Mother sues Live Nation after her daughter died of overdose at Hard Summer

Event promoter Live Nation has been sued for negligence and wrongful death by the mother of 19-year-old Emily Michelle Tran who passed away after the 2014 festival at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. The coroner said that her daugther died of acute intoxication from Ecstasy.

According to LA Times the lawsuit said that the Beverly Hills company knew, or should have known, that raves like Hard Summer encourage the possession, distribution and consumption of illegal drugs like Ecstasy.

The suit accused Live Nation of being “negligent, careless and reckless,” and having failed to provide adequate security and medical services. It also alleged that the company “knowingly oversold the event and created an atmosphere that was overattended, overcrowded and dangerous.”

The lawsuit also charged that Tran’s transport to the hospital was “negligently delayed.”

“They turned a blind eye to the known risks in order to capitalize on teenagers and young adults, who believed they were attending a safe party environment properly staffed with adequate security services and emergency personnel,” said the lawsuit, filed by lawyer Arthur G. Lesmez on behalf of Tran’s mother, Julie, a resident of Anaheim.

Laidback Luke says DJ Mag’s Top 100 list is “Bullshit” [Details Here]

DJ Laidback Luke says DJ Mag’s Top 100 list is “Bullshit” and simply a “Popularity List That Has Been Hacked”.

His latest post was a reply on his Instagram profile regarding the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll. The Dutch veteran stated that he had never campaigned for his fans to vote for him on the rankings which he called “bullshit.”

Earlier this year, in one of his interviews he said:

“I don’t care about the DJ Mag top 100, getting $200,000 per show, or finishing off the Ultra main stage with a pre-planned show with lights, fireworks, and everything. I’m here to play music. I love this music, I grew up on this music, and I don’t need multi-million dollars for that. I just need a room, a couple decks, [and] happy people.”

Steve Aoki was slated to perform at Norway’s Oslo Sentrum Scene when part of the roof caved in ahead of the show. At least fifteen people were said to be injured, but no fans are in serious condition following the accident.

Among the injured were 13 Norwegians, one French and one German national, police said. It is yet unclear whether Steve was performing when this happened, or if he had yet to come on for his set.

Aoki later addressed the accident via Twitter. “I am saddened and shocked that a piece of the roof collapsed in an accident at the venue in Oslo tonight,” he wrote. “My thoughts are with those injured, and I wish them a speedy recovery.”

Firefighters said a one square metre piece of debris had fallen from the ceiling.
