Kölsch delivers incredibly emotive rework of Joe Goddard & Franky Rizardo’s ‘No Judgement’

Dutch DJ and producer, Kölsch puts his signature touch on Franky Rizardo & Joe Goddard’s ‘No Judgement’, out today on FFRR.

The original came together via a plan concocted to bring artists together during these unconventional times by BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard. Launching his ‘Lockdown Link Up‘ he paired artists & producers at random, Franky Rizardo and Joe Goddard were two out of sixteen dually selected to collaborate on production during their time in isolation. Since its release, the track has had vast support across airwaves and DSP’s with plays from Pete Tong & Danny Howard, as well as being added to key dance lists such as Spotify‘s ‘Altar‘.

Kölsch has been a master in rewriting the rulebook on techno production and is critically acclaimed in his craft, known for setting it on a melodic and emotion-induced course. His rework of ‘No Judgement‘ holds the incredibly soulful vocal to the forefront, layering it around stirring electronic lines in typical Kolsch fashion.

With a string of high-profile festival shows, Kölsch has continued his run of global domination with his Ibiza residencies & Berghain Panorama Bar DJ sets & his infamous live stream on top of the Eiffel Tower racking up 5 million viewers. Adding that to his residency on BBC Radio 1, worldwide tours and summer hits such as ‘Hell To The Liars‘, Kölsch traditionally provides groundbreaking and genre-defining cuts in all he does and his ‘No Judgement‘ rework makes no excuse.

Eelke Kleijn eases the tempo with Samaha’s slow edit scoring a ‘Midnight Affair’

Rotterdam’s Eelke Kleijn introduces a fresh twist on his 2017 DAYS like NIGHTS release ‘De Order Van De Nacht’, courtesy of Anthony Samaha. Thanks to the Seattle-based producer’s handiwork, the single’s desert groove now boasts an instantly recognizable Mary J Blige classic.

For those with finely tuned ears, the fusion of Blige’s ‘Family Affair‘ and Eelke‘s production is seamless, and the final mash-up undoubtedly breathes life into both masters.

Eelke explains how the marriage between these two tracks came about:

In January 2020 Anthony Samaha reached out, saying he was a big fan. He said he had an interesting proposal about ‘De Orde Van De Nacht’, which he used at a slower tempo in his live DJ sets, and that he’d come up with an edit involving a Mary J Blige song – a secret weapon for shows kind of thing – that people had been loving and asking about. Immediately I fell in love with the edit – once all the necessary clearing and studio tweaking was done by me and my team, it felt good being able to put it out“.

Eelke Kleijn is putting his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and composer to good use with regular compositions for TV and film, his work scoring Hollywood blockbusters such as ‘Batman vs Superman‘, ‘Rush‘ and ‘This Means War‘. This is when he’s not producing acclaimed albums, or remixing the likes of John Legend, Pendulum and Jennifer Lawrence.

His third album ‘Moments Of Clarity‘ featured the soaring track ‘1,000 Lights‘, originally composed as part of a 670 drone art piece at Burning Man 2018 in memory of festival founder Larry Harvey.

Two years on, Kleijn‘s ‘Oscillations‘ LP blended progressive, ambient, breakbeat, and other shades of electronica for both dancefloors and headphones. 2021 saw Kleijn played an exclusive live set atop the Mont-Saint-Michelin in France, a concert broadcasted by Cercle, and on top of all this, he runs the DAYS Like NIGHTS label, extending to a radio show, podcast and world-renowned audiovisual events.

Mathame remix announced as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune

DJ and producer duo Mathame is to kick off a four-part remix release with their own unique take on ‘Breath’ by Italian pianist and composer Alessandro Martire. It is due for release on April 16th and will be followed by further remixes of his Share The World album by Havoc & Lawn, BLR, and John Talabot.

Mathame is an Italian techno pair who bring real depth of emotion to their grooves. They release on labels like Tale Of Us‘s Afterlife, Sony/B1 and have a truly emotive and deep techno sound that’s full of melody.

They are still riding high off the success of their globally acclaimed 2020 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, and have recently launched a groundbreaking series of mixtapes that have been put together with a brand new A.I. algorithm developed to test the power of the new M1 processor architecture by Apple. Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1 landed in March 2021, with further installments to follow throughout the year. But first comes this stunning new remix.

The dreamy and descriptive atmospheres of the original tracks receive new lifeblood from these remixers who all transform the sounds.

In Mathame‘s more electronic remix, Martire‘s melodies sometimes remain recognizable, other times they blend into the visionary operations of the DJs. Say the pair:

We put our emotional touch to the original record transferring the feeling it gave us from the first listen. An almost ethereal emotion but with movement and groove, we had this image: how to stand in front of luminous cables of some kind of material that stretch and relax and vibrate together, almost breathing, like a body.

We’re so excited to be dropping this track… Eli and Fur are like sisters to us. We met about 5/6 years ago in Newcastle at Club Digital and the connection has stayed real ever since. It’s funny, despite knowing each other for all that time we had never officially spoken about collaborating – it’s always just been us joking around when we do link up, so it’s so exciting to to finally get to do this and go back to back vocally and production wise. This one felt really special from the jump”. Luke, Disciples
