Goldie releases ‘Inner City Life’ remix package

Goldie

Goldie’s groundbreaking album ‘Timeless’ turns 25, and to celebrate Clifford Joseph Price — the pioneering producer and DJ announces new remixes of his seminal album track and classic, “Inner City Life”.

Diverse yet crucially characteristic, each remix brings out distinctive qualities that undoubtedly accentuated the 1995 classic – an iconic collage of sounds that capture a fragmented and urbanized London in all its magnificent musical forms.

Binary State executes restraints towards the dramatic and subtle notes of the original interweaving the late Diane Charlemagne‘s expansive and powerful vocal performance with a rubbery tech-house journey. It’s a tightly knit and perpetually driving reworking with a the four-to-the-floor dancefloor pulse.

Drum and Bass don dBridge is enlisted by Goldie himself to provide a seismic, unconstrained and at times amorphous remix; an uncompromising breakdown of the creative boundaries that we experienced in the 1995 original.

Continually challenging a Drum & Bass records accepted norm, and the delicate eccentricities a classic remix opportunity provides, this year’s package also embraces a poignant jazz rendition of “Inner City Life“; a cover that provides not only smooth relief but also, timeless lust for the original masterpiece.

Alongside the relaxed silhouette of the re:jazz cover, both the original radio edit and Roni Size‘s legendary remix that donned the tracks initial 12″, is entirely re-mastered.

The enduring profile of Goldie rose to incredible prominence during the Nineties through pivotal albums Timeless and Saturnz Return, collaborations with everyone from David Bowie to KRS-One and the launching of his (still operational) Metalheadz label.

A complex debut album, Timeless founded a new chapter in the history of the electronic genre; originally reaching no. 7 in the charts and since been celebrated for its unique blend of sublime strings, beautiful atmospheres and sophisticated vocals. Inarguably an ambitious blueprint at the time; Goldie’s production in 1995, fashioned the edgy rhythms and bass of jungle into a newly futuristic model, now globally admired as drum & bass.

TR3AL IS BRINGING A NEW VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE TO HIS FANS EVERY FRIDAY

With COVID-19 case surging once again in the United States, super-talented Electronic Dance Music DJ and Producer, TR3AL is bringing a brand new virtual experience to his fans every Friday night.

Catching up with TR3AL he explained his reasoning for the name of the event (HOUSE PARTY FRIDAYZ) and why it was so important to keep his fans entertained during this pandemic.

TR3AL stated, “With everything going on I wanted my fans to know that I am still there for them during this pandemic. Even though we are not allowed to have concerts or large gatherings, House party’s Fridayz is a way to keep fans entertained on Friday nights.

I wanted to create an experience for fans to party with me every friday night and bring the concert experience to their living rooms. With no clear ending to this pandemic and depression and loneliness becoming normal across the world, it’s very important to connect with my fans during these crazy times.

I felt the best way to connect was to give them a concert type of experience every Friday night. With the first virtual concert kicked off on November 6th, 2020, TR3AL plans on giving his fans a concert-like experience every Friday until the pandemic is over.”

With the release of his brand new single and music video we also wanted to catch up with TR3AL and talk about “NEW DAY“.

Speaking about his new track TR3AL said,

“New Day is a very important song for me. I produced this song when the pandemic started back in March. The story behind the song is very interesting. I want fans to understand that we are in the middle of a pandemic, but no matter what, every day is a new day. We just have to stay positive. We will get through this together and come out stronger once this is all over.

We must remain happy and confident that we will get through this. I was waiting for the right time to release this song and with the COVID numbers rising again, I felt it was the perfect time to release this song. If you listen to the lyrics they are very positive and I believe it will help people through these difficult times.”

Adam Beyer confirms ‘A-Sides Vol.10’ on Drumcode, is set to drop in December

A rare treat for Drumcode faithful: A-Sides Vol.10 is set to drop in December, the second edition of the beloved series to come in 2020.

Fuelled by the extra time and space to be creative during lockdown, Drumcode‘s collective of artists have stepped up. Across 17 contributions, the producers have gone deeper into their sonic repertoire, crafting powerful, yet reflective works that capture the range of the label’s sound.

Jay Lumen leads the way with a rousing riff-driven weapon, ‘Galactic Rainbow‘, while Ramon Tapia brings us the muscular gem ‘Drum Control‘, mixing up ruffneck techno with a barrage of synapse-tickling synths in the second half. Both rousing highlights of the compilation.

Victor Ruiz, Drumcode‘s most prolific contributor in 2020, dishes up ‘Love Story‘, led by a huge vocal lead. Zimmz also returns with ‘Tension‘, which deftly combines deep squelchy grooves with a silky synth interlude. Thomas Hoffknecht follows up his debut on Vol.9 with ‘Escape‘, keeping listeners on their toes with dynamic, choppy shifts throughout. Veerus joins with another stirring addition ‘I Know‘, reinforcing why Beyer rates him so highly.

Elsewhere a string of debutants feature: buzzy newcomer Lilly Palmer gives us ‘Amnesie‘, a brilliantly pummelling and eerie cut; Alex Lentini & Stomp Boxx serve up ‘Expanders‘ mixing up drone effects, trippy vocals and an unsettling melody line; and Patrik Berg‘s ‘Activated‘ is full-bodied techno that drops down into funky rhythms.

Long-time Drumcode family member Bart Skils brings his A-game with the thrilling no-nonsense ‘Solid State‘ that hits like a steam train. Likewise, Alan Fitzpatrick who brings a momentous slab of techno energy with ‘Rochus‘, while Thomas Schumacher, now feeling like a regular on the imprint, crafts another dark techno opus, this time in collaboration with CAITLIN.

There’s even a special appearance by the chief Adam Beyer, who makes a welcome return with the progressive-tinged ‘Changes‘, driven by organic tones and spacey atmospherics. The track stands as his first original contribution to A-Sides since 2017.
