synths rather than garnishing it with sanguine musical refrains. The sinister traces in the velvety melodies complement the harshness of the sincere sentiments in the track. Although the ideal ‘hours of the dawn’ basement anthem, the verity in the song’s expressive lyrics also renders it powerfully emotional, moving crowds to their cores.

Tackling the universal phenomenon of internal struggles, ‘To The Light‘ acts as a beacon of hope for those competing with their own personal lives while simultaneously providing a unique club-themed getaway.

Joining forces as Fideles in 2010, Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti have made their mark on the global dance music scene with a sophisticated and modern melodic sound. The duo have drawn the interest of the underground scene’s most influential names (from Laurent Garnier to Solomun) and secured scene-wide plaudits with releases on imprints such as Bedrock, Poker Flat, Stil vor Talent, and more recently Afterlife, Innervisions and Exit Strategy.

They have carried their mesmerizing performances globally, with shows at world-renowned events and international venues such as Printworks and Fabric (London), Amnesia (Ibiza), Rex Club (Paris) and Watergate (Berlin). With over a dozen years of experience in their back pockets, Fideles are only aiming upwards, with more of their timeless pieces set to enchant dance floors worldwide.

Solardo team up with fellow UK duo E11EVN on epic new track ‘So Far So Good’

Solardo

Whether it’s underground thumpers or crossover anthems, everything Manchester’s Solardo touch turns to gold. Their latest collab with E11EVN – a relatively new another Manchester talent the Solardo duo are once again beginning to support, goes by the name of ‘So Far So Good’ and might just be one of their best yet.

This superb new track sees this talented quartet head towards that dreamy Tulum, ‘All Day I Dream‘-inspired blend of progressive textures, groove, and melodies.

The track emerges from a galloping rhythmic introduction to slowly reveal layers of atmospheric beauty, from cooed vocal samples to rousing synth swells. The lead synth arpeggio drops in for the first breakdown, its shimmering, succinct riff recalling classic ’80s electronica before the brooding low end pummels the track into overdrive.

A head-spinning, dreamy breakdown pulses and swirls deliciously before we’re sucked back into the anthemic arrangement. Expertly crafted for big room impact, the track perfectly encapsulates their effervescent fusion of genres that has propelled them to the highest echelons of dance music.

Solardo have rapidly ascended the ranks of dance music in the last few years to become one of the biggest names in the game. As at home making gritty club tracks as they are collaborating with megastars like David Guetta, Tiësto, Camelphat, FJAAK, Eli Brown, and Marco Carola, they have amassed a huge legion of fans across the world. Owners of three labels and of the incredible HIGHER festival in Dubrovnik, Croatia, the duo are building their own ecosystem to allow them to release, play and book whatever and whoever they want, and it’s yielding big rewards.

Coming through the underground as a clubber, E11EVN has quickly become one of the faces of the scene. Taking influence from the UK underground scene, E11EVN‘s unique sound has catapulted him into a massively successful 2022 to date. He is without a doubt a force to be reckoned with, look out for ‘So Far So Good’ dominating all dance floors around very soon.

Self Control Records top man Future Self returns with “No Sunset”

Future Self come correct for their next record, their 2nd release of the year. As they continue to build on what has come before, their latest release from the label head has them joined by Acutek who remix “No Sunset”.

The remix is a driving deep techno cut which sparsely reflects the original whilst keeping to a more minimal and mechanic vibe. The original is a deep organic track which grows into a highly energised dance floor moment with definite nods to 90s trance.

This heavy 2 tracker dips into more minimal aesthetics whilst keeping things deep and with a nod to 90’s trance as we have come to expect from Future Self of late.

Between the remix and the original, this is a tight 2 track package, versatile and dancefloor focused material to power us on in 2022.

Leandro Da Silva unveils his brand new track ‘What I Do’ ft. Litening

The man who made ‘Your Smile’ belonging to Lulleaux and Jay Mason beam a little brighter last year, Leandro da Silva shows you how he gets down on Be Yourself Music.

Built on a rich diet of pianos and bassy keys straight from the classic house inventory, and with a hint of Iio’s ‘Rapture’ coming through, ‘What I Do’, with vocalist Litening strutting her stuff as the wrong diva to mess with, has all the hallmarks for putting hands up during happy hour, charming the airwaves with its rock steady melodies and singalong hook getting vibrant synths to spring into life.

Always part of the conversation when DJ Mag counts down the world’s greatest DJs, Leandro Da Silva has become a staple on the 1001tracklists annual selection of top producers, sweeping all before him on Spotify when entrusted with David Guetta & Sia’s ‘Flames’.

A global go-to from the Coliseum to the Copacabana, the man behind Black Lizard records has given the sets of Pete Tong, Martin Garrix, Afrojack and Bob Sinclar an extra edge, and applied fresh angles to vital material from Oliver Heldens and Clean Bandit.

When it comes to dance tracks with daytime dazzle, London based producer, singer and songwriter Litening brings the thunder, supplying illumination in the style of Jax Jones and connective creative spark with the likes of Benny Benassi, Ne-Yo and Fleur East. Whether playing the back or behind the mic, Litening has left BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM and Spotify feeling her energy, with the future forecast as habanero hot.

The producers built a plateau for processed vocals to lay into, as it serves as a moment for reckoning.

This song is a perfect example of a masterfully produced Future Rave track, and it will surely add more accolades to the growing list of recognition for the artists and the label.

Cat Dealers Rework Robbie Rivera’s U.S. Hit ‘Funkatron’

Cat Dealers

Cat Dealers have been on a roll since the year started, and their recent studio output proves it.

While early-2022 releases such as ‘Club Addict‘ (with FTampa and Spankox) and ‘Stronger‘ (with HRRTZ) continue to thrive across the international dance music scene, the Brazilian brothers are amplifying the momentum with a high-energy rework of Robbie Rivera‘s U.S. hit ‘Funkatron‘, which already hit #9 in 1001Tracklist’s Trending charts and received support from the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Nicky Romero, R3HAB, Tiësto and Timmy Trumpet ahead of today’s release.

Having already revved up the crowd at Lollapalooza Brazil during the pair’s live set, Cat Dealers‘ rework of Robbie Rivera‘s timeless 2001 classic is what you’d call a peak-time floor-filler. Supporting the raw and undeniably iconic melody with big, groove-heavy drops and a truckload of suspense, this modern rendition of ‘Funkatron‘ is the sonic thrill of a lifetime.

We were searching for a track to work on and create a new version of with a sound that’s more current”, Cat Dealers share.

“During our research, we stumbled onto this huge electronic music classic called ‘Funkatron’, which our label, Armada Music, very conveniently had the rights of. So we brought that idea to the A&R team and they told us to work on it. When we had our first demo, they sent it to Robbie Rivera and he liked it and approved it! We then managed to make multiple versions of the song to test in our shows, and it became the track we were able to test the most since the comeback of the shows. We are super excited about this track and the feedback from the fans has been amazing, both on the dance floor and on social media.
