Adventure Club & Yuna reunite for the first time in 7 years for ‘Rebellious’

Adventure Club

Adventure Club has returned with ‘Rebellious’, an indie leaning dance track that harkens back to the duo’s earlier years. Vocalist and longtime collaborator Yuna (‘Gold’, ‘Lullabies’) makes her glorious reappearance, lending her sonic magic to the approximately four-minute release.

Marking the group’s first original production of the new decade, their latest directly follows ‘The Death or Glory Sessions‘ EP, their fifth and final release of 2019 from last October. Out now on Ultra Music, ‘Rebellious‘ is available to listen on all streaming platforms.

Brooding basslines, distinctly sharp synths, and soaring soundscapes juxtapose the flowingly melodious vocals courtesy of Yuna. The grandiose, epic scope offers listeners a surprisingly familiar throwback to the heart-fluttering vibes that permeate throughout the duration of some of Adventure Club‘s classics, like their 2010 remix of Flight Facilities‘ ‘Crave You‘ or 2013’s ‘Wonder‘.

The silky texture of her sonorous voice carries through the entirety of the release, supplying just the right amount of auditory beauty and palpably raw emotion to this behemoth of a track.

There’s no better feeling than when a song just clicks. When everything just makes sense and you’re happy about every aspect of it. It’s rare that we’re satisfied with a finished product, but Rebellious defies that.

We’re truly happy that we get to put this into the world and can’t wait for old and new fans to hear it. We can’t put into words how much we love working with Yuna. Everything about her voice, delivery and vibe is perfect.’ – Adventure Club

The EDC Las Vegas Virtual Rave-A-Thon also marks the debut of a special initiative to help fans stay positively focused on a future where we can all reunite on the dancefloor. To show gratitude to the dance music community, Insomniac has partnered with charitable organization In Place of War to promote Rave Recovery, a relief fund created specifically for dance music fans impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis.

Looking out for one another and giving back have been cornerstones of rave culture since people first set foot on the dancefloor,” says Rotella.

“With so many people experiencing hardships brought on by COVID-19, those principles are more important than ever. Even though we’re isolated, no one should feel alone. Rave Recovery was created to support fans within our dance music community who need assistance—and hopefully inspire others to reach out, connect, and give back.

A portion of the proceeds will also support In Place of War‘s COVID-19 Emergency Fund, supporting some of the world’s most vulnerable communities in the global south during the pandemic.

Like Insomniac, In Place of War believes that music and the arts can bring peace and understanding to the world’s most harshly impacted communities. MK & Billy Kenny serve up 2 Remixes of Diplo & SIDEPIECE’s ‘On My Mind’

MK
MK

Since releasing their collaborative single in late 2019, Diplo & SIDEPIECE’s ‘On My Mind’ has been on a steady ascent of global charts.

Amassing over 25 million combined streams since its release and so far, the track has received an off-the-wall music video as well as a remix from nu-disco legend Purple Disco Machine. Next up, prolific producers MK and Billy Kenny each lend their hand on reimagining the track in two official remixes.

MK has been a staple of house music since the late 1980s, establishing himself as a legend in the genre. With over 500 titles to his name, many of which have become certified platinum, MK has hundreds of millions of cumulative online streams. Throughout his illustrious career, he has remixed everyone from Inner City to HAIM and is now adding his Detroit-influenced house style to ‘On My Mind‘.

This Ain’t Bristol label head Billy Kenny has also been called upon for remix duties on ‘On My Mind‘. His distinctive tech house sound has been at the cutting edge of club music since he broke out in 2014. Now living in Germany, the English DJ and producer has affirmed himself as an internationally touring DJ with gigs across South America, Canada, South Africa, Australia and Europe. Billy Kenny’s ability to turn fun dance tracks into dark rave weapons is what sets him apart from his peers and now he adds his touch to the Diplo & SIDEPIECE collaboration.

Each official remix is bound to catapult ‘On My Mind‘ to new audiences, securing it as a crucial inclusion for DJ playlists and streaming this summer.

BLANCAh reveals ‘Arias Of Sky’ album on Renaissance Records

There are few, if any, artists currently working in electronic music to match BLANCAh’s talent and versatility. Whether it’s DJing, singing live (often during her own sets) or producing, her creative cup constantly overflows, which is why she has become one of South America’s breakout stars with a CV that includes some of the world’s most renowned platforms.

From releases on Steyoyoke, Movement, and Lost On You; touring the globe or holding residencies at two of the world’s most famous clubs (Brazil’s Warung and D-Edge), BLANCAh is proof-positive cream always rises.

Now, following two acclaimed releases with Renaissance, ‘Cold Lights’ and ‘Walk In Clouds’, BLANCAh presents her second studio album ‘Arias Of Sky’.

BLANCAh Arias Of Sky

Dance isn’t a genre that’s embraced the album format as a rule, but with ‘Arias Of SkyBLANCAh has undoubtedly delivered a body of music that doesn’t so much challenge the status quo as rip-up the rule book.

It’s a showcase that deftly balances melodic electronica with her club roots as she explains, “Arias is a true labour of love that took months to produce. I consciously shifted my sound to create an emotive soundscape that people will hopefully listen and dance to in equal measure.”

Opening with her spoken word on ‘Afago’, the album progresses from downbeat beauty to haunting club anthems, taking in a myriad of influences along the way; if Kate Bush’s ‘A Sky Of Honey’ went to a Brazilian nightclub this would arguably be the resulting love child.

Finally, it’s only fitting such a creative album offer DJs and listeners creative options as to how they want to listen to it, something BLANCAh was keen to provide.

Although I completed the album the job was far from done”, she explains.

I decided to offer it in 3 different formats, the original versions, extended mixes and a continuous mix as if it were a DJ set in its own right. With the latter I even created three exclusive ‘INTERLUDES’ to help with the transitions and flow. It’s a very personal journey that represents my strange and wonderful take on the world. I hope people enjoy it.

Tensnake releases ‘Somebody Else’ feat. Boy Matthews

Following on from his recent announcement and continuing to tease his new body of work, the ‘purveyor of feelgood dance’ Tensnake now releases his next pop and synth-infused single ‘Somebody Else’ on True Romance & Armada Electronic Elements.

It was Tensnake‘s big reveal at the beginning of the year, a new forthcoming album entitled L.A. Now he cements the release with the second single ‘Somebody Else‘, again showcasing his wide-ranging production abilities and further building in the influence he has received from recently living in the city of angels.

It’s a track full of pop synths, sublime vocals and electric baselines. Destined for leading playlists across streaming and radio networks alike, featuring British, songwriter and vocalist Boy Matthews, who provides a fresh dimension and emotion to the track.

Tensnake Somebody Else

Tensnake says about the track: “”Somebody Else” is probably my favourite song on the album. When Boy Matthews and I met in Los Angeles we instantly got along and the songwriting came very naturally together. I’d say it is also the song which reminds me the most of my time in Los Angeles; this city has such a nostalgic feel and I tried to capture that vibe in this song. There is a fair bit of retro style to the instrumental, but in combination with the modern vocals it sounds very fresh to me.”

Already with a strong reputation as an accomplished artist who treads the fine line, retaining underground kudos whilst simultaneously releasing crossover hits, Tensnake has cemented his status as a respected music producer with a proven track record.

His first single of 2020 ‘Automatic‘ a rework of the original Pointer Sister‘s 1983 classic has already attracted critical acclaim, as well as generating impressive and ever-growing streaming numbers across all platforms. With the new album tracks highlighting a shift from the dance music world to a newfound sound influenced by the L.A scene.

No stranger to successful collaborations, Tensnake has worked with the upper echelons of music including Nile Rogers, three-time Grammy award winner Stuart Price, Jamie Lidell, MNEK and Fiora to name but a few.

Set to follow in the same successful fashion as his previous first album Glow, Tensnake once again incorporates bags of pop appeal with a hint of his signature dance, disco and boogie style.

Themba

Esteemed South African house DJ and producer, Themba has remixed the latest House Gospel Choir single ‘Blind Faith’.

An emotive rework with a deep, tribal feel to it, the Themba remix of ‘Blind Faith‘ pairs stirring synth stabs with the anthemic choir vocals that make the original so special. Produced by platinum-selling producer Toddla T, the track has received strong support from BBC Radio 1 tastemakers such as Annie Mac and MistaJam, who described it as an “absolute belter”.

To mark the remixes release, Themba went live on his Instagram account on release day (Friday 8th May) with founder and creative director of House Gospel Choir Natalie Maddix to discuss ‘Blind Faith‘, it’s creation and much more on Friday afternoon BST.
