Blond:ish, Shiba San, Jamie Jones, Paco Osuna, Claude VonStroke, Joseph Capriati, Claptone, Jansons, Piem, Nicolas Masseyeff, Maxim Lany, Dan Marciano, DJ T, Phil Fuldner, Golf Clap, Funkerman, Tunnelvisions, Marsh, Vanilla Ace, Kryder, Michel de Hey, Acid Pauli, Mirko di Florio, Ruben Mandolini, Sleepy Tom, David Vendetta, Ante Perry, Villanova, Marco Lys, 1979 and Plastik Funk.

Above & Beyond releases ‘Flow State: Healing With Nature’

Above & Beyond

Above & Beyond releases ‘Flow State: Healing With Nature’, a new pack of meditation tools and ambient field recordings designed to elicit a deep state of relaxation and calm. Featuring an extended original piano piece set to an archival talk by Elena Brower where she discusses the process of meditation.

I began recording the sounds of nature at different times of the day and in different weather. I found these recordings healing, inspiring and calming. Taking them to the studio, I wanted to share this feeling with the world. So, we made these meditation tools to help others connect with nature, even those of us living a more urban lifestyle.
Paavo Siljamäki of Above & Beyond

In 2019, GRAMMY-nominated trio Above & Beyond briefly stepped away from the noisy world of dance music. The result was ‘Flow State’: 17 ambient and piano-based compositions. A reaction to the stress of touring life and described by the band as “music tools for yoga, mindfulness, and mental fitness”, ‘Flow State‘ was picked up by global mental health phenomenon Calm, featured in The Times and NME, and had extensive radio play on BBC Radio 1 and Sirius XM.

‘Flow State’ yoga sessions were hosted in 17 cities around the world in collaboration with New York-based yogi Elena Brower and the DAYBREAKER community.

Fast-forward two years and ‘Flow State‘ music can be found in the world’s biggest yoga and mindfulness playlists on Apple Music, Amazon, Deezer, and Spotify and has been streamed over 70 million times.

The Flow State phenomenon continues on ‘Flow State: Healing With Nature’, a new pack of meditation tools and ambient field recordings designed to elicit a deep state of relaxation and calm.

After months of lockdowns and isolation, many of us have felt overwhelmed as we begin to return to social life. Meditation practice can offer a great opportunity to center ourselves,Paavo says.

At the center of this new release is an extended, half-hour original piano piece set to an archival talk by Elena Brower where she discusses the process of meditation. Recorded in a single take, this hour of original music is an entirely improvised, live musical response to Elena’s words.

The EP also includes four ambient soundscapes recorded in the forests of Finland.

We hope you find Elena’s talk inspiring, and enjoy these meditative ambiances. See which meditation feels good for you, and transport yourself to mother nature for a short time each day,Paavo adds.

Orjan Nilsen unveils new DJ Governor single: ‘Memoirs’

orjan nilsen

It goes without saying that a lot of people have come to know hurt and sorrow during the global pandemic, and some have been hit more intensely than others.

For Orjan Nilsen, these times have been particularly challenging. Not only has his entire life changed drastically due to the effect of COVID on the music industry, but he also nearly lost his mother to an unforgiving condition that requires constant care and was hit with a surprising diabetes diagnosis after suddenly waking up in a hospital.

But it would be unlike Orjan Nilsen to let this drag him down. Having no choice but to alter his way of living in order to physically function, he set about to lose weight (20 kg so far) and get in shape, resulting in both better health and better music. And his latest DJ Governor single called ‘Memoirs‘, which will be released on June 18, serves as the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

A song that resembles the old times and simultaneously looks toward the future, ‘Memoirs‘ sees the return of the Norwegian DJ and producer’s beloved DJ Governor moniker. From the soaring synths to the nostalgia-laden melodies, this track harnesses more than enough power and emotion to get the global Trance crowd’s everlasting appreciation and give them something to draw strength from when times turn tough.

Here’s what Orjan Nilsen had to say: “It’s a little scary sharing like this as I’m not used to doing so. I’m more the happy and funny dude who you love at parties, the guy you probably would talk to about this. But I have been terrible at sharing my own stuff and even writing this makes me nervous.

It was time though, time for me to speak loudly about my problems and that I did manage them, with help from my family, my friends and last but not least, you guys. I guess what I’m saying is that I’m back, that I’m Ørjan again! And hopefully, I can stay Ørjan for a long long time.”

Awakenings and Reinier Zonneveld head to Ziggo Dome for 13,000-capacity ADE show

Dutch techno giants Awakenings and Reinier Zonneveld join forces to create the biggest indoor techno dance floor during Amsterdam Dance Event at the legendary 13,000-capacity Ziggo Dome. Taking place on Friday 15 October, this will be an all-night solo live show from Zonneveld.

The party forms part of Awakenings‘ legendary annual programming for Amsterdam Dance Event, which sees the local promoter host a series of massive techno events at iconic venues that are among the biggest shows of ADE week.

It’s not only Awakening‘s largest indoor event ever produced, but also the first techno event at the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam’s biggest concert hall which has hosted many world-famous live acts over the years. The event is set to be the largest indoor techno event in global history with a single artist and room.

Zonneveld‘s shows have become one of the hottest selling tickets in techno, and it’s no surprise given how impressive his live shows are, combining crowd favourites with improvisation and stamina-testing all-night/day set lengths.

When Awakenings approached me to host a show at the Ziggo Dome during ADE, where the biggest artists in the world have performed, I couldn’t believe it at first. To do such an event during ADE with Awakenings is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait to crush the Ziggo Dome for an entire night with 13,000 partygoers“, says Reinier Zonneveld.

After more than a year of no Awakenings events, we are excited to be back with a new ADE event which will be our biggest indoor production ever. The fact that we can do this together with Reinier Zonneveld, a great home-grown techno artist, is great. In order to get the real Awakenings feeling in the Ziggo Dome, as fans are used to, we will renovate the entire Ziggo Dome. We will move the entrances and put up the widest and highest stage that has ever been“, says Tim Middelesch, Marketing Manager of Awakenings.

Maxi Meraki unveils his first release ‘Way Too Long’ on artwrk

Funky feels from Antwerp’s multi-talented DJ and producer, Maxi Meraki with his first release titled ‘Way Too Long’ on Dutch House label artwrk. Targeting the Balearic hot spots he’s become accustomed to with deep, focused house composing suave vocals and pianos striding about the place with a splash of salsa to them.

While there’s plenty of groove as standard from the Roger Sanchez/Mark Knight-supported spinner – springy bass, a warm blast of synths on a breakdown of calming motivation – Meraki builds an aura and gives the track time and space to explore itself, as per the knowledge-of-self lyrics.

In the first week of release the track has been picked up by Pete Tong (BBC Radio One), 3FM (Dutch Radio) and got early DJ support from Jamie Jones, Jansons, Paco Osuna , Claude Vonstroke, Philipp Straub, CASSIMM, Piem, Alaia & Galla, Horatio, Juanito, Tim Baresko, ATFC, Michel de Hey, Ruben Mandolini, David Penn, 1979, Freiboitar, Vanilla Ace, Eelke Kleijn, Sin Morera, Roberto Surace, Lena Estetica, Anastasia Kristensen, D-Formation and David Vendetta.

Maxi Meraki Way Too Long

Antwerp resident Maxi Meraki grew up with music and started to play records at high end clubs in Belgium and Amsterdam. A first memorable highlight was noted during the summer of 2018 with a 4 hour set at the Pacha Destino in Ibiza.

Forward to the middle of 2019, the summer season residencies at the W hotel in Barcelona and Izakaya Ibiza set the tone for a bright summer. A sunny season filled with extra gigs: Soho House (Barcelona), Bagatelle (Ibiza), Plage Casanis (Marbella) and the absolute highlight playing on Ibiza’s most popular boat party “Pirata’s Ibiza”, warming up for Circoloco’s DC10 resident DJ Nathan Barato.
