hard summer death

HARD Summer is traversing the Atlantic Ocean to a new holiday home for a premier destination event in Europe this summer.

On 6 August 2022, Calvin Harris will make his long-awaited return to Croatia for a headline show at Žnjan Beach, in Split. An idyllic combination of sun, sea and dance music, the event is set to prove to be one of the most unmissable beach parties on the dance music calendar this year.

Multi-platinum selling artist, heavyweight producer, DJ and songwriter Calvin Harris has topped the charts across the globe with his many hits, amassing 27 top 10 singles in the UK alone.

Fans can expect to hear these massive tunes amongst an arsenal of exhilarating dance music from the powerhouse DJ/producer at this one-night-only special event.

HARD Summer Croatia

For many years, HARD Summer has been a staple of the California festival scene since its inaugural edition in 2007. While the event now holds a sparkling reputation as one of the edgiest events on the West Coast of America, the brand has recently expressed even bolder international intentions.

HARD now aims to expand its diverse, technicolour-clad fan-base by coming together to celebrate electronic music on Croatian soil. Calvin Harris stands as the figurehead for modern dance music, having broken world records and dominated the charts.

He has over 35 billion combined audio and video streams in his career history, making him one of the most viewed artists on YouTube and one of Sony Music’s biggest streaming artists.

Calvin has collaborated with global artists including Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott to name a few. His work has garnered a number of top music awards and nominations, including 14x MTV VMA nominations and 2x wins, 5x GRAMMY nominations and a 2013 GRAMMY Award win in the Best Music Video category for “We Found Love“.

Fans will be able to experience HARD Summer EU in a number of different ways on 6 August, with General Admission, VIP and VIP Table Service options on offer at the expansive beach site.

Pre-Sale tickets go on sale Wednesday 4 May (12 PM CEST) before General Sale commences the following day on Thursday 5 May (12 PM CEST). Those interested in attending can register their interest and find additional ticket information on the event website, which can be found here.

Charlotte de Witte celebrates her new “Universal Consciousness” EP with ‘New Form’ V: live stream

Charlotte de Witte takes charge of her KNTXT label’s 15th release with the new Universal Consciousness EP. It comes after Amazingblaze – Venture EP and features four more powerful and psychedelic techno cuts.

A day before release on Wednesday 27th of April at 19:00 CEST and in collaboration with Beatport, Charlotte heads up ‘New Form’ V: Universal Consciousness stream. It was recorded in the empty Flanders Expo venue with the epic production that was set up for the hugely successful event on 16th April.

Charlotte is fresh off the back of her biggest ever KNTXT party in mid April. It took place in her hometown of Ghent and saw her play a historic 10 hour set to a vast crowd of people who were taken on a real sonic journey.

Also in April, Charlotte returned to London’s iconic Printworks for the first time in five years, this time with her KNTXT concept and once again raised the roof. While staying busy on the road, she continues to curate the Apple Music x KNTXT page while cooking up ever fresh sounds in the studio. This latest EP is another subtle evolution in her signature style.

Says Charlotte of the EP, “Following up on my latest Asura EP in September, I decided to delve a bit deeper in the world of psychedelia. All the tracks of the EP are psy inspired, some more than others. I’ve been playing these tracks for a while now in the clubs. It’s been a real pleasure to see the crowd’s reaction and see the amount of track ID requests online. This one is from me to you, I hope you enjoy my Universal Consciousness EP!

Opener ‘Satori‘ is dark and heavy. The chunky, raw drums hit hard and flat, as the squelchy acid synths pan about the mix. An enchanting middle eastern vocal wail brings an extra trance-inducing element that is sure to lock in the hearts and minds of the crowd.

The super ‘Kali‘ is a slick and high speed piece that shows the love relation between psy trance and techno. The video game style synths peel off the groove next to alien sound effects, and the subtly evolving acid line burrows deep into your brain.

Then comes the dynamic, bouncy and acid laced-title cut ‘Universal Consciousness‘. It’s a fulsome tune with rubbery kicks and visceral 303 loops that will melt the mind, as dancers fall under its hypnotic and tripped out spell.

Last of all is ‘Ahimsa‘ with its bright, lashing acid synths and hammering kick drums. It’s the perfect mix of physical groove and psyched-out synth work, and is perfect for both sweaty basements and vast main rooms alike. When the mystical flutes come in, it takes things to another level entirely.

This is another all consuming EP of innovative techno from Charlotte de Witte.

crouds are back on RFR Records with powerful new EP ‘Bionic Jelly’

Berlin based DJ and producer duo, crouds are back on the German label RFR Records with techno, breakbeat and trance EP, ‘Bionic Jelly’. Subsequent to their formidable collaboration with Max Delius a few months prior, Andreas Schuller and Jay Nagel deliver the next tracks for RFR.

Bionic Jelly” still moves in style within the croudian sound biotope, yet places the tooly aspect a little bit more in the foreground. “It’s a match” starts restrainedly with dubby breakbeats, being driven forward by echoes and reverb. Rattling percussions jump on the sonic carpet and little by little increase the intensity of this funky opener. Yep, that fits!

Stomache Grind“ comes around the corner way more relaxed than its title may suggest. Nothing indigestive is presented here, in contrary a digestif made of all the ingredients which crouds are famous for: Melody, broken beats, elaborately composed dub patterns and a dose of finesse.

Heavy 90s vibes in the final track of this EP. Kinda reminiscent of Luke Vibert in his best Rephlex days. Minimal, interlaced and mystical. “Shifting Space” not only moves space, but also time. Because this is what’s needed in order to enjoy the true depth of this track.

Bionic Jelly‘ EP will be available after the 3rd of May!

Wehbba returns to Drumcode for a brilliant 3-tracker EP ‘Dynamo’

Two years on from his critically acclaimed album ‘Straight Lines & Sharp Corners’, Wehbba returns for a brilliant three-tracker ‘Dynamo’.

The Barcelona-based, Brazilian-born artist is as creative as they come, mining studio inspiration from across the gamut – whether it be everyday life, his meditation practise, or the dancefloor. Everything is fair game for Wehbba. Everything but formula, of course.

Dynamo‘ continues this legacy. The title track delivers with bags of galloping energy, as organic tones and a wicked acid mid-section make it pop, while vocal samples from Marlon Brando sit in the background.

Ataraxia’ is dramatic and celestial in equal doses, intended to represent the “stoic term for enlightenment or equanimity, which is my main focus since becoming a Vipassana practitioner a few years ago,Wehbba explains.

The track represents the journey from darkness to light over the last two years and is the artist’s own personal “we’re back” anthem. ‘Strange Dreamz‘ was inspired by a famous meme, Wehbba using the vocal samples to deft effect, creating a fun and funky techno weapon made for big moments.

The EP follows his standout contribution to the E-Dancer Re:Generate compilation with ‘Velocity Funk‘. The artist has also been making waves with his hardware-only ‘Wehbba’s Live Station‘ show, which explores the spontaneous effects of recreating old and new compositions in a live environment. Highlights so far and forthcoming include Awakenings, Barcelona’s iconic Brunch in the Park event and Sónar Istanbul.

Terminal V makes a stunning return to Edinburgh

There was a huge sense of relief over Easter Weekend when Terminal V finally got back to doing what they do best after two and a half years away: throwing mind-blowing festivals and events with a long list of world class talents and a huge audience losing themselves in music.

The pandemic was but a memory when thousands lost themselves in the middle of the dance floor amongst the brain boggling production, and already thoughts are now turning to next year’s Terminal V Easter Weekend Festival on April 8th and 9th 2023, with weekend tickets on sale for £120+ and available via a payment plan split over the next 12 months. Tickets go on sale at 9am Friday 22nd April. Up next though is Terminal V Halloween, the annual alternate event with details of which will follow soon.

This was the first festival of the year and undoubtedly the most impressive and grandest Terminal V to date and quite possibly the biggest event of its kind Europe has seen in a long time. The whole of Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre was transformed into an alternate electronic music reality across multiple warehouses with no fewer than six utterly unique stage designs and carefully curated line-ups in each.

The production was cutting edge and mind-bending, with loud and proud sound systems, futuristic light shows and visuals that were off the chart. Each set was a real spectacle, with earth shattering sounds and sensory stimulating production adding extra levels of magic each and every time.

Even the weather held out to make for an extra special atmosphere as people travelled from all over the UK and even Europe to attend this much vaunted party. This year there was a big demand for the local Scottish heroes who lined-up and the highlights came thick and fast, with Ewan McVicar‘s set in the Greenhouse causing plenty to talk about while the ever more essential Fraz.ier was hugely impressive in the Blackbox + Area V stage.

Also, I Hate Models grabbing a Scottish flag from the crowd to wave during the end of his mesmeric set was an iconic moment and Amelie Lens bringing big, powerful techno to close down Saturday will not be quickly forgotten. Kerri Chandler was on top form holding it down on Sunday night in the Greenhouse and Tale Of Us brought an interplanetary melodic techno masterclass for their set which drew huge reactions.

Says Terminal V CEO Derek Martin, “It was an incredible weekend and certainly lived up to the hype after 2.5 years aways. We witnessed some incredible performances over our six newly designed stages and we had an amazing energetic audience in attendance over the two days. It feels great to be back, the wait was worth it! Roll on the festival returning again next year and our special Halloween event that will be announced very soon.

Fellow CEO Simon McGrath adds, “It’s good to be back! After 2.5yrs since our last one, it was definitely an emotional return for us. Terminal V couldn’t have gone smoother, great atmosphere all weekend, the weather and too many stand out moments to choose from. Already Looking forward to Terminal V Easter 2023 and Terminal V Halloween. They can’t come quick enough!

This was a weekend of special memories and historic sets, all on a scale never seen before in the UK. It confirmed that Terminal V is back in a big way and is only set to continue to grow. There is no experience like it so make sure you get booking the next one because it will sell out.

Ferry Corsten takes ‘Timeout’ on Flashover for something different with Dustin Husain!

Ferry Corsten

Like with earlier releases’ Fire’ feat Simon Le Bon and Gold-certified hit ‘Punk’, Ferry Corsten has managed to successfully levitate himself beyond the trance genre, gaining respect from contemporaries in house, EDM and underground circles.

Whilst internationally renowned electronic artist Ferry Corsten has had a career synonymous with trance, his musical range has always extended far beyond just one genre. His latest release, ‘Timeout‘, in collaboration with rising talent Dustin Husain, adds another layer to the spectrum of sounds that have contributed to his career over the past two decades.

An irresistible house player, ‘Timeout‘ pulsates with a progressive groove and a stylised piano melody, leading the track to quickly hit its pace with an energetic drive. With ‘Timeout‘, Ferry and Dustin draw on influences from the classic piano house era as they interlace lashings of energy into a female-led vocal house track that fans and DJs will play well into the fall.

Revealing the message behind the track, Ferry said:

This one is simple. We wanted to make a track that halts people from the mundane of their working week, studies, or whatever else they need a release from and signals that it’s time for the weekend. So, get ready to party!
