Kala Festival Announces Fifth Anniversary With a Stellar Lineup

Kala has all the ingredients for the perfect summer plan: beautiful beaches, excellent music and a stunning festival location running from 5th – 12th June.

This combination of beach holiday and music festival is a formula that Albania’s flagship summer festival has been perfecting over the years, attracting adventurous punters, travelers and dance music connoisseurs to a previously undiscovered location off the Mediterranean coast.

Albania’s popularity has risen in recent years, in fact it has seen the fastest post-pandemic tourism growth in Europe yet Kala is maintaining its boutique approach, with intimate beachside stages and only 3000 tickets released every year.

To celebrate its fifth edition in the sun-drenched beaches of the Riviera, Kala has announced its broadest line up to date, doubling down on the unique aspects of its week-long program with more live acts, more extended DJ sets, and an even wider range of music, including more techno and clubbier sounds.

The result is a wide range of genuinely good music that covers all corners of electronic music, plus some. From live performances by Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills‘ band, Tomorrow Comes The Harvest, the Afrobeat and Jazz fusion of Kokoroko, or the clubbier sounds of Elkka and Sweely, to the feel-good selections of Folamour, the high octane beats of Job Jobse and rare all night sets by revered selectors such as Palms Trax, Avalon Emerson, Shanti Celeste & Peach, Horsemeat Disco, Marcellus Pittman & Maurice Fulton, as well as underground heroes Gene On Earth and The Ghost. A full list of announced acts can be found below.

Mahmut Orhan Releases New Single ‘Andalusian’ via Ultra Records

Turkish DJ/producer Mahmut Orhan releases his new single, “Andalusian,” via Ultra Records. The track comes alongside the formal announcement of his debut album, Pangea, which is set to arrive on March 22. The project will continue Orhan’s mission to harness the universal power of music by blending intercontinental and intercultural sounds.

Orhan‘s sonic evolution is heard clearly on “Andalusian,” which builds upon his indie dance roots and ascends to powerful melodic techno. Middle Eastern psytrance influences propel the track forward, while Lebanese singer Ribale Wehbé delivers a rich yet feathery vocal performance in her native tongue. The sound is dramatic and emotional but still beckons listeners to the dancefloor.

Here’s what Mahmut Orhan had to say about the release:

“The Pangea album is a real memory album for me, where all the memories, experiences, journeys and sounds that inspire me that I have accumulated since the day I started making music, come together.”

Mahmut Orhan – Andalusian

To start 2024, Orhan has embarked on an expansive world tour. With such a ubiquitous sound, he’s able to perform in all corners of the world, up and down the Americas from Canada to Argentina and Central Europe to Saudi Arabia. As the weather warms up for festival season, Orhan will debut at several massive music festivals, including one of the biggest in the United States, Coachella.

One of Turkey’s biggest dance music exports, Mahmut Orhan‘s music first made its way around the globe in 2016 when he released “Feel,” an alluring indie dance track with Balkan melodies, a slick groove, and delightfully unique vocals from Sena Sener.

Ultra Records took notice and signed him shortly afterward, and Orhan proceeded to deliver a string of enchanting singles, carefully crafting his distinct, worldly sound. In 2018, he was named GQ Turkey’s DJ of the Year. To date, Orhan has amassed over 2 billion views across his videos on YouTube and over 500 million streams on DSPs, plus a recent explosion on TikTok of #mahmutorhan amassing over 400 million views.

Marsh also has an array of widely supported anthems in his discography. ‘Come Together‘ (with Nox Vahn), ‘Little Darling‘ and the Beatport chart-topping ‘Lost In You‘ are some of his best-loved tracks, all streaming well into the millions and winning support from electronic music’s most prominent artists, including Joris Voorn, Pete Tong, Diplo, and RÜFÜS DU SOL.

I remember asking a number of friends to see which track they thought I should take on, but I think I already had the answer deep down – it had to be ‘Sirens Of The Sea’ – one of my all-time favorite trance anthems.

It’s a massive honor to have a remix of this one, and such a joy to enjoy this moment with you again and again when I play it out!”Marsh
