SXM Festival announces more names for its 2022 edition

SXM Festival has announced the phase two lineup for its highly-anticipated return to the Caribbean island of Saint Martin / Sint Maarten. From March 9-13, the destination experience will give attendees the chance to witness many of the top names in the underground techno and house scene in one of the world’s most beautiful and culturally diverse island locales.

Since its debut back in 2016, SXM Festival has remained focused on booking lineups that showcase a mix of legendary names and emerging acts alike from far-reaching corners of the globe. Some of clubland’s most celebrated selectors and live acts descend on Saint Martin / Sint Maarten annually to play for one of the most loyal and engaged communities of music fans and global party nomads in the world. The result is a breeding ground for musical experimentation and discovery eclipsed only by the beauty of the festival’s host location.

With its phase two lineup, SXM Festival has announced a new group of top-tier talent featuring Music On leader Marco Carola, Flying Circus’ Audiofly, Diynamic icon Magdalena, and a live performance from Afterlife stand out Innellea. Attendees can also look forward to sets from Afro House favorite Layla Benitez, Swiss house music maestro Jimi Jules, co-founder of the Common Sense People event series Konstantin Sibold, and more.

This adds to a phase one lineup featuring the famed zeitgeist of Chilean-born minimal icon Ricardo Villalobos, Innervisions co-founders Âme, the legendary Dubfire, Canadian favorite Blond:ish, live performance extraordinaire Jan Blomqvist, and Life and Death label boss Dj Tennis. Other highlights included veteran German producer Steve Bug, multi-instrumentalist Chloé Caillet, Copenhagen live trio WhoMadeWho, Israeli star Chaim, Grammy-nominated producer Danny Tenaglia, and many more favorites from around the world.

For the 2022 edition, the event will continue to build upon its deep connection with the cultural and ecological fabric of the beautiful host locale of Saint Martin / Sint Maarten. Spawned in 2019 to help encourage the prosperity and health of the island following the devastating Hurricane Irma, SXM Festival created a partnership with SXM DOET.

SXM DOET is the islands’ largest volunteer event, funded by Oranje Fonds, executed by Be The Change Foundation, with the help of hundreds of volunteers. 98 community projects are registered this year. Persons can learn more and sign up to volunteer via: www.sxmdoet.com. In support, SXM Festival will encourage their party-goers to volunteer and take part in this community event. The Festival team will also provide tickets to SXM DOET to help promote their projects through raffles and reward volunteers.

Another initiative focused on the local culture of Saint Martin / Sint Maarten is a musical project featuring Isadore “Mighty Dow” York and his Ebony Steel Orchestra. The group has been rehearsing tracks that combine techno with traditional steel pan sounds. These songs will then be released online with profits going back to the local schools to help with the needs of kids in the area.

Attendees are also encouraged to take a break from the party and meet the locals and other travelers, while offering their service to the island at specific, sponsored projects. Past projects have included beach cleanups, playground builds, and basketball court maintenance, with this year’s charitable action initiatives to be announced in the months to come.

SXM Festival is also dedicated to leaving a smaller footprint and helping replenish natural environments. With initiatives that include going paperless, saving energy with LED and solar lights, and eliminating plastic waste throughout the festival, it is the mission of SXM Festival to become increasingly sustainable throughout their growth.

This includes their work with the Saint-Martin based company VERDE SXM. Through this partnership, the festival will have 100% of its waste transformed and recycled. The festival also has a no trace policy: every venue is transformed to be more beautiful at the end of each event.

At SXM Festival, attendees of the 5-day and 5-night tropical dance music escape will find themselves effortlessly navigating secluded beaches, lush jungle dancefloors, stunning villas, boat parties, and beach clubs – from sunrise to sunset. This unique party format is what sets SXM Festival apart from other destination festivals, guiding attendees through an eclectic mix of music, culture, and travel throughout their time in paradise.

Guests can experience their favorite house and techno artists at a variety of unique venues filled with mesmerising decor. Any SXM Festival devotées will tell you tales of the event’s beating heart, Happy Bay. The secluded private beach nestled in the jungle serves as the main evening venue for SXM Festival and is home to the iconic Arc Main stage and the immersive Ocean stage.

Other highlights include Boho Beach Cub, the perfect place to chill out and escape during the day, along with Karakter, which overlooks the Caribbean sea and provides a spectacular view of aircrafts coming in for landing at SXM Airport and is the perfect place to catch a sunset.

Awakenings Summer Festival reveals full lineup for 2022

This year, from the 29th until the 31st of July, Awakenings will descend upon Hilvarenbeek for the celebratory debut edition of the Awakenings Summer Festival: a three day techno weekender, including campsite.

Today the techno powerhouse is revealing the full lineup consisting of 131 acts, spread out over three days of pounding beats at the brand-new festival site in Hilvarenbeek.

For every event Awakenings manages to come up with the biggest and boldest lineup a techno lover can imagine, and this time around will be no different. Awakenings has prided itself in booking diverse and encompassing lineups and this time around will be no different. Aside from the regular heavy hitters like Charlotte de Witte, Adam Beyer and Richie Hawtin, a slew of rising talent will be making their way down to Hilvarenbeek. No less than 27 acts on the line-up are slated to debut at Awakenings Summer Festival this year. Among them are Call Super and Bambounou, mainstays in the alternative club-scene for years.

Other notable names on the lineup are local talents Philou Louzolo and Nicky Elisabeth, international upcoming acts Hector Oaks and Adiel as well as global mainstays who will be making their Awakenings debut such as Skream and Denis Sulta. Once again Awakenings is putting themselves in the unique position of booking a highly progressive lineup for one of the world’s biggest techno events.

“After two years of absence, we cannot wait to be back in the field again. This year we will celebrate our 25th anniversary with a completely new festival with a camping site and three days of music with many familiar and new faces. We never had so many debuts on one event. It feels like we are getting ready for the next 25 years” says Michiel Tettero, music director of Awakenings.

Awakenings Summer Festival is the culmination of a quarter century worth of pioneering techno events, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Awakenings. Pundits can expect a festival with the typical top-quality production with added elements in order to honour the special occasion. More artists, more stages and more days of partying open up doors for a truly next-level Awakenings experience. Techno-lovers can travel to Hilvarenbeek during the last weekend of July from far and wide, with the possibility of staying at the camping site or one of the many other types of accommodation offered on site.

Weekend tickets for Awakenings Summer Festival will go on sale in multiple phases. Starting on February 17th for people who are in possession of a voucher due to a previously cancelled Awakenings event. On the 24th of February, everyone that hasn’t a voucher but who has pre-registered (which is still possible until February 17 midnight via the Awakenings website) will have access to the ticket sales and finally on March 1st any remaining tickets will become available to the general public. Single day tickets will go on sale later on this year.

Sam Shure releases his brand new EP ‘Malfunction’ on Stil vor Talent

A true driving force of the Stil vor Talent fold since the landing of his debut EP “Nandoo” in 2018, Sam Shure has cemented his position as one of today’s finest names when it comes to shape shifting , polyamorous soundscapes.

Using his background in traditional music to take club music into unheard directions, Sam keeps carving out a lane of his own, and his newest four-track delivery for Stil vor Talent – “Malfunction” – proves a new tour de force in his quest for time and space-transcending material.

Merging middle-eastern melodic tropes with the most cutting-edge arsenal of circuit-driven chatter, the title-track pulls out an infectious metronomic swagger adorned with EBM-friendly cascades of shimmering bleeps and raging drums that keep on swelling as bars fly by.

Doped on fly, chiselled breaks and a fractalised sound design rife with fractured vocal samples, “Permutation” flings us in a furnace of flash-flowing, mangled synth ellipses and bone-bruising bass moves that’ll have you hard-pressed to find your way back to the surface.

Not one to crank it down one inch for real, “Attenuator” does the very opposite of its name, except perhaps for its more understated, deep-end-friendly approach. Going the dubbier way, this one finds Shure boasting the width of his skills and ever-sharp knack for cutting riveting slabs of pared-down psychedelia.

Topping it off, “Sopra il Mondo (featuring Francesca Siano)” is a straightforward roller tinged with Shure‘s broad palette of jazzy inflections, Latin neo-classicism and oriental harmonics. A correspondingly ambitious and inspired closer to a new master stroke from an artist in full possession of his art.

Rich Furniss makes Quincy Boy Records debut with soulful house single ‘Suddenly’

Rich Furniss kicks off 2022 with his first original debut of the year via “Suddenly,” the release has been signed to Quincy Boy Records, becoming yet another milestone for the DJ/producer who has been a roll since launching this alias in late 2021.

“Suddenly,” pays homage to the golden era of classic house, bringing this theme up to speed with a modern house feel via the sound design and overall temperament within. The seducing vocal topline ignites the spirit of the listener with a soothing, therapeutic effect. Synced up with this euphoric component is the smooth percussion and upbeat melodies that support the vocal centerpiece.

Hypnotic, rhythmic, and true to the roots of what house music is all about, “Suddenly,” is another righteous notch on the belt of the eclectic and talented electronic artist Rich Furniss. Taking the excitement a step further, the single will be a part of the first compilation from Quincy Boy Records, titled Friends And Family Vol. 1.

Rich Furniss remains an advocate in his community for local New York artists through his YouTube channel, MoTV, which has now hit the 20K subscriber milestone. His performances and grassroots efforts have a lasting effect on listeners. Krysta Youngs Drops Meaningful Message In Music Video For ‘Mental Breakdown’

Krysta Youngs has accomplished more in a year than most artists do in a lifetime. From songwriting with some of the biggest names in the world to releasing records signed to Spinnin’, Armada, Lowly, Sony Trap City, Dim Mak, and the like. “Mental Breakdown,” is her next venture and comes paired with a stunning music video with a deeply meaningful takeaway.

Mental health has been a growing topic of discussion in the music industry, “Mental Breakdown,” brings it back into the limelight, with a relatable, personified perspective thanks to the talents and creative direction of Krysta Youngs. The lyrics articulate an inner monolog of sorts, tumbling thoughts about a past relationship that’s tough to let go of leading to second guessing, mood swings, and unorthodox behavior. As the lyrics unfold measure by measure, Youngs goes from a bed-riddin depression to a spree of excitement, to then again ending up right back under the covers as the song comes to a close – burdened by an inescapable mental anxiety.

Accompanying the visual aspect is Youngs’ sonic paradise of production aesthetics that pull together tropical-inspired percussion, an upbeat mood via major chord progressions, and smooth vocal chops in the drop that help a modern electronic feel breathe. Layered on the instrumental is the catchy topline of Krysta Youngs herself who boasts an impressive vocal range.

“Mental Breakdown,” symbolizes what millions of regular people can go through when failures fall on their lap or things just don’t go as we thought they would. Without a mental protocol to handle the fall out, we can find ourselves spiraling, connected with a feeling that there’s no way out of the bottomless pit.

The silver lining Youngs shares is that though media and societal perceptions can give an impression that everyone is living their best life 100% of the time, “Mental Breakdown” depicts that, in reality, most people go through episodes of negative emotions that they just can’t help. Some worse than others, but it happens to us all.

“Mental Breakdown” puts an artistic spin on an uncomfortable corner of human nature, ironically, yet refreshingly letting the viewer know it will be OK in the end – which is a statement of fact.

For the first time in its history, elrow Town lands in Madrid

First, it was Amsterdam and London… and now, elrow Town announces a new location. This time it is celebrated in Spain, exactly in the capital.

After two years without festivals and for the first time in Spain, a new version of elrow, the most significant, most spectacular, most fun and crazy, for more than 25,000 thousand attendees, will land at Espacio Mad Cool —Ifema Valdebebas— on Friday April 15, coinciding with Easter Week.

“After two tough seasons, we finally meet again to celebrate the return to life in the best possible way. Together. Delivering our greatest show ever, in Spain,” says Juan Arnau.

elrow is known for its colourful and eye-catching production, and the organizers state that the new location will allow “more ambitious staging, a heart-stopping line-up, different scenarios with extravagant themes, performance, theatre, art and different activities that will mark a before and an after in the history of elrow in Spain“.

The organizers of the elrow brand, known for their large immersive and elaborate productions, say that after years of searching, they have finally found the perfect location. And this is none other than the capital of Madrid. In the centre of Spain, the site will allow all fans to travel from any point in the country within a maximum of 3-4 hours.

The line-up has yet to be revealed, although more than 30 DJs will attend, with a musical focus on house, techno and disco.

EPIZODE announces dates and location for its second edition in Albania
