Miami’s III Points Festival announces Dates & First Acts for 2023 edition

Returning to the Mana Wynwood Convention Center on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21, Miami’s III Points Festival will celebrate its success in putting counterculture music on the South Florida map over the last 10 years. III Points has become a staple in Miami’s cultural landscape, now seen as a landmark event for the region’s music community each year.

This year’s festival promises to be a celebration of all that III Points has built over the past decade and a glimpse into what the future holds.

Kicking off its silver-anniversary year, III Points has announced today its phase one lineup of 13 performing acts that embody the festival’s continued commitment to showcasing diverse and groundbreaking musicians.

Leading the III Points bill while representing opposite ends of the musical spectrum are Fred Again.. and Iggy Pop. Fred Again.. tops the lineup as one of the year’s most in-demand names in electronic music while Iggy Pop has cemented his status as a Miami cultural icon since the late 1970s. While also a pioneer of pop punk sounds and a fixture of the Miami music scene, he and Fred Again.. perfectly represent III Points’ innovative and boundary-pushing vision.

Speaking about the growth of III Points and the challenges of staying ahead of the curve, III Points Co-Founder David Sinopoli says “Being ahead of the curve hasn’t been easy and has required taking risks.

The festival has always been more on the bleeding edge of music, rather than the cutting edge. We set out on a mission 10 years ago to build something different in Miami that the counterculture here can identify with. This initiative is flourishing because of all the artists and fans that have supported this idea over the past 10 years.

Other acts announced for III Points this year include Caroline Polachek, former lead vocalist for synthpop band Chairlift who now blends experimental pop, electronic, and classical influences as a soloist, Jamie Jones, Hot Creations label boss and curator of the Paradise global event series, and Berlin-based music collective Keinemusik.

Lane 8, whose advocacy around mental health and wellness aligns with III Points‘ mission to create a safe and inclusive space for all attendees, will also take to one of the festival’s 9 stages in 2023.

Additional III Points performers include UK dubstep and bass aficionado SBTRKT, rising Dominican rapper and singer Tokischa, Paris-based ambient electronic duo The Blaze, psychedelic rock and experimental band Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and VTSS who is best known for her high-energy techno sounds and fast-paced mixing.

The Martinez Brothers and Richie Hawtin will present two specially curated stage lineups, with the Bronx, NY brothers taking over the programming for the Isotropic stage and the techno minimalist at the helm of the S3QUENCE stage.

Two-day tickets for the 10th-year celebration of III Points are on sale at the festival’s website.

Rockin Moroccin & Davide Ruberto team up for a brand new track ‘Sendeya’

May will see the release of ‘Sendeya’ from the chart topping duo Rockin Moroccin and Davide Rubert. Reconnecting for the new single ‘Sendeya’ the pair have created another timeless track, steeped in cultural character. The song was recorded with singers from the Gnawa tribe in southern Morocco and is set to become a form favourite this Summer.

Following on from his previous hit song on Get Physical MusicYou Got The Love’ London-born and raised Rockin Moroccin has been immersed in music for over 15 years. From a love of 80’s electro, he started playing at house parties whilst working at a drum and bass record store and now plays everything from new disco, to tribal and percussive house at places including the iconic Amnesia Terrace, Blue Marlin Ibiza, Burning Man and Abracadabra events in the UK and Miami. On a trip to Morocco he met up with Davide Ruberto to record this new single.

Rimini born Davide Ruberto is a producer, live performer, music composer and pianist who started out making classical music before moving into electronic sounds. He has a relentless passion and global reputation and has produced and remixed stars like Cher, James Brown and recorded for the likes of Columbia, Reprise and Sony.

The Gnawa tribe originated in West Africa and migrated to Morocco. They have a rich musical tradition, which blends African, Arab, and Berber elements. Sendeya is an important concept in Gnawa culture that represents “the intersection of spiritual beliefs, musical traditions, and community identity.” The Sendeya mantra is often played during spiritual ceremonies and rituals, and is believed to have healing and transformative powers.

Here’s what Rockin Moroccin had to say about the track:

“For Sendeya I really wanted to create a Moroccan Afro house track but with a twist. Traditionally the main musical elements in Moroccan music are percussion and strings, but Davide and I wanted to try something different. We wanted to see if making the piano the main instrument in this track alongside traditional Moroccan tribal vocals could work… and it did to great effect. It’s a pleasure to be back on Get Physical and continue to evolve our vision together.

The gorgeous ‘Sendeya‘ is steeped in lush piano chords with smooth and seductive rolling deep house beats. The spine tinging vocals from the Gnawa tribe bring inescapable emotion as the synths swell around and heighten the uplifting experience. Add in organic percussion and you have a most righteous and timeless tune.

This enigmatic and deeply mystical new track brings a unique spiritual house spell directly to the dance floor, whilst continuing to forge the collective of Rockin Moroccin and Davide Rubert straight to the forefront of the international scene. Finding a home on the iconic Get Physical imprint ‘Sendeya’ is already positioned to rise as a club song with global appeal.

Discover The Secret to Professional-Quality Recordings: How Preamps Can Make a Difference

Anyone working in audio recording knows how important quality sound is. Achieving professional-level recordings requires a carefully balanced combination of equipment, technique, and talent, one critical piece being the preamp – an instrument which serves as the first link in the audio chain.

It amplifies and prepares a microphone or instrument signal for recording, guaranteeing it remains clear and distortion-free throughout the procedure. While many novice audio engineers overlook its significance, preamps are essential pieces of equipment that can make all the difference when producing high-quality recordings. Without an excellent preamp, recordings may sound thin, lacking depth and clarity – at best, suboptimal sound quality.

Enhances a Low-Level Audio Signal to Line Level

A preamp can be an invaluable aid in this pursuit, as it has the capacity to boost a low-level audio signal up to line level – the standard audio level used by professional equipment. Line-level signals guarantee consistent and balanced sound in recordings since they eliminate distortion or interference risks.

Without a preamp, your audio recordings may sound flat and unusable for post-production work. A preamp can make all the difference in achieving a crystal-clear, rich sound that meets professional requirements.

Enhances the Quality and Character of Sound Input

Preamps are essential tools in professional audio recording, improving the quality and character of the sound input. Their primary function is to amplify microphone signals to line level so they can be recorded into digital audio workstations or analogue recording devices. But preamps go beyond simply amplifying; they add depth, warmth, and colour to recordings for a more polished and professional finish.

Enhances Audio Dynamics by Altering Gain Levels

Gain levels can be adjusted to achieve optimal audio dynamics by increasing or decreasing their intensity levels. Gain is the amount by which an audio signal is amplified from its source. Preamps allow you to precisely adjust gain levels for perfect recordings, producing clearer and more balanced sound quality – especially when working with various instruments or vocals that each have their own strengths and weaknesses.

By using a preamp to adjust gain levels, you can guarantee that every element of your recording is heard clearly and with the appropriate level of intensity.

Helps Reduce Unwanted Noise in Your Recording

Preamps also have noise-reduction capabilities, which can be extremely helpful in keeping your recordings clean and free of any unwanted sounds. They are designed to reduce crosstalk, hums, buzzes, and other background noises that can interfere with sound input and clarity. Preamps eliminate these noises by creating a balanced signal path and reducing interference between microphones and devices, allowing the audio to be recorded with minimal interruption.

Conclusion

Preamps play a crucial role in the recording process, allowing for a more professional and polished sound. Investing in a high-quality preamp can truly make all the difference in your recordings, providing cleaner and more accurate sound reproduction. Understanding the importance and function of preamps is an essential step in achieving the professional level of audio quality we all seek.

By incorporating a preamp into your setup, you can be sure that you’re harnessing the full potential of your equipment and taking your recordings to the next level.
