Jacob Colon strikes back with yet another banger. This time, he releases ‘Open Gates’ through his own imprint ‘Made To Move’. The producer and DJ keeps showing off his skills and talent with his consistent stream of hard-hitting releases that get the attention of listeners all over the world.

His characteristic sound that mixes elements from world music with energetic beats and his own flavor makes a clear appearance in this new track ‘Open Gates’. While this new release sees the light, Jacob Colon has kept busy producing top-quality music and curating remarkable mixes for his weekly radio show ‘Made To Move’, that is currently close to reaching its 100th episode. He now presents ‘Open Gates’ as his latest masterful production.

The track opens up with a middle eastern motif that repeats all over the track, the same influence can be heard in the vocals. ‘Open Gates’ showcase playful synths and intense risers, with an energetic beat that keeps a pleasant steady pace. An oriental melody performed by female vocals drops the track to a mix of interesting sounds and sonic layers, that range between orchestral pads, flutes, voices and textural pads; this track takes the listener to a trip to foreign lands where the party never stops.

Jacob Colon is a driving force that consistently raises his own bar when it comes to releasing powerful bangers that make an impact in the Dance music world, keeping his name relevant as an innovative and uncompromising talent.

Armin van Buuren announces album trilogy and kicks off part 1 with new single: ‘Feel Again’

Less than a week before the launch of his ‘This Is Me – Feel Again’ shows in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, five-time #1 DJ in the world Armin van Buuren is announcing a brand-new, three-part album series and kicking off the upcoming Part 1 with the release of a brand-new single. In unison with the series of early-June live performances, the ‘Feel Again’ album trilogy focusses on re-stablishing the connection to and between friends, family and fans, as perfectly illustrated by title track ‘Feel Again’ (feat. Wrabel).

The theme song of Armin van Buuren‘s ‘This Is Me – Feel Again‘ shows, ‘Feel Again‘ captures the aftermath of a wasted love and the overwhelming numbness it causes. Helmed by heartfelt lyrics, Wrabel‘s soaring vocals and a strong production that fuels the desire to regain what was lost, this anthem will give listeners goosebumps all over every time it’s played.

Set for release on June 10 as the inaugural installment of the album trilogy, ‘Feel Again, Part 1’ sees Armin van Buuren move further along the road of stylistic exploration and artistic growth after previous albums ‘Embrace‘ (2015) and ‘Balance‘ (2019). Including new productions such as ‘Let You Down‘, ‘Oumuamua‘, ‘Pass de Bourre’, ‘One More Time’ and the aforementioned ‘Feel Again‘ as well as known favorites such as ‘Come Around Again’ and ‘Offshore’, the album means to reawaken the feeling of togetherness and urges listeners to live in the here and now. Part 2 and Part 3 of the series are expected to be released in, respectively, the fall of 2022 and the opening months of 2023.

With over 60.000 tickets sold between the five shows that will be held between June 2 and June 5, ‘This Is Me – Feel Again‘ in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam is among the biggest solo shows Armin van Buuren has hosted throughout his illustrious career. Initially programmed for 2019 until the global COVID pandemic thwarted the initial plans, the shows have been updated in the past two years to mirror the Dutchman’s artistic growth and give his fans even more of an expectation-shattering experience.

I’m really excited to announce my upcoming ‘Feel Again’ album series”, Armin van Buuren says.

“The past couple of years have been particularly trying for everyone, and I feel it’s time to not only bring my fans together on dance floors again, but also to show the lessons I’ve learned throughout my career and in the past two years in particular. I hope this album trilogy will inspire listeners to come together, seize the moment and, above all else, feel again.

Gladkill Reveals 5-Track Wave-Laced ‘Cold Comfort’ EP on vibe.digital Records

Seasoned DJ/producer Gladkill has brought forth a 5-track laced Cold Comfort EP laced with wave-influences throughout. The electronic musician is well-versed in a wide pallet of genres – a claim which his thick streaming catalog easily proves – yet he’s decided to go all in with one theme for his vibe.digital release Cold Comfort EP.

Across the 5 singles, there is a dynamic blend of moods delivering a feeling where you are being taken on a journey. Yet even though each song has individualistic qualities allowing it to stand out, an undeniable arc ties the EP together.

Diving in “Words Inside,” fires of the experience with a gradual fade in. The energy level continues to pick up as the track progresses, an eased drop hitting right around the 1-minute mark. The moment sets the tone of what’s to come with this EP, groove, rhythm, and emotion being some of the forefront components making this sonic adventure shred.

Title track “Cold Comfort,” follows, showcasing a more settled disposition and slower pace. An introverted energy is inescapable here as the sprinkled hi-hats, smooth basslines, and echo-infused vocal samples all help drive a mood that’s unforgettable. Not trying to impress with antics like massive build ups or over-produced verses, “Cold Comfort,” puts it all out there in an easy-to-digest manner.

The Way You Like,” building anticipation from the very first moments. Gladkill lets you have the meat and bones of this vibe when the moment is right. A powerful slurred synth captures the limelight while electric melodies and intricate arpeggios scoop up the imagination and take the listener to a special place. Seamlessly segueing from one measure to the next, “The Way You Like,” is a chill ride through and through.

Waterways,” is one of the heaviest and hardest hitting singles across the EP spectrum. Slightly poppy and bringing a bit of wub action to help showcase a nice slap with this tune, a trippy mood is deeply embedded into this one. Containing festival-ready influences and a powerful attitude, “Waterways,” is an exciting corner of what Cold Comfort EP has to offer.

Closing out Gladkill’s release is “Fragile.” Pulling design elements heard from the previous 4 tracks, there’s an even-keeled sensibility to what “Fragile,” articulates. Not the darkest or the most uplifting single of the bunch, it falls into a middle ground that catches the listener off-guard with its sedating nature. Reflective and thought-provoking, it’s hard not to look back on what was just heard while this final earworm hits your consciousness.

PAROOKAVILLE completes its spectacular 2022 line-up

This coming July 22nd to 24th brings the sixth edition of Germany’s largest Electronic Music Festival to Weeze Airport with an unprecedented bandwidth of global stars and musical best-kept secrets. With the two new headliners Alan Walker and W&W, the world premiere of the Back2Back performance by Yellow Claw x Brennan Heart and more than 100 additional new acts, this is the biggest PAROOKAVILLE artist announcement of the year.

PAROOKAVILLE’s itinerary has been a central key to the success of this beloved festival since it began. In the extraordinarily unique PAROOKAVILLE cityscape, the festival’s Citizens once again have the opportunity to experience over 300 different acts from every electronic music genre on more than 10 stages, each perfectly designed to accommodate the sound. In front of the gigantic Mainstage, equipped with fireworks and a laser and LED show, there’s space for up to 35,000 Citizens at once.

And it’s here that British-Norwegian DJ and producer Alan Walker will perform as the headliner on the festival Sunday. His 2015 mega-hit “Faded” catapulted Alan to the top of the charts in over 15 different countries. With a jaw-dropping 26 million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than one billion streams of the single “Faded”, Alan Walker is one of the biggest DJs in the world. In July, all of PAROOKAVILLE’s Citizens will finally have the
chance again to experience Alan Walker live in the City of Dreams.

With W&W, the Saturday sees the return of two more genuine DJ superstars to PAROOKAVILLE. The two Dutchmen Willem and Ward are known above all for using their unique sound comprised of Trance, Electro and Progressive House to create iconic live shows. Their crowd control sandstorm at PAROOKAVILLE 2018 remains unforgotten and unforgettable. This year they return on Saturday as the Mainstage headliner, while their label Rave Culture will host the Desert Valley Stage at the Pre-Party on the preceding Thursday.

Friday is also set to welcome a major world premiere on the Mainstage with the exclusive Back2Back performance of the two top electronic acts Yellow Claw x Brennan Heart! They may indeed come from different musical genres, but they’re united by their long friendship and loyal support of PAROOKAVILLE. The City of Dreams is the perfect location for Mr. I Am Hardstyle Brennan Heart and the boys from Yellow Claw, celebrated for their Trap, Hip-Hop and Electro House Beats, to perform together for the first time.

Sunday at Bill’s Factory, PAROOKAVILLE’s iconic second open-air stage, truly brings the broad musical spectrum of the festival’s programme into focus. The absolutely loony lads from Electric Callboy are set to raise the Citizens’ temperature with their eardrum-piercing Metalbeats on the festival’s third day. Their current “Hypa Hypa European Tour” is already completely sold-out. Recently their fans collected over 100,000 signatures for a petition to bring the boys to ESC in Turin. While that didn’t work out in the end, their show at PAROOKAVILLE on the festival Sunday is guaranteed.

More exciting new announcements for the Gerne Stages

Öwnboss and DJ Sevek are presently on a trajectory to have THE 2022 festival hymn with their song “Move Your Body”. Averaging 600,000 Spotify streams per day and having already garnered over 72 million streams, the current mega-hit by these two Brazilian DJs is of course perfect for a power workout, but it’s also ideal to dance-till-you-drop on the Sunday in front of the Time Lab Stage. Get hyped up with Öwnboss! Australian DJ Luude’s new reworking of the 80s classic “Down Under“ by Men At Work has already given him a top hit this year. Joining forces with guest-of-honour and the song’s original singer Colin Hay, Luude has wrapped the song in a big-phat Drum’n‘ Bass package, transforming the number into a modern summer hit with a distinct retro vibe.

The festival Sunday offers the City of Dreams’ Citizens the chance at the Time Lab to celebrate lunacy, love and pure joy to the soundtrack of his Trap and Drum’n‘Bass sounds. For Hugel, the Bacardí Stage is the place to be on Thursday! Over the last few years the French DJ and producer has racked up a variety of big hits, including “WTF” (feat. Amber Van Day) and the Platinum-winning remix of “Bella Ciao” from 2018. Among his releases this year is the dance single “Castle” in conjunction with Alle Farben and FAST BOY, yet another milestone for PAROOKAVILLE’s Citizens to celebrate in July.

The line-up of the insanely popular Brainwash-Stage and special acts for the other stages will also be announced soon! PAROOKAVILLE Visas are hot property – and there’s still the chance at the moment to get yours and be a part of the world’s craziest festival city this coming July! All available Visas at the link.

5 UK Dance festivals to attend in 2022

Let’s be real, over the past two years we probably haven’t attended anywhere near the number of events we wanted to. COVID cancelled half of them and postponed the rest. We had to sit inside trying to entertain ourselves by half-heartedly picking up new hobbies, baking banana bread, and drinking cans in the garden in those few days of sun. It wasn’t all bad, but we’d have much rather had been in a field, living it large with our mates with some tunes blaring.

Sadly, we can’t change the past. But we can choose what we do with our futures. Instead of sitting on the sofa next year, why don’t we get out and make up for that lost time? The UK is packed with festivals that are begging us to get over to and cut some shapes with some friendly strangers and a pint in hand. We know you want to. So here are five UK festivals you should attend in 2022 if you love dance music.

Dream Valley, Kent, England

This new dance music festival will burst on the scene in May next year with 100 dance music artists that will blow you away. The lineup already includes legendary duo Basement Jaxx, Roger Sanchez, Marco Carola, East End Dubs, George Mensah, Rossi, and many more.

But that’s not all. As well as featuring 100 unreal artists, the fest will also have an outdoor cinema, a roller disco, immersive art, wellbeing workshops and so much more. Dream Valley isn’t your typical music festival. It’s an immersive experience with tonnes of unreal artists, workshops, and fun activities to get stuck into. It’s a pity it’s only one day!

Terminal V, Edinburgh, Scotland

Another festival we wish was longer than a day is Edinburgh’s Terminal V. Oh, wait. Next year it will be! In April, 40,000 electronic music fans will find themselves in a warehouse complex grooving to the likes of Alan Fitzpatrick, Dax J, Floorplan, Amelie Lens, I Hate Models, Ben UFO and others for two whole days of straight tunes.

Starting in 2017, the festival is still quite new in comparison to others. But it’s already become Scotland’s biggest electronic music festival with some of the world’s biggest artists travelling to perform at such an explosive, rapidly-growing event. The fest is already insane, but we can’t wait to see the beast this festival will become in a few years.

via Gill Nightingale

Creamfields South, Chelmsford, England

If you know anything about UK festivals, especially dance festivals, Creamfields needs no introduction. It’s one of the biggest festivals in the world and to celebrate its 25th anniversary, Creamfields South will put on a two-day sister festival down in Hylands Park.

It’s early days but the fest has already announced some huge names including David Guetta, Deadmau5, Fatboy Slim, Camelphat, Becky Hill, Amelie Lens and more. With such a brilliant lineup, more artists to be announced, and the massive success of the Cheshire-based Creamfields, we know this festival will be unreal and sell out in a heartbeat.

Life Festival, Westmeath, Ireland

If you haven’t heard of Life, the simplest way to describe it would be a smaller, Irish version of Glastonbury but with a focus on electronic music. Branching out further than just music, the festival has art activities, performers such as fire breathers, magicians and jugglers, yoga workshops, reiki, and even a massage area.

And there’s a reason it bears so many similarities to Glastonbury – it originated from Glastonbury’s Glade arena. It became its own festival in 2004 and since then it’s gone on to become one of, if not the best, electronic music events in Ireland. How could you turn that down?

Field Day, London, England

In London’s Victoria Park, Field Day festival will be going off with The Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Cici, Daniel Avery and more. The festival is put together by clubs and promoters from around London’s music scene to gather the best up and coming acts alongside international heavyweights for an unbelievable day of banging tunes.

With both DJ sets and live performances, the festival boasts various genres including, but not limited to, techno, house, and hip hop. Every single year, starting from its inception in 2007, has seen the festival sell all its tickets. And fast. So if you’re considering this hot festival in England’s capital, get on it fast before it’s too late!

After what feels like forever in lockdown, it’s time we all got back out there properly and danced ‘til we’re drenched in sweat with legs that feel like jelly, but with that warming glow of joy and contentment after a cracking festival. 2022 has some seriously brilliant festivals lined up, but these five should definitely be on your radar.

Can’t wait for festival season? Looking for the next festival that’ll blow you away? Check out all the festivals that will be popping off in 2022.
