The young New Yorker begins the year in a similar vein to how he ended 2022; working tirelessly to push his sound forward, while delivering captivating studio results in the process. Case in point, ‘Rabbit Hole’ his collaboration with HI-LO, that not only topped charts to end the year as one of 2022’s standout techno tracks, but also marked a definitive step in the development of his sound signature.
His latest offering ‘Life Moves Fast‘ continues in this adventurous vein. First tested at Warehouse Project and at the Gashouder for Awakenings late last year, the title track is characterised by a distinctive lead, which is both playful and pensive and arouses a dramatic energy, before a series of magnetic drops lobs it into peak-time dancefloor territory.
‘Heart is King‘ is an elegant, rhythmic slice of techno that balances euphoria and tension on a knife’s edge, while showcasing Giordani‘s classy sound design.
“The idea for ‘Life Moves Fast’ happened after stumbling upon the vocal. I wanted to create an intense feel that described the curiousness of how quick life happens. Almost like a theme.
After testing it at Gashouder and the Warehouse Project, the reactions were so good, I knew we had a special result! The main focus with ‘Heart is King’ was creating a dancefloor orientated track with elaborate sounds that would constantly trigger your ears, while grooving from start to finish.” – Layton Giordani
Guatemalan-American star GORDO has teamed up with Ukrainian superstar Marina Maximilian for a huge tribal house track titled ‘R U 4 REAL’ This record follows last year’s groundbreaking releases with the likes of FEID, The Martinez Brothers, KAS:ST, and the massive success of his 6 co-productions on Drake’s ‘Honestly Nevermind’ album. The sound introduced by GORDO on R U 4REAL promises he’s got lots in store for 2023.
“I didn’t make this record for radio, nor for shows or for Spotify. I made this record for nothing other than my own integrity. I hope you guys are ready for the best piece of art I have ever made.” – GORDO
Recently voted the highest ranked Hispanic DJ in the world by DJMag and #1 producer by Billboard, GORDO topped off a stellar 2022 featuring chart topping singles and multiple sold out shows across the globe with the release of ‘Hombres y Mujeres alongside Colombian superstar FEID. R U 4REAL proves he’s not planning on slowing down this year as he continues to show his commitment to house music and is planning to ramp releases in 2023.
The release has been highly-anticipated by fans and artists alike, including Drake who posted on Instagram: “GORDO finally dropped my anthem”.
His live performances and extended sets currently sit amongst the hottest dance music experiences, whether it’s him performing at his own very TARAKA events as they continue to pop up around the world or attempting to promote ‘marathon sets’ as Gordo continues to DJ for hours on end.
AlphaTheta Corporation announces the release of the Pioneer DJ DJM-A9 mixer. The DJM-A9 raises the bar for club standard, professional mixers with stunningly clear sound quality, enhanced playability and connectivity, and a host of new features to take performances to the next level.
Offering multiple advancements over its predecessor, the Pioneer DJ DJM-900NXS2, the new DJM-A9 mixer produces a higher level of natural-sounding audio. By including an ESS Technology 32-bit high-quality analog-to-digital (A/D) and digital-to-analog (D/A) converters into the channel input section and the master and booth output sections, the DJM-A9 disperses clear sound to the booth and dance floor.
The DJM-A9’s new layout design makes it more instinctive and comfortable to play. Spacing was added around the EQ knobs. The channel faders and the MAGVEL FADER crossfader are slicker than those on the DJM-900NXS2, to enable performers to mix and scratch more efficiently. And the Sound Color FX include the world’s first Center Lock feature, to ensure artists don’t accidentally cross over between the hi/low parameters.
Pioneer DJM-A9 mixer
Beat FX are more instinctive to use on the DJM-A9 thanks to the new color display and revamped X-Pad, which is now arranged horizontally for simple, sideways finger sliding. The Beat FX channel selector is now a dedicated button, enabling quicker effect routing, and the Multi I/O section has been upgraded to offer true send capabilities. In total, there are 14 Beat FX to play with, including 3 new ones.
Through fine-tuning and improved construction with carefully selected components, the microphone section of the DJM-A9 brings new possibilities when streaming or MCing. Artists can connect a condenser mic directly to the DJM-A9 for the best possible vocal sound quality thanks to the phantom power supply to the mic input, which is an industry-first feature on a DJ mixer. To dynamically change the sound of the artists voice, there are 3 different mic effects plus a dedicated reverb to play with.
Changing DJs or playing back-to-back is a breeze on the DJM-A9 thanks to the dual sets of USB Type-B and Type-C ports, which enable artists to connect two PCs/Macs running either Rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro. And the mixer’s expanded connectivity opens up new possibilities for artists performances. If an artist wants to play tracks from a mobile device, Bluetooth®/MD input makes it easy on the DJM-A9. The audio can be routed to any channel, and an artist can use all the mixer’s effects to change the sound.
Pioneer DJM-A9 mixer
The DJM-A9 is compatible with the upcoming version of Rekordbox, which will be available in March 2023. To use the mixer with Serato DJ Pro, artists will need to buy a license or subscription for the software and download the latest version here. The mixer supports DVS control via either application.
The DMJ-A9 also delivers industry-first features, including a Center Lock feature when using Sound Color FX, which prevents accidental crossing between the high/low parameters, no matter the knob turn speed.
With Wi-Fi connectivity built into the DJM-A9, front-of-house teams can monitor the mixer through the new Stagehand iPad app (coming soon). By remotely monitoring various information from the mixer, and even control selected functions, engineers can adjust sound system settings and troubleshoot without entering the booth or disturbing the DJ.
KEY FEATURES
Clear Sound Quality
The next generation DJM-A9 mixer is equipped with an ESS Technology 32-bit high-quality A/D converter while the master and booth output sections employ 32-bit high-quality D/A converters.
Evolved playability
With higher-quality, and slicker channel faders than the DJM-900NXS2, plus the third-generation MAGVEL FADER crossfader, artists can produce silky-smooth mixing and rapid, stable scratching. The DJM-A9 also adds increased spacing around the EQ knobs and bright LEDs in the channel section for an easier visual grasp on sound levels.
Sound Color FX
With the industry-first Center Lock feature for Sound Color FX, each knob will stop turning once the knob has reached the center position.
Advanced Beat FX
A new color display helps artists to quickly and accurately understand the status of the selected effect, and it features lighting that corresponds with the X-Pad’s horizontal arrangement, enabling more intuitive control with a simple finger slide. Artists can use the X-Pad to change the Echo and Ping Pong effects to create a unique analog tape-style sound.
And, within the 14 total Beat FX, there are 3 new ones you can use to add extra variation to your performances:
Mobius: Changes the frequency of the oscillator to constantly rise or fall in time with the beat.
Triplet Filter: Changes the cut-off frequency cyclically for the filter according to the beat (based on 3 beats).
Triplet Roll: Outputs the recorded sound repeatedly according to the specified beat fraction (based on 3 beats).
Enhanced Microphone
The DJM-A9’s microphone section provides more control and adds extra creativity for DJs. The phantom-powered input, a feature never seen before on a DJ mixer means artists can connect a high-quality condenser mic directly to the DJM-A9. There are also 3 new microphone effects, with a dedicated reverb effect:
Echo: Outputs a delayed sound several times while attenuating it to add an echo effect.
Pitch: Changes the pitch of the microphone sound.
Megaphone: Changes the microphone sound so it sounds like you’re talking through a megaphone.
Expanded Connectivity
Connect two different PC/Mac computers at the same time using dual USB Type-B and USB Type-C ports for seamless transitions between DJs and easy back-to-sets. Additionally, the Bluetooth input routes to any channel on the DJM-A9 to wirelessly drop audio tracks into sets from other devices and use all the mixers features and effects. The Multi I/O section has an independent channel selector to allow the use of external effects separately from Beat FX, giving the DJM-A9 true send capabilities.
Dual Independent Headphone Outputs and Booth EQ
Two DJs can plug in headphones simultaneously with separate cue buttons, volume knobs, and mix balance knobs for each set of headphones, making it easier to cue tracks during changeovers. There is also a 2-band booth EQ,

Continuing his exploration into the world of sound design, one of dance music’s most respected contemporary producers, Enrico Sangiuliano, announces the next conceptual study in NINETOZERO’s transient reality.
The forthcoming opus welcomes the irrefutable talents of Charlotte de Witte, marking the pair’s second collaboration to date and the third release in the label’s countdown. The 3-track “Reflection” EP is available to pre-order now and will be live across all streaming platforms on March 17th.
A luminary of musical storytelling, Enrico‘s NINETOZERO saga has seen the Emilia native explore the affinity between sound, time and space, all while presenting an alternative perspective on his palette as a producer. Now illustrating their understanding of ‘Reflection‘ within noise and composition, Enrico and Charlotte analyze the rebounding of sound waves between different mediums.

A euphonious translation of the notion of ‘Reflection‘, the refined techno cut has enjoyed heavy circulation across the underground scape and will no doubt follow in the footsteps of the pair’s ‘The Age Of Love‘ remix – which subsequently rounded out the year as 2021’s Best Techno track.

Announcing as the second standalone EP ahead of Len Faki’s highly anticipated debut album Fusion (due out later this year), ‘Fusion 02/03’ will be released on 17th March and the first single ‘Gamma’ drops now. The EP provides a new outlook on the producer’s sounds, going far beyond the confines of techno that he previously has been known and lauded for.
Opening the record in bold yet sensible style, ‘Gamma’ subtly transcends the dancefloor functionality by anchoring its driving momentum in a wistful and enigmatic melody; a regular of Berghain, Faki also occasionally plays the upstairs room – where the bumping house of his own ‘It’s Time (to Move Your Body)’ could well go down as the highlight of a long night, whizzing with colourful synths and anthemic vocals.
‘Yantra’ then is a reminder of the powerful, loopy and trippy techno, which Faki (amongst all the newfound sonic explorations) has still not lost his appetite and knack for. A genuine counterpart, ‘Shri Yantra’ then picks up elements of its predecessor, reframed in an enveloping breakbeat journey through time and space.
Going past the constraints of his previous work, Faki’s signature style is still very much audible on this EP, while also showing how there are still endless possibilities to develop. Stay tuned for one more special EP (x35) before the final release of the Fusion double album.
Grammy award winning multi-instrumentalist, producer and singer-songwriter Elderbrook has teamed up with Brazilian DJ icon Vintage Culture for new single ‘Talk It Over’, out February 24th.
‘Talk It Over’ is a poignant, uplifting anthem, pairing Elderbrook’s soulful vocals with a breezy melodic house arrangement. “We can talk it over any time you want”, intones Elderbrook over gliding synths, with Vintage Culture’s signature atmospheric production lending the track extra emotional weight as well as its muscular groove. Following the January release of euphoric gem ‘I’ll Be Around’, Elderbrook’s latest single offers another taste of his upcoming second studio album Little Love, set for release on 31st March.
Live phenomenon, self-taught multi-instrumentalist, producer and singer-songwriter, Elderbrook is known for his collaborations with some of the biggest names in dance music, including Diplo, Camelphat, Black Coffee, Bob Moses, The Martinez Brothers and Carnage.
Meanwhile his acclaimed debut album Why Do We Shake In The Cold? included sleeper hits ‘Numb‘ and ‘Something About You‘, and his most recent EP Innerlight included a collaboration with Bob Moses with the resultant tour seeing him sell out shows all over the world.
Having toured with the likes of Friendly Fires, Rufus Du Sol and Odesza, racking up over 1 billion streams to date, and being announced on the 2023 Coachella line-up, Elderbrook continues to prove himself a frontrunner in the electronic scene.
His latest collaborator Vintage Culture is the perfect foil for Elderbrook’s melodic sensibilities. From the tiny municipality of Mundo Novo, the Brazilian house DJ has risen to international stardom through his songwriting, studio productions and charismatic stage presence.
‘Talk It Over’ finds the two artists in harmony, resulting in a progressive house gem that further whets the appetite for Elderbrook’s upcoming album Little Love.
