Verknipt debuts behind-the-scenes video series, Road to Verknipt ArenA

The Road to Verknipt ArenA video series launches today, giving Verknipt ArenA festival goers an intimate first-look at the meticulous preparations and electrifying anticipation leading up to the biggest hard techno event in history.

The show will take place on Saturday July 20th, 2024, in Amsterdam‘s iconic Johan Cruijff ArenA with a mind-blowing capacity of 40.000 visitors, going above and beyond anything that has been pulled off in the hard techno scene to date.

As the anticipation builds for the biggest hard techno event in history, Road to Verknipt ArenA gives fans unprecedented access to the team, crew, production and artists that are contributing to this epic event.

Spread out across five documentary-style episodes that will drop between now and the event, each part of the series unveils a new facet of the monumental show’s creation, giving fans a firsthand glimpse of the passion, dedication and creative vision driving Verknipt‘s mission to expand the hard techno scene around the globe

“With our ‘Road to Verknipt ArenA’ video series, we’re really pulling back the curtain and letting you in as we create history,” spills Mer Hajbarati, co-owner at Verknipt.

“We wanted it to feel like a backstage pass to what goes into creating the world’s biggest hard techno event ever. At the same time, this series is about making our entire community feel like an integral part of the team, because, let’s face it, this journey is as much theirs as it is Verknipt’s. Together, we’re creating something truly extraordinary.”

This first episode, titled, Road to: Verknipt ArenA | EP.01 – The Location, sets the stage for the monumental journey ahead. Viewers will be transported into the heart of the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam, where the sheer magnitude of the venue’s greatness serves as a backdrop for the preparations underway.

In episodes to come, Verknipt will also zoom into the technical aspect that comes with a production of this scale. The massive lighting rigs, laser set-ups, time-coded shows and out of this world visuals will take centre stage, drumming up the hype around the already hotly anticipated event.

As for the show itself, Verknipt recently lifted the veil on the lineup, revealing a jam-packed roster with 15 acts featuring many Verknipt favorites. On stage at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam will be artists like Sara Landry, Alignment, Shlømo, DYEN, OGUZ, DIØN & 6EJOU, to name a few. Verknipt ArenA will take place on July 20th and will go down in the history books as the biggest hard techno event ever.

Splice Launches Signature, New Jazz Sample Label

Music creation platform Splice has launched Signature, a new sample label that features a rich collection of timeless sounds inspired by the history of jazz, performed by some of the greatest modern players.

With more than a million searches for jazz in 2023 alone, Splice users are enamored with the genre.

Just last month, Splice partnered with producer Terrace Martin (Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, the Game, Busta Rhymes, Stevie Wonder, Raphael Saadiq) to unveil a brand new mobile experience.

“Jazz is a foundation in music and culture for creativity and innovation” said John McNeill, Label Lead, Signature at Splice.

“It has provided the soundtrack to everything from social commentary and activism to love and leisure, this genre’s impact can’t be understated. With the launch of Signature we want creators to have access to sounds that are not only timeless, but important” he added.

The Signature collection joins more than 30 separate individual sample labels created by Splice, representing more than 130 genres and diverse sounds from Amapiano to UK Drill and this year’s breakout sound, Phonk. This past fall, the company released Aaroh, an ambitious collection of sample packs featuring the sounds of South Asia.

“Beyond its foundational musical significance in all popular music, jazz has become an increasingly prevalent element within popular music,” said Matt Block, Head of Music Production at Splice.

“Samara Joy, a jazz vocalist, won best new artist at the GRAMMYs last year, Robert Glasper has been working to usher in a new jazz age for more than two decades and more recently, and artists like Laufey and Domi & JD Beck are fueling a resurgence of jazz on platforms like TikTok. With this new collection we hope to both reflect and encourage the growing popularity of jazz sounds in music creation.”

Splice Signature

Signature seeks to authentically highlight sounds from the long history of jazz’s evolution as well as focusing on showcasing the talent and artistry in the jazz community today.

Signature’s sound library explores the various styles, sub-genres and instruments in jazz that have contributed to innovation and pushing creation forward, especially in sample based music. This label also emphasizes content stories that promote the artists, composers, musicians and studios tied to the creation of these sounds.

The Signature collection feature six sample packs running the gamut of jazz’s cultural evolution:

Signature presents: The Front Line

An early jazz inspired pack paying homage to the birthplace of the genre in the 1920s. This release was produced with original compositions and arrangements from Christopher Stevens (trumpet) and Marcus Myers (drums) who also recorded the pack alongside Sam Gellerstein (tuba), Yesseh Furaha-Ali (clarinet) and Michael Spearman (trombone).

Signature presents: Love Legacy Vocal Jazz

Crafted with original compositions and arrangements written by Christopher Stevens and Marcus Myers (drums). The session was recorded at Turtle Studios in Philadelphia including some of the area’s finest in Donald Robinson (piano), Korey Riker (saxophone), Sandy Eldred (bass) and Carol Riddick (vocals), this pack features the sultry, emotive vocal stylings of the jazz vocalists who pioneered and defined an era.

Signature Presents: The Tribute – Cool Jazz

Produced with original compositions and arrangements from Christopher Stevens (trumpet) and Marcus Myers (drums) who also recorded the pack alongside the help of pianist Aaron Hardin and bassist Tim Ragsdale, this pack features custom crafted original compositions reminiscent of the cool jazz era.

Signature Presents: Cruising – Organ Trio Jazz

This pack unleashes the classic sound of the organ trio, where the Hammond takes center stage, creating an irresistible blend of groove, soul and improvisation. This pack was produced and recorded entirely by The Mini Q’s, who consist of Luke O’Reilly (organ), Anwar Marshall (drums) and Ben O’Neill (guitar), a unit who has been playing together so long that you can’t help but hear their soulful synergy in these loops.

Signature Presents: Rhythm Sections

With over 400 sounds, played by New York’s hardest working drummer, Charles Goold, this release contains everything from drum loops of shuffles, break beats, latin grooves and an extensive array of one-shots, recorded at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, a flagship studio for jazz music.

Signature Presents: Paradise Bay

This pack contains loops produced with original compositions and arrangements from Christopher Stevens (guitar) and Marcus Myers (drums), who assembled an all-star line up of musicians featuring incredible vocalist Gina Roche, pianist Jessee Hernandez, bassist Jay Rosado and percussion by the legendary Pablo Batista (Grover Washington Jr, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, Teddy Pendergrass and many more).

Pyramid has released their weekly calendars for the 2024 season, as they return to Amnesia with their clear motto: appreciate the past, live the present and dance into the future.

Expect star studded line ups at their in-house club residency, returning every Sunday from 9th June until the sun comes up, with a season warm up having taken place on Friday 26th April during IMS week.

Leading up to their 25th birthday in October, globally renowned London club fabric will be taking their brand around the world to collaborate with some of their favorite venues and festivals. On the 15th September, Ricardo Villalobos, O Bee b2b Tomos Station, Elli Acula, Sama’ Abdulhadi and more TBA will descend on the island’s most discerning nightclub.

Space Ibiza has announced a fittingly historic lineup for its monumental 24-week residency at fellow clubbing giant Eden Ibiza, beginning April 26th and culminating on October 4th, 2024.

The summer kicks off with Space’s big Opening Fiesta from 9pm on Friday 26th April, with Armand Van Helden, Chris Liebing B2B Nicole Moudaber, Davide Squillace B2B Matthias Tanzmann, Jason Bye, Kesia, Richy Ahmed and Simon Dunmore raising the curtain on the Discoteca, while Daniel Orpi, Detlef, Federico Grazzini, Jesse Calosso, and Niteplan open the Redbox room.

A carefully curated wave of internationally loved artists welcome Space back to its spiritual home in the heart of San Antonio, with friends old and new uniting in celebration of the Ibiza spirit.

Brussels Airlines and the world’s best electronic dance music festival Tomorrowland proudly present ‘Amare’, the newest Belgian Icon, which represents unity for people all over the world.

The brand-new and specially painted Airbus A320neo‘s livery also features augmented reality. Both partners also ramp up efforts to make the Tomorrowland flights more sustainable. Amare will not only bring the festivalgoers to Tomorrowland but will be operating commercial flights as from April 26, 2024.

United since 2012

​Brussels Airlines has announced its extension of partnership with Tomorrowland until 2028. Since 2012, the Belgian airline has proudly collaborated with Tomorrowland, bringing tens of thousands of festivalgoers to Belgium every summer. This partnership is built on shared values, including a passion for exploring the world, connecting cultures, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

This summer almost 47.000 festivalgoers will travel to Tomorrowland Belgium via the unique Global Journey travel packages, offering an all-inclusive experience with transportation (flight, bus, train), accommodation (DreamVille, B&B, hotel) and festival tickets. Roughly 14.500 festivalgoers booked a Global Journey package with flight. Approximately 165 different flights from around the world will take place over the two weekends.

Amare travels the world

​Amare embodies some of Tomorrowland‘s core values, including love, friendship, and unity. Amare comes to life during ‘Adscendo‘, both in the book and on the stages, but also plays a significant role in Tomorrowland’s future fiction novels. In the Tomorrowland Universe, Amare is the only one able to travel through different Tomorrowland worlds via Paperworld, the magical parallel spectrum that connects the different worlds.

From this line of thought, Amare was visualized as if the mythical bird was traveling through the ‘spectrum of space’ by having him fade out towards the back. This also conveys a stronger sense of motion and makes the aircraft even more dynamic. ​

The new design also exudes a tremendous power in magic through energy lines and particles that are in the direction of motion, this to further emphasize that Amare is a magical being that is constantly in motion with the purpose of bringing people together.

Augmented Reality

​Amare is the first aircraft to feature augmented reality in its livery as the creature comes to life when scanned through specific social media channels such as Instagram and TikTok. This feature provides the People of Tomorrow a first augmented storytelling behind the world-famous and mythical bird Amare, which symbolizes unity and transcending time and space.

The whole design process of the livery took about 15 months and great attention has been given to details, from the feathers of the bird to the sparkles of the fireworks transitioning into the Brussels Airlines‘ logo.

The Tomorrowland experience will of course continue inside the aircraft where passengers will enjoy the impressive sound system and special mood lighting in the cabin.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Green Fares

​Both Brussels Airlines and Tomorrowland are dedicated to reducing their environmental footprint and taking necessary steps to minimize their impact. Both partners are aware of their environmental impact and have been working to reduce it over the past few years.

The new Amare is the second brand-new A320neo having joined Brussels Airlines‘ fleet in December 2023. ​The neo emits up to 20% less CO2 and up to 50% less noise than its predecessors. The new Amare is thus a tangible example of how Brussels Airlines and Tomorrowland are aiming to reduce their ecological impact.

Furthermore, all Global Journey Packages Brussels Airlines and Tomorrowland sell together will from now on be Green Fares, which compensate the flight emissions with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (20%) and thanks to the investment into qualitative CO2-reducing programmers (80%).

To top it off, Tomorrowland and Brussels Airlines signed an agreement to invest in the purchase of SAF to compensate the total carbon emissions of all party flights that will be operated.

GAWP & The Melody Men join forces for powerful new track ‘Sun Comes Up’ on Heldeep

Their collaborations have seen them feature on global radio playlists, TV shows and also major ad campaigns.

Tomorrowland unveils the full timetable for CORE Medellín in Colombia

Just over two weeks to go before CORE makes its highly anticipated and sold-out debut in the heart of Medellín, Colombia, on May 11 & 12! Set to welcome more than 25 of the scene’s finest house & techno artists across 3 captivating stages, nearly 30.000 music aficionados will be witnessing the legendary new CORE stage in full effect during a unique two-day festival in Parque Norte Medellín, located in the heart of Colombia’s second-largest city where music and nature come together. 

Having sold out the two-day festival in record time, CORE Medellín will treat festivalgoers to remarkable performances at the breathtaking CORE stage by Agents Of Time, ANNA, Antdot, Bora Uzer (live), Kitty Amor and Kölsch on Saturday May 11, as well as BICEP (DJ set), Brina Knauss, Elif, Kevin de Vries, Kilimanjaro and Mind Against on Sunday May 12.

After its spectacular world premiere in Tulum’s jungle in January, the mythical new CORE stage will now leave a lasting impression further down in South America, before traveling back to the enchanting forests of Tomorrowland in Belgium for the festival’s iconic 20-year anniversary in July.

The sounds at AltVerda will be curated by Chet Faker (DJ set), Dino Lenny, Hercules & Love Affair (DJ set) and Ubbah on Saturday May 11, as well as Capoon, Dana Montana, DJ BORING, fka.m4a and HAAi on Sunday May 12.

Finally, the Arbo stage is bathed in a mysterious, yet cozy and intimate atmosphere with the use of many fabrics, smoke and lights. Arbo will feature sets by Julianna, TraTraTrax Sound Sistema, Valesuchi and WOST on May 11, as well as Cellini, La Nuyt, Mystery Affair and Sinego on May 12.

Reinier Zonneveld Returns With Another Hard-Hitting Collab With D-Devils: ‘Judgement Day’

Reinier Zonneveld returns to his mighty imprint Filth on Acid with ‘Judgement Day’ with legendary Belgian act D-Devils, a follow up to their earlier collaboration ‘Dance With the Devil (The 6th Gate)’, which has become one of Reinier Zonneveld’s most recognizable and popular remixes to date.

With a distinctive blend of melodic hooks and driving rhythms, Zonneveld has carved out a unique niche in the electronic music landscape. As founder of Filth on Acid, Zonneveld has created a platform for boundary-pushing artists to thrive next to his own chart-topping releases.
