Carl Cox announces show at London’s iconic Wembley Arena

Carl Cox

There’s no stopping Carl Cox right now… Hot off the heels of last week’s album news, the electronic music legend announces he’ll be performing a very special show on September 17th at London’s iconic Wembley Arena.

Of course Carl is no stranger to playing in front of huge crowds, he’s spent his whole career performing to thousands all over the world. Whether that be at his 15-year residency at Space, Ibiza, the world’s biggest clubs, festival stages or even Berlin Love Parade where he performed to an estimated 1.5 million people – Carl takes it all in his stride.

But this is a man who doesn’t rest on his laurels. Carl likes a new challenge and this will be his first ever headline show at the OVO Arena Wembley. It will also be his first time performing his brand new album ‘Electronic Generations‘ completely live. The 17-track album is out the day before, September 16th via BMG.

Carl Cox: “This has been in the planning for a few years. I felt like it was a good opportunity to show the world I can do a live electronic showcase moving from a DJ to a live electronic artist. And it gives me the chance to showcase the album in its entirety.”

“I’ve never done this kind of show before, so it really is a first for me. All my live shows so far have been hybrid live/DJ sets, with Wembley this will be a full live electronic show where anything could go wrong at any time. It’s a big deal for me, but the butterflies are a good thing! This is going to be something special and something you’ve never seen from me before. I’m not just a DJ anymore – being a live artist is something else entirely.”

Fans that have already witnessed Carl‘s mind-blowing hybrid-live sets will have had a little taste of what to expect from this show, but Wembley will be next level, not only in terms of Carl’s performance, but also in sound, visuals, and the entire production. Support will come from some of his Awesome Soundwave label live artists and you can expect a few special guests too.

Electronic Generations‘ is Carl’s first album release in over 10 years. Having been experimenting with his hybrid-live DJ sets the last few years it was during the first lockdown he finally had time to focus on putting this sound on record, spending months in his Melbourne studio creating music as a live electronic artist. The result is Carl Cox at his best, a tour de force which you can feel he has given everything to. It’s an insight into the heart and soul of a hugely established and much-loved artist who 30 years into his career, is still keen to take bold risks and create something entirely new.

Damian Lazarus Announces the Return of Day Zero Masada: Dwellers of the Dead Sea

Damian Lazarus‘ Day Zero remains an essential marking of time for the global electronic music community, a signal of new beginnings and a party that connects the physical and spiritual realms.

Founded in the jungles of Tulum in 2012, the event has grown from a humble gathering into one of the world’s most celebrated festivals. No matter which sacred grounds it inhabits, Day Zero brings forth earth shattering music curation combined with industry-leading production, creating the ideal environment for dancefloor transcendence. From the ancient Mayan civilizations, the elite experience-crafters now focus on the Bedouin tribes and nomadic peoples of all creeds and cultures that have crossed the Dead Sea region.

Today, Damian and his dedicated team celebrate the return of Day Zero Masada: Dweller of the Dead Sea, touching down at the historic mountain of Masada and lowest part of the world on September 16, 2022.

Known since its 2019 launch as a gathering as deep and otherworldly as the land on which it is hosted, revelers will be guided through a hero’s journey from sundown to sunrise amidst the great expanse of the Dead Sea. It is here that the frequencies of the world’s best electronic music echo through canyons carved over millennia, a sacred pilgrimage first set forth by Canaanites, Reubens, Gads and many others. 15,000 party people came from all over the world to celebrate the first edition, and when Damian played a reworked version of Bill Withers, “Lovely Day,” as the sun came up, the desert went into a mass of joyful madness.

The Mountain of Masada is one of Israel’s most storied historical locations, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that sits on the shores of the Dead Sea and traces its origins to 30BC. Dancing as the sun rises over the Jordanian Mountains with the world’s best party people remains one of global rave’s most breathtaking experiences.

As always, Damian Lazarus and his team take the utmost care to honor and protect the sacred lands in which Day Zero takes place. The festival remains committed to its leave no trace policy for attendees, carbon emission offsetting, and sustainable event production that includes heavy emphasis on recycling and biodegradable materials. After success as the first plastic-free music event in Israel during its first iteration, guests can expect this tradition to be continued in 2022. Furthermore, attendees can count on the ability to revel in elaborate and beautiful performances from the Day Zero circus team, as well as art installations, desert sculptures and surprises at every turn.

Despite its global expansion and renowned pedigree, Day Zero’s ethos of creating peak experiences at historically elevated and beautiful locales remains unchanged. Lazarus knows well that it is only by harnessing this connection between the ancient and modern worlds that humanity can truly understand its place in this next chapter. Together with the Tripping Productions team, Day Zero will continue to raise the bar as it synthesizes nature, artistry, and technology in new and innovative ways.

ANNA & Jon Hopkins team up on fantastic “Deep In The Glowing Heart (Night Version)”

ANNA

Jon Hopkins reveals a transcendent new collaboration with Brazilian techno producer ANNA. Evolving over a month-long trans-Atlantic collaborative process, “Deep In The Glowing Heart (Night Version)”, feels like an explosive release of energy, inspired by Hopkins’ return to regular DJing this year. With early versions of this track being premiered to huge crowds by both artists at their DJ sets across the world – including ANNA at Coachella, and Hopkins at Fabric – the Night Version is now available to hear widely for the first time.

The original version of “Deep In The Glowing Heart” is found on Jon Hopkins‘ latest studio album Music For Psychedelic Therapy, released in November last year. Talking about the song, Hopkins said there is a feeling that “music can cleanse you, music can guide you through”. The Night Version takes you on a very different journey.

Hopkins says of the collaboration:

“I first came across ANNA’s music through her track Hidden Beauties, which I found myself playing in DJ sets all the time and always goes down so well. I then asked her to remix Singularity and the results were so amazing I was super keen to work with her again but in a more collaborative way, rather than just handing over stems. We went back and forth a lot and it flowed really well. I love how this one turned out, it’s such a meeting of our two styles.”

Speaking about the track ANNA said:

“It is a big honor to be able to create music together with Jon. His music is part of my daily life, part of my meditations, my long walks and contemplative moments. My remix for his track ‘Singularity’ had a huge impact on my career and getting to know Jon better since then, and collaborate on this version of DITGH, it feels like our relationship has come full circle!”

Music For Psychedelic Therapy was Hopkins‘ first full-length since sister albums, the GRAMMY-nominated Singularity (2018) and Immunity (2013), it was a departure in sound from these records; “an album with no beats, not one drum sound, something that is closer to a classical symphony than a dance / electronica record.”

Alongside festival appearances this summer, Jon Hopkins is pleased to present several special playback events where there will be an immersive playback of Music For Psychedelic Therapy in full. Having run several of these gatherings previously in London, Austin and Los Angeles, upcoming dates include Wilderness Festival and Ireland’s Body & Soul Festival.

Jon Hopkins has recently composed the score in 360 spatial sound for Unboxed Festival‘s Dreammachine. Similarly positioned to Hopkins most recent album, Dreammachine is a multi-sensory experience based on Brion Gysin‘s original flicker device and aims to unlock the mind through lights and music.

SEXPAYS Drops His Strongest House Single To Date In ‘CLUBKILLER9000’

Putting forth what is now his 3rd release under this alias, SEXPAYS returns with another house-infused single. “CLUBKILLER9000,” zones in on the golden era of house music, mixing in soulful-elements of classic house together with a mix of modernity.

As infectious as it is hypnotic, the work not only showcases the quality this solo DJ/producer is capable of, but simultaneously showcases a greater definition to what his signature sound currently is. Blasting out four-on-the-floor rhythms and basslines that are easy to eat up, SEXPAYS have dished out a single that is dynamic – easy to enjoy whether a listener is in the car, at the gym, or in the club.

Edgy and at times explicit, the quasi-unrevealed solo DJ/producer does not play it safe and his content radiates this sentiment and then some. SEXPAYS received a perma-ban twice from leading streaming platform Twitch due to ‘mature content.’

The incident inspired him to pivot more toward the tongue-and-check vibes the NYC underground scene has to offer, dodging the grip of the boys in blue while bringing his electronic sets to life for those willing to risk attending the illicit parties.

The movement is just getting started for SEXPAYS, having his finger in multiple pies and his sights set high, his growth trajectory is set to reach new planes as the project begins to roll into its 3rd release.
