NERO Announce Third Studio Album ‘Into The Unknown’ With New Single Titled ‘Truth’

Grammy Award-winning, Ivor Novello-nominated live electronic trio NERO returns with ‘Truth’, the first single off their highly-anticipated third studio album Into The Unknown, due out 2024.

It’s been nearly a decade since NERO headlined Coachella‘s Outdoor Stage (2015) where they premiered their second studio album Between II Worlds. Since then, the band has turned their focus towards their side projects and personal lives, playing few live shows, and releasing one track in 2018.

Into The Unknown marks a significant return for the trio, and the closing chapter in NERO‘s album trilogy, which began with the chart topping, Platinum selling and Grammy winning Welcome Reality (2011).

NERO‘s time away has not dimmed demand or expectation around a band that always pushed through the limits of electronic music. The musicality, live ambition and cinematic scale that elevated NERO far beyond the confines of the clubbing landscape from which they emerged, feels more essential than ever.

NERO

Truth‘ was the first track created for Into The Unknown, written four years ago, and acts as a gateway into the concluding chapter of the NERO trilogy, taking listeners full circle, beyond the post-apocalyptic future of the first two albums, into the deep cosmos and whatever may come next for humanity.

Truth‘ perfectly captures the brutality and beauty of NERO, the ethereal quickly supplanted by the ecstatic. A propulsive track, underpinned by a sample of Amanda Palmer reading Neil Gaiman‘s The Mushroom Hunters, a poem that tackles themes essential to NERO – motherhood, scientific reverence, the past and the future and humanities capacity for creation and destruction.

Apropos to the band’s roots – the UK jungle and drum & bass of the 90s and early 00s that served as their inspirational foundation – Into The Unknown pushes NERO forward on their singular journey, even as they reference their origins.

With 2024 commemorating 20 years of NERO, the arrival of their impending album marks the final piece of their epic trilogy.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse Releases 2nd Single “Distant Love” from Forthcoming Album “Unity of Opposites”

Kollektiv Turmstrasse continues to tease the imminent arrival of his new album with an electrifying second single “Distant Love”.

Inspired by his formative experiences of London club culture, “Distant Love” pays homage to the classic sounds of UK breakbeat that heavily framed the direction Nico Plagemann would ultimately take the Kollektiv Turmstrasse project in.

Fusing beautiful strings with trance-tinged melodies, “Distant Love” uses silky vocal chops to tell the story of a developing love and the kind of feelings that are often experienced through the rose-tinted glasses of a new relationship. As one of the more heartfelt tracks on the album, “Distant Love” shows a mature side to the producer and represents the transitional journey that “Unity of Opposites” was born from.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse – Distant Love

At its very core, “Unity of Opposites” remains deeply rooted in the essence of house music – a carefully woven tapestry of warmth, groove, and soulfulness. But Turmstrasse refuses to be limited by one style, taking the listener on a genre-hopping adventure, drawing inspiration from breakbeat to hip-hop, all the way to indie-dance with a wonderful array of vocals.

What you might get if a scientific lab spliced TSHA with Floating Points, Travis Scott, and DJ Boring. “Unity of Opposites” is not a club album made for the dancefloor but a gift to everybody who wants to experience Turmstrasse‘s world in a whole new light: A heartfelt personal listening journey.

As one of the most successful German live acts in electronic music, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, also known by his real name Nico Plagemann, is an influential presence on the global techno and house sound. With regular shifts in his musical direction and stylistic development, he is living proof that change means progress. As an artist who is focused on the liberated space between breakbeat, driving house tracks and anthems for the dancefloor, he is unique and equipped with a compelling discography. “Unity of Opposites” marks his first album since the much-lauded “Rebellion Der Träumer“.

As hype for the album’s release continues to build around the expanding diary of a comprehensive European tour, “Distant Love” is a strong reminder that Kollektiv Turmstrasse is an artist who is now delivering his most fully-realised work yet, both in the studio and on stage.

Enrico Sangiuliano is back with “Glitch In Time” EP on his NINETOZERO label

Enrico Sangiuliano is back with another essential EP on his NINETOZERO label. It features a brand new track of his own ‘Glitch In Time’ and some innovative sounds from next generation talents Alex Lentini & STOMP BOXX, Antonio D’Africa & Sall and Mattia Saviolo. The Glitch In Time EP is released ahead of Enrico’s fifth all night long event, SOLO #5, at D-Edge in São Paulo on November 3rd.

NINETOZERO is Enrico Sangiuliano‘s transient label that will put out 10 chapters in all. Each one is a new development in sound from this techno titan as he looks to disrupt the notion of perpetual music.

This collaborative Glitch In Time EP with Italian producers collective The Sentinels came about after regular conversations about music and production on WhatsApp, when Enrico at a certain point in time shared the concept of ‘Glitch In Time‘. They decided that each of them could approach this chapter in their own signature style. The result is a strong collection of tracks, each providing an intriguing translation of the concept.

Sangiuliano‘s own ‘Glitch In Time‘ opens up and is a twitching techno roller with heavy drums thudding down low and warped synths and freaky vocals all bring the detail as the tension builds. Sweeping filters and pulsing synths ensure maximum impact for this futuristic track.

Enrico Sangiuliano – The Glitch In Time EP

Alex Lentini and STOMP BOXX embraced a challenge in an unexplored field, expanding their knowledge of electronics. They offer two tracks on the digital EP, reflecting their background and analogue techno culture while unveiling a new artistic identity.

Arresto Momentum‘ showcases distinctive raw and deep melody textures, blending rave elements, strobe lighting, raw techno drums, and saw-tooth synth buzz. Meanwhile, ‘Diagonal Matrix‘ is a dramatically charged composition with broken drum beats, futuristic synths, and melancholic chords, guiding the audience into a new sonic world that reveals another side of their personality.

Antonio D’Africa & Sall step up with the heavy techno funk of ‘Skylark‘, that seamlessly captivates atmospheric soundscapes, pulsating bass lines, dynamic percussion, transcendent synth melodies and intricate glitch effects. The track has been meticulously crafted to evoke a profound sense of fluidity and elevation that keeps the dance floor alive and energized.

Finally, Mattia Saviolo layers up scintillating chords full of hope and optimism next to thinking keys and rousing techno grooves on ‘Distant Memories‘, which evoke a faded memory hidden in the depths of our minds, waiting to be rediscovered. Though elusive and fragile, these memories often bear the power to transport us back to moments that have shaped who we are today.

This is a superb EP on NINETOZERO that is full of fresh, meaningful techno tracks that ensure the world will take note.

David Guetta is back with masterful new track ‘Big FU’ ft. Ayra Starr & Lil Durk

David Guetta

Following a year of smash hit after smash hit, superstar DJ and producer, David Guetta is back with his hotly anticipated new single ‘Big FU’ with Afropop sensation Ayra Starr and Chicago rap star Lil Durk.

A refreshing change of pace after a string of dance floor anthems, ‘Big FU‘ shows an unexpected, house-influenced side to David Guetta‘s production skills, with the French mastermind crafting a slick groove around an infectious funk bassline.

Ayra Starr‘s powerful reverb-soaked vocals provide the unforgettable hook: “Big Fuck You to my replacement / I see you’re someone else’s favourite”. Melodic synth stabs and razor-sharp verses from Lil Durk complete the mix, resulting in a smooth and beautifully produced banger. The bold, eye-popping artwork for the single is provided by critically acclaimed French street artist and previous Guetta collaborator, Mr Brainwash.

The hits keep on coming for David Guetta. Earlier this year he also conquered the global airwaves with the megahit ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me‘ featuring the two pop megastars Anne-Marie and Coi Leray. It arrived as the hotly anticipated follow-up to Spotify global #1 and streaming monster, ‘I’m Good (Blue)‘. The track earned Guetta his eleventh Grammy nomination, receiving a nod for ‘Best Dance/Electronic Recording’, has garnered 2.2 billion global streams, charted at #1 on the official charts across 11 markets, and peaked at #1 at US Top 40 & US Dance Radio charts.

Guetta hasn’t stopped there. Just last month he released his Zara Larsson collaboration ‘On My Love‘, already fast approaching 20 million streams, while earlier in the summer there were singles with MORTEN, Bebe Rexha, Shouse and more. Not to mention his remix work: in 2023 alone, he’s released smash reworks of cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe‘s ‘Prada‘ with Hypaton, and Tony Touch‘s ‘Apaga La Luz‘ to name just a couple. ‘Big FU‘ is reminiscent of previous hits ‘Drive‘ with Black Coffee and ‘Memories‘ with Kid Cudi, well-loved features of his back catalogue.

Kölsch processes the past on powerful new album ‘I Talk To Water’, via Kompakt

Danish house and techno phenomenon Kölsch sends hearts soaring on his rousing new album I Talk To Water, out now via Kompakt.

Kölsch‘s fifth album for Kompakt, I Talk To Water, is an intimate, deep-dive narrative that interweaves themes of family and history, whilst acknowledging the process of turning grief into comfort.

The core of the album is inspired by Kölsch‘s father Patrick Reilly, a touring musician during the sixties and seventies who passed away in 2003. Album tracks ‘Grape‘, ‘Tell Me‘ and ‘It Ends Where It Began‘ all use recordings of Patrick‘s dreamlike guitar playing to poignant and delicate effect, fusing the album with the past.

Elsewhere, opener and title track ‘I Talk To Water‘ sets the tone with a synth-soaked masterpiece featuring vocals from Janes Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, while ‘Dreams‘ builds a shimmering soundscape around heartstopping strings. Deeper into the tracklist, sublime lead single ‘An Amazing‘ is an electrifying uptempo groove driven by a delicate vocal line repeating the simple yet powerful central hook: “you’re an amazing”.

Kölsch – I Talk to Water

Pieced together during the pandemic and its numerous lockdowns, the tranquility of this moment inspired Kölsch to reflect on his father’s passing, and how he could memorialize such a significant figure in his life.

He reflects, “This whole album is about the process of loss, and for me it’s been one of my main driving forces in my musical life, the whole emotional aspect of whatever I’ve done has been based in that feeling that he’s not there anymore.”

Delving into a wave of sentimental emotions, I Talk To Water began to bloom. The recordings used in the project provided a gateway for Kölsch, to unite both the past and present in a meaningful way, allowing him to create his most personal body of work yet.

Kölsch is set to grace the release of I Talk To Water with a global tour, spanning Europe, South America and the United States, as well as festivals including Tomorrowland Brazil, Art of the Wild and Amsterdam ADE.

A poignant narrative weaved throughout 12 gripping tracks, I Talk To Water is a treat for fans of Kölsch‘s melodic, emotionally charged techno.

barnacle boi releases his powerful track “Love Hotel” on vibe.digital

Ian Oliver, popularly known as barnacle boi, is truly making his mark on the East Coast music vibes. This Denver native has traveled from snowy landscapes to the heart of the music scene, and his latest track, “Love Hotel”, is just a hint of what’s in store.

While “Love Hotel” is a dreamy concoction of barnacle boi‘s signature sound, I was gripped by the evolution of this artist overall when I stepped back. From the chill mountains of Denver to the buzz of major music festivals, his journey gets more impressive over time. This year alone, he’s rocked stages at Imagine Fest, Wakaan Fest, Elements Fest, and Sound Haven – with an upcoming date in ATL via the infamous DEF events.

His music, a mix of emotions, nostalgia, and some atmospheric trap vibes (better known as ‘wave’), carries the essence of where he’s at sonically at the moment. It’s not just about the music, though. It’s about the stories, the experiences, and the memories that shape an artist. And Ian‘s remixes, especially those classic hits from the 90s and 2000s, have earned him some serious street cred.

It’s not just the fans that are taking notice. Big names like Alice Glass, Finn Wolfhard of “Stranger Things”, and artists such as Bones (TeamSESH), Holly Stell, and Madi Larson, have all given their support to this fast-rising DJ/producer.

With the promise of his upcoming INTROSPECT EP, we’re just scratching the surface of barnacle boi‘s potential. “Love Hotel” is a great start to something looking to be timeless.

Jengi Debuts On Tomorrowland Music With Infectious Track ‘Take U’

Dutchman Jengi brings his electro indie soul flavors to Tomorrowland Music with fresh new single Take U. Take U marks Jengi’s debut on Tomorrowland Music after having performed at the festival for the first time in 2023 as well. The single is yet another example of Jengi’s cutting-edge skills as a producer, releasing most of his music without collaborators or featuring artists.

His penchant for blending a myriad of influences into his music gives it widespread appeal, while maintaining the core elements of soul, groove and funk. His years of experience are evident across his discography, with polished production and an innate understanding of the dance floor on every track.

Jengi has been making waves since his late teens, delivering a slew of impressively mature productions since 2014. Earlier this year his track Bel Mercy became a viral sensation, spreading like wildfire across social media, racking up over 100 million plays.

Jengi – Take U

On ‘Take U Jengi combines pumping beats and vintage rave vibes with soulful vocals for a dance floor-ready track. It has an emotive main riff, powerful drums, and engaging elements like “spinbacks” and riff changes.

This is one of those cuts that will ignite the dance floor and send ravers home on cloud 9. Invigorating and unashamedly joyous, ‘Take U‘ is another masterstroke from Jengi

Verknipt Sells Out 40.000 Capacity Arena Show In 3 Hours

Verknipt ArenA has sold out just three hours after going on sale. An astounding number of 35.000 tickets were sold solely on pre-registrations, followed by the last 5.000 swiftly after going on sale to the general public. Verknipt recently also managed to sell out every single one of their five massive ADE showcases.

Two weeks after announcing their biggest event ever, Verknipt has done the unthinkable, selling out Verknipt ArenA just hours after going on sale. 35.000 pre-registration tickets were sold and 5.000 in the general sale, all without announcing a single name on their line-up.

With hard techno on a steady rise in recent years, Verknipt‘s bet on the genre is quickly paying off, becoming an absolute market leader. Verknipt ArenA is set to take place on Saturday July 20th, 2024 in the iconic Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam.

The Amsterdam based events organization previously stated they would unveil the line-up at a later date, but that it would consist of artists that have grown with the Verknipt brand over the years.

Being able to sell out shows of this magnitude is yet another example of Verknipt‘s incredible ascent to the top of the industry and sets a remarkable precedent for future editions.

Verknipt ArenA will undoubtedly go down in history as a pivotal moment for the hard techno genre. In just three years, the sub-genre’s popularity exploded, with Verknipt undeniably playing an instrumental role.

Just last week, Verknipt managed to sell out all five of their huge Amsterdam Dance Event-showcases, spread out across three venues. In coming months, Verknipt will host a multitude of events in their native Netherlands, as well as across the border in Spain, Germany, Colombia, Poland and Hungary.
