fknsyd turns fantasy to reality with her debut mixtape, ‘Taste.test’

Created by the imaginative artist Sydney Fisher, fknsyd is a project that expands far beyond the auditory realm. Using music as a way to channel her internal battles and deep emotions, fknsyd enables her audience to join her in self-healing and finding happiness.

Her one-of-a-kind voice has led this singer to collaborations with SLANDER, REZZ, Hex Cougar, Manilla Killa, and many other revered artists.

Wanting to be recognized as more than just a “feature artist”, fknsyd has ventured into her solo career with her debut mixtape Taste.test. Sharing her viewpoint on the compilation and the process of creating it, fknsyd states, “‘Taste.test’ is a compilation of songs I made over the last year or two.

With my personal music, I do everything myself, and I don’t feel overly confident about most of the skills involved in that process. As much as I’d like to only share things I feel completely satisfied with, I don’t think it needs to be that serious, and I realize whatever that standard is for me will be ever-changing.

It doesn’t make me happy to stockpile a bunch of music. I admire people who share their art, so to me, this is a step in the direction of feeling more comfortable doing that.”

Containing nine breathtaking tracks, Taste.test provides a sonic voyage of introspection and self-discovery for listeners. Songs like “New Evils“, “Fantasy“, and “Vertigo” embrace mystifying vocals from fknsyd along with her mesmerizing trippy sound design. Taste.test is simply a taste of what fknsyd has in store for the future for her solo journey as an artist.

Mathame Release Infectious New Track ‘To Hope’ via Astralwerks

Italian-brother duo Mathame have released their latest single ‘To Hope’ via Astralwerks. The infectious single exemplifies the captivating Mathame sound that has enthralled electronic music fans across the globe.

What Mathame describes as “their version of a party track,” ‘To Hope‘ builds through winding synths and erupts with pulsating club energy; evoking an uplifting and joyous ambiance. After Mathame created the track in a Tulum hotel room in only two hours, demonstrating Mathame’s technical prowess and musical genius.

With Mathame‘s recent releases ‘Come For You‘ demonstrating the duo’s intimate and emotional side, and ‘So What‘ channeling their dark and voluminous core, ‘To Hope‘ serves as the next step in the roundabout sonic journey Mathame has been creating for fans through their latest string of singles.

Holding onto the track since pre-COVID, Mathame decided to release ‘To Hope‘ after witnessing the single garner massive crowd reactions across the world as it quickly became a favorite to play amongst the DJs on the global club circuit.

After the Mathame project was born on the eerily desolate slopes of Sicily’s Mt. Etna volcano, the brothers’ gained massive global recognition with debut EP releases on Afterlife records, including ‘Nothing Around Us,’ followed by ‘Skywalking‘ and ‘For Every Forever‘ and further enthralled listeners with remix tracks for artists such as Zhu and Moby.

Channeling their love for science fiction works and technology, Mathame went on to create a mix series utilizing artificial intelligence in 2021 and have since programmed a customized AI machine which creates their signature “hyper-expressionism” imagery.

Playing nearly 150 shows a year, Mathame have enchanted crowds at some of the electronic music world’s most coveted stages including Tomorrowland, EXIT Festival, Miami’s Club Space, Amsterdam’s ADE, EDC Las Vegas, and London’s Fabric.

NO STATIC Drops Infectious House Heater ‘Kill Em’ On Space Yacht

Following an extremely successful 2022 of bursting out onto the tech house scene, NO STATIC is back at it again with his new single, “Kill Em”. Released on the prominent West Coast imprint Space Yacht, this track is powered by a spellbinding percussive bassline that oozes electrifying grooves.

Sharing his perspective on the song, NO STATIC says that it, “is a perfect blend of various genres. With the ethnic style flute, paired with the hip-hop style vocal and an absolute banging drop, ‘Kill Em’ is a must-have for any club DJ.”

Capable of burning down any dance floor, “Kill Em” puts NO STATIC‘s expertise in sound design and artistic creativity on display. However, this is far from the first catchy dance anthem that NO STATIC has produced throughout his career. In fact, NO STATIC has dropped 10 singles under his former alias, Andrew Shine, while winning remix contests for Vassy‘s “Oxygen” and Tiësto global sensation, “The Business“. Last summer, his funky rendition of “Dance For Me (Family Affair)” racked up over 3 million streams on Spotify alone.

If one thing is for certain, it’s that NO STATIC is just starting to heat up in 2023. He is sure to follow “Kill Em” with a bunch of infectious upcoming projects, live DJ performances, and an inaugural festival set.

Exclusive Interview with DJ and Producer NO STATIC

How did you decide your direction with the Tech House spectrum? How did you come up with your niche sound within this genre?

It’s not easy because it really is such a huge spectrum. I’ve always been inspired by different types of music so I’m always looking to pull things from different genres and putting them together gives a familiar but unique sound.

How does it feel to have quite a quick rise off of a few tracks, was the success of ‘Dance For Me’ a surprise for you?

It’s so crazy, super exciting, and at the same time comes with a lot of pressure . I could’ve never predicted the success of Dance For Me. It was just one of those “right song, right time” kind of things. The reason it comes with pressure is that you always feel like you have to one-up yourself. I try to ignore that stigma and just focus on making the music I love.

How did you end up getting connected with Space Yacht?

I literally just sent them a demo. They do a live feedback stream/demo listen twice a week on Twitch and I sent it in, I don’t even think they listened to it on the livestream but Rami (London Bridge) hit me up and told me he loved the track. He then tested the track live at the Space Yacht Tech My House anniversary show at Exchange LA and it went absolutely off. Right after that they signed it!

Is it easier for you to finish tracks on your own or do you prefer to do a collaboration?

It really depends, but I’d probably have to say on my own. If I’m really into something I’ll sit and produce until it’s done. This track is a great example of that because Noven (a producer and DJ from Hungary) sent me the live flute recording and I was so inspired by it that I literally sent him back the finished record like 3 hours later lol. So for me to finish tracks it’s critical that the idea really excites me.

How do you get in a creative mindset to make music?

What seems to work best for me is any time I go into a session I like to have some sort of idea. Sometimes I can just open up a blank Ableton project and go from there but that’s way more rare. I spend a lot of time listening to music, going through samples, sounds, and vocals. Anything that catches my ear I’ll throw into an “inspiration bin” on my desktop. This gives my brain some direction which is really helpful for me (and lots of coffee)! Also, for some reason I seem to always be more creative early in the morning!

What would be a dream label or collaboration you’d like to sign to or be a part of?

I think a dream label would be Insomniac, so many of my favorite artists have signed to them and I really feel like they seek out the highest quality of music, plus they’re so much more than just a label. In terms of collab dreams, if we’re shooting for the stars I’ve always dreamed of working with Chris Martin (lead singer of Coldplay). Calvin Harris is also right up there for me, he’s just the G.O.A.T.

What are you hoping the future entails for you?

I have a big list of goals for this year. That list includes playing my first festival, building my following on social media, doing some official remixes for some dope artists, collaborating, and continuing to make tracks that destroy the clubs. Most importantly, I’m hoping to be fortunate enough to keep doing what I love, which is making music and sharing it with the world.

Excision and Sullivan King join forces for their fourth collaboration “Fall Apart”

A collaboration that can only be described as colossally speaker shattering – longtime friends Excision and Sullivan King join forces for their fourth collaboration – “Fall Apart” – the latest piece of the puzzle to Sullivan King’s forthcoming album project. First debuted at Excision and Sullivan King’s legendary B2B set at Lost Lands in 2022 – fans have been begging for the release of the single ever since.

The track opens with an ominous guitar pattern courtesy of Sullivan King’s virtuous instrumental talent, followed by his haunting vocals on heartbreak, before cascading into a bellowing industrial/metal infused drop, sure to satisfy rock and dubstep fans equally.

“Fall Apart” really quickly became one of my favorite tracks for the record, mainly because it has this really raw nu metal/2000’s rock influence to it, which is something I definitely grew up on and loved.” Sullivan King explains.

“It’s a really simple song that doesn’t have a ton of complicated layers, which is something I’ve really appreciated learning from Jeff. I habitually tend to overthink/overdo things on a song and end up having to pull back from the chaos I throw into a project or idea, but Jeff is fantastic when it comes to making sure things are directionally clear and sonically understandable. Incredibly stoked for our 4th collab together, it really feels like the perfect mesh of all our prior tracks!”

Excision adds; “Always have a blast working with Sullivan King! I really dig the vibe of this track with the slow melodic intro and heavy drops. ‘Fall Apart’ went off when we premiered it at our Lost Lands B2B, excited to release it!”

The Blessed Madonna releases new single ‘Shades Of Love’ Ft. The Joy

The Blessed Madonna releases her brand new single ‘Shades of Love’, a joyous new track that sees her collaborate with South African five piece ‘The Joy’.

Like so much of The Blessed Madonna‘s music, its DNA is firmly rooted in the origins of house and club culture, expertly updated alongside a unique range of collaborators to create something truly contemporary.

Last year saw Parisian electro-pop chanteuse Uffie provide vocals on the celebratory ‘Serotonin Moonbeams‘, last week it was Chicago house icon Jamie Principle on the anthemic ‘We Still Believe‘ and on ‘Shades of Love‘ it’s Durban‘s The Joy who lend their tightly wound vocal harmonies and melodies to create yet another energetic and entirely electrifying track.

Speaking about the inception of the track, Stamper writes:

“Shades of Love is about the one thing that we all truly share in common as humans. We need to be loved. That might be a different kind of love for every person but it’s still love and it’s what ties us together”
