Tell us more about yourself & your music career?

I’m a French DJ and producer living in Phuket Thailand.

How would you describe your style of music?

My DJ sets and productions try to explore all types of House Music: Deep, Organic, Melodic, Classic, Progressive, Latin, Afro, Nu Disco & Tech.

Where do you find inspiration?

I have the chance to live on the top of a mountain, in the middle of Phuket Island, and that’s where I find inspiration just by watching the majestic view and the sunset from my beach club DJ booth.

What is the best time of the day to create?

That would be the morning because I work as a music director at Maya Beach Club during the afternoon and evening.

Who are your musical influences?

World renowned artists such as Be Svendsen, Sebastien Leger, Guy Gerber, &Me, and Black Coffee.

What is your connection with Cafe De Anatolia?

My collaborator Dane Carter and I just signed 2 tracks on the Cafe De Anatolia record label. Their names are “Al Hurub” and “Kas Saghir” and are set for a release next month.

Are you working on something new?

I have around 2000 unfinished projects on my hard drive. These tracks just need to be heard by another producer, and if he finds something interesting we can finish the track together. For me it’s very difficult to finish a track alone, that‘s why I prefer collaborations.

Where and when is your next performance?

I play in Maya Beach Club Phuket every night and every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month I have a radio show on Ibiza Live Radio called “Another Day In Paradise.”

Exclusive Interview with DJ & Producer Deep Tone from Cafe De Anatolia

With his very unique approach to music production and DJing, Lutsenko Konstantin Olegovich better known by his stage name Deep Tone is making an impact in the electronic dance music scene lately. We had the chance to catch up with him and he was happy to answer all of our questions.

Check out the full interview below!

Tell us more about yourself & your music career?

My name is Konstantin, I’ve been producing electronic music for more than 6 years under the pseudonym Deep Tone. My main genres are Deep House and Melodic House, but I also like to produce tracks of other genres too.

I started to write music without any musical education. That was not a problem since my first track ever broke into the music charts in the Deep House genre and was warmly welcomed by listeners. At this moment my first track has more than 100k listens on Spotify. Then I started studying music theory and learning to play piano and electric guitar, which positively influenced my creativity.

For a long time, I was focused on one genre and I released many tracks on different Deep House labels such as Deep Strips Records, KudoZ Records, Impure Deep Recordings, Maniana Records, Deep House Natural, Round Trip Music, etc. Then I started experimenting with other genres of electronic music. I have some oriental tracks, comprised of live ethnic instruments like oud and flute. I also have collaborations with producers and vocalists from different countries, for example, the track “Freedom” was recorded with Spanish vocalist Ruben Gauna. Also, there is a collaboration with my friend and colleague from UK Gus One, and another interesting work with Ersin Ersavas, an excellent oud player from Turkey.

My tracks are played on many radio stations including NSB Radio (UK), Mi-House Radio, and House Radio.

How would you describe your style of music?

I prefer to find a perfect balance between the quality elements of the track (tight kick, deep bass) and beautiful, soul-stirring melodies.

Where do you find inspiration?

In everything. Very often from tracks that I myself listen to a lot and find very cool. Also from old hits.

What is the best time of the day to create?

I can create music at any time of the day, but there’s a certain magic about night time… that gives extra inspiration:)

Who are your musical influences?

There are many such artists in many genres. I can probably single out the pop synth artists of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. They give me the most inspiration with their timeless hits.

What is the most difficult thing about being a musician?

Perhaps it’s learning to be less critical of your own work 🙂

What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

This is probably the release on Cafe De Anatolia. And maybe a performance as one of the headliners at a local summer festival.

What are your latest releases?

It’s the release of my first album with Katya Red called “Vision” and remixes of “Fly” called “Leave Me” and “Every Time”.

What is your connection with Cafe De Anatolia?

My connection with Cafe De Anatolia started with my remix for DJ Phellix & Soudeh’s track  Delom. I wanted to get on this label for a very long time, but only now I dared to offer them my work, considering it suitable for them especially.

What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?

There are none so far. I am concentrating on writing new material.

Do you have any advice for aspiring musicians?

Yes, believe in yourself. And don’t let anyone break your faith in yourself!

Patrick Topping announces ‘Trick Presents Lethal Bangers Vol. 1’

Trick label boss Patrick Topping recruits a host of modern dance music’s most exciting talents for ‘Trick Presents Lethal Bangers Vol. 1’, the imprint’s latest compilation. Showcasing his knack for A&R and keenness on pushing fresh talent, the roster contains numerous first-timers on the label as well as returning fan favorites.

Here’s what Patrick Topping had to say about the compilation:

“To be fair, all these could have been A sides, they are that good! I’m buzzing to unleash these 19 bangers on the world. The variety in sounds is what Trick is all about, but they are all connected with a certain energy and distinction. Obviously, I’m biased, but I do think this compilation is unlike any other VA I’ve heard, and I’m really proud of it.

It’s mainly an eclectic selection of house and techno, but there are a couple of cheeky Makina tunes thrown in at the end, for the craic! It’s the first time Trick’s released Makina music, but the quality of the other 17 house and techno tracks, makes me think there’s the freedom to do so. Hopefully people enjoy them as much as I’ve enjoyed playing them out.”

Catapulting to stardom off the back of hits like Patrick Topping’s ‘Turbo Time’ and Ewan McVicar’s ‘Tell Me Something Good’, Trick is a tour de force, pushing thrilling and uniquely unconventional dance music to widespread acclaim. The label consistently sees rotation on international radio stations, including the likes of BBC Radio 1, with regular support from Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Sarah Story, and plays at clubs and festivals worldwide from Jamie Jones, Denis Sulta, Solomun and many more.

Ellen Allien joins forces with Italian synth wave band Ash Code and shares first single

Photo: Thilo Rückeis

Ellen Allien joins forces with Italian synth wave band Ash Code for a formidable collaborative project. Across three tracks they merge their creative energy to produce the fearsome EP – Dance and Kill.

Bound by their mutual respect for one another, representing the parallels between their current sonic output. Napoli meets Berlin, and cold wave meets techno. Together Ellen Allien and Ash Code build a bridge from cold wave to techno. Across the EP, they demonstrate how much these places and sounds have in common. Synths, basslines, mood, melody and vocals.

Vocals play a key part in Ellen‘s music. She constantly makes her own edits to play out, giving her sets a very unique sound and feeling. These edits also brought her to the attention of many of the bands she loves, including Ash Code. You can hear the influence of this sound on her songwriting and delivery, on albums including ‘Stadkind‘, creating vocals that are dark and mysterious, convey passion and more radical thoughts.

Ash Code, hailing from Italy and formed in 2014, are known for their fusion of post-punk, synthpop and EBM. Ellen Allien is an iconic figure in the techno scene and a visionary heart of Berlin’s electronic community. Ash Code approached Ellen to work on a collaboration together – as she’s well known in cold wave circles for creating her techno edits, last year remixing Lebanon Hanover, and she’s recently played with both bands at Grauzone Festival.

The three track EP represents a perfect marriage of two potent and distinctive sounds, with both acts firing on all cylinders. Across the EP eerie vocal clips, vigorous percussion, stomping bass, distorted vocals, and ominous instrumentation demonstrate the parallels between these sounds. Opening track ‘Dance and Kill‘ embodies this melding of techno and cold wave elements.

Shining On You‘ features Ellen‘s vocals and thunderous drum programming, for a sombre yet irresistibly danceable track. Finally ‘Everything Collapses‘ unleashes vigorous percussion and a snarling low end, lifted by a chorus of supernatural voices.
