Jimmy Pé Brings Back Bloghaus Vibes With Electro-Infused Single ‘Pé Is Not Dead!’

Slovakia raised multi-talent Jimmy Pé debuts his first release of the year with “Pé Is Not Dead!” The hard-hitting, bass-house infused experience is complimented by a fast-paced, grungy music video that embodies explicitness, humor, and so much more all in one go. The cinematic journey Jimmy Pé puts forth is one in which when reaching the 30s mark within the video, you know what’s in store is a ride full of unpredictable surprises.

The single is reminiscent of the bloghaus era of the late 2000’s / early 2010’s, building in production cues that will surely trigger an element of nostalgia for those able to experience the unique era of electronic that was widespread during it’s time.

The story expressed is of two reckless, unhinged killers, who get their fix through taking the lives of victims via their lethally produced music. After successfully accomplishing their goal twice, it is the 3rd potential victim where the story takes an unexpected turn.

Capturing a quasi-Alice In Wonderland-gone-dystopian type of vibe in the theme, the unmerciful and heavy bass-house soundtrack fits right into the motions occurring on-screen.

Sonically, “Pé Is Not Dead!” fires off on all cylinders. Embracing a ‘less is more,’ direction in the design of the production. The piercing tech-house drum work blending in with wubs and wobbles feels as if they are popping out of the speakers. This combination delivers a powerful, gritty disposition as euphoric as it is infectious.

Jimmy Pé has been creating music for well over 10 years, his catalog thick with a diverse blend of Albums, EP’s and singles which all showcase his artist development and direction over an extensive period of time.

The enigma of Komory lets you in on their ‘Secrets’ of dance music chill

Either let ‘Secrets’ occupy the space around you, or dive into its lustrous vision cruising on a cloud. Like an application of sweet-smelling aftersun when the need to cool off takes over, Komory’s EDM-scented chillout on Be Yourself Music mixes up long synth streaks with passages of playful, twittering keys.

The follow-up to ‘Complicated’ bursts into colour before starting over from the end of the rainbow, acting cheeky, coy, confident and encouraging, and forwarding plenty of eyes-across-the-room groove within the calm.

The name Komory originates from the Japanese term ‘Hikikomori’, describing the act of withdrawing from social engagement and where adults seek intense degrees of isolation and confinement. This might sound like no accident given the events of the last few years, but Komory strongly believe this type of self-imposed segregation is a fundamental driving force behind their creative process and hence signature sound.

With cards kept close to their chest as they let the music speak for itself, Komory’s fusion of electronic, futuristic and melodic arts and inspirations have made them hot property. All chrome-finished R&B, neon-lit EDM, AI technology and minimalism shouting the loudest when it comes to tropical blooms, Komory offer a visual complement alongside what they describe as “the next generation of music performance”.

Their ethos may speak for the secluded and titles such as ‘Complicated’ and ‘Secrets’ indicate deeper thought processes, but Komory also understand the need for instant enjoyment, their synthetic sentiments in tune with today’s audiences that are all about the here and now as much as they sound primed for and from the future.

Closing out the US tour, Defected’s final stop is The Concourse Project in Austin, a mammoth space with world-class production capabilities.

Defected’s growing fanbase in South America demonstrates the fully global appetite for the label and clubbing brand. Heading to Brazil’s biggest city for the first night, Defected will take over Sāo Paolo’s ARCA, a 6.4k capacity venue in the heart of the city. The following night Defected heads to Green Valley in Camboriú, a five-time winner of DJ Mag’s Best Club Award. Located in the heart of the Brazilian jungle and a truly unique clubbing experience often described to be closer to that of a festival, Green Valley has been an unmatched success story in the Brazilian electronic scene.

Demonstrating the breadth of talent across the Defected roster, the North and South America tour showcase talent from both sides of the pond, bringing European names such as Polish house heavyweights Catz ‘n Dogz, the Netherlands’ man-of-the-moment Ferreck Dawn, Spanish mainstay David Penn and huge UK names like Gorgon City, Sam Divine, and Melé. Legendary Canadian selector A-Trak also joins the tour alongside homegrown US talent such techno pioneer Robert Hood’s joint venture with daughter Lyric Floorplan, rising star LP Giobbi and Beatport’s #1 selling artist John Summit. Finally, repping Brazil is established DJ and producer Ashibah and rising star Aline Rocha.

Bedouin rework tracks by Ukraine’s DakhaBrakha for the latest release on Human By Default

DakhaBrakha is a quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine, experimenting with Ukrainian folk music since the group’s inception in 2004, combining an array of instruments from around the world with powerful and uncompromising vocal performances.

For Bedouin’s first release of the New Year on their ever-impressive Human By Default imprint, the label heads rework four tracks from DakhaBrakha’s catalogue, fusing the captivating vocals and instrumentation of the quartet with their pitch-perfect production.

Leading the A-side is their reinterpretation of ‘Salgir Boyu’, with shuffling percussion and organic loops providing the backdrop for stunning elements of the original to shine.

The rework of ‘A Doshchuk Nakrapaye’ follows, with DakhaBrakha’s vocals fading in and out of the background as Bedouin’s gentle synthesis and evolving drums carry the track.

On the flip, ‘Svyryd’ sees hypnotic drones and bright shakers evolve alongside a rolling bassline before closer ‘Yahudky’ seeks more electronic territories, bringing tense strings and unfurling synths together to see out the release.
