Today SXM Festival has revealed its phase two lineup of globally renowned selectors for the March 11-15, 2020 edition.

It is with the constantly evolving taste of the international dance music community in mind that SXM Festival crafts its scene-leading musical offerings. The result is a mixing pot of industry titans and emerging acts sourced from all corners of the world with the united purpose of pushing the sounds of the underground to their absolute limit.

The means by which these performances are spread across five days of peaks and valleys remains the true magic of the SXM Festival experience. Each set is thought of as part of an emotional odyssey taking travelers on a rhythmic journey through the natural beauty of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten.

Attendees may find themselves dancing on the idyllic shores of Happy Bay at sunset, partying at a premiere nightclub until dawn, then being swept away for a Boat Party at or a blissful sunrise soirée at Boho’s Beachclub.

The ebb and flow of the event is what retains its uniqueness, with each bespoke performance just a quick trip away from luxury villas and world-class hotels in which to rest for the day ahead. Each aspect of the programming aims to build towards its infamous emotional crescendos like the exclusive clifftop Villa Party and iconic Sunday morning Sunrise over Happy Bay. More info on schedule flow and venues here.

Since the devastating impact on the island by a series of 2017 hurricanes, SXM Festival sought to further its devotion to the support of the local people of the island and the protection of the natural resources that make it one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Its famed stages and decor are crafted from natural materials sourced from the island itself, while its world-leading low-energy LED lighting design is powered by solar technology.

In partnership with the Martinique non-profit organization Les Connections, SXM Festival‘s waste management and recycling principles will continue to be a the forefront of the event’s infrastructure in a two-fold process to both its minimize environmental impact and educate fans in the hopes of integrating these principles into the wider, global community. Attendees will also continue to be treated to a convenient official-SXM Festival shuttle system that helps reduce carbon emissions.

Furthering this ethos, fans are encouraged to work alongside SXM artists in a series of activities including mid-event beach cleanups as well as a pre-event garbage collection for local St Martin residendents. This year round partnership, The Get Up Clean Up! Lead by Mystraw Company and Dauphin Telecom offers local participants a chance to earn free tickets to the event, adding a truly multicultural attendee-base felt in few other global events.

In 2019 organizers, artists, and attendees bound together through the SXM Festival created Two Bunch Palms Foundation to donate school equipment and rebuilt recreation centers on the island. Further resources and involvement were supplied to SXM Doet, the largest volunteer program in Sint Maarten and the Dutch Kingdom, which sees thousands of participants giving back across the island. This year these efforts will be furthered, offering festival-goers the chance to give back while in the midst of their five day journey throughout this culturally rich destination experience.

While these cornerstones of showcasing the natural and cultural heritage of the island remain at the forefront of the SXM mantra, attendees will also be treated to an utmost sense of luxury that can be experienced at very few events around the world.

VIP packages allow special access to the exclusive clifftop villa party, lounge areas, bars, and other onsite venue amenities. Those seeking a truly premiere journey can secure convenient all-inclusive hotel rooms and a bevy of luxury villa options spread throughout the island. More info here.

It is under the spotlight of the global dance music community that SXM Festival charts its course towards creating the perfect destination experience defined by the pivotal balance of music, cultural adventure, and higher connection.

Luttrell makes a return to Anjunadeep with his second LP ‘Lucky Ones’

Luttrell

After a whirlwind 2019, which saw Eric Luttrell release his acclaimed debut solo album ‘Into Clouds’ on Anjunadeep, the prolific San Francisco native makes a swift return to the UK imprint with his second LP ‘Lucky Ones’.

Kicking off this spring, Eric embarks on his most extensive headline tour to date, with 23 North American shows revealed so far, which includes a performance at the iconic Coachella festival, with more to be announced.

First breaking into electronic music as part of the OWSLA-affiliated trio The M Machine, Eric launched his solo project in 2016 with the widely supported ‘Need You’ EP, while Anjunadeep catalog favorites ‘Generate’ EP and Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World ‘Intergalactic Plastic’ followed in quick succession.

Now with his highly-praised debut album under his belt, which reached #2 on iTunes Dance Album charts in USA and Canada and #8 in the Official UK Dance Album Charts, Luttrell’s unique brand of quirky melodic house and techno has cemented his name as one of the scenes most hotly tipped talents; opening doors to working with Moby, Tycho, Jai Wolf, and Blossoms all of whom commissioned remixes from Eric.

Whereas ‘Into Clouds’ examined the transitional periods of life, and was reflective of Eric’s mindset at the time of recording, ‘Lucky Ones’ is a celebration. Anchored in themes of gratitude, the LP is a collection of 11 meticulously crafted cuts which see him draw from a deep pool of personal influences, including the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and The Prodigy, his love for San Francisco and Burning Man, time spent as a student in Berlin, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and even winning the US TV game show, The Price Is Right.

Luttrell offers up a first taster of his new LP with the new club cut, ‘My Friend The Sun’. Bolstering an enigmatic vocal sample with an array of percussion and catchy synth stabs, Luttrell’s first album single demonstrates why he’s been championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Phil Taggart, Kolsch, Lane 8, Mixmag and Billboard, and marks a statement return for the San Franciscan ahead of his anticipated second studio album.

Lucky Ones’ is available to pre-order now via Anjunadeep, digitally, on CD and on limited edition 2×12” Vinyl with Luttrell motif die-cut slipcase.

Luuk van Dijk launches his brand new imprint Dark Side Of The Sun with the first EP ‘Suavo’

Luuk Van Dijk

Luuk van Dijk starts a brand new imprint of his own called Dark Side Of The Sun. The very first EP ‘Suavo’ is ready to set the tone with two of Van Dijk’s own high impact tracks and a remix from house tastemaker Sidney Charles, while collaborations with events and potentially a club night will follow.

Luuk Van Dijk has started the brand to give himself more freedom in releasing his own music, whatever he likes and whenever he wants to. Dark Side Of The Sun will allow him to explore his own musical boundaries and make him progress as an artist, while tapping up talented friends for remixes. As such, it will become a platform for the wide spectrum of house and techno. In his own words: “it will be happy, housey, dark, baddass basslines, dry beats, tight, swing; you name it.”

The main track ‘Suavo’ is a hard-hitting house tune with rock solid kicks and spaced out pads that bring warmth and atmosphere. The track is designed to the get the dance floor sweating and never lets up. Remixing is Sidney Charles, the German house connoisseur who runs his own Heavy House Society. He strips things back to a more tripped out and garage tinged groove with infectious drums and turbo-bass that makes you want to move.

Luuk Van Dijk Suavo

Finally, Van Dijk offers the dark and paranoid ‘Flangosh’, again with rolling, well programmed drums and slick hi-hats. This time with some industrial, warehouse styled sounds that make it feel raw and naughty.

This massive first EP will lead the way for Dark Side Of The Sun to evolve into a known name in the scene.

Maurice West celebrates another monumental year with ‘EUFORIKA 2000’

Maurice West

At just 23 years of age, rising star Maurice West already boasts an anthology of originals, collaborations and remixes larger and more successful than most.

The Amsterdam native has an unwavering prowess for catchy and anthemic productions, and to round out a career-defining year in the studio, he treats fans to another hedonic addition to his already flourishing discography – ‘EUFORIKA 2000’ is now available via all streaming platforms.

The track opens with an infectious melodic hook that can be heard at various points throughout its three-minute run time, defining its motive with anthemic flare. Repurposing the euphoric riff as a trance-led synth, Maurice builds the intro, adding softer pads before the drop that brings about a change in texture.

After a staple Bigroom build up, the four-to-the-floor chorus drops alongside a pitch-blending synth, galvanised by a driving beat. West then nods to his diverse musical upbringing with a virtuosic guitar-peddled lead synth that takes focus, leading the track to its final drop and chorus.

EUFORIKA 2000’ closes a chapter on the Dutch sensation’s most successful year to date both in the studio and onstage, and comes just two months after his first self-release ‘What The F?!’.

In addition to his many festival appearances this summer, Maurice once again proved his talents in curating an event of his own, as he hosted the second edition of ‘Maurice West & Friends’ during ADE 2019. Producing infectious Bigroom tracks that are powered by melody, West is paving the way for the next generation of Bigroom stars, whilst redefining the genre with purpose.

Sam Feldt teams up with Sigma and Gia Koka on joyous ‘2 Hearts’

sam feldt burak yeter
Sam Feldt

With ‘Post Malone’ proving a huge hit with over 240 million streams to date and being cetified gold in the US and UK, Sam Feldt is on a real roll.

He keeps the momentum going with what promises to be yet another global smash on new feel-good anthem ‘2 Hearts’.

The track sees him team up with UK duo Sigma, the force behind massive tracks like ‘Nobody To Love’ and collaborations with superstars like Take That and Rita Ora. Their anthem-crafting skills are perfectly complemented by the sweet sounds of singer-songwriter Gia Koka. She is the writer behind many big tracks including the global hit ‘Crazy’ by Lost Frequencies & Zonderling, and her contribution here is formidable once again.

From the very first second, you know you’re in Sam Feldt territory as the horns ring out a triumphant tune. The scene suddenly cuts to Gia Koka’s dulcet tones telling a tale of love. Tropical drum fills add flavour as the track swells, with the chorus leading way to those horns in all their glory. Overall the effect is a classic Feldt sound flavoured with some Latin energy. It’s another surefire hit.

Released right at the start of 2020, it’s the most perfectly positive track to get your new year rolling.
