Audio Obscura presents unique sunset livestream sessions to raise funds for WHO

Audio Obscura

With everyone having to stay home for the sake of the health of humanity, Audio Obscura decided to step in to raise money for the World Health Organisation and its partners.

They are partnering with A’DAM Toren who made sure the beautiful The Loft could be the scene for the special Livestream series called “Audio Obscura Sunset – Charity”. By doing this they also give back to the visitors around the world who are faced with canceled shows everywhere. The best part: while enjoying the breathtaking Livestream, they can actually contribute to the response to the pandemic that is caused by COVID-19.

With stunning panoramic views of Amsterdam during golden hour in the background, the viewers can donate to The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which is set up by The United Nations Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation to support WHO and its partners who are helping countries to prevent, detect, and manage the most recent coronavirus.

Every day a renowned Netherlands based artist will perform from 5:15 PM till 7:15 PM CET to support this good cause.

Audio Obscura Sunset Charity Livestream

On this atypical Saturday, the first stream will kick off with the phenomenal Colin Benders who will showcase a hypnotizing live set using his modular synthesizers. The Sunday will be taken over by none other than Joris Voorn, a longtime friend of Audio Obscura and that’s not without reason.

On Monday, live act Satori will give us one of his infamous energetic performances. To make the occasion even more special, he will premiere his brand new album. To close this remarkable series off in style on Tuesday, techno giant Reinier Zonneveld will treat the audience to something very special, nothing like he has done before. No hard bass this time around, but an enchanting live performance from this multi-talent combining synthesizers, drum computers and a piano. It will be experimental for sure but as always only music he composed himself. We are in for a treat.

With the sets being streamed by NOMOBO and reminiscing the legendary sunset sessions Audio Obscura has thrown in the past, where artists performed covered in a golden hue of sunlight, this live stream series is set to be nothing short of spectacular. So be sure to tune in and support the World Health Organization in these crazy times. Together we can do this.

Please get on board and share the Livestream to ensure as many people as possible can watch and donate to WHO.

EXIT Festival 2020 will go as planned in July

Tale Of Us b2b Solomun at EXIT 2019

In light of the current Coronavirus situation around the world, we hope you and your close ones are safe and are following the health guidelines in your own communities. As many experts expect that the situation will significantly improve before the summer, the organizers behind Serbia’s music festival are looking forward to gathering safely together in July and celebrate the 20th birthday of the EXIT festival.

They’d like to reassure their fans that they are working hard on festival preparation and that EXIT Festival 2020 will take place as planned from 9 to 12 July at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia. After a short delay, they will continue updating you with the rest of the lineup for what will be their biggest edition yet.

They have gone through many challenges. That is how EXIT festival was born 20 years ago after a decade of isolation and wars.

EXIT Festival 2020

Coming from a background of social activism and charity, EXIT festival will do its best to help people most affected by the current situation the same way it did when Serbia was hit by floods back in 2014.

Their priority in the following days will be helping people in need. EXIT Festival is inviting volunteers from all over Serbia to support vulnerable groups, especially elders who are locked in and need basic groceries.

EXIT has also invited all important institutions, organizations, and individuals to participate, through websites and available social networks, in informing the public of all key information to help vulnerable groups.

While we all wait for the current situation to pass, they invite everybody to stay safe and at home, and join them every day at 20:20 for some of the greatest shows in EXIT history as well as some exclusive live shows.

Red Axes announce their forthcoming self-titled album

Red Axes

Red Axes announce their forthcoming self-titled album via Dark Entries Records, to be released on May 8th. The first single and music video for ‘Sticks & Stones’, featuring Adi Bronicki is out now.

2020 marks the tenth year of collaboration for Red Axes, the Tel Aviv-based duo of Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi best described as “punk-electronica”. With their background in rock music and enthusiasm for contemporary club sounds, they are one of the underground’s most intriguing and versatile acts. The forthcoming album is a melting pot of post-punk, new wave, and heady dancefloor vibes.

Industry support for Red Axes continues to flourish with extensive tours and headlining slots at major festivals. They’ve graced Sónar Festival with a live performance and mesmerized the Ibizan crowd at the iconic DC-10. As hungry experimenters, they are never short of creative outlets; from releasing records tuned for deep house-hungry dancefloors on labels such as Crosstown Rebels and Permanent Vacation, to setting up a 12-piece live band to explore their passion for new wave.

Red Axes

The breakout pair have left an impressive discography to date, with two LP’s and over two dozen 12″s to their credit. To celebrate their anniversary, they reunite with Dark Entries for an eponymous 11-track LP brimming with jagged guitars, spacy arpeggios, and hypnotic vocals.

Although Sadovnik and Arzi have previously released LP’s on I’m A Cliche and their own Garzen Records, the self-titled Red Axes is their first body of work written and conceived specifically as an album-length listening experience. This workflow through a variety of stylistic detours, highlighting their ears as both keen listeners and skilled DJs.

Opener ‘They Game‘ is a grooving production that unifies the psychedelia of cosmic disco with an early 90’s retro sound. The energy mounts further with ‘Shelera‘, a guitar-driven acidic offering, and ‘Sticks & Stones‘, a certifiable club hit fueled by sassy vocals courtesy of Adi Bronicki.

Launching Side B is ‘Break the Limit‘, an EBM-laced number that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Razormaid compilation. The following tracks wax moodier, with ‘Brotherhood (Of the Misunderstanding)‘ touching on darkwave territory. ‘Udibaby‘ and ‘Arpman‘ close out the album with their respectively dense and sparse takes on Kosmische Lysergia.

Defected announces Virtual Music Festival in wake of COVID-19 ourbreak

DEFECTED IBIZA FESTIVAL
Defected Ibiza Festival 2020

Defected Records has announced a series of digital activations offering its online community – the house music world’s largest at 5m+ – opportunities to engage with the brand and each other from the comfort of their own homes, following the postponement or cancellation of all live events in March and April due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Kicking off the series on Friday 20th will be the inaugural Defected Virtual Festival, inspired by the success of live streams from Defected Croatia, Defected London FSTVL and other Defected shows worldwide.

Defected have programmed 12 hours of house music to be streamed from clubbing institution Ministry of Sound in London, with DJs Simon Dunmore, Monki, Sam Divine, Low Steppa, The Shapeshifters, Melvo Baptiste, Joey Negro, Dan Shake and Darius Syrossian playing live sets and the incredible Glitterbox crew of dancers providing the dancefloor energy.

Broadcasting around the world from the otherwise closed nightclub, the concept for Defected Virtual Festival came from a wish to bring together house music lovers under Defected‘s mantra In Our House We Are All Equal; while unable to travel or tour, Defected’s team led by owner Simon Dunmore knew they needed to think outside the box.

Defected Virtual Festival

“Music and clubbing are an escape for many and, with social gatherings being rightfully restricted, we wanted to connect people online in the hope that they appreciate they are not alone.

The reaction to the Defected Virtual Festival has been incredible and we have been inundated with DJs and performers wanting to get involved. Our thoughts will remain with everyone affected by the current situation, but believe we have a role to remain positive, and bring people together however we’re able.” said Simon Dunmore

Further upcoming digital activities will include a special extended version of the Defected Radio Show, a weekly show presented by Sam Divine which is syndicated to 170+ stations globally and available as a podcast with a reach of 20m+. Sam will be recording the special live with Simon Dunmore at his home studio, discussing the implications of the current situation for artists, DJs, and fans, as well as playing the freshest upfront house music.

Defected Virtual Festival and the radio show special will form part of an ongoing original content series from Defected that will grow weekly during the outbreak and subsequent lockdowns. Meanwhile, Defected‘s channels are going behind the scenes to highlight how staff members are working to leverage the current hiatus from events. Every attention has now been focussed on supporting DJs and artists, promoting the incredible music being released now, and encouraging producers to spend time in the studio to innovate and create music for the future.

New playlists and social media activations include a new ‘Defected Staff Picks‘ playlist launched on Spotify, created in solidarity with other house music lovers currently working from home.

On the ongoing communications strategy, Defected CBO James Kirkham said:

“Times are changing quickly, so our strategy is about being positive, harnessing the strength of many and leveraging the value of our incredible community. We want to ensure our brand is here to help, to give people what they want.

We believe that In Our House We’re All Equal so we’re bringing people together through simple, all-access technology, using the power of social. We can still bring people together – we just need to think a little differently.”

Your guide to all the festivals and events canceled or postponed because of COVID-19

Armin van Buuren
via Bart Heemskerk

Here’s a list of “music festival casualties” caused by a coronavirus. With coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc across the world, music festivals are announcing cancelations or moving dates on a daily basis.

This puts an economic strain on not only the performing artists, event organizers, and entire teams involved, but also on anyone with flights, hotels, and festival tickets already booked and paid for months in advance, now struggling to get info in time to get their bookings refunded.

To help everyone stay on top of things, Slovenia-based music data company Viberate put together a comprehensive and daily updated list at link. The service monitors around 5,000 festivals worldwide and will let you know which ones are canceled or postponed, so you can plan accordingly. You can also let people know how you feel about it, by clicking the sad emoji as many times as you like.

The idea popped up when one of the startup’s founders, a renowned techno DJ UMEK started getting an avalanche of show cancelations: “Just a week ago I played on the Resistance stage at Ultra in Melbourne and Sydney like nothing happened. When I landed back home and turned my phone back on, most of the upcoming gigs had already disappeared from my calendar. That was when I realized how serious this outbreak became in a matter of days. It feels eerily dystopian.”

For now, you can only see what got canceled or postponed, but the authors say that later they might even let you know about the replacement dates for postponed festivals.

NERVO are hosting this week’s Tomorrowland Friendship Mix on One World Radio

One World Radio

From songwriters to artists and superstars, electronic dance music’s first sisters – Mim and Liv Nervo of NERVO – have staged a miraculous climb onto the international stage.

The Australian twin sisters are the all-time top-ranking female DJs in the world – everywhere they go, their endless energy, fearless personal style, and deep love and understanding for the music precedes them.

The flamboyant DJ twins are hosting this week’s Tomorrowland Friendship Mix on One World Radio – a uniquely curated one-hour guest mix – serving the listeners a NERVO-only playlist for the very first time.

“Believe it or not, this is the first time we have done a one-hour – from start to finish – NERVO-only playlist. Twenty-six records of only NERVO and we had so much fun doing it.”, according to Mim and Liv.

NERVO Tomorrowland Friendship Mix

People listening to One World Radio can expect an energetic and explosive mix packed with the hottest NERVO records, including a couple of brand new and exclusive releases.

Mim reveals: “‘Put Your Love On Me’ is an unreleased record of our own. Liv and I are great at toplines and producing melodies but doing a dance drop is something we’ve always had a little bit of trouble with – that’s just not our forte in music production. We sent this to our friend 7 Skies – he’s a great Italian DJ and does a lot of collabs and productions with Tiësto. It’s our vocal and we have heavily treated it with a lot of fun effects.”

Just a couple of weeks ago, the Australian twin sisters also dropped their highly anticipated collab ‘My World‘ with Vini Vici and Shapov: “We have been enormous fans of those boys for a long time. They were last-minute looking for a vocal, we sent them our idea and they loved it. The Vini Vici boys really introduced us to a lot of records that they drew inspiration from, so then we drew inspiration from those records for the topline.”

The sisters also take a moment to reminisce about the musical genius of Avicii: “Our second ever release as NERVO was ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’ – we wrote this with the lovely Tim Bergling. Liv and I were living in Stockholm at that time and we had just won our Grammy for David Guetta for ‘When Love Takes Over’. Tim actually reached out to us, saying he loved what we were doing. We got into the studio and ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’ was the second record that was born from those sessions. It’s one of our favorites, very emotional.”

The Tomorrowland Friendship Mix by NERVO will debut exclusively on One World Radio on Thursday, March 19 at 20:00 CET and will be available on multiple platforms afterward: online, on the One World Radio app, YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts and Deezer.

Lewis Monbarn delivers long awaited debut album ‘Omen’!

Lewis Monbarn

Multi-talented artist Lewis Monbarn finally delivers his long anticipated debut album titled “Omen” just for your listening pleasure.

Popularly known as Lodewyck, legendary producer Lewis Monbarn takes flight with his debut album Omen. Monbarn’s affinity for music has been a lifelong affair. He began creating electronic music when he was just 12 years old and has grown to be a moving force in the house music scene, getting the support of many international DJs and having most of his releases on top of the charts. It is with this same creativity that we find his debut album Omen to be an exceptional item.

Monbarn is able to build an exemplary musical landscape that encompasses elements of industrial, electro, jungle, and psychedelia into the framework of house music. Monbarn’s production on Omen takes a cinematic route that keeps his audience intrigued with each and every transition.

Lewis Monbarn Omen

Omen’s exotic and tribal grooves amid post-modern measures of keyboard and synth create an aspiring view of the world through music. Monbarn infuses chants and other “sacred” voice sounds throughout Omen for increased continuity. Omen by Lewis Monbarn is a sonic canvas of one producer’s life story that captures our own.

Here’s what Lewis had to say about his debut album:

“This Album represents my journey. This is what I have to offer. This is what I want to share. All the frequencies are there, now I invite you to channel it.”
