Avalan releases highly-anticipated AMF 2020 anthem: AlterBoyz Festival Remix of ‘World We Know’

On Saturday 7th November, over 7 million fans from all across the globe tuned into the virtual event of the year – AMF presents Top 100 DJs Awards 2020. It showcased the biggest DJ talent and featured a very special show opening by a talented new artist.

The emotional performance by Dutch breakout talent Avalan from an empty Johan Cruijff ArenA marked a tribute to the fans who were unable to party in the iconic venue due to the circumstances that the world has found itself in during recent times. The beautiful melodies and inspiring lyrics lifted the spirits of fans who tuned in worldwide and left fans wondering more about the artist behind the beautiful track.

Valentijn Hoogwerf, better known by his stage name Avalan, is a 24-year-old Amsterdam born DJ, producer and vocalist. Avalan developed a love for music at a very young age as a result of a musical family background. He started exploring his music skills by studying multiple instruments such as piano and guitar and his talent was undeniably bound to take him to great heights in the industry.

He first stepped into the limelight in 2018 under his stage name Avalan, after having worked on multiple projects by a number of industry leaders. Avalan delivered an impressive live set during AMF 2018 where his talent was first noticed by the worldwide audience. In 2019 he locked himself up for most of the year to finetune his records and to focus on shaping and perfecting his sound. The hard-work and dedication paid off as it led to a collaboration with trance legend Armin van Buuren at the end of 2019. The worldwide hit track was ‘Sucker for Love‘ and it was also featured on Armin’s latest album: ‘Balance‘.

The collaboration with Armin van Buuren was so well received by audiences that it led to a full United States tour alongside Armin in 2020 right before the impact of the pandemic affected the logistics of music tours.

During the challenging times that followed in 2020, Avalan went back to the studio and wrote and produced a large number of songs in anticipation of potential shows in 2021. As part of that process, he was inspired to create a track that best describes the feeling of being quarantined and the lack of freedom the world was faced to confront. The track is ‘World We Know‘ and its powerful AlterBoyz remix is the official AMF 2020 anthem.

The remix brings out the distinctive qualities of the original track, starting off with soft delicate piano notes paired with an emotional soundscape that is enhanced by Avalan’s subtle yet sophisticated vocals alongside the breath-taking progressive melody. It then progresses to a compelling bassline with a powerful kick drum and lively synths that perfectly encapsulate the electric energy of the live AMF experience making it the perfect anthem for the festival.

Cat Dealers drop brand-new single ‘Save Me Now’

Following the early-November announcement of their worldwide signing with Armada Music, Brazilian tastemakers Cat Dealers have dropped their first single on the label since their 2019 collab with GoldFish called ‘Colours & Lights’.

Made in collaboration with fellow-countryman Guz Zanotto and vocalist Moore, ‘Save Me Now’ marks the duo’s first exciting step under the wing of the Amsterdam-, New York- and London-based record label.

Boasting four consecutive inclusions in DJ Mag‘s renowned Top 100 DJs list after securing the #52 spot in the results of this year’s poll, Cat Dealers once again demonstrate their innate musicality through ‘Save Me Now‘ after recently turning heads on remix duty for Loud Luxury‘s ‘Cold Feet‘. A surefire way to get listeners off the couch and onto their feet, this record harbors so much dance floor appeal it’s positively bursting.

Cat Dealers: “We had been working on the ‘Save Me Now’ vocals for a while, but decided to send it to Guz Zanotto, a good friend of ours, because we weren’t happy with the results yet. He brought in a lot of super cool suggestions, but we still weren’t really feeling it. That’s when we noticed that this progressive sound was starting to make a strong comeback.

It’s something we’ve always enjoyed, so we saw potential and immediately thought about ‘Save Me Now’. We changed everything to make it sound more progressive and absolutely fell in love with how it came out. We believe that this record will be a turning point for us in terms of sound, allowing us to lean more towards this progressive style we like so much. We’re super excited for our ‘Save Me Now’ and our next releases too.”

Guz Zanotto: “I’m really happy to be working with Lugui and Pedrão, ’cause I’ve been a fan since the beginning of Cat Dealers. The release of ‘Save Me Now’ will be for sure one of the most important moments of my career and the feedback we’ve been receiving is already so cool, I can’t wait till we share it with everyone.

When we first started working on it, we had totally different ideas, especially for the drop. We tried several things and we had some doubts about how to move on with it until we met in their studio in Rio. After working on it for a while, we got to this bass with the drop arps that we really enjoyed, and that’s actually the part that I like the most about this track.”

elrow unveils a brand new VR party experience

Bringing some good news to dance music lovers all around the world, a new VR party experience will transport partygoers from their homes into one of Germany’s top clubs.

Long-term partners Desperados and elrow are taking their lockdown-inspired virtual party series to the legendary Bootshaus for the launch of the virtual version of their world-famous club.

In collaboration with VR company Sansar, the VR club will see big guests, massive takeovers and interactive functionality to bring the party to people’s living rooms. Igniting the party spirit at the premiering event of the VR world on Saturday 28th November, the latest elrow Show powered by Desperados will reach epic new dimensions and enable partygoers to relive the energy and excitement we’ve all been missing in a whole new way.

Partygoers will be immersed in the surreal universe of urban artist Okuda San Miguel and his ‘Kaos Garden‘ concept, bringing the space to life through a combination of bright colours and geometric shapes for a virtual party experience like no other.

Partygoers of legal drinking age around the world can enter the space and customise their personal avatars before seeing the virtual experience come to life – from tuning into the epic track selection from Spanish techno DJs Paco Osuna, Andres Campo and Fer BR, mingling with others, and even enjoying their own ice-cold Desperados at the bar.

The layout of the club’s main room and outdoor areas have been precisely replicated in this virtual environment, which can be experienced in full via the Sansar platform using a VR headset and a Windows PC with a dedicated graphics card. The live streams can also be enjoyed via YouTube, Facebook and Twitch without a VR headset, or via the Sansar app on iPhone or Android (featuring multiple camera angles of the club, DJ and partygoers).

Black Coffee links up with Pharrell Williams on new track ’10 Missed Calls’

South African superstar DJ and producer, Black Coffee has joined forces with musical icon Pharrell Williams and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jozzy on new single ’10 Missed Calls’, out November 20th. Today also marks the full reveal of the tracklist of Coffee’s forthcoming album ‘Subconsciously’ which will be released on February 5th 2021, as well as the launch of the pre-order link.

An emotion-tinged modern pop jam, ‘10 Missed Calls‘ sees Pharrell and Jozzy trade pitch-perfect vocals amidst delicate piano keys and poignant synths. It marks the fourth single release from Black Coffee‘s highly anticipated forthcoming album, following collaborations with UK singer-songwriter Celeste, chart-topper Sabrina Claudio and R&B icon Usher.

A trance classic goes breakbeat with gardenstate’s remix of Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston’s 2004 collaboration, ‘No One On Earth’, out now on Anjunabeats.

From 2004, ‘No One On Earth’ is the 39th release on Anjunabeats. It’s the first Above & Beyond track co-written with Zoë Johnston and the beginning of a momentous artistic partnership.

gardenstate was formed after a chance meeting between Marcus Schössow and American producer Matthew Felnerand in 2008. The pair started creating music together last year and have already supported the likes of Eric Prydz, Sander Van Doorn, Ferry Corsten, Gabriel & Dresden, and Mat Zo. They’ve released on imprints like Yotto’s Odd One Out, Joris Voorn’s Spectrum, and Cosmic Gate’s Wake Your Mind.

One of several remixes commissioned to mark the 20th anniversary of Anjunabeats, gardenstate’s raved-up take on ‘No One On Earth’ debuted last September on Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 400 live stream.

Anna Tur’s creativity keeps opening new horizons. She announced “On Air with Anna Tur”, her new radio adventure, a few months ago and now the DJ and producer announces the celebration of the most special live streaming of her career.

The chosen location is Ibiza. But not the most well-known and commercial Ibiza, but the Ibiza she carries in her blood, the Ibiza she is passionately in love with.

On Sunday 22nd, November, Anna Tur will be heading to Sant Llorenç, the island’s highest mountain, because that is where Ibiza‘s broadcasting center is located. To explain both the importance of this place and the streaming, there’s no one better than Anna Tur herself:

“It’s difficult to express my feelings when all you can probably see and imagine is a load of iron, frequencies and radiation. Behind this cold yet mind blowing place, is where my beginnings in radio can be felt. Not only my experience, but a family story.

This place that I perceive as sacred, is the temple of my journey, of my beginnings, of repeatedly going as a little girl with my father to turn the power back on when we had broadcasting issues. There was no working remotely, no alarms… I saw him drive up at any time of day or night to turn on his radio, the radio that never stopped playing. A place that scared me not only because of its impressive structure, but because I knew that when there was a storm or lightning, I interpreted that life was at stake, there could even be a hurricane, but his stubbornness always made its success, the radio could not be stopped.

In the last few years, I have been here many of times. World’s most immersive festival – EPIZODE has just launched a record label EPIZODE RECORDS. The imprint will be releasing music on both digital and vinyl formats, featuring emerging artists from around the world.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are set to produce and host a series of high-power DJ sets in Sensorium Galaxy. The dance music duo join a growing roster of world-leading electronic artists, including David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren and Carl Cox, who are set to share their music in PRISM, the social VR platform’s electronic music hub, which launches next year.

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are among the most famous names in electronic music. Known for their epic stage performances, the Belgian brothers electrifying live combination of DJ sets and crowd-busting MC’ing has seen them perform around the world at leading clubs and festivals including Tomorrowland, Ushuaïa Ibiza and EDC Las Vegas.
