Carl Cox finally announces first album in 10 years with new single “How It Makes You Feel”

DJ legend Carl Cox finally reveals details of this brand-new artist album, ‘Electronic Generations’ his first record in over 10 years – out September 16th via BMG.

With the announcement also comes another new track release, ‘How It Makes You Feel’ with Nicole Moudaber, out now. This techno juggernaut is the second ‘pre-mix’ release from the album, following the first single, ‘Speed Trials on Acid’ earlier this year – a collaboration with his friend and fellow DJ Fatboy Slim.

With its relentless synth chops and pounding melodies, ‘How It Makes You Feel’ levitates into a ruthless percussion delirium, before a high octane breakdown tops off the hardcore house techno hybrid sound. It’s another bold statement from the King of techno and another exciting taste of his forthcoming new album ‘Electronic Generations.’

How It Makes You Feel’ is the second time Carl and Nicole have collaborated, following their acclaimed 2014 release ‘See You Next Tuesday.’ Nicole first came to the attention of Carl when she signed to his label Intec Records back in 2009. Since then the pair have become firm friends. Carl invited Nicole to remix his own track ‘Chemistry’ in 2011 and Nicole has played alongside Carl at countless festivals and clubs including his Carl Cox & Friends festival stages and Carl’s historic Space Ibiza residency. When the opportunity arose to collaborate again, neither hesitated.

Carl: “In today’s darkness of techno I wanted to create something more jovial. So the original is quite an easy track to enjoy, it’s very bubbly and bouncy. But with this new version Nicole has made a very dark twisted re-imagining. It’s now very much epic techno – which you have to play from beginning to end to get the full experience. It takes you on a journey, and it just gets stronger and stronger with its twists and turns.

Nicole is a genius. She’s able to take my original concept which might not be totally the kind of record she would make, but she likes a challenge and she set the bar high and ran with it. I think she’s done a wonderful job with this one.”

Nicole: “When Carl asked me to collaborate again, this time on one of his new album cuts, I knew this track had to deliver that high-powered energy and rhythm that we always bring when we perform. ‘HOW IT MAKES YOU FEEL’ has been absolutely smashing dance floors worldwide, so I am excited to finally unleash this monster tune!

Ignited by an internal combustion engine fueled by raw emotion, Nicole Moudaber is one of the techno world’s most iconic and hardworking contemporary artists. The global reach of her MOOD empire has led to Nicole curating In The Mood festival stages at the world’s biggest events: Electric Daisy Carnival (New York, Las Vegas & Orlando), California’s Escape, and BPM Festival (Mexico & Portugal) and she’s played every clubbing institution possible including DC-10 in Ibiza, London superclub fabric, New York’s Output, and a long list of clubs across multiple continents including North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

From the birth of dance music culture to the global force that electronic music is today, Carl has been an innovator at the forefront every step of the way, ‘Electronic Generations’ is the next stage in this journey and the beginning of an exciting new chapter as an album recording artist with BMG.

Showcasing a fusion of Carl’s unique live electronic sound, the epic 17-track ‘Electronic Generations’ is the result of Carl’s mind blowing hybrid-live sets which he’s been successfully showcasing over the last few years. Anyone that’s been to one of these shows will have witnessed Carl in his element, remixing, producing and creating music while he plays.

With the first lockdown Carl finally had time to focus on putting this sound on record, and spent months in his Melbourne studio creating music and experimenting as a live electronic artist. The result is Carl Cox at his best, a tour de force which you can feel he has given everything to. It’s an insight into the heart and soul of a hugely established and much-loved artist who 30 years into his career, is still keen to take bold risks and create something entirely new.

Carl Cox: “I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to share this album. As a live artist and a DJ I get to play all over the world and to see people enjoying the shared experience of being together and dancing. I’ve pulled together all the elements that I’ve learned from watching those crowds, added my sound and tried to bring you a true electronic music experience.”

Carl Cox has always been at the top of his game. A veteran of acid house and a pioneer of British rave culture embedded deep within the fabric of electronic music history, his ever evolving sound and relentless energy means that he remains one of the most in demand DJs on the planet. A musical ambassador, a dance music pioneer, label owner, three deck wizard, King of Ibiza – you name it, Carl’s been there and done it, never losing sight of his passions – playing music, breaking tunes and celebrating life. 2021 saw Carl release his first ever autobiography Oh Yes Oh Yes which topped charts and won press acclaim everywhere.

Electronic Generations’ is out September 16th via BMG. The digital version of the album also comes with a second volume of pre-remixes, including the new track ‘How It Makes You Feel’ with Nicole Moudaber, ‘Deep Space X’ with Juan Atkins and ‘Speed Trials on Acid’ with Fatboy Slim.

Adana Twins Drop Official Remix of Joplyn – Can’t Get Enough

adana twins

Following an impressive run of critically acclaimed releases on the likes of Diynamic and Rose Avenue Records over the past twelve months, Hamburg-based DJ duo Adana Twins now look to continue their prolific run of first-rate studio output with the unveiling of a brand new official remix for hotly-tipped, German artist Joplyn. Revisiting Joplyn’s Watergate debut from December 2021, Benjamin and Friso return to the long-standing Berlin-based imprint for the first time this year, as they present their own emphatic remix of Can’t Get Enough.

The majestic, seven-minute cut sees the TAU label bosses breathe a sinister midnight energy into the spellbinding original, conveying a hypnotic web of industrial analog instrumentation, distorted bass and dynamic production techniques.

A complex, emotionally charged delivery underpinned by electric guitar refrains, ethereal samples and pulsating four-four beats, Adana Twins’s trademark amalgam of thrashing, retro-futuristic club music shines front and centre, as the in-form pair pulls out all the stops with another grandiose, dancefloor weapon.

Since their first big break in 2012 the Adana Twins have established a sterling reputation, refining their sound constantly, pushing the boundaries of their musical ambition and evolving organically with the passage of time. Driven by a deep-seated desire to transmit emotion through electronic music while expanding their creative horizons, the German duo have been working together since 2006, merging Benjamin‘s love of hip-hop and Friso‘s passion for club music to produce a series of highly-regarded releases that form the foundation of their global success.

Fideles reimagine single “Otherside” from Monolink’s latest album “Under Darkening Skies”

Hailing from Taranto in Southern Italy and made up of Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti, Fideles is renowned for shaping music that perfectly balances epic and melodic. They have produced a remix of Monolink’s track “Otherside” for release on Embassy One Records which adds even more depth and atmospheric synths to the already ethereal track by the German electronic music mainstay.

Paired with Monolink‘s highly emotional lyrics and soothing vocals, Fideles‘ heavy bass and melodic riffs have given the track an energetic, clubby alter-ego that instantly creates dance floor hysteria. Jam-packed with tribalistic synth hooks, the almost seven-minute-long track transcends through a journey of powerful soundscapes.

While led by a driving bassline, the Italian duo’s subtle elements layered throughout, gradually building up emotion and energy as it progresses. The remix perfectly resonates with Monolink‘s lyrics asking “Am I losing my mind? Welcome to the other side” with the track’s bassline slowly building up until the almost otherworldly hook comes into play.

Fideles have already made their mark on the global dance music scene through releases on a wide-ranging pool of imprints like Bedrock, Poker Flat, Stil Vor Talent and more recently Afterlife, Innervisions and Correspondant. With their signature sound of combining a potent mix of mesmerizing layers, hypnotic percussion and euphoric swells, Fideles have drawn the interest of the underground scene’s most influential names such as Laurent Garnier, Solomun, and Job Jobse.

In 2018, their single “Resonant” was included on Tale Of Usfabric97 compilation CD, whilst “Lotus” was featured on Afterlife‘s ‘Realm Of Consciousness‘ Compilation.

With over a dozen years of experience in their back pockets, Fideles are only aiming upwards, with more of their timeless pieces set to enchant dance floors worldwide.

German singer-songwriter and electronic music producer Monolink is a household name in the scene due to being a fascinating and versatile musician with a narrative structure of songs that compels the forward thrust of electronic rhythms. Guitar chords merge into synthetic pad sounds, hypnotic bass vibrations meet emotional vocal parts, and passionate physicality meets sublime stimulation for the mind.

Tomorrowland festival presents a magnificent 60-meter-long mosaic stairway ‘The Stairway To Unity’

Tomorrowland festival never stops surprising its fans. The hardworking team behind the world’s best electornic dance music festival has just unveiled a magnificent 60-meter-long handmade mosaic stairway with more than 5 million mosaic stones as a symbol of unity in De Schorre.

The magnificent 60-meter-long handmade mosaic stairway is located on the legendary Mainstage amphitheatre at the beautiful recreation area De Schorre in Boom (Belgium), which is home to the festival grounds of one of the most iconic music festivals in the world.

The stairway represents 700 square meters of mosaic in its entirety and counts more than 5 million hand-cut pieces of mosaic, which have all been traditionally baked and cut into unique mosaic tiles in a small village in Italy. One by one, these tiles were hand laid to form ‘The Stairway To Unity‘, symbolizing Tomorrowland‘s most important value, as the festival unites people from more than 200 countries across the globe each summer in Belgium.

Specially envisioned and designed by the creative team behind Tomorrowland, ‘The Stairway To Unity‘ is the result of a close international collaboration with Parisian mosaic expert Jean-Christophe Duperron, Cuban artist Michel Herrera Cuello and Italian company Mosaici Moruzzi – the most skilled mosaic artists all joining forces to craft a masterpiece of truly epic proportions.

People are guided up the 60-meter-long mosaic stairway past the mythical beauty of Mother Earth and Mother Nature looking at each other; between the two faces, a winding path forms upwards. The descent is a giant dragonfly, in which many small details can be discovered. ‘The Stairway To Unity‘ is both a starting point and an ending point, calling on all visitors during the festival, as well as throughout the year, to spread the positivity and connection they experience at this magical place and green oasis.

Here’s what French mosaicist Jean-Christophe Duperron had to say about the mosaic:

“There are approximately 5 million pieces in this mosaic. It’s not as easy as taking a piece and placing it just like that. We first take a piece which we cut and adjust until we get the perfect little piece to fit in the mosaic. One person works on one piece, so 5 million pieces means endless hours of work. Let’s say this project represents approximately 15.000 hours of work.”

Speaking about the project Cuban artist Michel Herrera Cuello said:

“This project isn’t just a decorative project. The most important is not the beauty of the stairway but the message that it delivers: the path to save our planet begins with tolerance and a respectful dialogue between each other.”

Italian company Mosaici Moruzzi: “Forming a team of 20 mosaicists to perform this 700 square meters mosaic in 6 months was truly an extraordinary experience.

Here are more details about this magnificent mosaic:

-5 million hand-cut mosaic stones
-700 square meters of surface area
-Length of stairs: 60 meters
-20 mosaicists
-15.000 hours of work
-More than 3 years to go from idea to reality
-8 months of baking and shredding in Italy
-More than 6 months of laying mosaic tiles
-5 months of building and installation work in De Schorre in Boom (Belgium)

The mosaic staircase is Tomorrowland‘s third permanent public art installation in De Schorre, after introducing the ‘One World Bridge‘ by Arne Quinze in 2014 and the ‘Magical Troll Forest‘ by Thomas Dambo in 2019, creating pleasure and value for everyone to enjoy the unique and beautiful scenery of De Schorre all year long.

Enrico Sangiuliano unveils the first chapter “Silence” in the NINETOZERO saga

A luminary of anthemic and melodic-driven techno, Enrico Sangiuliano‘s path to the upper echelon of dance music has been a rapid, yet authentic one. Taking us on his newest exploration into the world of sound design and story-telling, the Emilia-native unveils the first chapter in a series of opuses under his time-limited NINETOZERO record label. The highly-anticipated countdown of releases begins today with number 9; the 4-track “Silence” EP – out now across all streaming platforms.

The extended-player opens with the reserved ‘inner mix’ of “Silence“; a cinematic masterpiece that challenges the format and flow of techno cuts and instead, radiates a measured and reflective spirit. Bright, twinkling synthwork ebbs and flows between its crisp percussion and distorted bassline, creating a push and pull effect that allows each element its moment in the spotlight.

The second offering, “Future Dust“, is teased with the sound of a ticking clock that morphs effortlessly into a strong percussive line, commanded by the raw hollow sensibilities of its kick.

The distinct ticking returns to welcome in the break, bringing with it a hypercharged melodic sequence and pitch-bending rave stabs. The components soon flurry together in preparation for the monumental drop, which is succeeded by an unrelenting peak-time worthy drive to the finish.

New Expression Of Love” is the next to play; a quirky cut with plenty of intrigue and unpredictable twists and turns. Laced with offbeat synth hits that ooze a nostalgic timbre, the tune’s intro airs a subtle swing groove. As it reaches its all-important core, we’re cloaked in an intoxicating melody that serves as pure rapture for the ears, and will no doubt satiate the modern audience’s craving for euphoric sequences.

Entering the break, Enrico flares his experimental capabilities, providing us with a moment of break-beat bliss that’s fuelled by acid goodness. A ‘vocal mix‘ of “Silence” rounds out the EP with the distinct mantra, ‘we live in silence’, whilst its modular ‘beeps’ signal a countdown clock in reference to the project’s embedded concept of time.

Championing music on a deeper conceptual level, Enrico‘s NINETOZERO output is a reflection of his tenacious appetite for evolution and refinement. Producing with a level of finesse well beyond his years, his artistic vibrancy has ensured quick elevation to the top, all the while maintaining a sound that is discernibly his own. Now standing as one of the circuit’s most cherished visionaries, and with an unrivalled back catalogue of Beatport No.1’s to his name, the contemporary sound designer’s first and forthcoming bodies of work under the NINETOZERO umbrella are further proof of his impending rise to dance music royalty.
