Flynninho Brings The Heat With Jaw-Dropping Mid-Tempo Single ‘Ragga

DJ/producer Flynninho is bringing a massive mid-tempo banger to the public consciousness with the release of “Ragga.” The single follows up “Sicario Mode,” which marked yet another break-through for the artist as his following steadily increases with each release.

With “Ragga,” Flynninho wastes no time cultivating a dark and powerful vibe. A few measures in, the completeness of the haunting theme is introduced as a suspenseful spirit becomes unavoidably present. Adrenaline begins pumping through listeners’ veins around the one-minute mark as the tension builds with an intoxicating effect.

The drop shifts things into a head-banging, explosive event, complete with edgy, chopped vocals and colossal basslines. Yet, an order and structure is ever-present through a steady tempo and impactful percussion section. Every ounce of this track is festival-ready. “Ragga” is the perfect fuel to spark peak moments in any shredding set.

From the punchy mix and mastering to the face-melting nature of “Ragga’s” essence, Flynninho does it again with this enriching original.

With releases going back to 2018 visible on his streaming platforms, Flynninho’s experience and perseverance are what have led to his success today. The man knows his direction sonically, has a strong following which continues to grow, and a raw attitude which people around him innately gravitate toward. “Ragga,” is one part of a bigger movement that Flynninho is bringing to the masses.

Solardo team up with Vintage Culture & LOWES for ‘Adidas & Pearls’

Solardo

Solardo’s domination of your summer soundtrack continues with the release of ‘Adidas & Pearls’, a massive new collaboration with Vintage Culture and vocals courtesy of BBC Radio 1 Dance Vocalist of the Year 202, LOWES.

Adidas & Pearls’ is Solardo’s latest smash following recent singles ‘So Far So Good’ and ‘Make Me Feel’ who recently tore up Parklife, with Creamfields and and their Ushuaia Ibiza residency alongside Camelphat coming up amongst their packed summer of gigs. It was co-produced by Vintage Culture, who continues to go from strength to strength with over 16 million streams on his massive James HypeYou Give Me A Feeling’ alone, and a busy summer tour diary ahead.

A powerful track bordering progressive, trance and big room house, it’s led by LOWES’ sublime vocals and songwriting, telling a coming-of-age story that most people can relate to.

The track begins with a brooding bass throb studding rolling techy beats, snatches of dazzling synths swelling into life in preparation for the chorus. An epic breakdown lays on massive stuttered synth riff, graceful strings and tense snare build. Throughout, the powerful vocal is perfectly matched by the rousing production, with plenty of dancefloor prowess at the track’s heart.

“We have played a few b2b sets with Vintage Culture over the past year and are big fans of his style and sound. Creating a track together was a completely natural progression for us and we had a few ideas in the works but this one really jumped out. And as soon as LOWES laid a vocal down on it we knew we had something special”, says Solardo.

Vintage Culture adds “Solardo have become friends and I admire their talent and production skills. When we discussed working together with Lowes. I was intrigued by the idea. Lowes’ lead vocalist, Evie, has an instantly recognizable voice. In “Adidas & Pearls” she delivers lyrics with an emotional impact. Her vocal range and phrasing help make Lowes a force to be reckoned with for years to come.”

LOWES explains the message behind the lyrics: ”It’s about when you first start going out or just moved away from home for uni, and you’re not really sure how much stuff to take… but you just kinda guess what to do because you’re too embarrassed to ask or admit you’ve never done stuff before and it can sometimes lead to bad experiences. It’s about environments where you’re stepping just over the border from being a kid (“someone’s daughter”) to fending for yourself and making your own decisions, and saying—have a little patience with yourself, you don’t have to know/try everything straight away.”

Donatella unveils her debut track ‘What Do I Do Now?’

At only 16 years old, Donatella is debuting her very best without compromise in “What Do I Do Now?” Oozing with vibrant colors, immersive worlds, and meaningful lyrics all at an optimal speed, the visual journey blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Gripping, action-oriented shots collectively playing out at once, but in a format that is digestible and cohesive.

The balanced themes and designs are intuitive and engaging, moment-to-moment eye-catching aesthetics constantly unfolding while an overarching experience holding the attention span of those it hooks.

Alongside the single and video, an NFT collection will be released on Rarible, digitally immortalizing the spirit of “What Do I Do Now?” and the celebration of this debut.

The video is a natural accompaniment to the audio side of the experience, which is its own distinctively crafted adventure. Simultaneously energizing and sedating, the single articulates a balance between the realms of deep house, alt-pop, and electronic. The design articulates both the values of Donatella as an artist – putting quality and integrity above everything else and not giving up until a project is the best it can be – as well as a genre-hybrid element that delivers appeal to a wider audience.

A natural fit for a poolside set, a night at the club, or an upbeat road trip, the positioning and quality of “What Do I Do Now?” acts as a perfectly-fitting springboard to launch Donatella into the limelight.

The idea behind the song was born out of the solitude of the pandemic era, Donatella taking advantage of a unique time in human history, her efforts now having changed the course of her musical life for good and for the better.

Donatella has her business savvy side and is happily surrounded with a passionate team that believes in her. Both Above Music Group and Create Music Group stand behind her, ready to get the music into the right hands.

Donatella fills a void that is needed in the EDM and dance space: more representation from artists of color. Her presence plays an influential role in a larger movement to shake up the diversity of artists in the scene, using her platform to empower others who may have been historically disadvantaged to see that what they may assume isn’t possible can indeed be achieved.

Exclusive Interview with DJ and Producer DJ ABYSS

Our team had the chance to catch up with the extremely talented DJ and producer DJ ABYSS to find out more about his latest single ‘You Make Me Lose Control’. Check out the full interview below!

Hello DJ ABYSS ! How are you?

I am fine. Summer is coming, the days are getting warmer, the festival season is starting.

Can you walk us through the process of working on ‘You Make Me Lose Control’? How did the production start?

The track was roughly created within a few hours. When I go into the studio, I always first consciously check how I’m doing, how I’m feeling. Then I look for the right sounds and melodies that best express this feeling I have right now. That doesn’t always work. After all, it’s a snapshot. But if it works, most of the time a framework comes out of it, from which I can develop a track. I would say that out of 5 times that I bring in an idea in the studio, once something sensible comes out of it.

I also have a very unique way of producing. I stay in the beginning not more than 1-2 hours on a track, try consciously little to “loop”, so that I remain as long as possible objective to the sounds and melodies. Then it’s break time or I dedicate myself to another track. The next day at the earliest I continue working on this track. So it can be that I work on a track 2 weeks, but only 4-5 days each 1-2 hours. Only when I realize that the track can become something and the rough structure is there, then it goes to the arrangement and mixing.

Are there any specific influences or references you used for the track?

No, not at all. I produced the track at a time when I wasn’t listening to this kind of music at all. The track was created in the late fall. Maybe the track also arose a little from the longing for summer, sun, sea, festival?

Did you find any new processes, sounds or elements while working on the track?

Exactly the opposite is the case. I worked on a number of other tracks on the new album, like “One day” or “Lonley here without you” with new sounds and instruments previously unknown to me. But “You Make Me Lose Control” is one of the tracks on the album that I produced classically with familiar sounds. It is probably one of the more conservative tracks on the album. Happy house with classic beats, piano, acoustic bass etc….

How long did it take you to finish this song?

Actually not long at all. The rough structure was done in a few hours. The rough version then lay around for some time. It wasn’t until a few weeks later when the tracks for the album were selected that I listened to “You Make Me Lose Control” again and found it very refreshing. I also found it super exciting to listen to all of the tracks produced in chronological order and realize that you can really relate to the journey I took musically in the 3 months in the studio. Of course, quite a few tracks have been sorted out in the selection for the album. On the one hand because they were a bit too personal, on the other hand because the number of album tracks is limited of course or finally because I just didn’t find some tracks good enough. That was a time of big discussions, because I threw out a number of tracks against the advice of my team. But there was something about “You Make Me Lose Control” that made me sit down for a few days and finish arranging and mixing it.

What was your favorite part of the production process?

Listening to the track again after a few weeks and realizing that I liked it, even though it was actually already sorted out. And also realizing that this is a very rare musical side of me. I like melodic house a lot, but most of my productions are deeper house, deeper techno or brokenbeat tracks. With these styles, I find it easier to translate my feelings relative intuitively in the studio. With party house tracks I actually have a harder time, for whatever reason that is.

The single is also another announcement for your album – what is the idea behind your longplayer, which will be released in September?

I admire conceptual albums with an idea behind them. Personally, I can’t do something like that. For me, music is far too emotional and a matter of momentum to produce an album in its entirety with an idea behind it. But in my work as editor-in-chief and publisher of Ten Dance magazine over 12 years, I’ve often wondered if these stories behind the concept albums I’ve gotten into the Readtion didn’t come about after the fact to give the whole thing a tangible background. Or if you really managed to develop an idea and then produce a whole album completely planned out. But I guess we’ll never find out.

There is no specific idea behind my releases. I go into the studio, implement what I feel and think. And when there’s enough material to present to the public, then a release comes out. But in the more than 30 years I’ve been active in the techno and house scene and met hundreds of other DJs and producers, I’ve also learned that there is no one ultimate way in the studio. Everybody has to find his own way to express himself through his music or to realize his music. As different as the characters are, so is the way to express yourself in the studio. And with me, it’s a very spontaneous intuitive way. If I don’t manage to put a feeling into an idea and roughly translate it into music within a few hours, then I discard the material. That’s why it’s so important to me as an “in-the-box” producer that the technical side of producing has evolved so much. I did learn an instrument in my youth, had singing at music school and also music notation, but only working with a good DAW, for which you don’t necessarily need a musical education, forms the perfect realization of my music for me.

I can remember my first productions together with the Berlin producer Jay Ray for Mark Reeder’s Berlin label MFS. These production processes with the classic sequencers Cubase and Logic, mixing desk, synthesizers and effects units were an endless and extremely pragmatic way of producing for me. The releases at that time were not bad and also quite successful. But I didn’t really feel comfortable with it. That’s why I started building a studio based on a DAW back in the late 90s. When the first version of Propellerhead’s Reason came out, which I luckily got my hands on quite early through my work with Ten Dance magazine, I also found the first software I felt very comfortable with.

What are you currently working on?

Currently I’m working on the 2023 album, which is also well advanced. But I’m going to take a break over the summer and go to Asia for a few weeks. Let’s see if I can really manage to keep my hands off music for that time 😉

Armin van Buuren and Blasterjaxx release second-ever collab: ‘Superman’

As two of the Netherlands’ foremost representatives of the global dance music scene, DJs and producers Armin van Buuren and Blasterjaxx are no strangers to one another.

Having musically connected several times in the past few years through debut collaboration ‘Tarzan‘ and three Blasterjaxx remixes of Armin van Buuren‘s tracks, the A-list acts now drop their highly-anticipated sophomore collaboration: ‘Superman‘ (feat. 24h).

Somewhat of a spiritual successor to Armin van Buuren‘s 2018 smash ‘Blah Blah Blah‘, ‘Superman‘ confidently stands its ground as Armin van Buuren and Blasterjaxx‘s second-ever, stage-destroying link-up. Debuted at the mainstage of Ultra Music Festival in Miami earlier this year, ‘Superman‘ hammers down hard to instill hope, resilience and strength into all who need it.

“I was really excited to work with the Blasterjaxx boys again, as I felt it had been long past due”, Armin van Buuren says. “I can’t wait to play this track as often as I can through the summer.”

“After the success of ‘Tarzan’, we felt it was time for a new festival banger”, Blasterjaxx add. “We feel super thankful to Armin for believing in our skills to work on this track with him.”

ALWZ SNNY Shines Through On These Top 5 Videos

Energetic and fun-loving DJ and producer, ALWZ SNNY, has an undisputed talent for creating catchy songs with great vibes.

But he also creates amazing music videos that capture the tone of his music and convey it visually. They deserve as much love as his music, so we picked out our top five favorite ALWZ SNNY music videos.

Check them out below!

5. “GLOW,” by Hi-Rez, ALWZ SNNY, and Sincerely Collins. Featuring Julia Ross. Animated by Toon54 Productions.

As a fully animated short, “GLOW” is one of the more unique music videos in ALWZ SNNY’s catalog.

The studio behind the animation in this video, Toon54 Productions, has worked with a plethora of other talented artists. Kelly Clarkson, All Time Low, Marshmello, and Darius Rucker are just a few of the many musicians Toon54 has collaborated with.

In “GLOW,” we follow the crew of the ALWZ SNNY spaceship — animated versions of Hi-Rez, ALWZ SNNY, Sincerely Collins, and Julia Ross — as they explore the galaxy. Eventually, they discover a mysterious planet and find strange aliens living there amidst a sea of glowing green orbs of light. The aliens suffer from a power blackout, but SNNY is able to restore energy to the planet by transforming into a giant glowing sun.

In terms of style, the animation used in “GLOW” is very reminiscent of cartoons from the late 1990s and early 2000s, such as Dexter’s Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls. Any viewers familiar with that era of cartoons are sure to feel a wave of nostalgia from watching this music video.

We found the use of animation in “GLOW” to be very endearing. Especially so in the case of SNNY’s character, who becomes much more expressive as a cartoon character. And the vibrant visuals of the overall project make this one a delight for animation fans.

4. “Parachute,” by ALWZ SNNY, featuring Sincerely Collins. Directed by JDFilms.

Anyone who has vivid memories of the dynamic drama of high school is sure to get a kick out of “Parachute.”

Viewers are introduced to a cinematic tale featuring a cast of characters that represent some of the typical archetypes of high school: the “Crush,” the “Jock,” the “Cool Girl,” and the “Mean Girl.” This time around, SNNY plays the role of a shy underdog with big dreams. Sincerely Collins fills in a few different roles throughout the video as he provides lyrics on the track.

The lyrics of “Parachute” describe a love affair between two people who raise each other up and provide support for each other when they fall, just like a parachute. This sentiment fits in when with the love story between SNNY and “Crush” that develops throughout the video.

We see the students at this high school interact in familiar ways. “Jock” bullies SNNY (and their teacher) and SNNY agonizes over being too shy to talk to “Crush.” Ultimately, everything comes to a head at the most important event of every high schooler’s life: prom night.

But something goes wrong: there’s no DJ to play the music! Just when all seems lost, SNNY steps up from the crowd and gets on stage. The other students look at him with uncertainty at first, but he quickly removes any doubts. SNNY saves the night, uniting everyone through the positivity of his music. He even gets a kiss from “Crush” as fireworks explode in the sky. A happy ending if ever there was one.

The fast-paced and upbeat energy of this music video is absolutely infectious, and its story of overcoming shyness to become the life of the party is inspiring.

3. “I’ll Be Alive,” by ALWZ SNNY. Directed by JDFilms.

Have you ever wondered what a game of Monopoly would look like in the real world? If so, then “I’ll Be Alive” is the music video for you.

The story kicks off with a young person wanting to play Monopoly with their two companions. Both of the others look skeptical but wind up agreeing anyway. As they select their pieces, we see them represented in the real world in addition to the board: “The Boat,” “The Car,” and “SNNY.” We also see “The Banker,” clad in a very elegant tuxedo complete with gloves, a top hat, and an old-fashioned pipe.

As the game progresses and the players move their pieces around the board, each of the real-world avatars moves to places described on the board. Locations such as “Water Works,” “Pacific Avenue,” “B&O Railroad Station,” and “Park Place” are all visited. The characters also find themselves in a cell when they go to “Jail,” and find cards from the “Community Chest” in the middle of a cul-de-sac. Eventually, the young person who began the game winds up winning, throwing up their arms in triumph.

I’ll Be Alive” is simply a fun ride from beginning to end. The concept for this music video is very creative, and it hits on all the emotional notes that come with playing a game like Monopoly with your friends or family.

2. “I Don’t Wanna Know,” by ALWZ SNNY. Directed by JDFilms.

Unlike most of SNNY’s music videos, “I Don’t Wanna Know” starts off on a more serious note. We see a couple who are clearly in the middle of a blowout argument, inaudibly yelling at each other. When one person in the presented relationship storms off and leaves, the other is left in a grievous emotional state.

The lyrics in this track strongly elaborate on the difficulties that come with the end of a relationship. Having been left by their partner, the speaker feels heartbroken, isolated, and lost. They wonder about the emotional state of their lost love. The pain is made even worse when they’re surrounded by people who appear to be much happier than them. It’s a story that’s painfully familiar to many people who have experienced difficult breakups. When you truly love someone, it’s hard to let them go.

We then see the person whose heart was broken pass by a flower stand where SNNY is working. It’s a fitting occupation for him, considering his mascot!

Seeing the heartbroken person clearly in distress, SNNY resolves to cheer them up by finding the flower they desire: a “magical yellow rose.” Luckily, SNNY finds one of the flowers and presents it to them, making them smile. The pair then go out for an ice cream date and laugh, clearly having a wonderful time.

This video is sure to be uplifting for anyone going through the undeniable hardship of a breakup. It’s very difficult to imagine feeling any other way in the middle of it, but “I Don’t Wanna Know” is a reminder that life will always get better.

Rounding off our list, “SNNYLAND,” by ALWZ SNNY and Marquette King takes the last spot.

In this music video, we see the titular SNNYLAND in its full glory. Appearing to be a hidden grove of sorts, the place is decorated by stone columns and surrounded by greenery. The sun shines down and even the very air seems to be filled with joyous energy.

Throughout the video, SNNY competes with other DJs — all of whom also have funky helmets — in a friendly competition. As they play, the residents of SNNYLAND, wearing all kinds of fun and outlandish outfits, dance along. Of course, SNNY wins the competition and continues to play for everyone.

Although it may be simple, “SNNYLAND” is the ultimate ALWZ SNNY music video to us. Visually, it contains the main elements of SNNY’s aesthetic: bright lights, vibrant colors, and high-energy direction.

But it also goes beyond just the look of SNNY’s videos. As Marquette King describes in the lyrics, SNNYLAND is a place where there’s no evil, no issues, and everyone is equal. It represents all the ideas and feelings that SNNY cares for and spreads through his art: sunshine, positivity, and happiness.
