Oliver Heldens remixes Y2K & bbno$’s smash hit ‘Lalala’

Oliver Heldens

With over 850 million cumulative streams, Y2K and bbno$’ infectious ‘Lalala’ has been one of the year’s big breakthrough hits. Charting Top 10 at pop around the world, it has become inescapable, and now gets a huge house rework from the master that is Oliver Heldens.

Cleverly switching between the hip-hop rhythm of the original and his pumping house style, Heldens has delivered a seriously infectious remix here. The low end is amped up to the fullest, with his rubbery bassline wobbling atop his typically snappy house beats.

A raw, detuned electro synth riff mimics the guitar line of the original, and with careful use of FX to increase the vocal intensity, he completes a powerful patchwork of sound. The remix has been teased in many of Helden‘s live shows in recent months, and the reactions have been suitably huge.

Lalala‘ is a collaboration between American producer Y2K and Canadian rapper bbno$. It’s recently had a massive remix version featuring Enrique Iglesias and Carly Rae Jepsen, but this an essential remix for the clubs.

“We were looking for one heavy hitting dance version and we definitely got that. Oliver has one of the most impressive discographies of any house producer & I couldn’t be more excited/honored to have him remix Lalala”, says Y2K.

Oliver Heldens commented on release saying:

“When I was approached to remix ‘Lalala’ I knew straight away a House remix could work really well. On this remix, I went back a little bit to my 2014 Future House sound, which goes really well with that catchy melody of the original. I’m very happy how this turned out and it’s been going off in my sets! Hope you like it too!”

The new remix comes after Heldens latest single ‘Turn Me On‘ has topped charts around the world. Currently sitting at #9 on the UK Official Top 40 Chart, the record has amassed over 21 million streams globally in 6 weeks since its release. Placing #7 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll this year, the Dutch superstar continues to raise the bar as one of the leading DJ/producers in the game.

Sofi Tukker release remix of Laurent Wolf’s classic ‘No Stress’

SOFI TUKKER

SOFI TUKKER have shared their remix of Laurent Wolf’s dancefloor classic ‘No Stress’ featuring Eric Carter, released on Armada Music. The group’s version infuses urgency into the track, letting the impassioned vocal be the focus at times and simmering a dark groove until it explodes with distorted synths and the chill-inducing hook.

The French producer’s original was an international hit in 2008 and had a formative impact on Tucker Halpern, one half of SOFI TUKKER.

“When I first fell in love with dance music and started to learn how to DJ, I remember the first-ever playlist I made and ‘No Stress’ was on it. I remember being so excited to play it in my first-ever set, and it went OFF.

Right when the piano chords started, the room erupted; it is one of those moments that I can recall exactly, the room and the faces of my classmates singing every word! This song had a major impact on my love for DJing and the power of dance music.

I actually went home and made my first bootleg remix of the song in my dorm room, and the next night it was the first semi-original thing I ever tested out in front of people. When the opportunity arose to officially remix it this year, I was beyond hyped.

It was really fun to make because I love the original so much. We didn’t want to take out too much, but we wanted to make it really hit and be able to play it in any sort of set. We’re so happy with how this turned out, and haven’t played a set in the last few months without it. It is a highlight every single time.”

SOFI TUKKER just wrapped up the U.S. leg of their R.I.P Shame World Tour with a rapturous, sold-out show at NYC’s Avant Gardner to celebrate the release of their new EP, ‘Dancing On The People’.

The EP is a collection of songs in English, Portuguese, and Spanish that expand SOFI TUKKER’s global and inclusive vision of dance music with songs full of adventurous ideas and joy.

The R.I.P. Shame World Tour hits Mexico City on November 17 before the European leg begins.

Markus Schulz & HALIENE release ‘Ave Maria’

Markus Schulz & HALIENE

With ‘Ave Maria’, Markus Schulz has given clubland a track unlike any other in 2019. From its premiere moment on – peak-set at Ultra Miami in March, ‘Ave’ held its heat throughout the summer and onto its late August release.

Markus’ tribute to his mother, who passed in the spring, was lent an essential touch by HALIENE, whose classically trained voice brought the intricacies of its song to life.

Picking up plaudits from DJs, audiences and press alike (“HALIENE sounds like she was born singing ‘Ave Maria” commented DJ Mag), the track took on a life of its own.

Now, to give the release the finishing touch it deserves, Markus & HALIENE have added a final dimension to their boundary-breaking production. The eminently touching, hugely affecting official video has gone online and – against the odds – sees ‘Ave Maria’ scale even greater emotional heights.

The celebration of a life and musical catharsis as one, Markus & HALIENE’s official video for ‘Ave Maria’ is available now.
