Check out the full interview below!

1. Hello, Kasia! It’s a pleasure to have you here with us! How are you? What have you been doing lately?

“I am absolutely thrilled with how well things have been going. The past few weeks have been incredibly productive for me in the studio as I focused on creating music. My main objective was to complete a few projects before the summer since I will be relocating to Ibiza for the entire season and embarking on an extensive tour across Europe.

My intention is to delight and surprise my audience with a selection of vibrant and innovative tracks. I am truly excited about the opportunity to share these fresh tunes with them.”

2. Do you remember your first live performance? Where was it and how did it go?

“Absolutely, I vividly recollect my inaugural live performance, which took place approximately 5 to 6 years ago in Los Angeles, where I was based at the time. It was a grand affair hosted in the illustrious Hollywood Hills. As I stepped onto the stage, a mix of nervous anticipation and excitement permeated the atmosphere. Fortunately, I was fortunate enough to have the unwavering support of my friends, and even the esteemed musician Seal, who had been graciously guiding me in music production, graced the event with his presence.

This unwavering support bolstered my confidence, and the performance went remarkably well. It was an unforgettable moment, a perfect blend of memorable circumstances and successful execution that greatly influenced my artistic journey.”

3. “Universal Nation” is out now, can you tell us what inspired you to produce this track?

Creating ‘Universal Nation’ was a truly inspiring journey, especially since it pays homage to the classic track of the same name by the esteemed artist, Push. This track holds a special place in my heart, as I poured a great deal of emotions and an extensive amount of time into its production. I aimed to go beyond the confines of the harder sounds of melodic techno and wanted ‘Universal Nation’ to evoke genuine emotions.

To achieve this, I incorporated a captivating vocal that tells a beautiful story about love. The combination of uplifting beats and heartfelt storytelling allows the track to find its place in the underground club scene while also resonating with those who enjoy music in the comfort of their homes. My intention was to create a piece that not only energizes dancefloors but also touches the hearts of listeners, providing them with a transcendent experience, regardless of their physical location.”

4. Does the song have any specific musical or sonic influences?

“Yes, ‘Universal Nation’ is a product of various musical and sonic influences that emerged from within me during the creative process. Drawing from my deep appreciation for melodic techno and progressive sounds, I explored different textures and atmospheres to shape the track’s unique sonic landscape.

While rooted in melodic techno, I also infused elements inspired by the emotional resonance of trance music, paying tribute to Push’s iconic track ‘Universal Nation.’ This fusion allows ‘Universal Nation’ to capture my individuality as an artist, presenting a harmonious blend of captivating melodies, intricate rhythms, and a euphoric spirit. It’s a reflection of my personal expression and artistic vision, inviting listeners to embark on a journey of emotions and connection.”

5. How would you describe “Universal Nation” to someone who hasn’t heard it yet?

“‘Universal Nation’ is a mesmerizing melodic techno track that takes you on a captivating journey. With its beautiful vocals that will make you want to sing along, the track combines moments of reflection during the breakdown with an uplifting and euphoric harder drop. It seamlessly blends intricate melodies, pulsating rhythms, and a touch of euphoria, creating an immersive musical experience that leaves a lasting impact. Prepare to be transported into a world where you can’t help but move to the infectious energy and find yourself caught up in its enchanting atmosphere.”

6. Whose opinion do you trust the most when producing music?

“When it comes to producing music, I value the opinions of a select group of trusted individuals. I often share my production ideas with a few friends from the industry and consult with my management team to gather their valuable feedback. However, I’ve learned through my own experiences that the most important opinion I need to trust is my own.

I believe in being true to myself and listening to my gut feeling about each production. Ultimately, the music I create is a reflection of my personal journey and the story I want to convey to the audience. It’s vital that it represents me authentically. While external input is valuable, I place a significant emphasis on maintaining artistic integrity and ensuring that my music truly represents who I am as an artist.”

7. Would you like to experiment with new genres in the future?

“Absolutely! I firmly believe in the importance of growth and evolution as an artist. While I am currently deeply enamored with melodic techno, I don’t want to confine myself to a single genre. Just as we grow and change throughout our lives, so too can our musical direction evolve. If there comes a moment when I feel a personal transformation, it is likely that my music will take a different approach as well. I am open to experimenting with new genres and exploring different sonic landscapes in the future. It’s an exciting prospect that allows for artistic exploration and keeps the creative journey fresh and dynamic.”

8. What’s coming next for Kasia?

“Thank you for asking! Currently, I’ve recently made the exciting move from Miami to Ibiza. I’ll be spending the next few months here, immersing myself in the vibrant music scene and allowing the island to inspire new musical influences. I’m thrilled to have a few more releases lined up for this year, and I can’t wait to share them with you all. On a personal level, I’ve been dedicating myself even more to music. I’ve reignited my passion for playing drums, embarked on piano and singing classes, and actively seek ways to delve deeper into myself as an artist. It’s an exciting journey of self-discovery and creative expression that I’m fully embracing.”

9. Can you tell us more about your upcoming show at UNTOLD, one of the world’s best festivals?

“I am beyond excited to return to UNTOLD, one of the world’s best festivals. My experience playing on the Time stage last year was incredible—the production was top-notch, and everyone involved was incredibly kind and friendly. This year, I am thrilled to join an amazing lineup and perform on the Galaxy stage alongside some of my favorite DJs.

I will be showcasing a blend of my own productions, including a lot of new music that I can’t wait to share, combined with energetic techno sounds. The best part is that my set will be broadcasted live and saved on the festival’s YouTube channel, so even if you can’t be there in person, you can still enjoy the experience afterward. Get ready for an unforgettable performance!”

10. What piece of advice would you give to a DJ that’s starting to perform live?

“My advice to any aspiring DJ starting to perform live would be to never give up. If music is what truly brings you happiness, stay committed to your vision and keep pushing forward. Avoid the temptation to copy others and instead focus on cultivating your own unique style. Embrace your creativity and strive to create a sound that is distinctly yours.

Additionally, I highly recommend starting to work on music production if you haven’t already. Developing your production skills will not only enhance your DJ sets but also open up opportunities for self-expression and creative exploration. Remember, perseverance and authenticity are key ingredients on the path to success in the music industry.”

Mark Daisy’s ‘Runaway’ An Impressive Tease To The Upcoming Album ‘Daisyland’

Emanating an ethereal charm that seeps into the consciousness, “Runaway,” the fresh cut from Mark Daisy’s debut album, Daisyland, is nothing short of a symphony for the soul.

With a blend of vibrant melodies and introspective sound design, the track crafts a space where sonic and visual elements dance in harmony.

Mark Daisy‘s artistic prowess shines through in his synergistic work with notable figures such as Nicky Night Time, Noah Schy, and Nate Alford. The result? A sensory explosion that arouses creativity, and a sanctuary of pure joy, with “Runaway” serving as your auditory compass.

Picture this: Daisyland – a utopian landscape thriving with brilliant flower hues and rainbows, where Daisy is accompanied by his quirky troupe of Speaker Creatures. This is the world that “Runaway” unlocks, offering a transcendent voyage aboard the whimsical Daisy-Mobile, powered by bubbles and propelled by music.

Prepare to lose yourself in Daisyland’s melodic embrace – it’s a runaway journey to musical bliss.

Listen to the track below!

Check out the exclusive interview with Mark Daisy below.

How do you envision the evolution of your sound and artistic vision beyond “Runaway”?

This music was always going to be really energetic and playful. Then the world of Daisyland revealed itself as we worked on more and more records for the project. Then along came the Speaker Creatures who came to life in the silliest brainstorm ever with my collaborator Noah Schy (with an assist from my wife Tessa). I’ve loved building the world of Daisyland and am so excited to keep sharing it – and invite others in to play with us along the way.

Runaway felt like the perfect introduction to joy – one that will keep building as we release more records and more of the Daisyland experience.

Are there any specific narratives you want to explore in your upcoming music?

This project is about the joy of being alive. If you can, find moments where you don’t live too seriously. Our toddler says all she wants to do is “Play play play” – I say let’s all go live that life in Daisyland.

“Runaway” and the rest of the music I’ll be releasing is hopefully a reminder to tune into our bodies and get back in touch with our incredible capacity for joy. It’s not about literally running away from stuff – just that we are grownups and still find moments to play play play.

How did working with acclaimed artists influence the direction of Daisyland or “Runaway”?

Working with others is so crucial to the joy of creation for me. I was so lucky to collaborate with so many amazing artists – Noah Schy, Nate Alford, Nicky Nightime, Squid Spelman and the team at Linguni to name a few. They helped clarify the direction of the music. They helped explode the vision of Daisyland and create the whole world this music lives in. They all made my ideas so much better and made the process so much more fun. So much of the creation of this album was play – and I think that really comes through in the music.

Do you have an all time favorite show that you have played?

I haven’t performed as Mark Daisy yet but I did perform on the main stage (playing trumpet and piano) at the Montreaux Jazz Festival – the setting of Montreaux is epic and the energy is absolutely wonderful. And to be on a stage that has hosted such incredible musicians – what an awe-inspiring experience.

Is it easy for you to get into a creative space?

The easiest way for me to access a creative space is by sitting at the piano. I started playing when I was 5 and it is my closest friend. I always know we can do something together. Even if it’s a piano I’ve never met, I know we can immediately hug and begin playing together, making magic together. There are few things in life I enjoy more than time in front of the piano.

What are your ultimate aspirations as a dance artist, and what mark do you hope to leave on the music industry with Daisyland?

My aspirations with Mark Daisy is to bring as much playful joy to as many people as possible – to access that playful side of ourselves that we can lose sight of as the stressors of life weigh us down. Let’s play play play!

Eli & Fur Release Official Remix of Betoko’s Hit Raining Again

Betoko’s 2012 smash hit Raining Again is the gift that just keeps on giving. Internationally recognized as one of the biggest dance music anthems of the last fifteen years, March 2023 saw Berlin-based record label Embassy One launch a pioneering collaboration with music NFT marketplace twelve x twelve to drop a series of high profile remixes, inviting some of electronic music’s biggest artists to reimagine the iconic hit record.

Having inaugurated the series with a string of remixes from Roger Sanchez, Sharam Jey & Bakka and Betoko himself, the Berlin-based collaborators now announce the worldwide release of the fourth and final remix, courtesy of British DJ and producer duo, Eli & Fur. Released as an exclusive digital vinyl/music NFT with twelve x twelve on June 6, the highly sought-after cut now sees its official release on all streaming platforms via Embassy One.

In the age of viral sensations and fast rising superstars, UMEK shines, a testament to hard graft, talent and playing the long game. We’re thrilled to see him on Adam Beyer’s label for his Drumcode debut.

The artist is a pioneer in the true sense of the word, playing a pivotal role in kickstarting the electronic music scene in his native Slovenia, while being an ever-present and impressive fixture on the global techno circuit, having helmed the quality 1605 label since 2008.

His maiden outing on Drumcode, ‘Footmachine‘, comes approximately two decades after first sending Adam Beyer a demo for the label, reinforcing the brick-by-brick mentality needed to build a sustainable career in techno.

The track is a rhythmic peak-time beast, highlighting Time Warp and Exchange in LA in recent times. It also saw the artist experiment with AI to create the heady vocal line. “There’s still a lot of work in the post-production process, but it’s certainly an interesting time when you can make use of these tools,” he shares.

Of his long-awaited Drumcode debut, the techno stalwart says it’s a reminder to always be patient when building a music career. “I first met Adam around 1998 when we played at our legendary club on the coast of Slovenia, Ambasada Gavioli. A little later – approximately 20 years ago I think – I sent him a demo and I never heard back.

You always beat yourself up thinking you have not done something right, which isn’t a good way to deal with rejection. Learn to take advice (if you are lucky enough to get it!) and focus on putting those emotions into your work. I promise when it does happen, it makes it all that much sweeter.”
