Sziget Festival will not take place in 2020 due to Coronavirus

The music industry is currently on pause as the world battles the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. In an effort to prevent spreading the virus, many festivals and music events have been canceled, rescheduled, or modified. One of them is Hungary’s Sziget festival. They’ve announced that Sziget will not take place in 2020 as planned before.

Dear Szitizens,

We’re very grateful for all of the patience and support you’ve given us through this difficult period.

The Hungarian government has just extended the ban on large-scale events until 15 August 2020, and due to this official prohibition, we are heartbroken to let you know that Sziget Festival cannot take place this year.

Sziget has always been special because of the atmosphere that you, our Szitizens, create and we are devastated that we won’t be able to see you on The Island of Freedom this summer. Sharing an unforgettable week with you is what keeps us going throughout the year and whilst our whole team has been working very hard on preparing for the festival, your Sziget adventure will now have to wait until 2021. As hard as it is, we believe that this decision best serves the safety of all of you and everyone working at our festival.

We would like to ask for your patience whilst we work with our ticketing partners to prepare the arrangements for ticket buyers. We will share all of the details with you by email as soon as we can.

Sziget started out as a small gathering and over the last 28 years has grown to become an unbreakable family of Szitizens from all around the world. Although this year we cannot celebrate together in person, we will always be here for you and we know that the power of our community will help us through this!

We can’t wait to see you all next year on The Island of Freedom!

ARTY inspires with new song: ‘Kingdom’ ft. Conrad Sewell

Still riding the wave after releasing the four tracks from the first volume of his collaborative ‘From Russia With Love’ project, ARTY is picking up the pace with a new standalone single.

Released on Armada Music, ‘Kingdom‘ features the unique vocal touches of Conrad Sewell and rises as an empowering dance-rock record that sends sparkly flying.

A genre-crossing record, ARTY and Conrad Sewell‘s ‘Kingdom‘ is an inspiring anthem about self-belief. With soaring vocals and melodic brilliance, this record shows once again why ARTY is an astute, innovative star in the dance community.

When asked about the creative process of his new single, ARTY said:

“I worked on ‘Kingdom’ longer than any other record in my career, by far. I wrote it together with Conrad Sewell and Michael Jade back in 2013. I was amazed by how powerful it felt.

For six years, and maybe eight different versions, every time I was trying to produce and finish this song, I could never match the euphoric feeling of Conrad’s vocals. When I was about to give up, it suddenly struck me and I made an entirely new production overnight. This is why this track will always be so special to me.”

“I still remember writing ‘Kingdom’ like it was yesterday“, Conrad Sewell added.

“ARTY, Michael and I were over at the Universal Studios. ARTY and I had just met and we had hit it off, having already written one song together. I decided to bring Michael in since we had been writing together a lot, and we wanted to write something epic that could cross genres. I’m a huge Killers fan and to be honest, that was a big inspiration for the lyrics of the song.

We all wanted something uplifting where my vocal could soar over anthemic music. ARTY then took the topline that Michael and I had written and brought it to life with the huge track you hear today. The song is about never giving up on your dreams; life is short and beautiful so let us make the most of our today and tomorrows.”

Tomorrowland takes on another week with its unique live broadcast United Through Music

Armada Music launches initiative to unite the global dance music industry: ‘7 Artists Unite’

Now that the global COVID-19 pandemic has made it undeniably clear that people need to support one another more than ever before, Armada Music has launched a new initiative in tandem with seven befriended artists.

Through this new seven-day playlist take-over campaign called ‘7 Artists Unite‘, the Amsterdam-, New York- and London-based record label aims to unite the global dance music industry whilst simultaneously urging other labels and artists to pay it forward.

Running for a full week, the #7ArtistsUnite campaign will see friends and colleagues Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Lost Frequencies, Loud Luxury, Nicky Romero, Steve Aoki and W&W stand together under one banner.

Each of them will be taking over the combined playlist for one whole day, sprucing up the top spots of the playlist with their favorite ten-track selection. Already amassing 20 million combined streams, ‘On My Mind‘ has been chosen by BBC Radio 1 for ‘Tune Of The Week’, as well as reaching #1 on US Dance Radio.

Cercle returns with a special performance from Bob Sinclar in Paris

After a brief hiatus, world’s best dance music livestreaming platform, Cercle returns with another highly anticipated project as they host legendary DJ and producer, Bob Sinclar in Paris, France.

On Monday, May 4th, the major streaming company gives fans another unique experience as Bob Sinclar is set to perform a very unique set from the summit of the Arc de Triomphe, in Paris. The event is a special one, as it aims to raise funds for the fight against COVID-19 and is in collaboration with iRaiser and le Centre des monuments nationaux.

As mentioned above, all donations will directly help three organizations that are on the front lines fighting the pandemic. The fondation de France, the Medecins Sans Frontieres, and the One-O-One.

Cercle Bob Sinclar

Cercle is calling on artists, labels, producers, and actors in the music world to join in on the, “Music Against Covid” movement. Here is the link provided to help raise funds for the cause.

This event is forbidden to the public during the period of lockdown. When the show starts, Cercle have announced that a very small team will open the show as they practice safe social distancing guidelines recommended by World Health Organisation.

The live will begin at 20:00 PM just after the applause to caregivers and will be broadcasted live on Cercle’s facebook page.

Joris Voorn is calling on his fans to request a track for ‘Lockdown Dedication’

This week Dutch DJ and producer, Joris Voorn celebrates 3 years of delivering his forward-thinking Spectrum Radio show to 40 radio stations around the world, who reach over 6 million dance music fans at the time of show airing.

Instead of a huge fanfare and in true fashion, Joris chose to hand over part of the show to his fans so they can connect with others to share personal stories of love and support during isolation. The slot is titled Lockdown Dedication and it does what it says on the tin.

Fans from all over the world already sent in messages of love to family and friends who have helped make their isolation a little easier. To say thank you, they’ve chosen any electronic music song that means something to them and their dedication. As Voorn says himself: “I feel more connected to you all than ever.”

The first round of stories have been heartwarming already. Fans have dedicated their favorite tracks to their lover who they’ve met at a festival, a friend who helps them cope with their anxiety and a family member who’s always there for them.

was present by phone helped me through lockdown. We do not see each other
really often, but Iʼm always grateful to talk to him. Why did I choose ‘Dance Alone’?
I think everything is in the title sadly for lots of us, but weʼre lucky enough to have the chance to be alive and listening to streams.”

Nic Fanciulli launches new Instagram talk show ‘As I Was Saying…’

Nic Fanciulli is set to launch a new weekly Instagram talk show ‘As I Was Saying…’, kicking off on 1st May with fellow dance music legend and Ibiza mainstay Carl Cox.

Taking place on Thursdays at 9pm (GMT) for six consecutive weeks, ‘As I Was Saying…‘ will see Fanciulli invite guests to join him on IGTV for an entertaining 30-minute online talk show, discussing everything from current affairs to career highlights and cookery.

From Premier League footballers to internationally renowned DJ’s, Fanciulli will hold the long-form conversations with a view to discovering how those around us are coping during these trying times.

Following Carl Cox will be Milan-based fashion designer Marcelo Burlon (7th May), who’s creative work in the underground music scene has seen him DJ regularly alongside the likes of Loco Dice and Ilario Alicante.

Then there’s dance music royalty in the form of BBC Radio 1 icon Pete Tong (14th May) and finally Chelsea Football Club star Marcos Alonso (21st May), a regular at Fanciulli’s Ibiza parties during the summer months – the series will also be joined with two other guests still to be announced.

One of the most recognizable figures from the world of dance music and a name synonymous with Ibiza, Fanciulli regularly performs at some of the White Isle’s best parties, including Circoloco, Paradise and ANTS. He also launched his own weekly Dance or Die party last year, which took place at the iconic Ushuaïa, and celebrated the 15th anniversary of his Saved Records imprint by launching an exclusive merchandise collection.
