Layton Giordani returns to Drumcode with ‘Hyper World’ EP

Super-talented Techno DJ and producer, Layton Giordani returns to Adam Bayer’s world renowned label, Drumcode and takes the next step in the evolution of his sound with his brand new EP ‘Hyper World’.

Despite the challenging year we all shared in 2020 due to Coronavirus outbreak, Giordani continued to grow in leaps and bounds as a producer.

His second studio album ‘New Generation‘ was a critical success and showcased the breadth of his artistry over 11 tracks, with moods fit for both the dancefloor and afterhours alike.

His latest offering, however, flexes its raving muscle and ambles up for the summer. The title track is bad arse, with swirling pads, trippy arpeggios and subtle flourishes of acid and psychedelica that all combine for a stomping finish.

Fresh in every sense. ‘Astro’ is heavy on drama, driven by a big synth lead that pierces the air with intensity, before a delicious mid-track key change pushes the energy up to eleven and shortly after drops down into a celestial break, before building back up again

EDX & Jess Ball reconnect on ‘Take Me Home’

EDX

Exactly one year on from the release of their airwave-dominating debut collaboration I Found You (Neptune) back in May 2020, prolific Swiss hit-machine, EDX, and exquisite Australian singer-songwriter, Jess Ball, now join forces once again to announce their eagerly anticipated sophomore collab, Take Me Home.

Out now via Spinnin’ Records, Take Me Home explores the deeper, more soulful side of EDX’s vast production repertoire, as Switzerland’s most successful electronic artist shows off his endless studio credentials to deliver yet another unique single, brimming with attitude.

Complimenting Jess Ball’s ethereal topline with a perfectly matched deep house instrumental, the club-oriented vocal cut is built around deep luscious basslines, subtle piano riffs, shuffling tech-house rhythms and an unmistakably catchy synth refrain, which EDX manipulates to extraordinary effect throughout.

Speaking about the new record, EDX commented:

Take Me Home is my first vocal single of 2021 and is a very special record to me. Jess and I had such a great time working on ‘I Found You’, so it made perfect sense to reconnect for another collaboration. Jess really is an amazing artist and an absolute pleasure to work with, so I was super excited about the prospect of getting in the studio together again. It’s a little deeper and darker than our first record and I’m so happy with the result. Hope you guys like it!

Chebo unveils the first official remix of his powerful track ‘Tonight’

Multi-talented DJ and producer, Chebo has just unveiled the first official remix of his powerful track ‘Tonight’.

The track commences with a thirty-two second intro that sets the tone for the vocal line. The vocal color is clean and stylistic; seamlessly synchronizing with the upbeat vibe of the instrumental accompaniment. The rhythmic beat, foundational bass, palm-muted guitar and melodic saxophone combine to provide the perfect platform for the vocal.

The saxophone’s imitation of the main vocal melody adds a creative flare and depth to the overall sound. EMRY’s impressive solo from 2:42 to 2:58 adds just the right amount of dynamic diversity to ensure that this single is engaging from start to finish.

By the time ‘Tonight (Ralf Remix) [with EMRY]’ draws to a close, you’ll find yourself humming along with the catchy hook and in need of hitting that repeat button for another listen.

Eli & Fur perform in mesmerising video for new single ‘Come Back Around’

Eli & Fur’s next taste of their forthcoming debut album comes via their new single, “Come Back Around”. The track fuses elegant progressive melodies along with the duo’s ever ethereal vocals, and the accompanying video shows the first visual taste of Eli & Fur singing and performing their debut album material.

Having already garnered prime-time BBCR1 support from Danny Howard, “Come Back Around” is taken from the “In the Wild” side of their dual concept studio album which explores the girls’ penchant for emotive electronica geared for dancefloors.

The writhing bassline gently rises to prominence with unrivaled progression as the track opens up and blossoms into a menagerie of filtered synths and arpeggiator patterns that flourish into a crescendo-like drop.

Eli & Fur’s playful vocals are at the forefront of the mix with a magnetic presence, drawing together the gentle maelstrom of club-focused drum work and laddering synthesizer arrangement.

“‘Come Back Around’ was an instant single to us as it has all of the elements of the album in one track, with dark musical parts but still danceable. It feels like our older early vibes in the bassline, a little deep house, and then you have that progressive feel in the arpeggios and musical layers, followed by that really dry vocal and bass when it drops… really empty but punchy. It sort of flows between the two like the two parts of the album,Eli & Fur says.

Found In The Wild’ is Eli & Fur’s long-awaited studio debut which will be released this summer on the seminal electronic imprint and long-time label home Anjunadeep on 25th June. A dual part album concept, ‘Found in The Wild’ is a sonic presentation of two contrasting and quintessential parts of the unique Eli & Fur sound.

Armin van Buuren releases brand-new mix album: ‘A State Of Trance 2021’

After reaching the milestone number of a thousand episodes with his A State Of Trance radio show, hosting a seven-day countdown stream to reveal the fan-voted ASOT Top 1000 of all time and even releasing a ‘A State Of Trance 1000 – Celebration Mix’ album, Armin van Buuren still isn’t done magnifying an already monumental year in A State Of Trance history.

The five-time #1 DJ in the world launched the highly-anticipated eighteenth installment in his A State Of Trance mix album series: ‘A State Of Trance 2021‘.

Once again taking listeners from the beach to the club with 39 awe-inspiring cuts, ‘A State Of Trance 2021‘ radiates that feeling of togetherness so many fans have come to cherish. Including collaborations between Armin van Buuren and Maor Levi, Tom Staar and Giuseppe Ottaviani, a fresh Rising Star Remix and exclusive new tracks from creators such as Alexander Popov, Aly & Fila, AVIRA, Craig Connelly and Giuseppe Ottaviani, the tracklist of the mix album shows that the artists are able to transcend stylistic limitations in the same way trance music helps fans transcend the things that make them different.

Here’s what Armin van Buuren had to say about it:

I can hardly believe we’re already at the eighteenth edition in this mix album series. A lot of artists – myself included – had a lot of fun in the studio this year, and the amazing output reflects that.

It was especially tough to decide which tracks would make it into the final mix, but I am very pleased with how it all turned out. Leaves me to tell you to turn up that volume and enjoy the full length mix as a whole!

Solomun unveils his long-anticipated sophomore album ‘Nobody Is Not Loved’

Solomun

Over a decade after releasing his debut album, dance music titan Solomun has just released his highly anticipated follow-up Nobody Is Not Loved, on his own NINL label.

Featuring an array of high-profile guest collaborators, Nobody Is Not Loved is a bracing album that plays out much like a DJ set – gradually increasing in tempo across its twelve tracks before mellowing out in the latter stages to ensure a soft landing.

The album title ‘Nobody Is Not Loved’ speaks to the idea that music loves everyone” Solomun explains, “no matter who you are, what you look like or what you believe. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.

The LP opens with ‘Ocean‘, a downbeat melodic house cut that features the silky smooth vocals of none other than Hollywood icon and Grammy-winning R&B star Jamie Foxx – the single is accompanied by an other worldly music video with the A-List actor playing the protagonist – watch it here.

Channelling similar energy, ‘Home‘, the first single teased from the album back in October last year, is next up, a richly atmospheric track that sees the techno maestro incorporate dark tribal tones and ethereal build-ups for a transcendent listening experience.

English avant-electronica prodigy Planningtorock then features on the emotion-tinged, synth-driven ‘Your Love Gives Me Gravity‘, ‘The Center Will Not Hold‘ is a thrilling exercise in building suspense and creating atmosphere, while ‘Out Of Focus‘, featuring the slick vocals of Reading three-piece Zoot Woman, harnesses an infectious indie-dance vibe.

The second half of the LP is characterised by a notable shift in tempo. ‘Tuk Tuk‘, just named Radio 1’s Tune Of The Week, features Dresden-based duo ÄTNA, pairing pumping house beats with hypnotic vocals, before the cold, metallic synth-lines of ‘Never Sleep Again‘, fit with robotic vocoder vocals, takes the record into post-punk and new wave territories.

Take Control‘, a collaboration with cult 80s new wave singer and poet Anne Clark, further explores this terrain, as does the pounding, industrial-influenced snares of ‘Kreatur der Nacht‘, featuring German indie-rock outfit Isolation Berlin, with Solomun drawing on the sound that dominated his formative musical years.

The energy of the previous four tracks then plateaus with the emotion-tinged ‘Wadim‘, a track that sees Solomun expertly craft the kind of melodic techno vibe that he has become synonymous with. Even more introspective is ‘Prospect‘, which again features ÄTNA, before the rich, poignant atmospheres of ‘Night Travel‘ featuring the robotic vocals of Editors vocalist Tom Smith ensures the album is closed out in the most graceful way possible.

It sounds off what has been yet another successful year for Solomun, who has counteracted the Covid-induced clubbing blackout by launching his new record label NINL, dropping a flurry of acclaimed singles and remixing tracks from the likes of Bob Moses, ZHU and Perry Farrell.

Born in Bosnia and raised in Hamburg, he has established himself as one of the finest electronic artists on the planet in recent years, winning the DJ Awards accolade for ‘Best International DJ’ multiple times and remixing countless notable acts, including Foals, Editors, Lana Del Rey, Paul Kalkbrenner, Jamiroquai, Depeche Mode, Apparat, Jon Hopkins and Leonard Cohen. Nobody Is Not Loved is only the second album of his career, following on from 2009’s Dance Baby.

Dance music fans have had to wait more than eleven years for Solomun‘s second album. Nobody Is Not Loved proves that it has been well worth the wait.

For the drop, I collaborated with the Sam Feldt Live Band to record live horns, to take the energy of the song to the next level. I’m really excited to share the end result, because let’s be honest: two Sams are better than one

Sam Fischer says: “I’m stoked to be joining forces with Sam Feldt for Pick Me Up. He says ‘two Sams are better than one’ and I couldn’t agree more. Sam’s made people dance and brought joy to so many summers for years now, while I’ve been more in the business of making tears with my music. Dragonette, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Cat Dealers and Bruno Martini unleash big summer anthem: ‘Summer Thing’

Any of the names tied to this sizzling single has the ability to send the global crowd into a frenzy, let alone when all four put their names on a single record. ‘Summer Thing’ brings Dragonette, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Cat Dealers and Bruno Martini together on one phenomenal summer anthem, and it’s every bit as special as the magnitude of this line-up suggests.

A song full of optimism and confidence, this delightful all-star link-up between Martina from Dragonette, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Cat Dealers and Bruno Martini is as gorgeous and captivating as the glow of the morning sun at an idyllic beach location.

With playful vocals paying homage to summer love stories on an instrumental backdrop that brings warmth and excitement in equal parts, ‘Summer Thing‘ is the perfect song to head into the summer with.

From the moment we got the demo and the vocals for ‘Summer Thing’, we fell in love with it”, Cat Dealers share.

“This track has a funny story to it too! We – Cat Dealers, Bruno Martini and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – are represented by the same manager, so he decided to send the demo separately to all of us knowing that we’d all love the track. Turns out we did love it, but no one was aware at that point that we all wanted to work on it too! When we found out, we decided to collaborate and work together on the track, so his plan actually worked out pretty well.

We’ve been huge fans of Martina from Dragonette ever since ‘Hello’ and of Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano too, way before Cat Dealers even existed. It’s also a pleasure to work with Bruno Martini again, with whom we produced ‘Gone Too Long’. We’re super happy with the final result. It’s a very summery track that brings lot of positive vibes, which is something the world really needs right now.

The great thing about this track is how it all came about very organically“, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano add.

One of the producers involved, Paul Harris, sent us an amazing vocal from Martina from Dragonette and we jumped on it. Our management also showed Cat dealers and Bruno Martini and everyone loved it. I guess it has that real summer flavor, a sense of optimism we were looking for. Let’s not forget that we started working on this bang in the middle of the pandemic, so we really thought about a song that would resonate and bring positive vibes to people.

In the end, we all worked on a final song that would fit the sound of each of the artists involved, which is quite unusual because we do all have our own specific styles. We’re very excited about this one, and the video is also amazing. We hired a really cool up-and-coming director in Brazil, who shot the video on location in Bahia with local actors and crew.. Above all, it showed us how you can work together and create something special in challenging times… we hope it resonates with our fans.

Summer Thing’ was written in lockdown“, Martina from Dragonette says.

Paul Harris, my buddy and longtime collaborator, brought me in with him and Toby Scott. I think we were all trying to escape reality and put ourselves into a summer landscape of limitless possibilities.

Having mega producers Cat Dealers, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and Bruno Martini hop on this track was the ultimate compliment. They took the summer vibe of the vocal and amped it up a thousand times. I don’t know about everyone else, but if everything fails, music is my escape and writing this song took me where I needed to go.
