The first edition of ADE LIVE proved that electronic live acts an exciting and growing part of the dance music scene. Adventurous fans and professionals saw talented artists like RÜFUS, HVOB, SUUNS and Jesssy Lanzy burn the house down. They built the foundation for a prominent place within the biggest club-festival of the world. We pick up where we left off, with even more ambition: more venues, more artists and more to discover.

Sharam Jey & Dakar Release “Your House Is My House” EP [Listen Here]

Sharam Jey
via Sharam Jey

Sharam Jey continues his collaboration with producer Dakar to drop their new EP Your House Is My House, out now via Bunny Tiger Dubs. The release sees the duo throwdown three solid tech-house tracks sure to get the dance-floor thumping.

The first track off the EP titled, “Para,” sets the mood off perfectly with a larger emphasis on high end frequencies while gradually introducing the low end frequencies that subsequently dominate the track, by way of heavy drum rhythms, synth tones that gloam around the entire mix perfectly, and a spellbinding vocal sample.

The title track “Your House Is My House,” lays down an entrancing and soulful vocal line that hypnotizes the mix over a minimal thumping bassline that grows large with euphoric urgency as each second passes leading to a final segment that’s filled with swing.

The third and final track on the release, “Whatcha Wanna Do,” starts off with a heavy low end bass and drum section that immediately gets the head nodding, layered over delayed vocals; all building to a tech house manifesto that pays homage to the classics that have come before it.

When it comes to dance music most people tend to automatically switch off and think of repetitive, unenlightened, brain-poaching drivel. However there are still a few DJs/producers out there who continue to burn the light bright and keep striving to push sound forward, onward and upward and find a way to take it and relate it to the masses’ and taking it to the masses is one thing Sharam Jey does best.

He started in the early 90s putting out two studio albums, various mix-compilations and more than 100 releases on some of the most established labels like his very own King Kong Records plus Nervous Records, Off Records and many more.

Plus he is always busy working on remixes for other great names like Moby, Gossip, Faith No More, Faithless, Diplo & Don Diablo, Mason & Roisin Murphy to name just a few.

Sharam Jey’s philosophy is to supply 100% DJ tools, from DJ’s for DJs, with the help from some of his best buddies like Kolombo, Phonique, Tapesh, LouLou Players, Teenage Mutants and more to come.

Last month, the American DJ and producer, Diplo released his latest hit, ‘Bank roll’, a single featuring Justin Bieber, Young Thug, and Rich the Kid but surprisingly he removed the track from his SoundCloud page just days after its release.

And now, Diplo’s ‘Bank Roll‘ resurfaced on Soundcloud but with Justin Bieber notably missing from the track. In the description of the track, the producer explains: “DJ Khaled and Guetta made me take down the Justin Bieber version because they had exclusives with him, you can find it online here tho cause i don’t give a fu*k.”

He has since removed Khaled & David Guetta‘s name and changed it to “various artists”, but we still have the screenshot of it.

Diplo still included a download link to the original, which you can get here.

Turns out, GRiZ is Gay and wants you all to know about it !

griz is gay

Today, Metro Detroit’s own DJ and Producer Grant Kwiecinski better known by his stage name GRiZ, issued a statement via Huffington Post coming out to the world as gay.

Though the statement was inspiring and triumphant, GRiZ highlights the emotional and mental struggles he went through in his youth coming to terms with his sexuality.

“I was in middle school when I first noticed something was up. For most guys, thoughts about girls went from “gross” to “I wonder what boobs feel like,” from “ew, koodies” to “let’s mack on some cuties.

But for me, I just wasn’t interested. I told myself I wasn’t ready, or that the right one hadn’t come along yet. So I waited. Years. And without warning, high school came in full force. Sex, drugs, alcohol, skipping classes, procrastination, attempting to fit in, driving (and crashing) cars, finding new music I related to, changing friend groups. You name it, I did it. AP physics in the morning, beer pong champion after midnight.

Everything seemed to balance except for one big thing. I was definitely…definitely gay, and I didn’t want to accept it or want anyone to know.”

The DJ also talks about the lack of role models when he was growing up and how that played into him hiding his sexual orientation during his adolescent, noting,

“There was so much pressure to fit in, I tried to force myself to be like everyone else. The last thing any teen wants is to be ‘uncool.’ Hell, the typical lingo for things that were lame was ‘gay’ and someone who wasn’t cool ‘fag’ or ‘faggot.’ Every day those words are so casually tossed into conversation as if it were true. And, I started to believe they were. There were no openly gay role models in culture for me to look up to at the time to dispel that myth.”

GRiZ’s coming out statement is ultimately crafted as a positive message to others, particularly to younger kids who may struggle themselves with the same problems he faced.

“If at this point you are telling yourself this sounds even mildly familiar, and you have so perfectly and with great pain kept your secret to yourself, I have one thing to tell you. It gets better.”

A singaporean Techno DJ has been sentenced to eleven years in prison for trying to smuggling cocaine into Bali through the postal service.

He will also have to pay a fine of Rp 1 billion or spend four more months in prison, over the 122 grams of cocaine he was caught picking up from a Denpasar post office in 2016.

In his trial, it was revealed that Muhammad Faliq bin Nordin, better known by his stage name FAL:X, took two parcels from the Netherlands on September 10, 2016 from a post office in Renon, Denpasar. The recipient had actually been marked as Kobu Raum Dekodex, with an address in Sanur. Both packages had different senders, but both from the Netherlands.

Prosecutors say the Singaporean DJ deserves a heavy punishment because his actions were contrary to intensified efforts by the government to eradicate drug abuse in Bali.

The Singaporean had apparently been working as a DJ in Bali several months prior to his arrest. Spinning under the name FAL:X, the DJ is attached to renowned techno labels such as Italo Business and Cobb Recordings.
