The Tomorrowland Top 1000 features an excitingly eclectic compilation with a mix of the biggest all-time radio hits, legendary classics and some of the past year’s most popular bangers.

With 5 new entries in the top 10 and 92 new entries overall, this year’s list had listeners on the edge of their seats. Dutch superstar Martin Garrix is the most popular artist in the list with no less than 35 tracks, closely followed by the Swedish legend Axwell (32 tracks), Tiësto (31 tracks) and Armin van Buuren (31 tracks).

Being a pioneering trio in the history of electronic music, Swedish House Mafia is the highest ranked trio, with all their released songs being featured in the list. The Netherlands is the country that is most represented in the Tomorrowland Top 1000 with plenty of Dutch artists, while Martin Garrix‘s collaboration ‘Hold On‘ with Matisse & Sadko ends up as this year’s highest new entry on number 129. Keanu Silva scores the highest climber with his remix of Lost Frequencies‘ track ‘Like I Love You‘, climbing 673 spots all the way up to number 201.

The thrilling Grand Finale was turned into a unique live show with this year’s Top 10 countdown of the final 10 Tomorrowland Anthems and the ultimate number 1 broadcasted by One World Radio host Adam K. A bunch of special guests joined the show to talk about their track in the Top 10 and share exclusive stories with music fans around the world.

Dimitri Vegas talks about ‘Mammoth‘ (2): “I think it was probably the biggest record of the Tomorrowland Aftermovie of 2012. This was the first one that really exploded and became synonymous for Tomorrowland over the years.

John Martin talks about ‘Don’t You Worry Child‘ (3): “I remember the very first time we played this song to a live audience – it was very emotional to hear that people really took the song to their hearts.

To this day, it’s still feels like it connects with people, which is fantastic for a 10-year-old song. Fun fact: the melody for ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ – the actual words – we had them as placeholders. We were always thinking we would change the lyrics for that one, because we thought it was corny to sing it. Then we started writing lyrics and we built a story around that.

Armin van Buuren talks about ‘Blah Blah Blah‘ (5): “It was released a couple of months prior to Tomorrowland and it was my biggest streaming track ever. It was really meant as a DJ tool for myself and I started doing this thing with my hands and all of a sudden it became one of my biggest tracks – I never expected a track like that to blow up like that.”

Afrojack talks about ‘Turn Up The Speakers‘ (9): “It’s amazing that we made it to the top 10! We always knew it was a big song, but number 9 is very impressive. I play this track in all my sets and it always works – no matter what the hype is.

Steve Aoki talks about ‘Pursuit Of Happiness’ (10): “I remember when I made the remix back in 2009, playing it for the first time in my own small club in Los Angeles. Kid Cudi was one of my dear friends and he came to the club and we played it in our booth in front of like 40 people – it was the craziest moment. Kid Cudi standing on the booth, singing on his track and he was so hyped he started taking off his jewelry and giving it away to people.

Claptone collaborates with APRE on anthemic single ‘My Night’

Just turn on ‘My Night‘ and – bam – you’ll be hit by a confetti-cannon of fun. As Claptone puts it: “If I had a surfboard this is one [track] I’d instinctively develop a desire to catch a wave to. It’s one of those that you instantly wanna listen to again after it ends and again after it ends and so on. I really love it with all of my heart.” ‘My Night‘ is co-produced with the almighty Stuart Price and has everything a proper hit requires, it’s sticky like superglue, and only slightly less addictive than a Netflix binge.

It’s no wonder Claptone is “really excited about working on this one with extremely talented UK Indie Pop duo APRE contributing their energetic vocals. If one can believe their bio – and I always do – they are inspired by the socially conscious observational lyricism as alternative indie. Add the smell of early summer, a pinch of French house and Claptone of course and you got ‘My Night‘.”

Setting the scene perfectly APRE and Claptone shout out to all those who’ve had a night out ruined by a close friend or loved one, who they ultimately feel responsible for. Invoking memories of messy nights and bleary mornings.

I was thinking about the theme of the song it brought me back to a night out I had in a club in Manchester that went so very wrong. I decided I wanted this song to be for all those people who were trying to have a good night out, which was then completely ruined by their friend or partner.” – Charlie (APRE)

My Night‘ is simultaneously released with the cult movie inspired official video. Think 80s styling with a heavy dose of feelgood nostalgia throughout. The video follows two teenagers finding a secret underground dancefloor and a place where they can show off their BMX skills. Directed by Keith Musil who has previously worked with Fox, Universal, Interscope, Warner Bros, Vice and GQ TV amongst many others.

This new release follows original singles Golden‘ and ‘Zero‘ and freshly released remixes on Storm Queen‘s ‘For A Fool‘ and Trans-XLiving On Video‘ as well as reworks for pop superstars Ava Max, Dua Lipa, Michael Kiwanuka and Mark Ronson.

Even not being able to tour has not slowed him down, continuing his worldwide visability, he has now performed on over 50+ livestreamed sets across 2020/21, with a staggering total of 63 Million combined views on YouTube. There are also plans ahead to return the most famous club in the world Pacha Ibiza with his now internationally renowned show ‘The Masquerade’, signifying that this year there is still much, much more to come.

Oliver Koletzki unveils next singles from upcoming album ‘Made of Wood’

Oliver Koletzki

Oliver Koletzki continues unveiling his upcoming album, ‘Made Of Wood,’ with another set of singles, “Made Of Cashmere” and “Serpiente Del Ritmo.” These new compositions showcase just how dynamic the longform’s concept of handcrafted electronic music is.

The pack begins with a shimmering “Made Of Cashmere,” which leans toward the melodic techno Koletzki‘s label Stil Vor Talent is known for with hypnotic arpeggios and complex synth layers. True to the theme, however, these elements are balanced out by orchestral pads and wooden drum patterns beneath.

Serpiente Del Ritmo,” featuring ELIH on vocal duties, offers a more organic look at ‘Made Of Wood,’ with its Spanish lyrics and thick layers of piano, percussion, and horns taking listeners straight to the jungles of Tulum that inspired it.

On ‘Made of Wood‘, his ninth full-length album since 2007, Oliver Koletzki embodies the seasoned craftsman, carving out his deeply personal sonic sculptures with a confident, learned hand, while experimenting with a broad range of thrilling ideas and fresh textures. The result is an organically flowing, yet decisively shaped work of art, that naturally concludes a trilogy of albums Koletzki embarked on releasing with ‘The Arc of Tension‘ and followed with ‘Fire in the Jungle‘.

Initially written in Tulum, Mexico, during the pre-pandemic winter of 2019, ‘Made of Wood‘ is physically entwined with the primeval forests that continue to inspire its maker: In the subsequent year it took to complete the album in Berlin, Oliver, aided by numerous live musicians and vocalists, brought his sketches to life with a focus on wooden instruments like djembes, marimbas, santoors or duduks, sculpting a natural sound that’s warm in timbre, rich in groove and literally made of wood.

Thanks to the imperfection of the human hand, the album sings with a bold vibrance that stretches from the LP’s slow carnivalesque opener ‘Caravana De Los Elefantitos‘ to the blue horns and Wennink‘s lamenting coos on the concluding ballad ‘Turn‘. Intermediately, Koletzki‘s rhythmic explorations take the shape of mythic odes (‘Dear Mexican Jungle‘), boisterous tribal dances (‘La Veleta‘), or subdued oriental belters (‘Serpiente Del Ritmo‘ feat. ELIH) – emphasising his control over light and dark tonalities, over organic and synthetic sounds alike.

Most strikingly, Oliver slowly breaks away from the album’s natural feel in the mid-section, in which the disorienting, abstract stunner ‘Picture‘ (with Niko Schwind & Judith Ahrends) rubs shoulders with the synth-crescendos of the bouncy ‘Made of Cashmere‘, while the 14-minute long meditation ‘A Starseed’s Journey‘ makes for a powerful penultimate breather later on.

Next to the meticulous attention to instrumentation and his instinctive touch, these twists and turns underline that Koletzki feels entirely at ease on ‘Made of Wood‘ – like the true artisan he is.

Layton Giordani returns to Drumcode with ‘Hyper World’ EP

Super-talented Techno DJ and producer, Layton Giordani returns to Adam Bayer’s world renowned label, Drumcode and takes the next step in the evolution of his sound with his brand new EP ‘Hyper World’.

Despite the challenging year we all shared in 2020 due to Coronavirus outbreak, Giordani continued to grow in leaps and bounds as a producer.

His second studio album ‘New Generation‘ was a critical success and showcased the breadth of his artistry over 11 tracks, with moods fit for both the dancefloor and afterhours alike.

His latest offering, however, flexes its raving muscle and ambles up for the summer. The title track is bad arse, with swirling pads, trippy arpeggios and subtle flourishes of acid and psychedelica that all combine for a stomping finish.

Fresh in every sense. ‘Astro’ is heavy on drama, driven by a big synth lead that pierces the air with intensity, before a delicious mid-track key change pushes the energy up to eleven and shortly after drops down into a celestial break, before building back up again

EDX & Jess Ball reconnect on ‘Take Me Home’

EDX

Exactly one year on from the release of their airwave-dominating debut collaboration I Found You (Neptune) back in May 2020, prolific Swiss hit-machine, EDX, and exquisite Australian singer-songwriter, Jess Ball, now join forces once again to announce their eagerly anticipated sophomore collab, Take Me Home.

Out now via Spinnin’ Records, Take Me Home explores the deeper, more soulful side of EDX’s vast production repertoire, as Switzerland’s most successful electronic artist shows off his endless studio credentials to deliver yet another unique single, brimming with attitude.

Complimenting Jess Ball’s ethereal topline with a perfectly matched deep house instrumental, the club-oriented vocal cut is built around deep luscious basslines, subtle piano riffs, shuffling tech-house rhythms and an unmistakably catchy synth refrain, which EDX manipulates to extraordinary effect throughout.

Speaking about the new record, EDX commented:

Take Me Home is my first vocal single of 2021 and is a very special record to me. Jess and I had such a great time working on ‘I Found You’, so it made perfect sense to reconnect for another collaboration. Jess really is an amazing artist and an absolute pleasure to work with, so I was super excited about the prospect of getting in the studio together again. It’s a little deeper and darker than our first record and I’m so happy with the result. Hope you guys like it!

Chebo unveils the first official remix of his powerful track ‘Tonight’

Multi-talented DJ and producer, Chebo has just unveiled the first official remix of his powerful track ‘Tonight’.

The track commences with a thirty-two second intro that sets the tone for the vocal line. The vocal color is clean and stylistic; seamlessly synchronizing with the upbeat vibe of the instrumental accompaniment. The rhythmic beat, foundational bass, palm-muted guitar and melodic saxophone combine to provide the perfect platform for the vocal.

The saxophone’s imitation of the main vocal melody adds a creative flare and depth to the overall sound. EMRY’s impressive solo from 2:42 to 2:58 adds just the right amount of dynamic diversity to ensure that this single is engaging from start to finish.

By the time ‘Tonight (Ralf Remix) [with EMRY]’ draws to a close, you’ll find yourself humming along with the catchy hook and in need of hitting that repeat button for another listen.

From the well balanced production and melodic instrumentation, to the creative mix, fans of Chebo, EMRY and Ralf, as well as those who appreciate new music, will definitely want to hear this single.
