Giolì & Assia release new single “Eurydice” ahead of forthcoming album ‘Fire, Hell & Holy Water’

Italian multi instrumentalists, singer/songwriters, DJs and label owner duo Giolì and Assia release the new single and video for “Eurydice” from their forthcoming third studio album, ‘Fire, Hell and Holy Water,’ due out on September 9th via Ultra Records.

Following the release of recent singles “Fire Hell and Holy Water,” “Silence,” “I’ll Be Fine,” and “Playing Chess,” “Eurydice” brings us closer to Giolì and Assia‘s highly anticipated LP release. Through enchanting melodies and imaginative lyricism, “Eurydice” details the tragic love story of mythological Greek characters Orpheus and Eurydice. A delicate addition to their collection of intricate originals, “Eurydice” beautifully pairs Assia‘s ethereal vocals and Giolì‘s dynamic percussion. Captivating from start to finish, “Eurydice” is a true testament to their talents both as songwriters and storytellers.

“‘Eurydice” is undoubtedly the pillar that gives life to the whole concept of the album ‘Fire, Hell and Holy Water;’ where “hell” is a metaphor for depression, The escape from hell to the land of the living represents the journey and the fight against that depression,” Giolì and Assia describe.

“The song is written as if it were Orpheus speaking, and apologizing for turning around and causing Eurydice’s death. Orpheus was willing to walk into the underworld; to burn his skin [in hell] and sing to the Gods, in the name of his love for Eurydice. Musically, the song differs from the genre of other tracks on the album. Here, the sound is sweeter; more melodic and romantic, and intertwines perfectly with the sweetness of the lyrics,” they added.

Alongside the single release today, Giolì & Assia have unveiled a new music video for “Eurydice“, which sees the girls performing the track on a beach illuminated by the moonlight. Their first video available in Sony immersive audio on YouTube, the music video is a refreshing addition to their catalogue, which includes their boundary-pushing video series “#DiesisLive”.

Set for release September 9th on Ultra Records, ‘Fire, Hell and Holy Water‘ is the band’s biggest body of work to date, a 16-track labor of love. Named after a well known local Sicilian saying, the record documents their turbulent and intense highs and lows as a couple, and the health problems and untimely losses of relatives during the pandemic. Referencing a plethora of major sonic influences, the pair cite London Grammar, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Labyrinth’s Euphoria score, U2 and Ludovico Eunaudi as just a few of the many formative inspirations on their landmark forthcoming album.

Around the album launch and tour dates, Giolì & Assia recently launched a contest to win a golden custom G&A handpan, vinyl test pressing, merch capsule, 2 tickets to a headline show, meet & greet and more. Enter to win via the link here.

Shermanology Releases Powerful New ‘Guitarra EP’ On D’EAUPE

Continuing their global footprint, Shermanology delivers the new Guitarra EP on their innovative D’EAUPE imprint. This latest release features two iconic tracks Guitarra and Que te Toca that pronounce their inherent character and reflect upon their Latin roots. Showcasing a blend of Latin and Soul, this loud and proud latin EP is released on September 2nd and is a timely tribute to the original culture and traditional influences of this dynamic duo.

The Guitarra EP sees collaborations with Latino artist Maceo El Perro Blanco and DJ Buddha, an American DJ, record producer and radio personality who has become an integral player in the future expansion of Reggaetón with a string of chart topping hits. This project is a natural extension of the close friendship between these artists and has produced a song we see inspiring dancefloors worldwide.

The lead single Guitarra is an instantly identifiable hit in the making. Complete with rolling bassline and enduring flamenco guitar riff, this is a powerful, chunky and distinct club weapon. Crowned by a unique pitched up vocal it effortlessly hooks the listener and incites immediate dance floor action. The punchy kick cuts through any sound system and precedes an array of shuffling drum patterns that fluidly maintains momentum. Guitarra continually pushes the energy spiraling upwards and fulfills its undeniable capacity as an instant clubland anthem.

Shermanology Guitarra EP

Que te Toca is a tight yet rhythmic Tech House workout with a rumbling low slung bass. Lifted by a succinct vocal delivery that proudly ignites the audience, this tune is considerably deep yet drives an authentic identity. With huge crossover potential from club to radio it actively imparts a resounding musical theme. Here the melody counterplays the exacting lyrics and punctuates the powerful production from Shermanology. From the moment the track drops it is resilient and bold. Que te Toca is a well positioned collaboration that will further place Shermanology on the lips of global tastemakers once again.

With an unshakable reign on dancefloors across the globe, siblings Andy and Dorothy Sherman known as Shermanology love to consistently break the rules. In this release they herald back to their formative Caribbean roots, inviting us to further explore their electrifying identity and expansive colourful world. The pair have garnered monumental support from BBC Radio 1 on every release, whilst performing globally with exhilarating Elrow shows and entertaining global audiences. Leading scene ambassadors continue to champion their sound including Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers (Shermanology releasing on both their labels) alongside their powerful collaboration with Fisher further pushing the brand into orbit.

The act maintains an uncompromising soulful sound with a Tech House edge. This signature ‘soultec’ style has become their trademark Shermanology identity, which has led to growing worldwide success, actively dominating charts and the airwaves. Fluently navigating underground club culture at the same time they have a relentless penchant for rhythm, harmony, and groove throughout every production and show they feature. Shermanology continues to garner new fans and extend their loyal following as they remain at the cutting edge of the scene curating their own distinct sound as they go.

Shermanology comments:

“As kids we were always fascinated by Flamenco Music and we loved listening to Latin singers like La India, Marc Anthony and Luis Minguel. Dorothy used to sing in latin bands and sing backing vocals in ranchera shows. It is part of who we are, so we have been thinking about how we could combine our Latin roots with house music. So we found a Spanish flamenco guitar player & wrote this vocal, it just felt like something that we would love to hear on the dance floor, that’s how ‘Guitarra’ was born.

Dem bow (Reggeaton) was the sound we used to listen to as kids We wanted to make a house track that has the energy of a Dem Bow track but still sounds like a house record, but we didn’t wanna sample vocals, so we hit up our long time friends Maceo & DJ Buddha for some original vocals. DJ Buddha is a well known producer/songwriter in the Latin scene, so what better way to make these worlds collide.”

In the modern dance landscape there is a resounding appetite for the sound of Shermanology and the duo’s unshakable sound. Key industry players are collectively highlighting the importance of producers who set to evolve the scene and Shermanology with their latest Guitarra EP actively promote the past, present and future of clubland whilst shining a light on their roots . Recognized by curaçao and winning the best dance anthem on BBC Radio this year already, Shermanology has a clear vision for the future. It’s time to turn the lights down low, turn up the volume and set to celebrate the ensuing success of this pivotal release.

KH unveils official ‘Looking At Your Pager’ remix by Solomun

In May, Four Tet returned to his KH moniker to release ‘Looking At Your Pager’, his first KH release since 2019’s ‘Only Human’. Sampling 3LW’s 2000 hit ‘No More (Baby I’ma Do Right)’, ‘Looking At Your Pager’ received praise from NPR, Pitchfork, Billboard, The Fader, and more for the unique duality of its modern club-oriented production and throwback R&B sample.

Supported by the likes of Fred again.., Skrillex, Floating Points, Peggy Gou, and more, ‘Looking At Your Pager’ has quickly become one of the most iconic electronic tracks of the year.

Following the success of the original, KH now looks to Bosnian-German DJ and producer Solomun. Solomun’s remix is a mind-blowing hypnotic breakdown of driving kicks and deep bouncing synths.

FLOW MUSIC proudly presents ‘Beyond Sound’, a short film about Berlin’s rich clubbing scene

The short film – Beyond Sound – draws a line between being a DJ and dealing with elementary life setbacks. The German DJs Heimlich Knüller and Madmotormiquel take us through their lives as Producers and DJs in Berlin.

They dive deep into the beginnings of one of the biggest festivals “Fusion” and open the door into Berlin’s famous club culture. Where club culture was born, why festivals influenced the club scene in Berlin and how it feels to grow old in that industry. The portrait was produced right before Coronavirus hit the world.

Beyond Sound is presented by Flow Music. Flow Music, based in Australia, has supported the international electronic music scene from the very beginning as a label, media platform and podcast channel. There is also a close connection to the artist and film-maker Leonie Gerner as well as the film protagonists Heimlich Knüller and Madmotormiquel.

Here’s what Leonie Gerner had to say about Beyond Sound:

“The realization of this film was done in cooperation with a strong team that took a lot of time to make this film what it is. First and foremost Anselm, who was responsible for the editing. With this short portrait, I wanted above all to show the people behind the profession of DJ – without inflating the stories or presenting them as something other than what they are. What does it mean to be a DJ and producer in Berlin – what kind of lifestyle do you enter into, how long can you practice this profession?

When this short film was made, there was no talk of Corona – shortly afterwards, the entire art and cultural landscape went quiet. An interesting look at a time just before the standstill – of which we were not aware at the time. A look through the keyhole of the Berlin night.”

Carlita displays her prolific artistry with announcement of forthcoming Cercle set

Carlita has been turning heads – and for an excellent reason. Now based out of New York City, the Turkish-Italian artist is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist who is part of the underground’s most elite circles. She’s renowned for playing unique stages internationally; from Burning Man to Tesla’s Giga Factory opening and more. This summer, she’s turned up the heat with her project by getting her hands on numerous impressive ventures.

On September 5th, Carlita will be traveling to the mythical Cinecittà Studios in Rome, Italy, to film an esteemed Cercle Set. The Cinecittà Studios, often called “La fabbrica dei sogni” ( “Dream Factory”) will be the backdrop to her performance. Over 3,000 films have been shot at Cinecittà in its 80+ year history and at least 51 of them have won Academy Awards.

The co-sign from Cercle is certainly an admirable accolade for any DJ, and Carlita is thrilled to rise to the occasion and bring her worldly and eclectic sound to the Cercle family.

Earlier this month, her official remix of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s track “See You Again” was released as a part of their ‘SURRENDER REMIXES’ album, alongside remixing artists like Adriatique, Colyn, Dom Dolla, and more. This stamp of support from the Grammy-winning band exposes to her a massive amount of mainstream dance fans, while giving her a noble opportunity to share her artistry far and wide. Her remix can be heard here.

Coinciding with New York Fashion Week, Carlita will present her own multisensory high-fashion concept party called Senza Fine. The party aims to blur the boundaries between genres of music, people, design, and experience – attendees will be immersed in a boundless celebration of the senses through the use of colored haze, lighting, fragrance, and curation of architectural design.

Merging fashion and music, world-renowned creative director, designer, and DJ Heron Preston will be gracing the decks of Senza Fine. Preston gained global recognition when he founded his namesake label in 2016 and has since collaborated with some of fashion’s biggest names, such as Virgil Abloh, Calvin Klein, and BAPE.

Preston is joined by fellow designer and face of YSL Beauty Agathe Mougin, as well as former NBA star turned DJ/producer Rony Seikaly, Dutch brothers Parallels, London’s very own Xander and Fede, Cairo-based Gawdat, and Lisbon’s Cole Trickle. Tickets are available here.

These three moments are just a few of the grand bits coming from the Carlita project now and to come. Watch this space for forthcoming details about Carlita’s upcoming releases – which are impressive, to say the least.

Reinier Zonneveld reigns as Techno royalty after sold out 11 hour Live NOW Festival performance

World-renowned Techno DJ and producer Reinier Zonneveld has completed the inaugural edition of his Live NOW Festival, raising the bar on the techno industry at large with a dominating 11 hour marathon performance.

A legendary show that’s been in the works for years, Live NOW Festival took place at Hembrugterrein on the outskirts of Amsterdam, injecting the beautifully dilapidated grounds with the Dutch techno titan’s spirited sounds.

By playing around the clock with his full personal studio on stage, Reinier Zonneveld highlighted exactly why he sits at the forefront of techno. Over 11 wild hours, fans were treated to everything from nostalgic rave classics to spur of the moment improvisation, lush with vibrant live synth work and moments of blisteringly fast beats.

Here’s what Reinier Zonneveld had to say:

It’s not often I can perform for 11 hours in a row. At a festival, DJs usually only get a one-hour slot, which doesn’t always give me the opportunity to play certain tracks. When you can play for 11 hours, you get the chance to take a full journey through the music.

That’s why I decided to create my own festival experience. I am extremely grateful to everyone who believed in the concept and to all the fans who bought tickets. Live NOW was completely sold out and it was great to pop together with 12,500 visitors.”

With Live NOW Festival now in the rear view mirror, Reinier Zonneveld is taking his sound back on the road, with upcoming dates across Europe, as well as a performances across the US.
