Stephan Jolk and Yotto join forces to deliver a brilliant new EP ‘New Era’ on Afterlife

Multi-talented DJs and producers Stephan Jolk and Yotto team up to deliver a brilliant new EP on Tale of Us‘ record label Afterlife, just for your listening pleasure.

This is Stephan Jolk‘s fourth appearance on the label in less than a year, but the first collaboration with his colleague Yotto. With distinctive but synergic sounds, both artists are renowned for their ability to imbue their music with rich musicality and captivating rhythms.

On ‘New Era‘ we are invited to join an odyssey into the infinite field of consciousness. The title track has the typical Yotto rippling rhythm that gallops along while drawing you into its orbit, whereas a melodramatic signature Stephan Jolk riff infiltrates your heart centre.

On the flip ‘Only One‘ takes a more unassuming approach, the sombre tones complemented by the main melody which is melancholic, but at the same time uplifting. Dance music with pure soul at its core.

Claptone drops much anticipated first single for 2021. “Zero”

Claptone; the musician that maintains a mystery that few artists can match finally drops long-awaited original new music. His new single “Zero” is a driving beacon of house music indicative that dancefloors commanded over by his golden mask’s charm are set to return very soon.

Zero‘s” illuminating crescendo and playful yet commanding vocal is as evocative as it is affecting and underpins the beginning of one of Claptone‘s most transparent musical moments without compromising what made his earlier work so special, channeling deep grooves and in “Zero‘s” case, dizzying euphoria into an unyielding dancefloor anthem.

Making the most out of a year void of a busy touring schedule, Claptone‘s long studio sessions have amassed some exciting new original material for 2021. “Zero” is the first single to follow his most recently celebrated Ibiza summer hit ‘Drop The Pressure‘ and remixes for superstars like Ava Max, Dua Lipa, Michael Kiwanuka and Mark Ronson.

Missing out on his spellbinding Saturday night “‘The Masquerade‘” residency at Pacha, Ibiza, as well as global festivals and headline shows, the masked man turned to broadcasting a weekly live stream which recently celebrated more than 45 Million YouTube views; a fan endeavor that awarded Claptone as the highest-ranking House DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll for the 4th year in a row.

Insomniac Events, the world’s leading dance music promoter and the visionaries behind EDC Las Vegas (Electric Daisy Carnival), Nocturnal Wonderland, Escape: Psycho Circus, and many more, is announcing the launch of Factory 93 Records, a new record label joining the Insomniac Music Group family, which will focus on unearthing the most exciting artists and sounds from within the underground space.

For the better part of the last decade, Factory 93 has cemented itself as a pillar for all things house and techno. The immersive underground experience has kept its ear glued to the ground via celebrated lineups highlighting established and emerging acts alike from all corners of the world, setting the bar increasingly higher for itself through world-class production and an eye-grabbing aesthetic.

Factory 93 Records is the next step in the evolution of the brand, assembling a platform for the culture to gather around the most exciting sounds spanning house, techno, tech house, disco and every shade of discerning dance music sitting in-between.

Factory 93 represents the beginning of Insomniac. Underground dance music will always be the roots of everything we do. Factory 93 is a very passionate part of the Insomniac portfolio worldwide, which makes this new record label even more exciting for us,” says Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac’s Founder and CEO.

“With the addition of Factory 93 Records, our team will be able to carry over its vision from the live events side into a carefully curated catalog we can’t wait for you to hear.

Initially getting off the ground as a warehouse series in 2016, the launch of Factory 93 was a full circle moment that took root in the heart of the industrial district of Downtown Los Angeles from whence the Insomniac saga first began. Before long, the brand started firing on all cylinders with the introduction of festival showcases (hosting stages at EDC Las Vegas, EDC Mexico, EDC Orlando, Escape, EDC Japan), large-scale open-air event at unique venues, sold-out club nights (Exchange LA, Academy Hollywood and Club Space Miami), and becoming the masterminds behind the lauded Secret Project Festival.

Having championed a head-turning list of talent from the likes of Carl Cox, Charlotte de Witte, Adam Beyer, Nicole Moudaber, Amelie Lens, Boris Brejcha, Peggy Gou, The Martinez Brothers, Joseph Capriati, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice and many more, Factory has developed into an all-around tastemaker in its own right. Breaking into the record label space will allow the sounds from its international stages to reach underground heads extending out across the globe.

Details surrounding the Factory 93 Records roster and forthcoming release schedule will be revealed soon. In order to stay current on all label matters, make sure to keep an eye on the Factory 93 socials and check the official website for further updates.

Mathame Release New A.I Algorithm Mix for Apple Music

Mathame
via Giovanni A. Mocchetti

Mathame have launched a new and groundbreaking series of mixtapes that have been put together with a brand new A.I. algorithm developed to test the power of the new M1 processor architecture by Apple. “Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1” lands in March 2021, with further instalments to follow throughout the year.

Mathame are an Italian techno pair who bring real depth of emotion to their grooves. They release on labels like Tale Of Us‘s Afterlife, and have a truly emotive and deep techno sound that’s full of melody.

This new A.I technology allows artists to separate tracks into harmonics, vocals and beats then rebuild new versions on the fly. It was first trialled by Mathame in their globally acclaimed 2020 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, which ended with an upcoming Mathame remix from one of the most talented pianists in Europe, namely Max Richter’s Declaration of Human Rights.

The sonic aesthetic sits somewhere in between lofi mixtape and enhanced engineered sound design. In it, music by the likes of Franco Battiato and Arca, Burial and Moby as well as Plastikman, MF Doom and Buddy Rich all explode and collapse into something brand new and never heard before.

The beauty of this technique is that is not perfect, the little mistakes and sonic artifacts shade it with unprecedented feelings, working it was more human than the classic way of mixing tracks. This sounds like a lo fi cyborg mix , maybe the future of dance mixtapes,” says Mathame.

Though this special Apple DJ Mix series, Mathame are proving their desire to build bridges between genres and musical styles. After the release of the first “Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1” in March 2021, Mathame will continue this series in collaboration with Apple Music by delivering different types of mixtapes that will continue to explore their skills alongside the A.I. neural mix technology.

Glitterbox celebrates Where Love Lives film premiere with DJ sets streamed from Royal Albert Hall

Glitterbox Hï Ibiza

Following the announcement of the release date for new nightlife documentary Where Love Lives, full details for Glitterbox‘s unique three-part premiere event for the film have now been revealed.

The virtual extravaganza will start on YouTube at 4pm GMT on Thursday 18th March with DJ sets from Melvo Baptiste, Jellybean Benitez and Dimitri From Paris, followed by the world premiere of Where Love Lives at 8pm GMT and closing with a two-hour after-party with DJ sets from Natasha Diggs and Fat Tony. London-based DJs Melvo Baptiste and Fat Tony will be streamed from the capital’s most iconic and historical music venue, Royal Albert Hall.

Moving seamlessly from world-class DJ live streams into film premiere, the event will use YouTube’s new Live Redirect technology to combine Glitterbox‘s unmistakable soundtrack of house and disco music with the film’s launch, broadcasting the whole event completely free to nightlife lovers around the world.

A venue that has existed since 1871 to promote the Arts, which has seen many a historic cultural moment thanks to its world-leading program of events and broadcasts, the Royal Albert Hall has welcomed the Glitterbox DJs and a small team working socially distanced to ensure this mission continues while the Hall remains closed to the public.

Its world-famous interior, with red velvet tiered seating and grand ‘in the round’ amphitheater, will be transformed for one night only into a club stage bedecked with disco lights, mirror balls, and a catwalk fit for Glitterbox‘s troupe of club kids, drag queens, and go-go dancers. Meanwhile, disco royalty Dimitri From Paris‘ set will be streamed from Paris, Jellybean Benitez from Miami, and Natasha Diggs from Brazil, making this a truly global and COVID-safe coming together of DJ talent.

A project that has been two years in the making, with filming taking place around the world pre-lockdown, Where Love Lives will be available to watch globally on the service after the premiere.

Where Love Lives is a story of music’s enduring power to manifest diverse and inclusive community, and the power of that community to accept and embrace, to liberate, even to save lives. It’s a story of acceptance and creative expression – empowered, enabled and soundtracked by club music.

Glitterbox ambassadors Lucy Fizz, TeTe Bang and The Mx Fit take centre stage, opening up about the deeply personal moments that brought them to their calling in clubland, and what they found there that made them stay. Through extensive exclusive interviews with titans of nightlife culture, Where Love Lives contributors Billy Porter, Honey Dijon, Kathy Sledge, Kiddy Smile, John ‘Jellybean’ Benitez, Kae Burke (House Of Yes), Fiorious and many more explore how those driven to the margins of society are welcomed unconditionally to the center of the dancefloor.

For the first time using YouTube’s recently released Live Redirect and ‘premiere’ technology, Glitterbox alongside parent label Defected will be connecting the dots between live streaming and film launch, to turn the premiere into a huge global watch-along event – the next step in Defected’s multi-award-winning Virtual Festival series, which saw YouTube collaborate with the labels in 2020 to reach millions of people worldwide through live-streamed events.

The Where Love Lives premiere event exclusive to YouTube, will start at 4pm GMT on Thursday 18th March 2021 with the premiere starting at 8pm GMT.

Rebūke crafts cinematic new EP for Drumcode, ‘Wasp’

The Irishman’s previous offerings on the label ‘Rattle’ and ‘Obscurity’ have been standouts; interesting and innovative in equal measures, the artist’s grind to push himself sonically and offer up something fresh with each release is profoundly evident.

Rattle‘ was a commercial and critical success, included in DJ Mag‘s tracks of 2019 round-up, while ‘Obscurity‘, garnered acclaim from all corners of the industry and saw all three tracks hit the Beatport Techno Top 10 (Peak Time / Driving).

Wasp‘ continues this inspiring vein of form. The lead track is signature Rebūke, the kind that of synapse-searing belter that promises to join the canon of his biggest tracks to date.

Clarity‘ and ‘Redemption‘ are shimmering slices of cinematic techno, drawing as much inspiration from film soundtracks, as they do from the rave, reinforcing the artist’s expansive creative approach.

Redemption‘ will be familiar to many, having highlighted Rebūke‘s acclaimed Essential Mix last summer. It continues on the same thematic tip, a stirring widescreen composition, powerful and emotive; it’s destined to be an end-of-night tear-jerker, once it’s safe for parties to return.
