Charley Young teams up with People of the Parallel to deliver a unique, genre-bending track “Werk”

Today marks the release of “Werk” (audio and music video), the latest collaboration between synth-pop recording artist Charley Young and producer/artist People of the Parallel.

The duo team up to deliver a unique, genre-bending, electronic track that experiments with different sounds, effects, and overall structure. The lead synthesizer of the track is derived straight from Charley’s vocals.

People of the Parallel modulates, reverses, and isolates parts of Charley’s vocals to help create an interesting vocal line while using the breaths in her recordings to punctuate certain sections of the song. Accompanying the song is a music video with captivating visuals to compliment and highlight the dynamic energy of “Werk.”

“‘Werk’ was born (or came to fruition) from the creative genius of People of the Parallel,” Charley explains. “Justin (People of the Parallel) was experimenting with some of my recorded vocals from a previous project and presented the rough draft of ‘Werk’ to me. I was instantly drawn to the track and encouraged him to keep developing and expanding upon what he had already done. Justin always takes my vocals and creates something above and beyond what I could ever imagine.”

Charley Young has performed at notable events and venues such as the TCS NYC Marathon, Webster Hall, and The Bitter End. She has recently been interviewed by Shoutout LA and BSquared Magazine. Her cover of New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle” has just been released by Aztec Records as part of their Pure Synth Covers, Vol. 1 release. As a survivor of anorexia nervosa and as a mental health advocate, Charley strives to make a difference in her listeners’ lives.

Charley states, “My purpose in music is to be a lighthouse in the storm of life.”

Multiple of Charley’s previous music videos have been selected for film festivals around the world including Prague Music Video Awards and The Film Series at Cine Gear Expo. Charley’s music video “Run Away” won Best Music Video at the 2022 ARFF Paris // International Awards as well as Best Producer and Best Music Video at Movie Play International Film Festival and Multi Dimension Independent Film Festival.

Joris Voorn delivers remix of Eelke Kleijn’s ‘Transmission’

Joris Voorn

In the wake of a spectacular and delightfully eventful Amsterdam Dance Event 2022, none other than Joris Voorn has delivered the perfect ADE encore for countless dance music fans.

Already played on major stages such as Awakenings and Tomorrowland ahead of the official release, the Dutch house and techno pioneer’s remix of Eelke Kleijn‘s ‘Transmission‘ only adds to the song’s surging momentum.

“I loved the original version of ‘Transmission’ by Eelke Kleijn”, Joris Voorn says. “It’s such a cool track with a super original melody. I could see it working in a slightly different vibe, so I asked Eelke for the stems to make a version for my own use. People loved it the moment I started playing it, so we decided to give it a proper release. I played my remix all summer this year and it’s been a highlight in my sets for sure. I’m always looking forward to playing it and seeing the crowd’s reaction when everything drops into silence halfway and the melody comes back in. Love it.”

Three albums into a well-established yet still rapidly ascending career, Eelke Kleijn is an artist very much in his element. In the grand scheme of things, he’s an underground artist, but one who has effortlessly made the jump into the wider world when the time and opportunity have felt right.

His remixes for the likes of John Legend, Pendulum and James Newton Howard & Jennifer Lawrence are testament to his ability to reach wider audiences without giving up on his core value, whilst his work scoring Hollywood blockbusters like Batman vs Superman, Rush, Parker and This Means War has been met with great acclaim.

AMF’s 10th anniversary sees performances of electronic dance music’s biggest names in Amsterdam

A selection of the world’s biggest dance music stars took center stage last Saturday at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam for Amsterdam Music Festival – AMF. Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Tiësto, Afrojack and Nicky Romero (II=I) were among those performing at the sold-out event in front of 40.000 fans. AMF streamed all performances live on their own AMF.tv channel in collaboration with TikTok, garnering over hundreds of thousands viewers across all platforms.

AMF has played host to the world’s leading artists for a decade now, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. From veteran acts like Armin van Buuren and Tiësto to the new generation of dance music mainstays Martin Garrix, Afrojack and Nicky Romero. To celebrate this milestone event organizers ALDA and Insomniac turned the ArenA into the biggest nightclub for one night, with a 360 degree stage design including a full motion roof. AMF had something on offer for a wide array of fans, music and show-wise.

As part of AMF‘s special II=I concept, Afrojack and Nicky Romero teamed up for an energetic performance. The two performed their new collaborative track – which will be out on November 4th – for the very first time on stage at AMF. Additionally the two come from the same generation of acts rising up out of the Netherlands, making this back-to-back set even more special.

AMF 2022 lineup

Tiësto also performed in the buzzing Johan Cruijff ArenA. He’s at the top of his game, solidifying his title as one of the world’s most renowned DJ and producers of all time. It’s been a while since he performed in his home country, which resulted in a truly iconic moment during the night.

After Tiësto, Martin Garrix is perhaps the most heard name in dance. The young DJ and producer has been named the best DJ in the world three times since 2016, making him the youngest artist ever to top the list. He played the AMF stage for the last time back in 2015. For this year’s performance the expectations were high, but he delivered and took the crowd along with him on a ninety minute high-energy musical journey.

Just minutes before Armin van Buuren entered the stage, he hosted his very first radio show on Dutch radio station 538. Live from the ArenA he welcomed none other than Mau P, Martin Garrix and Alesso, Afrojack and Nicky Romero in the studio for interviews.

Rounding off the line-up of this year’s AMF are an eclectic bunch of acts, Australian party-starter Timmy Trumpet, German hit-maker Topic and Dutch hardstyle champion Brennan Heart. Topic loosened up the crowd with chart-topping originals Breaking Me and Your Love. After the slew of dance music mega stars Timmy Trumpet and Brennan Heart closed the ArenA in their signature highly energetic styles.
