Alison Wonderland launches FMU Records and taps Jon Casey & Dabow for first track, “I Surrender”

Electronic music maven Alexandra Sholler – best known as Alison Wonderland – has officially launched her new record label, FMU Records.

In tandem with the news, Wonderland is pleased to announce her forthcoming debut LP under Whyte Fang, her highly-lauded musical alias which made a subtle resurgence in 2021 following a 6-year period of dormancy.

Due for release on March 31, 2023, the LP will feature her recent singles, “Girl,” “333,” and “TIDES,” as well as a collection of fresh, new Whyte Fang music. To celebrate the launch, Sholler will be throwing the official FMU Records launch party in an undisclosed warehouse in New York City on March 10.

The all-night-long event will boast a lineup featuring an array of FMU Records-signed artists, along with a headlining Whyte Fang set that will include a special exclusive preview of her forthcoming LP.

FMU Records is hitting the ground running with its first offering, “I Surrender,” a single from the label’s first signees, the inimitable Jon Casey and Dabow. The track features a blend of each producer’s signature sonic elements, and arrives on the heels of their early November-released projects: Casey‘s collaborative single, “Harder,” with Erbes on Subsidia, and Dabow‘s hip-hop doused treat, “Dale Vuelta,” with jordnmoody and Episcool.

Casey and Dabow are no strangers to the bass scene, pushing the envelopes with their genre-blending sound design. Hailing from South Africa, Casey’s unique approach to bass music has garnered support from the likes of UZ, GTA, The Glitch Mob, and more and has seen his productions find a home on Slow Roast Records, Sable Valley, Quality Good Records, and more.

With a knack for combining simplicity with pristine percussive elements and floor-filling bass, Argentinian DJ and producer Dabow has received support from industry heavy-hitters including RL Grime, Zeds Dead, The Chainsmokers, and more. With releases on some of the industry’s most coveted labels including Mad Decent, Fool’s Gold, and Buygore, Dabow has been making waves in the bass scene. The pair serves as a prime example of what FMU Records plans to bring to the table: fresh, powerful beats from a diverse range of talented artists from around the world.

“Dabow showed me this idea in the studio together and I said I have to add my 2 cents on it ASAP. We listened to the song more than we worked on it at the time because we loved hearing it so much. The fact that it’s FMU’s first record is the biggest honour and I’m beyond hyped to get it out. Thank you Alison for believing in us the way you do. Hope y’all enjoy it.”Jon Casey

” ‘I Surrender’ was meant to be a collab with Jon Casey from the minute it was started, feels special to be part of the first release on FMU Records. We worked on this collab in the weirdest music studio in Austin Texas, it was like a huge warehouse, with a lot of abandoned stuff, but in two rooms they had some nice studios. The whole mgmt team was there, vibing to the track. Jon was adding unlimited sauce to it. Till we were like: “Yo, this is it!” Then the next night we were listening to it in the car with a few other people, and I told Jon: “This track is gonna change our lives.”Dabow

Kicking off with detailed-percussive elements and an alluring vocal cut, “‘I Surrender” is a captivating record that utilizes simplistic elements while simultaneously infusing each sound with atmospheric energy and a heady rhythm.

A deep bassline ensues, creating a push-and-pull effect, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats waiting for the next sound element to take charge. From start to finish, the energetic drum patterns, heavy bass, and intoxicating melody encapsulate the eardrums in a whirlwind of sound, leaving the listener in an entrancing daze. Emphasizing the melodic strengths of each artist perfectly, “I Surrender” doubles as a stellar debut offering from FMU Records.

The launch of the label marks a new chapter for Sholler, who has spent the last decade dominating dance charts, festivals, and the most coveted stages in the world with her infectious flavor of trap and bass as Alison Wonderland. With FMU, she plans to dive into her enigmatic alias Whyte Fang and finally deliver a full-length album that will put the inner workings of her dark electronica mind on full display.

2023 will be the year of Whyte Fang. Along with the LP release in March, she plans to take her immersive WF show concept to select locations across the country, beginning with an appearance at the FMU Records launch party taking place in an NYC warehouse on March 10, 2023.

Her live show will boast a cutting-edge and production-heavy experience that promises to transport showgoers to an alternate electronic universe. Fans can sign up to receive exclusive updates on the location and lineup of the FMU Records Warehouse Party starting next week here.

Armand Van Helden enlists Karen Harding for rework of ‘Wings (I Won’t Let You Down)’

Superstar DJ and producer, Armand Van Helden enlists chart-topping vocalist Karen Harding to breathe fresh life into the DJ’s 2016 anthem Wings re-released as Wings (I Won’t Let You Down) via Spinnin’ Records.

Since purchasing a drum machine as a teenager, Boston native and global dance music pioneer Armand Van Helden hasn’t looked back. Dropping consistent smash hit successes since the late 90s Armand Van Helden has earned legendary status with the likes of UK no.1 single You Don’t Know Me, which still lives in infamy at over 21M Spotify streams today, or notorious club banger with Dizzee Rascal Bonkers, which currently sits at over 139M Spotify streams and landed no.1 on the UK Dance Charts and no.2 on the Billboard Dance Chart.

Known as the remix king whose reworks often reach more people than the original for the likes of the Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Puffy Daddy, Sneaker Pimps, C.J. Bolland, Daft Punk, and more, the DJ and producer has built a reliable reputation for high-profile collaborations and original mixes.

Heavily inspired by smooth hip-hop flows, Armand Van Helden developed his early sound in Boston’s nightclubs while releasing on major labels such as Nervous Records and Strictly Rhythm and later evolving to release on FFRR and his own imprint Southern Fried Records. His equally as huge duo venture with Canadian tastemaker A-Trak, Duck Sauce, received a ‘Best Dance Recording’ nomination for their single Barba Streisand, which topped the charts in 12 countries in addition to landing no. 1 in the UK Dance Chart for single Anyway.

Meanwhile, UK House queen Karen Harding’s ambitious work ethic and glorious vocal range has forged an in-demand singer and stand-out musician who has seen collaborations with the likes of Wilkinson, Blonde, Purple Disco Machine, Shift K3Y, Paul Woolford, Galantis, Felix Cartel, and Le Youth in addition to support from DJ S.K.T and TCTS on KISS FM and Danny Howard’s and Party Anthems on BBC Radio 1.

The vocalist is known for her debut Top 10 single Say Something, co-written and produced with GRAMMY-nominated MNEK, which has amassed over 150M Spotify streams. Meanwhile, her debut EP Sweet Vibrations amassed over 50M combined streams and extensive support from BBC Radio 1, Capital Dance, KISS FM, and more. Described as “on a mission to be the Whitney Houston of dance music”, Karen Harding brings a classic soul voice dripping with sass to every project she touches.

The vocalist describes her unique spin on Wings (I Won’t Let You Down); “When I heard Wings, it instantly made me feel nostalgia. I didn’t want to take away from the original because it has such a great message so I was honoured to be able to to add to the idea and I love the story. I hope that it can transport listeners to a good place. Buzzed to work with the legend Armand Van Helden, I’m a big fan and it was so exciting to work with him on this record.”

Set for a December 9 release, the new track is a perfect pairing of sonic styles, lifting Mau P’s original production to new heights with Reinier Zonneveld’s distinctive brand of sweaty, rave bliss.

The single comes on the heels of Mau P’s debut release of the original track, signed on Lee Foss‘ influential Repopulate Mars imprint, and licensed to Island UK, Republic Records and Virgin Germany. With the original ‘Drugs From Amsterdam‘ finding heavyweight support from headlining DJs like Tiësto, John Summit, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Diplo, Dom Dolla, and Wade, there’s no doubt that Reinier‘s lauded techno touch will redefine ‘Drugs From Amsterdam‘ for the scene’s deep, dark underground.

Reinier has been remixing the track in his signature style during his live sets for a while now! It’s really cool to see the track in this new light on his official remix and it’s an absolute honor to be releasing this track together.” – Mau P

“From the moment that I heard Mau P’s original ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’, I loved it and knew it would fit perfectly in my sets. I have remixed it into a track I’ve been roadtesting for a while now and the response has been great!! It’s an honor that it has become the official remix of this monster tune and I’m excited to help tell the next chapter of the single’s story.”Reinier Zonneveld

Zonneveld‘s fresh new take on Mau P‘s debut release continues to show how unstoppable ‘Drugs From Amsterdam‘ really is.

This remix is set for release on 9th December!

N/UM’ release new track ‘An Order From The Top’

‘An Order From The Top’ is the new single from live electronic collective N/UM’s upcoming LP and fifth release ‘Levers of History’.

The 13-minute track draws you in with a hypnotic groove, resonant percussion and a laid back bass line that slowly grows in intensity as you enter deeper into its world.

Once you are cocooned into the warm synths and meditative rhythms an otherworldly cry calls you upward to the vocals soaring hauntingly over the deep and dark groove.

As the track, recorded in a single improvised take by the New York live trio, moves along it develops steadily, opening up like a flower, unfolding acid bass lines and cascading guitar chords before landing back where it took off with the distinctive dark, melodic groove that stays with us long after the track has ended.
