Red Axes deliver atmospheric Island Hill ‘Killer Of Fate’ remix for Bedrock

red axes

During a typhoon party on the rugged, volcanic island of Jeju in South Korea, three strangers met by a twist of fate. Island Hill (Al, Barry and Dibby) realised that whilst their musical backgrounds may be wildly contrasting, something really gelled between them.

A shared love of vintage synths, blues guitar and psychedelic electronic music has produced Strangers in Paradise – their forthcoming album, released 10th March 2023 on John Digweed’s Bedrock Records. The album is a musical snapshot of their time together on Jeju and is widely tipped as one to watch this year.

Ahead of their hotly anticipated album, Island Hill have enlisted the amazing Tel-Aviv based Electronic/Indie duo Red Axes on remix duties for their debut single, Killer of Fate and it’s a match made in heaven.

Killer of Fate (Red Axes Remix) is released on 10th February, ahead of Island Hill’s forthcoming album Strangers in Paradise. Opening with a driving bassline, shakers and vintage synths, Killer of Fate (Red Axes Remix) breaks briefly into a soulful blues/folk vocal, then continues with the brooding energy of an oncoming typhoon. You can feel that something is coming. That something is the most dreamy, pacific blues riff, with joyous, psychedelic chords ringing out underneath, making you feel like the storm has passed and you are now bathing in the beautiful pacific island sunlight.

Island Hill have produced one of the freshest, most original sounds for decades, from a melting pot of backgrounds and ideas in the studio. It’s no wonder that the electronic music legend John Digweed snapped them up for his label, Bedrock and knew how well Red Axes would remix this incredible track. They were only too happy to be offered a remix from “one of the founding fathers of electronic music.”

John Digweed said of the Red Axes’ remix: “I’ve been a big fan for a long time now and when we were discussing remixes for Killer of Fate by Island Hill, I thought they would be perfect to remix it and they’ve done such a great job with it.”

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, many people are looking to spice up their playlists with passionate tracks. Take one listen to Tim Clark’s new single, “Forgiving Hearts” and it is clear that this song comes at the perfect time.

Collaborating with the incredible vocalist Robin Vane, “Forgiving Hearts” tells an emotional story of overcoming addiction and finding forgiveness in your relationship for the struggles it has caused in the past. The deep and meaningful lyrics are accompanied by ethereal soundscapes and a hypnotic bassline. Fusing multiple sound components together, “Forgiving Hearts” is an infectious hybrid of a pop ballad and EDM tune.

While “Forgiving Hearts” emits an aura overflowing with love, Tim has demonstrated his affinity for music in a variety of other ways. After founding an extremely innovative company called Tradebloc Inc., Tim decided to dive more into his career as a DJ and producer. Since then, he toured across the world, signed to Warner Music Group, and released hit singles like “Wake Up” and “Can’t Sing”.

As the newest installment in his musical journey, “Forgiving Hearts” is a vessel for Tim to pour his heart out to his wife. This melodic masterpiece showcases his artistic vision and dedication to his craft. It signals the promising future ahead for Tim as he continues to captivate listeners with his signature sound.

“‘Forgiving Hearts’” was written as an open love letter to my wife. The only way to be able to have success in a long-term relationship is that both [people] have to have ‘Forgiving Hearts’. Now, I wrote the song to leave the reasonings open to anyone’s interpretation. In my case, it was about a battle with addiction: my wife had had an issue with gambling and she was able to beat it. I’m so very proud of her because it took its toll on our family. But, we have forgiving hearts and better days are ahead of us.”

Bedouin reveals their mesmerizing lead single “Voices In My Head”

Bedouin reveals their entrancing lead single “Voices In My Head” from their long-awaited debut album Temple of Dreams, coming later this year.

Voices In My Head” features Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe showcasing their vocals in a mystic duet that weaves thrumming energy through a swath of commanding percussion. The single is out now via the Miami-based duo’s label Human by Default.

The musicians, singer-songwriters, and producers have spent the better part of a decade fine-tuning their sound, which draws as much from their Middle Eastern heritage as it does their world travels as DJs playing iconic venues across the globe.

Bedouin Voices In My Head

Selecting “Voices In My Head” was an important choice to set the tone for the album, which Malki explains is a chance to “experiment and push the boundaries.”

It differs from their previous work, as the album is intended to be a deep listening experience for the fans, rather than a slew of club cuts. The multi-talented artists sought to create a timeless sound in Temple of Dreams.

Malki outlines that the album lies between “what we play on stages around the world and what we’re capable of writing and producing as musicians and producers. We wanted to exceed expectations and present something that you might think or feel you’ve heard before, yet it’s something completely new—not what might be expected from us.”

Pulling influences from “all across the musical spectrum, from different eras,” Bedouin felt that “Voices In My Head” was the song that best defines what this next chapter means to them. Abousabe shares that the track “captures the overall essence of the album. It was one of the first duets that features both Tamer and myself. It felt very much like Bedouin, and that’s why we’re starting with an original from the two of us.”

As they prepare to embark on their first-time album release and their beloved Saga residency at top Ibiza club Pacha, Bedouin brings mystique and complexity to the dancefloor with “Voices In My Head“. The genre-bending new music from Bedouin is the sign of two artists at the top of their game.
