DICE has acquired Boiler Room

DICE, the fast growing music discovery and ticketing platform, has acquired the pioneering underground and electronic music live streaming platform, Boiler Room.

Combining DICE‘s curated discovery technology and ticketing capabilities with Boiler Room‘s extensive and unique music programming, the two platforms will combine to offer the best live and live stream fan experiences.

The two platforms will work together to enhance Boiler Room‘s offering and drive additional revenue to artists, rights holders, collectives, festivals and clubs, providing the tools and solutions to help partners and creators thrive in the challenging and ever changing music ecosystem.

Phil Hutcheon, Founder and CEO of DICE, commented:

I’ve been a fan of Boiler Room for years and they’re world leading in bringing incredible experiences to fans. Blaise [Boiler Room CEO] and I have been discussing for over a year how to support artists better and the more we spoke, the more excited we were to work together. The combination of Boiler Room with the distribution and technology of DICE creates substantial opportunities in a sustainable, transparent and fair model.

Blaise Belville, Boiler Room, founder, commented:

DICE has built an incredible platform by being laser-focused on creating the best possible experience for fans and event partners – their app now has millions of music fans accessing live music around the world. My experience when talking to Phil was inspiring and he immediately recognised how important Boiler Room is, and how much potential we have.

I believe deeply that the best way for Boiler Room to evolve is by partnering with a company that values what we are today, and provides the tools we need to grow into the future – we play to our strengths and they to theirs. DICE’s belief in ‘powering’ us but allowing Boiler Room to remain our own independent entity, all of this will enable us to move into a new era and be the best version of ourselves.

Boiler Room‘s extraordinary history began over a decade ago, as a webcam taped to a wall, that opened a keyhole into London’s thriving underground. Since 2010, Boiler Room has built a unique archive spanning over 8000 performances by more than 5000 artists across 200 cities – playing an essential role in supporting and amplifying underground music globally.

The partnership will allow Boiler Room to continue driving its core initiatives and continue to pay all artists for broadcasting – championing diverse artists and scenes through broadcasts, tours and festivals, documentaries, original content, apparel collaborations, and more.

In the past year alone, these initiatives have led to standout moments including a critically-acclaimed celebration of the New South Asian Underground featuring Yung Singh & Daytimers, a showcase of Auckland’s premiere QTIPOC collective FILTH, as well as clothing collaborations with Sherelle & Eris Drew, and grants supporting collectives Nyege Nyege and Masisi in the broadcast space.

Since being founded in 2014, DICE has changed how fans discover and attend events and transformed ticketing. DICE offers fans and the industry a transparent ‘fan-first’ model and mobile-first platform that prevents the secondary resale of tickets and inflated prices.

With a mission to bring people together to enjoy shows, DICE makes it easy for fans to discover and buy tickets in seconds through its innovative technology. DICE has clear upfront pricing, and features such as refunds on sold-out shows and a popular “Waitlist” feature that provides diehard fans with access to the most popular concerts and ensures that venues are at capacity, garnering support from the industry. The platform introduced high-quality livestreaming to its offering last year to great success, having supported over 6400 artists and selling tickets in 147 countries.

A new Boiler Room board has been formed with Terry Weerasinghe, Blaise Bellville, Ibtisam Omer and Phil Hutcheon, and over time this will be grown with new member appointments. This merger will see the expansion of both teams across a number of locations.

Like Mike releases his debut album ‘Pain, Love, & What Comes After’

Like Mike recently surprised fans with the release announcement of his debut album, Pain, Love, & What Comes After. The album is a collection of songs that were written over the past decade, describing different chapters of Like Mike‘s life as an internationally renowned artist touring the globe: the ups, the downs, and everything in between leading up to the moment the world shut down.

Pain, Love, & What Comes After is a heavy hitting album with features like Smokepurpp, Blueface, Wifisfuneral, and rap superstar Lil Baby. The 15-track body of work flows cohesively between songs, with peaks and valleys that craft a pensive story of pain, love, and everything in between.

Following the release of three singles setting the stage for the album’s ultimate release, ‘One Night‘ with Mr Eazi, ‘W Hotel‘ with renowned rappers Smokepurpp and Blueface and finally ‘Lipstick‘ with S3nsi Molly and Jodi Couture; Like Mike provided ample insight as to what listeners could expect from the album.

Available now in-full, the balance of the 12 unreleased tracks see Lil Baby grace the dynamic delivery of ‘Silence‘ alongside additional features from Yung Mavu & Chuki Beats on ‘Butterflies‘.

Like Mike‘s foray into the hip-hop and rap space signifies a monumental shift in direction for the talented music producer and songwriter. Making a splash with this striking assortment of key collaborators, Like Mike embarks on this path with intention and poise.

I’m not trying to control life anymore,Mike explains. “I’m trying to experience it. I’m trying to be present. This album is me being present through so many ups and downs and creating through my experiences.

During a journey that spans over 15 years, Like Mike has achieved a staggering number of career highs and secured #1 singles in a multitude of countries. His 2016 single ‘The Hum‘ went platinum and a collaboration in 2017 with Ne-Yo on ‘Higher Place‘ secured the #1 Billboard Dance position.

This project grew from his need to dig deeper into the sounds of his early years and young adulthood, a blend of genres that were the soundtrack to his life. Goldie releases two new tracks under moniker SUBJECTIVE

Goldie

The production duo, made up of legendary DJ and producer Goldie and revered engineer and producer James Davidson, releases two brand new tracks under the moniker SUBJECTIVE, to be released by Three Six Zero Recordings/Sony Music.

The back to back tracks span genres and themes, leading with drum & bass and techno and taking in dark influences along the way. Pulling in a unique club energy, the arrangements feel like they would be just as much at home in a darkened room full of people as much as they would be with a solo listener lost in their headphones.

On the tracks, Goldie and James explained:

“‘Fathoms’ was about having fun with a hybrid of techno, making it more dynamic, in the way that techno stays very linear, we wanted to have something that moved and gave it a little bit more of a soulful experience; and ‘Dassai Menace’ can be interpreted in so many different ways, it can take you to a dark aggressive place and equally you can be carried away with it’s hypnotic washes of lush chords and arpeggios. That’s the beauty of it.

Dassai Menace‘ also appeared previously on the Louis Vuitton SS22 fashion film ‘Amen Break‘, after being handpicked by Virgil Abloh with Goldie walking in the accompanying catwalk show. Subjective, the creative partnership between producer James Davidson and DJ, producer and musical icon Goldie, has resulted in the pair’s most collaborative venture yet.

Bristling with ideas, the tracks come from a forthcoming project with more music to come before the end of the year.

Andreas Henneberg drops fantastic new EP ‘Lucky Winner’

Andreas has had one hell of a summer. As soon as the restrictions were lifted you could find him all over the place playing festivals and the first club shows in front of thousands of ecstatic faces. So no wonder he rings in the autumn with an incredible energy bomb.

Lucky Winner EP” consists of two tracks already loved and sought after by fans from the streams and real shows. “Lucky” is a wild ride of feisty percussions, a pumping baseline and a wicked vocal that explodes in a frenzy of ludicrousness. It is such a Henneberg tune just packed to the brim with attitude.

And then, the track we have all been waiting for! “Winner” is the rolling counterpart to the wild “Lucky“, the groove shaking and bouncing its way into our hearts. A teasing synthesizer gives small hints about what is to come.

It builds up tension before finally the powerful vocals smoothly infiltrate the song, and you are left mesmerised by what this guy can do. Memories of old times blend with the excitement of the now, while catchy percussions carry possess you and demands you to dance, dance, dance and smile!
