Hide&Seek Festival drops a world-class line-up including Raresh, Apollonia and many more

After a stunning first outing in 2019, Hide&Seek Festival returns to the grounds of Capesthorne Hall in Macclesfield, Cheshire on September 5th, 2020 – with a world-class line-up just announced that includes Apollonia, Jeremy Underground, Move D, Sonja Moonear, Raresh, VOIGT.MAS, Ingi Visions, Detroit Swindle, Gene On Earth and many more over 12 hours of dancing.

Also revealed today, festival-goers can expect entirely new stage concepts for this year’s edition as the event continues to build, while organizers plan further developments to existing stages and the wider audio/visual production standards that so impressed last time around. Most importantly, they plan to preserve the intimate close-knit family feeling on-site with a limited fixed capacity.

On the announcement of the date, pre-sale tickets sold out in double-quick time and so Early Bird numbers have now been boosted alongside the reveal of the 2020 DJ line-up. Move fast to make sure that you don’t miss out on cheap entry tickets for this cult new festival which sold out in 2020.

Hide&Seek Festival 2020 lineup

After a bold and well-received debut, 2020 will see the Hide&Seek concept really come to life. Last year, the template was laid out, and the response was phenomenal – artists hung around to soak up the vibes after their sets, the crowd was in the know and traveled from the four corners of the UK and beyond. That template was forward-thinking music, fresh and exciting stage designs, and a first-class showcase of cutting-edge artists that gets all the details exactly right.

Hide&Seek is located on the grounds of Capesthorne Hall Estate and bordered by picturesque, green Cheshire countryside. This truly unique venue overlooks three lakes, stunning formal gardens and once more promises to host a unique, breathtaking experience that puts you at one with nature and music.

A first-class array of house, techno, disco, and minimal stars will lead from the booth during the day, with the titan French trio Apollonia lining up next to underground heroes like Sonja Moonear and Raresh, who have stripped-back styles that are sure to take you on a heady, rhythmic trip. Frenchman Jeremy Underground will bring his bottomless record bag for everything from rare soul and funk to finest deep house.

Then come Dutch house duo Detroit Swindle; fearsome duos such as VOIGT.MAS (Voigtmann & John Dimas), Spokenn (Ferro & Reiss) and Ingi Visions (Samuel Deep & Julian Alexander).

There is more from cult American groove maker Gene on Earth, fast-rising Frenchman Sweely with his uniquely danceable live set, Leeds legend and Back to Basics resident Tristan da Cunha and a special guest yet to be announced.

Add to this emerging selectors who have broken onto the circuit in style, of whom are at the forefront of a new generation talent; You&Me frontman Josh Baker, scouse duo UZU from MODU:LAR, Real Gang head honcho / Slapfunk resident Miller & Beeyou records bossman / Infuse resident Laidlaw, all bringing their new wave sounds to the Mill Wood.

Hide&Seek‘s continued mission is to create a festival for like-minded music lovers to come together and experience something which has not previously been on offer within the North of England across one stand-out day and night. Wider line-up information, local talent, stage announcements, brand partners and more are yet to be revealed.

Amsterdam Dance Event ADE

Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s leading conference and festival for electronic music and its associated industries, is gearing up for its 25th-anniversary edition which will take place from 21st to 25th October 2020. As part of the celebration, the organization is taking the ADE Pro conference back to its “home base”, Felix Meritis on the Amsterdam canals.

Between 1999 and 2016, eighteen editions of the ADE conference were hosted at Felix Meritis. While the venue was closed to undergo major renovations, the organization found a temporary home in DeLaMar Theater near the popular Leidseplein.

“Felix Meritis is one of the most iconic cultural landmarks on the Amsterdam canals. Hosting ADE at such a location has made it possible for the event to develop and grow into the gathering it is today” states Meindert Kennis, director of ADE.

“The result of Felix’s renovation is absolutely spectacular and its reopening couldn’t come at a better moment. It enables us to return to our “home base” for our 25th anniversary, which makes this edition extra special” adds co-director Jan-Willem van de Ven.

Since its start in 1996, Amsterdam Dance Event has grown into the leading global gathering for electronic music minds, artists, industry leaders, academics, upcoming talent, and fans.

Where it once began as a conference in one venue attended by 300 delegates and 30 performing DJs spread over three locations, ADE currently attracts over 400,000 people and features an extensive day and night programme of over 1,000 events, showcasing 2,500 artists and 600 speakers across 200 venues. During Amsterdam Dance Event the city of Amsterdam lives and breathes electronic music for five days.

More news about ADE’s Conference and Festival program confirmed speakers and artists will follow soon. In the meantime, you can find all the ADE updates here.

Claptone Announces The Return Of ‘The Masquerade’ To Pacha Ibiza

Enigmatic DJ and producer Claptone is bringing The Masquerade, his spellbinding event concept, back to Pacha Ibiza for a second season this summer commencing on May 23rd, with the weekly run of parties switching to Saturday for 2020.

The Masquerade‘ has quickly become a highlight on the Ibizan calendar, promising magic, mystery and intrigue, within a supercharged environment of wonder. It’s a place where one can live out their deepest desires, an extraordinary atmosphere, full of masked faces, complemented by some of Pacha‘s world-famous and beautiful costumed dancers, held every Saturday throughout the summer.

It follows on from a massively well-received first season, which welcomed MK, Diplo, Purple Disco Machine, Duke Dumont, Kerri Chandler, Basement Jaxx and many more to the idyllic shores of the White Isle for a string of majestic parties.

Claptone Ibiza

Here’s what Claptone had to say about it:

“It’s crazy to think last summer was just the beginning, it already felt that perfect to me. To be honest, I can’t fully fathom that after that epic 2019 season, I’ll be back at Pacha for 2020, to present an even bigger, better and longer season of The Masquerade – on the weekend. There will be exciting guests, propulsive house music and all these great performers that your heart desires! in our sanctuary, each Saturday for 21 weeks. This is only the beginning.”

Originating in 2016, Claptone took his unique ‘The Masquerade‘ show to select cities and venues around the globe, from The Brooklyn Mirage in New York to Electric Brixton in London, from Estadio Geba in Buenos Aires to Burnley Park in Melbourne, from Club Space in Miami to his own arena at Belgium’s iconic Tomorrowland.

A unique figure in modern music, Claptone is like no other. Playing over 260 shows around the world each year, his idiosyncratic, spellbinding very own house sound has caught the attention of many. The second iteration of his Ibiza residency is certain to harbour many more.

Matte BLACK announces 2020 lineup feat Peggy Gou

Peggy Gou

BLACK will return to New York this spring, intersecting high-level electronic music and contemporary visual art in symbiotic fashion at Knockdown Center.

Headlining in April is Gudu Records head honcho and internationally acclaimed multi-hyphenate DJ, producer, designer Peggy Gou. From genre-bending beats to ethereal ambient soundscapes, Peggy Gou is an expert creator of a universal good time. Joining Peggy behind the decks will be Berghain royalty Marcel Dettmann, DIY electronic fixture DMX Krew, plus dance music torchbearers AceMoMa (MoMa Ready & AceMo), Sol Ortega, Turtle Bugg, and Chloe Caillet.

Since 2013, MATTE – the creative company behind BLACK – has consistently brought mystery to each execution, confounding expectations about how people see art and live music today. A concept-driven experience that has featured boundary-pushing musicians and visual artists including Virgil Abloh, Gesaffelstein, Little Dragon, Jesper Just, Marie Davidson, and Tavares Strachan, BLACK symphonizes space & sound by melding gallery-quality installations with the energy of an underground rave.

House and techno meet experimental in MATTE’s thoughtfully curated ecosystem where everyone from all ends of the dance & art spectrum come together for one culturally prismatic night. This year, BLACK’s deconstructed world will embrace the rawness of its production, while still bringing a multi-sensory unpredictability to the lineup with visual artists being announced in the following weeks.

Peggy Gou’s infectious music is an approachable hybrid of sounds, which complements BLACK’s ability to reinterpret deeply entrenched forms. As Gou gears up to record her debut album this year and reduce gigs in the process, BLACK is poised to forge a different domain for the artist to play with fans’ perspectives.

Tickets for BLACK are on sale today, February 4, at black-nyc.com.

Monika Kruse’s Terminal M label to celebrate 20 year anniversary

via Christoph Köstling

2020 is a big year for Monika Kruse’s Terminal M label as it turns 20 years old with a series of label showcases in London, Basel and Berlin, as well as two big various artists compilations.

Terminal M has long been one of techno’s most reliable labels. Dealing in peak-time sounds with a hint of dark melody, it has built up a peerless catalogue of releases from a mix of artists old and new.

The likes of Anna, Pig&Dan, Joyhauser, Ramon Tapia, Transcode, Andhim, Teenage Mutants, Stefano Noferini and tens more have all contributed, while of course Monika‘s own music and DJ sets have helped take the label’s style to the world.

The celebratory tour kicks off at Egg Club in London on March 7th with Uakoz, Mark Reeve and Monika before heading to Nordstern in Basel on April 18th with Timmo and Monika. Lastly for now, it is to Watergate in Berlin on May 23rd with Kevin de Vries, Ilia Dokovic, Gregor Tresher, Drunken Kong, Ohne Alles, Dennis Kuhl and Monika.

There are also planned showcases in the autumn in both Argentina & Japan, soon to be confirmed.

Terminal M

The two compilations take two different approaches: Terminal M The Past looks back over the last 20 years with a collection of the label’s most enduring classics, while Terminal M The Future will feature new tracks by Monika herself next to key family members as well as remixes of older tracks. There will also be a long-overdue release of the cult Crystal Water track ‘Gypsy Woman‘ as remixed by Luca Morris and Mozzy.

There will also be some remixes of classic tunes of Monika‘s too, – “Solid State” will be remixed by Balthazar and Jackrock and „Violet” by Konstantin Sibold.

After two decades of defining the underground techno sound, Monika Kruse‘s Terminal M continues to lead from the very front in 2020.

KiNK to curate his very own Soundcheck event at London’s E1

KiNK

An event where there is no one defining the genre, where we embrace the various creative outlets of the artists on show and new exciting musical projects are given their chance to shine.

For the first time ever in one evening, KiNK will perform the notorious Live show that earned him the top spot in the final two editions of the RA Live polls, and then go on to perform a drum & bass DJ set in E1’s Dark Studio.

Whilst many know KiNK for his incredible showmanship, playful house & techno productions (epitomized best by his “Playground” LP on Gerd Janson‘s Running Back in 2017), and his warm nature and popularity, what they may not know is that he has a deep love of drum & bass.

KiNK‘s earliest exposure to dance music was through pirated cassette tapes that he used to buy on the streets of Sofia, Bulgaria in the 90’s. Future Sound of London and Shy FX were some of his favourites and he spent hour upon hour listening to the signature drum and bass sound that was coming out of London in the 90’s.

Anyone who’s seen KiNK’s Live show or his RA Alternate Cuts Jungle set, will know just how special this is going to be.

Joining KiNK, is another one of the dance music’s greatest figures. There are few names in the music industry that have had such a profound impact on the culture of dance music as Goldie. Founder of the legendary drum & bass outfit Metalheadz, being awarded an MBE, an actor in the James Bond film The World is Not Enough and Guy Ritchie’s classic ‘Snatch’, a highly regarded graffiti artist and producer of the boundary-pushing Inner City Life and Timeless. His contributions to creative culture are unparalleled.

Goldie

As a DJ, he’s at his best when he has time to tell his story. So he’ll be playing at Extended DJ set in the Dark Studio with MC GQ.

In E1‘s Warehouse, we’re thrilled to have Goldie present his newest creative project “Subjective” in partnership with James Davidson (one half of Ulterior Motive). Subjective‘s debut album “Act One – Music for Inanimate Objects‘ featured African rhythms, ambient Jazz, vocals from the likes of Natalie Duncan, Tyler Daley, and Terri Walker. Even contributions from Jon Dixon of Detroit techno legends Underground Resistance.

Headlining support in the Warehouse is one of the most masterful disc jockeys we know. Detroit legend DJ Bone. A DJ’s DJ who earned his respect within the scene, as a DJ first and foremost, whilst many others have gone down the production route. Blending, scratching, back spinning, no monitors or headphones; unrivaled in his use of the fader switch, you name it he does it and he incorporates it all into every set.

His dedication to the art of dance music and DJ’ing is so untainted and intense that the tales of his confrontational encounters with flashy booking agents and “big name” DJs are already the stuff of legend. No hype or trends, just a relentless drive, and passion to take the party to another level. That’s why he’s one of the few spin masters other DJs hate to follow.

The line-up doesn’t stop there though. Playing in the bass orientated Dark Studio is an artist who through his time as Om Unit, has always drawn from various influences that include hip-hop, dubstep, ambient, jungle, footwork, techno and more. In the late 2000s, Om Unit began to travel across genres and scenes in search of sonic tropes to cross-breed and re-imagine. Key to his approach has always been a desire to never settle for the destination and instead focus on what can be learned from the journey.

In 2011, Om Unit set up Cosmic Bridge Records – his own label through which he has exercised an A&R sensibility that has created an exciting independent home for like-minded artists. In 2014 he signed to Goldie‘s Metalheadz, where he was given access to Goldie’s personal sample archive as the inspiration for his Inversion album.

Another special guest will be announced shortly. All we can say for now is that she’s one of the most exciting producers to break through the UK dance scene right now.

Straight off the back of his Phonox debut alongside key players from the Innervisions roster and opening set for Sasha at E1, their resident DJ Nick Castle also joins the bill.

Curated by KiNK, produced by Labyrinth. See you on May 9th…

ALPHA 9 returns to Anjunabeats with “Dreams”

Few artists share such a storied history with Anjunabeats than Artem Stolyarov. Redefining trance and progressive with a festival edge in the early naughties, the likes of ‘Around The World’, ‘Kate’, ‘Rebound’ (with Mat Zo) and ’The Wonder’ helped shape the sound of the genre.

With Anjunabeats once again evolving as we enter our twentieth year, Artem comes home, reprising his ALPHA 9 alias with ‘Dreams’.

While 2019’s ‘Before The Dawn’ (feat. Kameron Alexander) showcased ALPHA 9’s darker side, ‘Dreams’ is a return to the effortlessly catchy riffs that made him such a beloved act. With Miami Music Week just around the corner, it’s a reminder of the sun-soaked tracks that have made Artem such a revered producer.

ALPHA 9 Dreams

“ALPHA 9 is coming back home; to a place where its music always belonged [Anjunabeats]. I’ve been waiting for this week to come for a very long time,” ALPHA 9 says.
