Carlita announces debut album ‘Sentimental’ with lead single “The Moment”

Turkish-Italian DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Carlita (real name Carla Frayman) announces her long-awaited debut album ‘Sentimental’, set for release 15th November on Ninja Tune. Along with the announcement Carlita shares lead single “The Moment” featuring acclaimed English producer and singer-songwriter SG Lewis.

Sentimental’ is the culmination of Carlita’s musical journey years and years in the making. The album notes a creative milestone in her productions, building a sonic narrative using her life experiences as its building blocks.

“I want fans to see a different side to me musically,” Carla says. “I think most people come to my shows at clubs and festivals and see me playing lots of big club records but I want people to hear this album and really see a different side to me musically and be left surprised by the sound of it.”

Speckles of these moments, along with a cast of talented friends can be heard first-hand throughout ‘Sentimental’. “Trouble Symphony” opens the album with DJ Tennis right at the beginning like how he was at the start of Carla’s career. SG Lewis, acclaimed producer who joined Carlita at Senza Fine’s New York Fashion Week show last year, lends his vocals to lead single “The Moment”.

Comme Ça Voce” taps into her Italian roots, featuring vocals from Sicilian musician Orofino. Mascolo, Elderbrook, Julietta and Cleo Simone round out the list of esteemed peers who have contributed their time and talent to ‘Sentimental’.

As Carla elaborates, “It was an amazing experience working with all the people involved in the album and so great to see how everyone has different creative processes. It was really inspiring for me and also taught me lots of new things along the way.” Undoubtedly the most important track on the album, the previously released “Time” is a song that has stuck with Carla through many DJ sets.

A standout closer to many sets, the song solidifies palpable connection between Carlita and any crowd she plays to, making it a perfect ending to a transcendent experience. The song serves a similar purpose as the penultimate track on ‘Sentimental’; a heartfelt statement that not only encompasses the overarching thesis to her debut, but it also cements Carlita as an exceptional producer and songwriter.

“There’s so much thought process that goes into an album and that’s why it’s taken so long for me to be truly happy with it. The creative process has been amazing albeit stressful at times but it’s been so rewarding” she said.

The fifth edition of Senza Fine will be taking place on September 7th during New York Fashion Week. Carlita also continues a run of tour dates across the EU and UK, including Medusa Cannes in France, Parc del Fòrum and DC10 in Spain, Lost Village Festival in the UK and more.

Secret Garden Party Concludes Final Event With Iconic Spectacle

Secret Garden Party 2024 photo by James Wicks

On Saturday, July 27th, Secret Garden Party’s 2024 Roots Edition delivered an unprecedented show which perfectly encapsulated their creative contribution and legacy.

After 25 years, the Secret Garden Party announced to festival-goers that this would be their final year in its current guise, marking their farewell and the end of an era not only for SGP but for the countless festival-goers who have attended over the years.

In true SGP style, the spectacle conveyed a deeper message to fans, culminating in a state-of-the-art drone show, designed by Celestial in collaboration with SGP, a creative production of founder Fred Fellowes and Secret Design’s Nick Carter, titled ‘Creativity Unchained.’ This was followed by a ‘That’s Showbiz, Baby’ extravaganza, produced by SGP in collaboration with Acme FX and Immersive International.

The spectacle underscored the impact of corporate takeovers and greed, which have made it difficult for independent events and artists to thrive in today’s scene. It delivered a powerful message to inspire, protect, and preserve creative expression from corruption and the stranglehold of major players in the music industry. The extravaganza peaked in spectacular fashion, with the symbolic ‘Burning of the Main Stage,’ an urgent call for immediate change, signifying that from the ashes, something new will grow in the garden.

This year’s event was a true showcase of collaboration, with independent festivals and event promoters uniting in support. Shindig, NTIA, Cirque du Soul, and many others provided additional backing in the weeks leading up to SGP. Ren’s fans from Australia to the USA purchased and donated tickets to those who couldn’t afford to attend. This has become a global movement to save our music scene, demonstrating the love and unity of people rooting for a cause that matters deeply to them through positive connection and creative self expression.

Following the recent international festival crisis, Secret Garden Party will undergo a transformation this year which is set to redefine the festival model, emphasizing the need for collaboration and unity amongst independent organizers. In response to the increasing number of venue closures and festival cancellations, Secret Garden Party aims to foster a collective effort by inviting other events and promoters to the SGP site in the festival’s absence, to join in their vision with an aim to revitalize and strengthen the festival scene together.

Fred Fellowes – Head Gardener & Founder highlights:

“At this point, we’ve said everything that needs to be said. We’ve done what we said we would do. That’s the party we created, and that speaks for itself.”

Reflecting on the successful event, the programming and performances were hailed as groundbreaking. Ren’s first show in five years was a resounding success, featuring a two-part, two-hour performance by the award-winning artist. The show included live strings, theatrical performances, and a unique collaboration with Chinchilla and Romain Axisa joining Ren on stage.

The Secret Garden Party’s final soiree upheld their reputation as purveyors of all things curious, with an eclectic schedule that featured something for everyone looking to unwind and let loose. From the LED hula-hooping of the fire show and midnight playground to the life drawing class in the Bohemian Artist Studio and Mermaid school on the swimming lake, there were plenty of options for those looking to stimulate the senses.

And while this year’s festival saw them commit to the Drop a Headliner campaign, a movement launched to support independent artists, there were plenty of exciting acts and standout performances, including impromptu sets from more familiar faces such as Plump DJs in the Oasis.

As far as encores go, SGP’s was one that will live long in the memory as they continue to strive for a united, sustainable festival scene moving forward.

Eagles & Butterflies continues his journey into rave hedonism with ‘Dopamine Vol. 02’ EP

Eagles & Butterflies dives into the rave head first with his latest EP, ‘Dopamine Vol. 02’. It continues the Dopamine series, a run of no-frills club-focused releases on his label, Art Imitating Life, a sonic story straight from his synth bunker in Lisbon.

Throughout Vol. 02, Chris serves up everything from synth pop, beaks to rave and beyond. It’s the second in his DIY Dopamine series, a place for the English-born, Lisbon-based producer to put out “music he loves” with no “fancy gimmicks”, delivering it directly “from his synths to our ears” in carefree fashion.

“Dopamine is a series on my label ‘Art Imitating Life’ that’s a channel for me to release anything I want,” says Eagles & Butterflies, “With the emphasis on ‘not everything needs to be a hit’ and ‘No fancy gimmicks or marketing, just music I love,’ this release is a bundle of vintage sonics featuring my favorite studio toys like the Korg M1, Roland TB-303, Roland RE-201 Space Echo, and the E-mu Orbit 9090, to name but a few.

Eagles & Butterflies – ‘Dopamine Vol. 02’ EP

The EP’s euphoric opener, ‘Higher’ is a 90s-esque trance-infused rave slammer. It sits in the same vein as the EP’s penultimate track, ‘Up All Night’, which doesn’t hold back, and is crammed with glistening atmospheric synths, breaks and a distorted vocal refrain, topped off with a flurry of hand-in-the-air piano stabs.

Chris, a hit-maker who creates “pop music for the dancefloor”, revisits June’s poppy single ‘Runaway’ with a punchier, breakbeat-infused ‘club mix’, while ‘Miss U’ adopts a percussive techno groove that descends deliciously into acid bassline chaos.

Portomento’ is a vintage Italo disco synth fest, similarly to ‘Lullaby 02’, a deep cut flexing a dreamy synth melody and a brooding vintage Italo disco drum machine-made beat. ‘Soul’ wades deep into warehouse rave territory, flashing a stunning arpeggiating synth melody, thrown together with bruising drum breaks.

Asides from the release of his hit track, ‘Runaway’, ‘Dopamine Vol. 02’ is the first Eagles & Butterflies release since April’s huge ‘I Need U’. Prior, fans were gifted with his dramatic remix of Isaie’s ‘Vice II’ and, of course, ‘Dopamine Vol. 01’, which features seven similarly raw, club-ready vintage jams.

Eagles & ButterfliesDopamine series is shaping up to be a game changing run of releases for the producer. The eight carefree tracks on ‘Dopamine Vol. 02’ are the sign of a prolific and varied producer that cannot be pigeonholed. Constantly evolving, this humble but exquisite talent is busy making memorable moments on and off dancefloors.

Elohim’s ‘Power Of Panic’ Album Chronicles a Battle with Anxiety

Elohim’s album “Power of Panic” takes center stage, showcasing her talent for creating symbolic, visually striking content that delves into intense mental health struggles. This album marks a significant moment in her career, revealing different facets of her journey and illuminating issues often kept in the shadows.

The singles from “Power of Panic” have received massive support and praise. Highlights include placements on Spotify’s “Women of Electronic” playlist, Apple Music’s “New in Dance,” and Amazon Music’s “Brand New Music.” Major platforms like ThisSongIsSick and EDM.com have also shown their support.

Can’t Remember Your Name” illustrates the chaos of memory loss and life’s overwhelming nature, reflecting brain fog confusion. “Tiny Human” contrasts the vast, busy world with feelings of insignificance, capturing societal pressures. “Didn’t Sign Up For This” candidly addresses the crushing responsibilities of modern life and their impact on mental well-being.

Elohim
Elohim – Power of Panic

In her quest to cope, Elohim turned to Benzodiazepines, becoming dependent. Her dream of overcoming challenges began to unravel. Canceling her tour, she faced the tough process of weaning off the medication. Left with an almost finished album and a vision in shambles, she questioned everything, even the album’s release.

Recovery brought Elohim a stark realization: the power of panic is both destructive and transformative. This period forced her to confront the raw truth of her message, not from a lofty place but from gritty reality. Dreaming of a parallel world where she’s back on stage, Elohim vows never to give up.

For now, the reality is fractured but beautiful. “Power of Panic” exists without stage lights, and that has to be enough. Elohim bravely brings attention to mental health struggles through her music, opening crucial conversations.

With a focus on “Power of Panic,” this album stands as Elohim‘s defining release of 2024, encapsulating her journey and using raw lyrics and engaging melodies to ignite important conversations about hidden struggles.

Sinca Delivers Official Remix of John Digweed & Nick Muir’s Classic ‘Santiago’

Montreal-based producer Sinca returns to the release front to reveal one of her most career-defining creations to-date. Enlisted by John Digweed and Nick Muir to revisit their classic track Santiago, Sinca’s official remix is out now on Bedrock Records.

Infusing her deep and hypnotic sound into the 2005 original, Sinca sets her soundscape with scintillating percussion. Introducing the iconic Spanish vocals, Sinca builds the groove with piano keys and sparse instrumentation.

Captivating listeners with a rolling bassline, this versatile rendition will light up dancefloors as the sun rises or sets. Joining an impressive roster of previous remixers; including Guy Gerber, Chab, Joeski and Hernan Cattaneo, Sinca‘s remix been road tested in both John Digweed’s and her own performances around the planet.

Sinca remix
John Digweed & Nick Muir – Santiago ( Sinca remix )

Speaking about the remix, Sinca mentioned:

“I’ve been a fan of John Digweed, Nick Muir, and Bedrock for many years. In the electronic music scene, everyone knows them, especially in my hometown of Montreal, where Digweed is an absolute hero. Every time he plays at Stereo Montreal, it’s a unique musical journey often lasting over 10 hours.

A few months ago, I had the chance to record a 60-minute mix for his Transitions series and a week later, John messaged me on Instagram to ask if I would remix his classic track ‘Santiago’. It was a huge honor, and I (of course!) accepted.

Remixing a 20-year-old song was exciting. When I received the stems, I heard all the intricate details of the original: reverby vocals, groovy old-school drums, and hypnotic synths. Also, the Spanish vocals really resonated with me as I am half Peruvian. I felt inspired to keep several elements while adding my own twist.

This is the “hardest” track I’ve made so far, designed for high-energy sets and fitting Bedrock’s style. Yet, it still includes my signature elements: nostalgic melodies, arpeggios, and repetitive, hypnotic leads.

It is such a pleasure to release this remix, especially alongside the talented Cristina Lazic.

Growing up in Montreal in a French-Canadian and Peruvian household, Sinca‘s eclectic journey and diverse background brings a unique flavour to her music, and a deeply-rooted joy to her performances. As an Épicurienne, with a background in classical ballet and rhythmic flamenco, Sinca’s creative pursuits and diverse tastes inspire her evolving sets, which offer a transcendent experience on the dancefloor.

Performing around the globe, she has shared lineups with some of the industry’s most esteemed talents at some of the most iconic clubs and festivals, including Lightning in a Bottle 2023, Brooklyn Mirage, Stereo, Piknic Electronik, Do Not Sit On the Furniture, Art with Me, Coda and Electric Island.

Outside of the US, Sinca has played at the likes of Budapest Calling, Anjunadeep Explorations, and tours across India. Chartering her scintillating originals on leading imprints such as Anjunadeep, All Day I Dream, Days Like Nights, XYZ and Altered State, Sinca continues to reach new audiences around the planet with her authentic and multidimensional approach.

David Guetta & OneRepublic reveal new acoustic versions of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’

‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, the smash hit by EDM-pop pioneer David Guetta and Grammy-nominated band OneRepublic, gets a new ‘Piano version’ and a ‘Band version,’ out now.

While the acoustic version of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ released in June strips the dance-pop track down to frontman Ryan Tedder’s vocals, intimate acoustic guitar and cello strings, the heartwarming new ‘Piano version’ distils the track further, pulling on the heartstrings with simple but effective, glistening keys.

OneRepublic’s dynamic new ‘Band version’ features all six members and shifts away from the original dance elements, veering faintly into country music territory.

David Guetta & OneRepublic
David Guetta & OneRepublic – I Don’t Wanna Wait alternate versions

I Don’t Wanna Wait’, originally released in April, has swiftly become one of Guetta and OneRepublic’s biggest hits respectively. Within two months, the track amassed 330 million streams worldwide and 28 million in the UK, reaching #33 on Spotify’s Global Chart.

It also topped European airplay charts and Dance Radio in the US, and secured a spot in the Top 10 of Belgium’s Official Charts. The original’s music video, shot during Guetta’s headline set at Ultra Music Festival in front of 60,000 fans in Miami, now boasts over 30M views.

David Guetta and OneRepublic are a match made in heaven and together are riding the wave of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, which is surely one of the biggest dance-pop tracks of the past decade. Exploring every angle of this emotive, party-starting track, these two new acoustic versions show how the track can be translated for any audience and occasion.
